In this episode of the Research 2 Reps Roundtable, I sit down with my longtime friend and collaborator Brett Hayes, a physical therapist who helped us shape what we now call corrective biomechanics. Brett shares how his journey from the Pacific Northwest and years with the Seattle Seahawks led him to Mizzou, where we started connecting clinical rehab principles with what was happening in the weight room and on the field. We talk about how that shared vision turned into real systems, including our early work with the DARI markerless motion capture platform, and how that technology helped us move past opinion and get everyone on the same page with objective joint vulnerability data instead of just "coach's eye" arguments. From there, we dig into how Brett and Dr. Ernie Rimer have taken that work to the University of Louisville, using sport science as the bridge between sports medicine, strength and conditioning, and performance. Brett walks through how baselining women's basketball with DARI and building targeted interventions helped reduce injuries five-fold over three seasons, and why the real separator is not the gadget, but integration, communication, and athlete education. We also get into athlete trust, why pros sometimes go outside the system to get scanned, and how explaining the "why" behind any intervention is now mandatory if we want true buy-in and long-term career longevity for our athletes. Shoutout to Sorinex and EliteForm for making these episodes possible!
Steve Thomson (in for Henry Lake) and Chris Tubbs discuss the Minnesota Vikings awful loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and they wonder if Kwesi Adofo-Mensah can fix it.

It was out of bounds for Lane Kiffin to accept the LSU job and also think he could keep coaching Ole Miss. That's what Jonathan Zaslow thinks. He also says Alabama has a shot at nabbing a top four spot with a win in the SEC Championship. In the NFL, parity is ruining and making everything interesting. (Side note: every time you watch the Lions do you think to yourself, maybe it was Ben Johnson all along?) Then we get intel on the Chiefs collapse with former Chief lineman Geoff Schwartz. He also gets into the weeds with Mike Tomlin and team dynamics and why a veteran like Cam Heyward losing his mind on Josh Allen is bad omen. Matt Jones and Drew Franklin are still buzzing over an amazing few days of Thanksgiving NFL and Week 13! Which teams do Matt no longer consider a contender? Drew is looking for a strong finish from the Bengals. The Cowboys and Chiefs delivered a classic and leave you wondering about the future of both franchises. The Lions have lost 2 of 3 while the Packers are coming together. The Bears win makes Matt think they have a chance this season. What has happened to the Eagles and Saquon Barkley? The Rams took a surprising loss to the Panthers. Matt likes showing the locker room speeches, but thinks shirts should be left on. The Texans improved to 7-5 win a win over the Colts. Shedeur Sanders loses his 2nd start for the Browns. The Bucs ended a 3 game losing streak. The Vikings season continues to slide. Justin Herbert injures his non-throwing hand and Matt says he might be 'afraid' of Maxx Crosby. The Steelers fall to the Bills leaving plenty of questions about Pittsburgh. Drew admits to watching a Hallmark movie about the Bills. The Broncos win in overtime, could they be a Super Bowl contender? This could be the most wide-open playoffs we've ever seen. The Jaguars, with their win over the Titans, and Texans now have made things interesting in the AFC South and closed the gap the Colts created in the first half of the season. The Quarterback play for the Minnesota Vikings is both historically and comedically bad at this point. When J.J. McCarthy plays, he's largely awful. Max Brosmer threw one of the worst interceptions you will ever see in the Minnesota Vikings loss to the Seattle Seahawks and the offense is incapable of scoring touchdowns… Just another year in the life of being a Minnesota Vikings, huh? Max Brosmer never stood a chance. The Seattle Seahawks dominated in a 26-0 shutout victory over the Minnesota Vikings. We dive into the incredible defensive performance, highlighting standout plays from DeMarcus Lawrence, Ernest Jones, and a defensive line that overwhelmed Minnesota's offense. Offensively, the Seahawks did enough to complement the defense, with Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet grinding out yards against an aggressive Vikings front. While not impressive, Sam Darnold put together the kind of performance we wished we could have seen against the Rams a couple weeks ago. The Seahawks close out November tied at the top of the division with Los Angeles as their re-match looms on the horizon.

