[3:01] Overcoming Fear Through Faith: Doing What Is Right in the Face of Adversity - The people in power called Joel a direct threat even without proving anything because he chose not to get vaccinated. - The vaccine doesn't stop transmission; based on a study, people with the product have more viral load than those without. - Joel was okay with letting go of his job because he believed he was being protected and promoted to do other things by the higher power and the universal being. - Fear is contagious. But so is courage. And when people that are courageous bond together, amazing things happen. [15:44] Joel's Journey on How He Was Able To Share The Truth in TV Stations - In the beginning, nobody wanted to cover Joel's story. - There are some criminal things done by the SF Police Department. They broke some laws to silence people such as Joel. - Joel took massive hard work and effort to be at Fox News. - You can be the catalyst for a movement, to stand for what is right, not what is easy. [20:12] Ignite: What Are The Important Principles About Mindset? - The biggest challenge people now have is their mindset, not exercise. - Stop trying to change the outside world. You got to change yourself, the inner you. Once you change that, then everything else changes. - Limiting beliefs and emotional issues halt your growth. If you can remove many of those blockages, you will succeed. - The world has given you everything you need, just get out of its way and stop interfering with it. You're creating the interference, not how you think of it. - You don't know where you're going if you're not committed and don't understand your Northstar and what you want to do in life. [33:27] Intentionality and Consistency: Learn This To Be Fit And Healthy - It's not true that you got to tear the muscle to regrow it and gain muscles. - Science shows that you need to create a stimulus enough to create a deficit so that the brain sees a deficit and that gaining more nutrients and muscle is needed. - It's not tearing the muscle; it's creating the stimulus. The body needs to recognize that it needs to build muscle. - By doing this workout style, you can repeatedly hit the same muscle group in a week and not feel sore. - This style of workout is not just effective but also time-efficient. [41:36] Sugar Cravings and Why It Is Connected To Neurotransmitters - Chemicals and flavouring experts are used in foods to deceive our brains into eating, and we now have an obesity issue. - When we have cravings, it's being stimulated through the dopamine pathway. - If you can shower the body with this liking or opioid pathway, it can blunt the dopamine pathway. - You can eat a minimum of high-quality chocolate to activate the liking pathway and lose the foods that trigger your cravings. [48:09] Why Detoxing is Important To Your Body, Especially In This Toxic World? - Detoxing produces good results, which is enough for you to do it. - People are suffering from these toxic waterways. - Some say detox is ineffective, not knowing they do not do proper detoxing. - Detoxing is not about weight loss. This is about getting you healthy. And a healthy body can't be overweight. AND MUCH MORE! The interview explores what "sacred" is, how it can take us to a place of spiritual transcendence, why it's something we should be present in and connected to, and how it can lead to that feeling of surrender. They also explore the sacred feminine and why it is essential to embrace her, not just for women but for all of us, to bring her back into our consciousness to heal the planet. This week Kylie & Meg sit down with Lacey Dunn, a Functional Medicine Dietitian, who helps women reclaim their hormones and their health to become the boss of their own bodies! The girls get back to Thyroid basics and break down what it is, what it does, and what tests are important. Like much of Curious Women topics, this one is super complicated, so while they dive into some pretty science-y stuff in the beginning they wrap up at the end with some great suggestions on attainable places to start! Lacey is the author of the new book, "The Women's Guide to Hormonal Harmony: How To Rebalance Your Hormones, Master Your Metabolism and Become the Boss of Your Own Body", where she helps women navigate their "hormonal symphony", healing their gut and more! It serves as a database to help women understand anything that impacts their overall health. Her book is available on Amazon & at Barnes & Noble or available on her website: https://upliftfitnutrition.com/book/ You can connect with her on IG @faithandfit , twitter @laceyadunn , or www.upliftfitnutrition.com She also has a new supplement line called NourishWell Nutrition, which are evidenced based and formulated by Lacey herself. They are also third party tested to ensure purity and safety! Coming soon @nourishwellnutrition on IG ; pre-launch for the supplements starts on 4/8 and the website will be: www.NourishWellco.com TLDL action steps for how to support your thyroid & adrenal systems: 1. Your TSH is not enough to fully assess your thyroid function. Lacey's ideal testing for thyroid would include: TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone), Free T3, Free T4 and thyroid antibodies (TPO & Tg Ab) + nutrients (Vitamin A, B vitamins, Vitamin E, zinc, selenium, magnesium) + Cortisol 2. For many people (especially women), things you wouldn't suspect may be putting unnecessary stress on your body and messing with your hormones, so try to avoid these. These things include under-eating/over-exercising, fasting for too long, not getting enough sleep and even past traumas. 3. "If you have symptoms, you're stressed". If typical stress management tips don't work for you (like yoga & meditation), there are a ton of options for you, including "forced relaxation" techniques. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/curious-women/support

Heather Brunskell-Evans is a philosopher and sociologist who studies the intersection of medicine and culture. She joins us today to trace the ways in which queer theory evolved in academia and moved into the broader culture, including the Gender Identity Development Service (GIDS) in the UK. Explaining how a social justice angle is key to the ‘affirmative model' of care for gender dysphoria, Heather recounts a few key moments when she realized there were authoritarian elements at play in silencing thought and conversation around the topic of transgender, even for parents trying to protect their children. Heather shares a bit about her background and how she got started. The moment Heather discovered medical intervention for transgender children in 2016, her work has not been the same since. Why did Heather decide to do her PhD in child sexual abuse? Technically, we don't actually have any human or social rights. What research did Heather discover when she was doing her PhD in queer theory? Heather describes what post-structuralism is. We are a byproduct of the culture we