In this week's Interview Classic episode from ten years ago (9-20-2019), PWTorch editor Wade Keller presents a special Interview Friday with three distinct segments with Triple H, Nick “Eugene” Dinsmore, and Beth Phoenix.-The first segment features Triple H's media conference call after NXT's debut on USA Network. He talked about the thought process that went into what to feature on the USA Network debut, Vince McMahon's involvement and reaction, whether the Full Sail venue is sufficient in the long-run for a national cable show setting, how the show was structured differently because of the split between USA and WWE Network, whether NXT is still developmental, utilizing cruiserweight on the show, and more.-Then comes an interview Wade Keller and Bruce Mitchell conducted on July 26, 2019 which has never been heard before with Nick “Eugene” Dinsmore which was recorded in front of a live audience at the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame Weekend events in Waterloo, Iowa. at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center. In this interview, he discusses a wide range of fascinating topics including being the initial trainer of some of the top stars of the last 20 years including great stories on early John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Batista, and The Rock. Did Cena come across as a future star right away? Was Lesnar a nice guy and hard worker early? What did he think when he would look at The Rock? What separates the top class of success stories from those who didn't end up making it from that same class in OVW? He also talks about ribs he played on Matt Striker, what lessons did he learn that he conveys to his students, the controversial aspects of the Eugene character and how it originated and was received, and more.-Then comes a panel discussion from July 27, 2019 which was recorded in front of a live audience at the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame Weekend events in Waterloo, Iowa. at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center which featured Gerald Brisco, Beth Phoenix, Bob Roop, Baron Von Racshke, and Thunderbolt Patterson. This snippet features Gerald Brisco talking at first about teaming with his brother and feuding with The Funks and Jay Youngblood & Rick Steamboat, then Beth Phoenix speaking about the transition from the Divas ear and her thought on women main eventing WrestleMania, who she thinks are top emerging stars today (outside of WWE), and her desire to see a culture in pro wrestling where kids can see a little bit of themselves in the product no matter their race, background, orientation, or otherwise. In the end, Baron Von Raschke sneaks in a joke about playing his imaginary sister Big Bertha on the air.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/wade-keller-pro-wrestling-podcast--3076978/support.

Minnesotans who watched professional wrestling on television in the 1960s, 70s, and 80s may remember a gruff-voiced, goose-stepping, bald guy who went by the name Baron Von Raschke. The Baron was a villain, known as a “heel” in the wrestling business, but fans loved him. In the early days of his career, he had something called a Prussian sleeper hold he'd put on opponents before pinning them to win — but not before beating up that opponent and taunting fans who were ringside. The incredible story of Baron Von Raschke, real name Jim Raschke, is the subject of a documentary film that's due to be streamed on Amazon, called “The Claw.”The legendary hall of fame pro-wrestler and former substitute teacher hails not from Germany, but Hastings, Minn. He and his son Karl, who co-wrote and co-produced the film, joined MPR News host (and wrestling fan) Cathy Wurzer to talk about it.

