CONTENT WARNING - This show includes a sports massage. Not, like, as a free gift for you, though something could be arranged, maybe. Let's not completely rule that out right this minute. Anyway, no, it's a descriptive thing. One of our intrepid hosts finds himself needing of some physio so gets a sports massage. From two ladies. Both called Sophie. Look, if that sounds far fetched then don't blame me, I'm just giving you a heads up. The word "buttocks" is used. If that's the kind of thing that offends then, I dunno, start the show 10 minutes in. That's a rough guess as once this gets uploaded and ads are thrown in the mix my timings go straight out the window but 10 minutes should be safe... Beyond that, welcome to the latest episode of One Life Left! This week there's still no Super Special Keef but we have a jam packed show that includes potential Nintendo Game-Key Card shenanigans, the Post Trauma of releasing a game in the shadow of Oblivion, a footy game doing well (and it isn't PES, FIFA, EA, SWOS, Kick Off nor even Emlyn Hughes International Soccer!), Simon has a "hack" for getting cheaper Switch 2 upgrades and we ponder over an Outrun movie. We also have Ste reporting back on his recent trips to Switzerland and Reboot in Croatia, including all the gossip and The Art of Video Game Design covers delayed gratification! For some reason our mailbag is bare. Barren. Bereft of letters/emails/offers of cash. Only YOU can change this, dear listeners. Our lives and/or sanity may depend on your correspondence so PLEASE write to us at team@onelifeleft.com or join our Discord, chat amongst other OLL dignitaries and leave a letter for us on there.

Welcome to another insightful episode of "The Secret To Success" podcast. In this episode, titled "Navigating Growth: Antonio's Blueprint for Business Success," we delve deep into the secrets and strategies behind achieving unprecedented success in the world of business. Antonio, our visionary guide, shares his invaluable insights, taking us through the intriguing Density6 Organizational Structure, where the key divisions - Coaching & Conferences, Technology & AI, Video Game Design, Streaming Services, News Company, and AI Finance & Fintech - provide the building blocks for success. Each division is dedicated to a specific niche, whether it's personal growth workshops, cutting-edge AI technology, immersive video games, premium streaming content, accurate news delivery, or pioneering AI solutions in finance and fintech.Antonio then unveils his ambitious venture, RhinoLeg, where his non-negotiable goal is to have 20,000 customers at $49/month. He outlines the four essential steps to success, emphasizing the need to test and refine your prototype continually, building a stockpile of predictable revenue, allocating resources to an advertising budget, and eventually making a move to claim your share of the market by attracting customers from the competition. In "Your Home-Based Business," Antonio simplifies the essence of entrepreneurship by highlighting that a business only needs to exist when there's a genuine need, and you have the drive to fulfill that need. He then guides us on the optimal allocation of business revenue into five crucial categories: paper, plastic, food (18-21%), labor, and taxes. His advice is to structure your products in a way that efficiently covers your expenses while meticulously setting clear goals for your company, encompassing one-year, three-year, five-year, and ten-year milestones. As we near the end of this episode, Antonio leaves us with some closing thoughts, urging us to establish a robust organizational structure and transform long-term goals into one-year actionable targets. He advocates embracing "Antonio mode" - a mindset driven by passion and dedication to your mission. And finally, he drops a powerful nugget of wisdom: "If you do not have a podcast, you need to start one," highlighting the significance of sharing knowledge and building a personal brand in the digital age. So, prepare to be inspired, motivated, and well-equipped with Antonio's blueprint for achieving success in your business endeavors.Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-secret-to-success/exclusive-contentAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Gary was part of the first generation to have home video games, and can still remember his Odyssey game console while everyone else was getting an Atari. You might say that left a mark. But he also remembers the fun that you could have just by sitting in front of the television, or computer, and playing some video games. As the games evolved, so did the fun. New consoles and new games meant better graphics, enhanced video, and bigger challenges. Even today he can say with pride that I did knock out Mike Tyson in that video game.We might say that the “game” has definitely changed in video game design. Video games today can look like movies, and play like them too. Rich narratives, development characters, seemingly live action, complicated controllers that let you feel like you are part of the game itself. All of it has come together to make the gaming industry a multi-billion dollar enterprise with expanded job opportunities, AAA design studios, and an ever-increasing universe of games to play. This raises the question of how are these games designed to create great experiences? Additionally, what are the potential challenges and issues with the ways in which games have been designed from perspectives that are not diverse. To discuss these questions and more, we welcome Dr. Jess Tompkins to the Experience by Design studios. We were able to see Jess speak at the 2023 SXSW conference on a panel on diversity in game design. Jess is the UX Research Director at Skeleton Key, a game design studio. She also has a PhD in Media Psychology, with a dissertation that explored the social psychological effects of video games and avatars on self-identified women. At Skeleton Key, she pursues a human-centric approach to game design, using player data and insights to create the best games possible. We explore how video game design is evolving to be more inclusive. We also discuss how video games can be the foundation for forming online communities. She emphasizes the importance of user-centered and participatory design frameworks to be more responsive to player needs and wants, as well as to think about the larger impacts that games can have on people's psyches. Finally, we discuss how there is an emerging and growing demand for video games to tell more diverse stories that represent cultures of the world, especially as video games continue to grow globally.
