Rhiannon is joined by two organizers from the Palestinian Youth Movement to talk about the Mask off Maersk campaign which targets logistics giant: Maersk. Maersk has delivered millions of pounds of military cargo to Israel over the course of the genocide. We talk about Maersk's bloody history, the reporting that exposed Maersk's role in genocide and the disruption that caused in the supply chain, and how longterm, sustained organizing like the Mask Off Maersk campaign is needed to confront the structures upholding zionism and build a people's arms embargo. The Mask Off Maersk campaign employs a diversity of tactics which have already led to tangible wins. Just this past week, protesters blocked and occupied Maersk headquarters in Copenhagen, demanding that Maersk stop transporting military cargo to Israel and end all contracts with the Israeli Ministry of Defense. Sponsored by the World Zionist Organization, this lively event is hosted by Yonatan Vendriger and contains remarks by Ariel Wiss of the Israeli Ministry of Education. It is essentially a contest amongst amateur Tanach experts (the selections are taken from both Prophets and the Writings, in addition to the Torah) who have to answer non-multiple choice questions about quotes from the Hebrew Bible. Their erudition is stunning, and eventually a winner and a runner-up emerge and are crowned. Also, there are several musical performances by singer Gilad Paz (accompanied by keyboardist Moshe Elmakias), including Hatikvah at the end, as well as classic Israeli hits throughout the contest (such as "Hineni Kan" by Yehoram Gaon). Shnayor Burton, a past champion and familiar face to fans of the Bible Contest, returns as a judge. The head judge is Aure Ben-Zvi Goldblum, a specialist in Biblical Hebrew. Recorded at Congregation Shearith Israel in Manhattan.

BUFFALO, NY- November 12, 2024 – A new #research paper was #published in Aging (listed by MEDLINE/PubMed as "Aging (Albany NY)" and "Aging-US" by Web of Science), on October 24, 2024, Volume 16, Issue 20, titled, "Development and validation of an electronic frailty index in a national health maintenance organization." The study, led by researchers Fabienne Hershkowitz Sikron, Rony Schenker, Yishay Koom, Galit Segal, Orit Shahar, Idit Wolf, Bawkat Mazengya, Maor Lewis, Irit Laxer and Dov Albukrek from Meuhedet Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) in collaboration with colleagues from the Joint-Eshel Organization and the Israeli Ministry of Health, introduces the Meuhedet Electronic Frailty Index (MEFI)—a digital tool designed to assess frailty in older people and identify those most at risk for serious health outcomes, such as hospitalization or death. As people live longer, identifying those at higher risk for health complications is essential to maintaining quality of life in older age. Frailty, a condition marked by increased vulnerability to adverse health outcomes, has emerged as a crucial predictor of health deterioration in older people. While frailty assessment tools exist, this study adapts and validates an Electronic Frailty Index (EFI) tailored specifically to Israeli data and healthcare infrastructure, enabling more targeted and culturally relevant assessments. The MEFI was developed using data from 120,986 individuals aged 65 and older, comprising different indicators, including physical, social, and cognitive deficits. The index classifies individuals as "fit," "mildly frail," "moderately frail," or "severely frail" and is integrated into Israel's electronic health records system. Researchers found that patients with higher MEFI scores faced significantly increased risks of hospitalization or mortality within one year, with risk levels rising fourfold for the most frail compared to those classified as fit. According to the authors, “The findings also showed that the MEFI version we created is valid in predicting mortality or hospitalization and had better predictive accuracy compared to CCI,” underscoring its reliability in assessing health risks. This integration enables Meuhedet HMO to implement proactive and preventive care measures across its network. Beyond predicting hospitalization and mortality, the MEFI's alignment with Israel's National Social Security benefit system reinforces its validity and practical use. As the authors note, “As a health maintenance organization, our mandate is to help our patients live longer and better. Using the MEFI as part of routine primary care may help us achieve this goal.” By focusing on early intervention for those most at risk, MEFI could significantly impact health maintenance costs and enable clinicians to allocate resources more effectively. This new EFI version positions Israel at the forefront of frailty research, and its success could pave the way for other countries with similar healthcare systems to adopt or adapt the approach. Future steps include integrating MEFI as a routine part of primary care in Israel to ensure timely intervention and support as patients age. In summary, MEFI is a powerful tool that empowers Israel's healthcare system to identify and support older adults most in need, marking a significant advancement in caring for an aging population. WATCH THE CONVERSATION ON YOUTUBE: https://youtu.be/2yK4Ag_Ca2g As we have just passed the grim one-year anniversary of 10/07, we continue our dedicated series in which we take a longer horizon perspective, asking one guest each week to look back at this past year and the year ahead. If you are listening to this episode on a podcast app, please note that this