The Monday Night Show was happening during the Dallas Cowboys - Tampa Bay Buccaneers playoff game, which somewhat prompted Todd and I to start talking about the NFL playoffs. There have been some amazing games. Todd pointed out the Baltimore Ravens' 300-pound fullback, while I was envious of their offensive linemen pulling during plays. Quarterbacks and the NFL offenses are much more exciting than they've been in my lifetime. The NFL is fun to watch. This wasn't true a few years ago. This brought up a discussion of fullbacks (of course) and the question - What is a NFL offense? There have been several updates to Nebraska's roster: Walter Rouse flipped to Oklahoma Nebraska picked up a highly sought after OLB from Georgia - M.J. Sherman Receiver Zavier Betts might return to the team Isiah Garcia-Castaneda — withdrew from portal and it appears he will rejoin the team Matt Rhule hired Susan Elza to be Chief of Staff What's a Chief of Staff do? Will Rhule hire a press secretary? I hope so. Nebraska Wrestling: Todd watched as Nebraska beat Minnesota and Northwestern, both higher ranked at the time. Todd brings up his past wrestling exploits, including how he was crushed by the insidious Flying Salami Brothers while a member of Schramm 6 All the wrestling talk conjured up the names Mad Dog Vachon and Baron Von Raschke. I met the Baron a few years ago. This is the full story of that meeting. Brett Maher missed four PATs as Dallas stomped the Tampa Bay Bucs. That's shocking. Learn more about your ad choices. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another exciting episode of the Kick Out Crew. It's your show as we welcome back James Elkouri from his extravagant, and very expensive, vacation! Hear what 'Randy's son' has to say on this episode where he never shuts up. What a mark! Brad is vending a great TGW story, while 'Randy's son' gives his side of the story. Mike makes sure we aren't breaking the law. Rosey shows us a....well, lets just say its something that you'll be talking about. Adam stays on course as being our rising star, even though he already is a star. Devyn's demographic was a hopeful spoiler of Sammy Guevara leaving, and if you thought that was the only one, stay tuned. Mike lollipops his way to some good chicken. In all seriousness, the guys cover some Baron Von Raschke matches chosen by Coach Rosey. It's a sentimental subject as it reminds him of his father, whom he was close to and from what we can tell was a very great man. We appreciate Coach Rosey letting us have a good time and glad he got to reminisce on some fond memories, that's what its all about. So sit back, relax, and enjoy another hilarious episode of the Kick Out Crew. And if you like what the guys are doing, be a friend and tell some friends. I mean, it's your show! So like us on Facebook, follow us on twitter, and subscribe to our YouTube, and listen wherever you enjoy podcasts!
In this week's Interview Classic episode from five years ago (7-6-2017), PWTorch editor Wade Keller presents a special edition of the Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Podcast with a new lengthy introduction by Mick Karch discussing the three generations of Hennigs – Larry, Curt, and Joe (a/k/a Curtis Axel) – with a journey through their careers. Then we present an all-star panel discussion from this summer's George Tragos/Lou Thesz Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame with Jim Ross, J.J. Dillon, Stan Hansen, Baron Von Raschke, and Larry “The Axe” Hennig himself.
Welcome back! This time around you all get to hear us dissect Against All Odds, and the show was about just as terrible as a dissection so I'd say it works out pretty well. We get Abyss vs Rhino (AGAIN), another triple threat between Daniels, Styles, and Joe, and we get a new world champion! But onto something that actually interested us, this AWA show was great. Shawn Michaels, Curt Hennig, Baron Von Raschke, Afa, Jerry Lawler, and many more big names were on this show and goddammit pal, was it some good ol' fashion pro wrasslin'. They really don't do wrestling like they used to. But you can hear us gush about that yourselves. Check us out! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/takingliberties/support
Who are the best villains in AWA history? There is no shortage of rulebreakers over the territory's history. This week Mick Karch and George Schire make a list of those that fit the definition of a "heel." What makes a good one? What were they like outside of the ring? And did fans ever try and test their toughness against them? It's a fun list that includes The Crusher, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, Jerry Blackwell, Baron Von Raschke, Sheik Adnan Al Kaissie and a ton more!
On today's Boogie, historian Timothy Styles and wrestler "Cut Throat" Cody Hancock discuss the lead-in and lead-out of AEW Dynamite, COVIDmania, Randy Orton, quality over quantity, and Tony Khan buying Ring of Honor. PWTorch editor Wade Keller presents the a special Interview Friday with three distinct segments with Triple H, Nick "Eugene" Dinsmore, and Beth Phoenix.-The first segment features Triple H's media conference call after NXT's debut on USA Network. He talked about the thought process that went into what to feature on the USA Network debut, Vince McMahon's involvement and reaction, whether the Full Sail venue is sufficient in the long-run for a national cable show setting, how the show was structured differently because of the split between USA and WWE Network, whether NXT is still developmental, utilizing cruiserweight on the show, and more.-Then comes an interview Wade Keller and Bruce Mitchell conducted on July 26, 2019 which has never been heard before with Nick "Eugene" Dinsmore which was recorded in front of a live audience at the George Tragos/Lou Thesz Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame Weekend events in Waterloo, Iowa. at the Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center. People such as Bobby Heenan, Bobo Brazil, Baron Von Raschke, Ivan Koloff, and The Blackjacks all were staples with the territory in its time. We'll sit down with a few of the people that worked for the WWA to get their insights on this great territory.