MMQB with HUGH MILLEN starts now! We start with some praise for the Seahawks defense after that shutout victory. The rookie vs that Defense! Thank goodness for the addition of DeMarcus Lawrence and Ernest Jones. :30- We are back with Hugh for MMQB and it's time to take a look at the offensive concerns. What broke down and what did the Vikings do well? :45- We have one more segment with Hugh and we need to talk a little bit about UW/Oregon and Lane Kiffin leaving Ole Miss. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
MMQB with MIKE HOLMGREN & HUGH MILLEN It was a defensive-heavy win for the Seahawks yesterday, what were Coach's takeaways from the game? Do the Seahawks have a turnover issue? How can they fix that without losing their edge? Coach has had some experience with a QB who had some turnover issues early on in his career… :30- MMQB with Coach and hug continues and we discus the struggles with pass protection; should Coach MacDonald be concerned or did the Vikings just do a good job? How big of a problem is Anthony Bradford on the O-Line? The defense deserves some flowers! :45- We close out the Monday show with one last thing for Coach! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We have grabbed some of the best moments from our Monday show and visits from Gregg Bell, Mike Holmgren and Hugh Millen!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Seahawks get the shutout! The Seahawks defense absolutely dominated the Vikings and thank goodness they did, because offensively this team struggled. Darnold was sacked 4 times and the offense only managed one touchdown, relying on field goals and the defense to get the job done against Minnesota, so while there were a lot of positives to takeaway from the W, there are some concerns as well. :30- Grab your Thanksgiving leftovers and let's enjoy a cold turkey sandwich together while we check out the NFL board of scores! There are 6 teams in the NFL with 9-wins and 3 of them are in the NFC West. :45- Coach Bucky is here and he only wants to talk about the Washington-Oregon game… yuck. - Coach Bucky and his son got to watch the game from the stands, how did that go? - What was the difference in the game? 3rd and long defense? Not using Adam Mohammed more? Not having any open receivers? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Headlines and 12th man news with GREGG BELL (Tacoma News Tribune) The Seahawks were a week late on Gregg's predicted shutout, but they got it done against the Vikings! What concerns did Gregg have following that win? What were Brian Flores and the Vikings defense doing that was so successful in shutting the Hawks offense down? How about that Seahawks defense?!?! :30- It's time to hear from Mike MacDonald in his postgame comments. Does he have any concerns about the offense? :35- We have entered the last week of Fact or Fiction; can Chuck get us off on the right foot? :45- Lane Kiffin strikes again! The Ole Miss head coach is leaving for LSU and after he didn't get his way, he threatened to take his whole staff with him. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

With the playoffs in sight, the Seattle Seahawks look to continue their streak of only losing one game per month if they can finish strong against the Minnesota Vikings. The return of Quandre Diggs brings a familiar spark to the defense, while we wait to see if Ty Okada will be back in the lineup on Sunday. Minnesota is rolling out an undrafted rookie quarterback with J.J. McCarthy in concussion protocol. Will they continue to stick to a pass-heavy game plan that hasn't delivered for them this season? The run game—or lack thereof—stands out as a key factor, and Seattle's ability to put pressure on a young quarterback could turn this into a lopsided game. Will Sam Darnold see this as a big game considering his history in Minnesota? Or will we see a calm Darnold who should be able to tear apart the Vikings secondary? In the second half of the show we discuss how the old "chain gang" appears to be missing for the 2025 NFL season. We've rarely seen the virtual measurement, let along the classic physical measurement. Are we just to the point where we'll trust the officials on the field to spot the ball? As we head into the shopping season, we discuss some disappointing trends that we were both faced with this past week. Better at Life honors go out to all the 12s who made the trip to Nashville. Dave made a list. It's 100 deep and contains the Best Position Group by Franchise in History. Jeremy Taché joins the show to vet this list. Some of the places make sense, like Dodgers starting pitches. But some of Dave's rankings are suspect, like how high on the list the Penguins centers sit.