episode was filmed in a studio and is also available in video form on our YouTube channel. For the fifth installment of this special series, we sat down with Dr. Tal Becker, who serves as Vice President and Senior Faculty of the Kogod Research Center at Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem. Tal was the former Legal Adviser of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He is a veteran member of successive Israeli peace negotiation teams and, most recently, represented Israel before the International Court of Justice and played an instrumental role in negotiating and drafting the historic peace and normalization agreements (the "Abraham Accords"). Tal earned his doctorate from Columbia University in New York City, and is the recipient of numerous scholarly awards, including the Rabin Peace Prize, and the Guggenheim Prize for best international law book for his book "Terrorism and the State". Finally, we have received a number of requests for recommendations of organizations in Israel to donate to around this one-year anniversary of 10/07. There are so many organizations doing important work to help Israelis rebuild from the events of the last year — and the ongoing war. This list is by no means comprehensive. It is simply an opportunity to highlight four groups whose work has moved us and who deserve additional support (we will add additional recommendations in the days ahead): -IDF Widows & Orphans Organization (IDFWO), an Israeli non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the spouses and children of Israel's fallen heroes. They provide emotional care, financial assistance, educational opportunities, and a community for those affected most by Israel's wars. — https://www.idfwo.org/en/ -Since October 8, Hezbollah has fired thousands of rockets, anti-tank missiles, and explosive UAVs at Israeli civilian and military targets in the north. As worries mount, Rambam Medical Center has cared for the wounded and prepared for war. This 1,100-bed medical center in Haifa has transferred its critical medical care to an underground emergency hospital. Rambam's underground hospital – capable of housing 8,000 people — will play a critical role going forward in treating wounded soldiers and civilians; protecting and caring for the needs of medical staff and their families; and protecting and caring for the residents of Israel's Northern Region. — https://aforam.org/ -Leket Israel, Israel's largest food rescue operation, is committed to leading the safe, effective and efficient collection and distribution of surplus nutritious food in Israel to those who need it. To pick just one inspiring example: since October 7th, Leket has committed itself to providing healthy food to the 250,000 displaced Israelis, many of whom have been residing in hotels for the last year. Leket has installed produce stands in hotels across Israel, providing evacuees with a consistent supply of fresh fruit and vegetables, free of charge, which Leket purchases from struggling Israeli growers. — https://www.leket.org/en/ -Kav L'noar's therapy services have provided essential psychological support to communities in the South directly impacted by the war and the October 7th massacre. Their therapeutic interventions are tailored to address the unique emotional and psychological challenges faced by individuals affected by the war, empowering survivors to navigate the aftermath, rebuild resilience, and foster a sense of collective strength. — https://www.kavlnoar.org/israelatwar
The Middle East is teetering on the precipice of major upheaval as the Islamic Republic of Iran and its proxies have ignited a devastating multi-front war against Israel and the West. An axis of authoritarian countries are working closely to create chaos in Europe and the Middle East. Regional dynamics are undeniably shuffling as the terrorist groups on Israel's borders and their financiers in Tehran grow more emboldened. Meanwhile, the US is attempting to restrain Israel from taking direct action against Iran and Hezbollah, fearing that one miscalculated move may tip the scale. Moreover, efforts by the United States, Qatar, and Egypt to broker a hostage deal seem to be moving one step forward and two steps back. These dynamics present unprecedented challenges to the U.S.-Israel security relationship. This critical moment demands strategic planning and raises several key questions: What are the implications of this escalating crisis for the U.S.-Israel security dynamic, and how might it impact the broader regional stability? How does the shifting global balance of power affect U.S.-Israeli relations and American interests in the Middle East? What adjustments might Israel need to make in the wake of October 7 and its war against Hamas? What weapon system and munitions challenges does the U.S. face as the “arsenal of democracy”? And finally, what lessons are to be learned from the ongoing wars with regard to intelligence reliability, deterrence, and conflict management? To explore these questions, FDD will host a panel discussion with MG (Ret.) Amir Eshel, FDD Senior Fellow and former Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defense; Eyal Hulata, FDD Senior International Fellow and former Israeli National Security Advisor and Head of Israel's National Security Council; RADM (Ret.) Mark Montgomery, Senior Director of FDD's Center on Cyber and Technology Innovation; and Jonathan Schanzer, FDD Senior Vice President for Research. The conversation will be moderated by Katie Pavlich, editor for Townhall.com and Fox News contributor.