live in, but these concepts have not been introduced into queer theory yet. When we are feeling insecure about life, we tend to naturally go back to our ‘roots'. Heather had to censor herself in the 90s. You could not openly talk about women's bodies. The serperation between sex, biology, and gender was intially very good and had some valid points associated with it. Throughout the 70s there was a shift in our views on gender and biology, but by the 90s, there was an overcorrection happening. We are seeing the same thing happening today. People are claiming that some women at the end of the bell curve are stronger than men, which means you can not say women on average are less strong than men. Heather shares her thoughts on... Jungian Analyst Bob Withers joins us to discuss the differences between gay conversion therapy and gender identity conversion therapy. We examine the possibility of misinformed therapists “transing the gay away” and suggest that perhaps the dark history of conversion therapy may not be over. Bob delves into his view of psychosomatic symptoms and draws on his background in philosophy and medical history to understand our current fixation with one's subjective sense of identity. Bob also defines what he calls “detrans-phobic” responses to the experiences of detransitioners. Bob met a biological man, now a woman, who wanted to detransition. He realized that becoming a woman did not solve his psychological problems. This was in 1990. Bob's work would later spark a new set of clients and now Bob sees parents and gender dysphoria teens. How were the narrates about gender different back then? Bob's first detransition client was attacked and vilivided by the community. He tried to write books about it, but the only way to get the bullying to stop was to say he made up the whole thing. This was the first time Bob saw de-trans phorbia. We know the mind through introspection, but we actually know the body through a different way; measurement and observation. If we change someone's mind, is that considered conversion therapy? What about their body? What is conversion therapy? And what does it mean in this context? No therapist would actively support conversion therapy. Now we're faced with a new problem: gender conversion therapy. Therapists are faced with a hard problem. Should they talk their patient through their gender dysphoria/their hatred of their body? Or is that considered gender conversion therapy? Where is the line? Those who identify as trans also might be dealing with same-sex attraction. Converting to the opposite sex might feel more... Support this podcast

Lisa, Joseph, and Deb circumambulate the difficult issue of gender reassignment. They discuss the significance of teen girls wishing to transition and the current tendency to foreclose the meaning of this and move rapidly into medical procedures, a process of concretization instead of curiosity and exploration. Lisa discusses previous examples of symptoms and their diagnoses in history, leading to an understanding of the influence of cultural factors on mental illnesses and diagnosis. Finally, gender reassignment is considered as a Promethean venture, and although it is now possible to challenge the gods of genetics, it is also truly awe-full. We suggest that gender transitioning, like much else, can be psychologically transformative only if there is a conscious relationship to it. Lisa's writings on the topic include three articles in Quillette: Misunderstanding a New Kind of Gender Dysphoria Transgenderism and the Social Construction of Diagnosis Trans Activism's Dangerous Myth of Parental Rejection This article in the Jungian journal Psychological Perspectives: Outbreak: On Transgender Teens and Psychic Epidemics And a chapter in this book, which also includes a chapter from UK Jungian analyst Bob Withers: Transgender Children and Young People: Born in Your Own Body The dream: I am lying in bed with a man I do not know and we are both naked. We are covered by a thin blanket. The man's right hand man comes in the room to discuss something with him. The man in bed with me gets up and does not clothe himself but nonchalantly takes off his penis and hands it to me. It is not bloody or gory and he seems to know that he can put it back on; I am just holding it for him. I'm not sure what to do so I take it under the blanket and lay it on my lower abdomen. The man tells his partner, as he points at me, that he should take a picture for his Dad because they see the outline of the penis under the blanket.
“Women don’t recognize how valuable what they bring to the table actually is” In today’s episode, we decided to tackle a topic that we’ve mentioned in a lot of other threads. It’s such an important topic in the conversation of modern business, and we believe that this episode will truly help women step into their true value and full potential. “I Am Valuable” With women, in particular, value is at the core of most challenges in business. From pricing to leadership to setting boundaries to how we communicate through our marketing, everything boils down to whether or not we truly value ourselves. In my experience, women consistently undervalue themselves, their gifts and what they bring to the table. “Stop Personalizing What is Systemically Broken” This is a personal issue and systemic issue. Systemically, we are constantly told that the qualities we possess as women are less valuable than those possessed by men. This is reflected in how we are compensated, treated, and valued by those around us. It isn’t just in the corporate world. It can show up with our family members, clients and community. This is a systemic problem, but the first step is valuing ourselves. This was the core topic in my TEDx talk, Moving Beyond #Empowerment. “Every moment that you are not valuing yourself, you are trapping yourself. You are compensating for this lack of value, and allowing all of these ideas in the world tell you what you’re worth. That is a trap, and what you’re losing is freedom.” In this episode, you’ll find some amazing insights and tips that will help you take back your freedom and recognise how valuable you are just by breathing. Some Topics we talk about in this episode: Introduction - 1:15 Examples of Issues with Value - 2:45 Reframing our Value - 9:30 What is it Costing Us to Not Value Ourselves? - 14:45 Intention vs Practice when Running a Business - 18:05 Some Reference Points for Recognising your Value- 23:35 The Wisdom of Awareness - 27:15 The Power of Your Own Body - 28:58 Find Your Community - 33:10 Books mentioned in this episode - The Price of Motherhood by Ann Crittenden https://www.amazon.com/Price-Motherhood-Important-World-Valued/dp/0312655401 How to get involved Join the Women in the Business Arena Group on Facebook and continue the discussion starting next week! https://www.facebook.com/groups/womeninthebusinessarena Reach out to us - we’d love to hear more about where you’re at in life and business!
