Send us a textRick and I worked together while in the Office of Internal Affairs. He was our Captain, and the Chief's Executive Officer. Later, we met back up at the academy. I had escaped from IA and he was given the plush assignment right before he retired as a reward for a job well done under more stressful assignments.I enjoy his company, so much so, that we had to meet on two separate occasions just to get this episode in the books! Rick, thank you for being willing to put yourself out there and hang out for a few hours. Your feedback of the show mean a lot to me, my only hope is that the service I provided to you in recording this permanent legacy was just as invaluable.Folks, give him a a Choir Practice welcome and enjoy the show!!! Send us a textI'm so glad I was able to have Sean on the show. His upbringing and pathway to this branch of Law Enforcement has to be one of the most unique yet! He served several years in the Navy before being hired and working for the AZ Dept. of Corrections in Safford and Douglas, AZ. Ultimately he was hired by Pima County where his career took off. He helped create Security Services which tracked gangs and gang activity within the jail. This was such a goldmine of information, not only did he become a subject matter expert for prosecutors, he became a tremendous resource to investigators on the streets as well. Now, he travels across the US, teaching jailers and helping agencies write policy to prevent lawsuits. Give him a warm, Choir Practice, welcome and enjoy the show! Send us a textDan's father was a Phoenix Police Officer back in the 80's which was Dan's introduction to that life. As a young man, he had the same start in law enforcement that many of us have, Corrections. He kept applying and was picked up by Mohave County on the AZ/CA border! A couple moves later he settled at AZ Liquor Control. As a member of this agency, he learned of Liquor Agent Alfred Moore who had been killed in the line of duty back in the 60's but was never "Nationally Recognized" as having been killed in the line of duty. I found Dan's recounting of his efforts to get the error corrected to be very honorable.Turn it up, tell a friend, and enjoy this week's episode of Choir Practice!Come see me on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/choir.practice.94 or on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/cp_sfaf/
Send us a textShawn grew up right here in the "Old Pueblo" and attended Salpoint HS before heading to the University of Arizona. He decided to enlist in the full-time Navy and, after his "sentence" as he mistakenly said, he decided to join the Pima County Sheriff's Department after a ride along experience convinced him this was the profession for him...He spent years on the Search and Rescue Unit, Mental Health Support Unit and ultimately became a Detective where he worked hand in hand with a future Choir Practice guest, Corrections Lt. Sean Stewart.I had a great time listening to his stories and getting to know Shawn, I can't wait for The Squad to get to know him as well!!! A fantastic episode with Mark and his special guests Sally Shamrell Murphy and husband Glen.Sally's LA and Media career leading into filmmaking with their new company called 'Flat Dog Films LLC'. The guys are successful entrepreneurs with Glen & Sally buying the infamous Jonathan's Cork restaurant now renamed The Cork" in Tucson Arizona. The movie is Choir Practice lookout for it! Whereas Utah and New Mexico are getting major production houses built and producing films, Sally and Glen are fighting to produce films in Tucson.
Santa was very good to me and brought me additional microphones and headphones so I could start inviting more than one guest to be on the show, creating a true Choir Practice environment. Maybe starting off with these two was a little reckless, JK, but in all honesty it was fun and a lot less difficult than this "one man band/ producer/host" thought it would be.Tune in, laugh and take away the little nuggets of wisdom sprinkled in here...yes, even from these two there is some wisdom!

At your request, we're bringing back Choir Practice. What is it? It's an old cop term for the get-together that occurred after a patrol shift. It was a time where cops shared the humor and the trauma of what happened during their day. It's going to happen on the First Monday of every month in 2024. 8pm Mountain Time and each month, we'll talk about what you want to talk about. I'll also have special guests on with me. This month we've invited attorney and podcaster Melanie Little, CourtTV Vinnie Politan and the survivor of an old missing persons case. I enjoyed this chat. We shared more stories from Larry's career but more importantly he gave a little tribute to his wife. It is my mission, the most important thing to me, that each guest know the episode is theirs and I want them to talk about the things in life, and career, that were significant to them. I'm honored to be the keeper of this platform, to provide an avenue for my friends to share, and it is absolutely motivating. We are now officially in the the third year of Choir Practice and I couldn't be more proud of how far we've come and where we're going...

I'm so grateful to Tim for having the courage to be on the show and share his story. I feel like his story resonates with so many public servants that you and I know, walking around us today. He spent nearly 20 years working in the trenches, faced some demons and is heroically battling them back as he comes to terms with his life after public service...and life is sweet. Not to say it is without challenges, but I love that he openly shared the different resources he used along the way and the One that has given him relief and sense of purpose. Please, give Tim the warmest Choir Practice welcome as the newest member of The Squad...Come visit me on Facebook (Look for the logo) or Instagram (@CP_SFAF) to see the weekly episode trailers the Sunday before each episode airs...Be safe out there!

Marty started his career as a cop in housing projects in Boston, as he said...a million years ago. He moved to several agencies before finding his home here in the Old Pueblo. He served with distinction and a Boston attitude! It is my honor to have him share his legacy on the show, I'm so glad he accepted my invite and hung out for a few hours. Please, give him a warm Choir Practice welcome and enjoy the show...Be safe out there y'all!
Welcome back to Choir Practice! There was no way we were going to be able to capture 30 years in law enforcement in just one episode! "The human rolodex" had to return to share more experiences, refute Charles Blue and Dan Lewis' claims and set the record straight! All kidding aside, I appreciate Mark for his willingness to be on the show, to share about his battle with cancer and share his experiences with you, "The Squad." As the host, however, I'm most excited that he now has this legacy where his kids, and grandkids, can listen in to his voice and hear about his professional life as a police officer. Enjoy the show, it was a great conversation and thanks for tuning in. Be safe out there!
Good morning Squad and welcome to another episode of Choir Practice! Today's guest, Jennifer Gastelum, is retired from Pima County Adult Probation and now started a life coaching business "Thin Blue Line Coaching" that helps first responders create healthy habits (mentally, physically, etc) and she works with "The Wounded Blue," a peer support training organization for police officers/ first responders.Give her a warm welcome to the squad and be safe out there!

The talk gets into the making of Kellarissa's new Voice Leading album, but also: hands-on career changes; Anne Garréta's 1986 Oulipan nightclub novel Sphinx; high school choirs; her first band's show at a mall photography exhibit; playing in bands like P:ano, Boring, the Choir Practice, and A Luna Red; and finding harmony in life, not just music. Kellarissa's Voice Leading sees release April 1 via Mint Records .
Although I knew of Jim, we were introduced to one another by Bill Hanson. He had quite the career with the Tucson Police, became a Constable and kept himself busy with several other ventures. He's currently working on a movie called...wait for it... Choir Practice! Our careers were very similar, I think you're going to like him. Please join me in welcoming Jim to the Squad, be safe out there.
Hershall, It happened... My niece, Mariah Brock was on the podcast at last. We started off the episode with her leading us in a little bit of Christmas choir music. Speaking (or technically typing) of music, this service is filled with music. Some festive (big sounding word) and some other is all I'll say. We had some mighty fine feedback. If you would like to be a part of the feedback segment email us at devin@podnme.org. Find us on Instagram @podn_me. Enjoy!
Since the launch of Choir Practice, it has expanded and become more available on multiple platforms. I'm excited about your response to the show and have new guests coming! Stay tuned...