Welcome to another episode of the "22 Lessons on Ethics and Technology" series! In this episode, I sit down with Jason Edward Lewis to talk about how Indigenous peoples are imagining the futures while drawing upon their heritage. How can we broaden the discussions regarding technology and society to include Indigenous perspectives? How can we design and create AI that centers Indigenous concerns and accommodates a multiplicity of thought? And how can art-led technology research and the use of computational art in imagining the future? Jason Edward Lewis is a digital media theorist, poet, and software designer. He founded Obx Laboratory for Experimental Media, where he conducts research/creation projects exploring computation as a creative and cultural material. Lewis is deeply committed to developing intriguing new forms of expression by working on conceptual, critical, creative and technical levels simultaneously. He is the University Research Chair in Computational Media and the Indigenous Future Imaginary as well Professor of Computation Arts at Concordia University. Lewis was born and raised in northern California, and currently lives in Montreal. Lewis directs the Initiative for Indigenous Futures, and co-directs the Indigenous Futures Research Centre, the Indigenous Protocol and AI Workshops, the Aboriginal Territories in Cyberspace research network, and the Skins Workshops on Aboriginal Storytelling and Video Game Design. Lewis' creative and production work has been featured at Ars Electronica, Mobilefest, Elektra, Urban Screens, ISEA, SIGGRAPH, FILE and the Hawaiian International Film Festival, among other venues, and has been recognized with the inaugural Robert Coover Award for Best Work of Electronic Literature, two Prix Ars Electronica Honorable Mentions, several imagineNATIVE Best New Media awards and multiple solo exhibitions. His research interests include emergent media theory and history, and methodologies for conducting art-led technology research. In addition to being lead author on the award-winning “Making Kin with the Machines” essay and editor of the groundbreaking Indigenous Protocol and Artificial Intelligence Position Paper, he has contributed to chapters in collected editions covering Indigenous futures, mobile media, video game design, machinima and experimental pedagogy with Indigenous communities. Lewis has worked in a range of industrial research settings, including Interval Research, US West's Advanced Technology Group, and the Institute for Research on Learning, and, at the turn of the century, he founded and ran a research studio for the venture capital firm Arts Alliance. Lewis is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada as well as a former Trudeau, Carnegie, and ISO-MIT Co-Creation Lab Fellow. He received a B.S. in Symbolic Systems (Cognitive Science) and B.A. in German Studies (Philosophy) from Stanford University, and an M.Phil. in Design from the Royal College of Art.

How do players morally engage with games? What can user experience research and moral psychology tell us about how players experience and think about ethical decisions in games? We chat with philosopher Paul Formosa and Game Designer Malcolm Ryan about their collaborative ongoing research exploring these questions. --------------------------- Our guest for this episode are: Paul Formosa is a Professor of Philosophy, Head of the Department of Philosophy, and Co-Director of the Centre for Agency, Values and Ethics at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. Paul has published widely on topics in moral and political philosophy, with a recent focus on the ethical issues raised by new technologies such as video games and AI. He also collaborates regularly with colleagues from a range of different disciplines outside of philosophy, one of whom is our other guest today, Malcolm Ryan! Malcolm Ryan is Course Director of the Game Design and Development program in the School of Computing at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. Malcolm has published in game design, virtual reality and artificial intelligence. His current research focuses on how players make ethical decisions in video games, in collaboration with colleagues from philosophy, psychology and creative writing. He blogs about video game ethics research at MoralityPlay.org. Their research together (which is what we'll be talking about today) is founded in moral psychology and user experience (UX) research. They're interested in how players engage morally with games, how they exercise their ethical thinking to make decisions in games and how they experience these kinds of decisions. The hope is that this research will lead to richer, more engaging ethical content in games both for entertainment and education. --------------------------- JOIN THE ETHICS AND VIDEO GAMES COMMUNITY: - Follow/like/share us on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube - Explore our website and check out our Video Games Ethics Resources Center: https://ethicsandvideogames.com - If you're game to lend us your financial support, we'd love to have it and can definitely use it!