TODAY'S EPISODE: As Independence Day was winding down in Israel, I sat down for a conversation with Tal Becker in Jerusalem to discuss the deep uncertainty in Israeli society: we don't know when or if the hostages will return home, we don't when or if Hamas will be defeated, or even when or if the 100,000 displaced Israelis will return to their homes in the South and in the North. We don't know if a war with Hezbollah is next, and we certainly don't know if and what could be a long term solution for the Palestinian conflict with Israel or Iran's conflict with Israel. Dr. Tal Becker serves as a senior fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem and was the former Legal Adviser of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Israel has accused the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) of being involved in the October 7th attacks. “October 7th was a gamechanger. Because the involvement, direct involvement, of those 13 UNRWA employees in the October 7th attacks on Israel changed everything,” said Nina Ben-Ami, Head of Bureau, International Organizations and UN Division, Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Inside Geneva looks at what's at stake. UNRWA head Philippe Lazzarini says: “Today the needs are absolutely staggering in the Gaza Strip."UNRWA has fired the employees under suspicion, but its major donors have cut funding, even before the formal UN investigation into Israel's allegations is completed. UNRWA has 13,000 staff in Gaza, providing schools and clinics. “Even if the allegations are true, that's no justification for cutting off funding for the most important aid and relief agency in the Gaza Strip,” says Louis Charbonneau, UN Director at Human Rights Watch. Can other aid agencies step up if UNRWA has to stop? Jan Egeland, Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council: “All of the non-governmental organisations, all of the Red Cross, Red Crescent organisations, all of the UN agencies combined, we're not even half of what UNRWA is for Gazan society.” Where does this leave the 1.5 million Gazans now crammed into Rafah? Jan Egeland, Secretary General of the Norwegian Refugee Council, explains that “Israel is thinking of going in with a bloody ground offensive. We would hold the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany and all of these other countries providing the arms to this…we will hold them accountable for what is going to happen in Rafah.”“UNRWA remains the only lifeline in a region full of despair. A region which now deserves that we collectively look at promoting a proper genuine peaceful political solution,” concludes Lazzarini. In this episode of Occupied Thoughts, FMEP Fellow Rabea Eghbariah speaks with Sarah Anne Minkin, FMEP's Director of Programs & Partnerships, about his former client Attiya Nabaheen, a Palestinian teenager from Gaza who sued the Israeli Ministry of Defense for compensation for injuries caused by Israeli soldiers while he was walking, unarmed, on his family's land in late 2014, during a time of ceasefire, or "status quo." Deciding against Attiya, the Israeli Supreme Court "set a chilling precedent such that no one in Gaza can seek compensation for any damages caused by Israel," as Rabea Eghbariah wrote in a recent New York Times op-ed. This conversation discusses the case and its implications for Gazans and Palestinians more broadly. After surviving four wars in Gaza, Attiya Nabaheen was killed, along with his family, in an Israeli airstrike on October 8th. In the latest Ipsos poll, 72 percent of Canadians want Trudeau to exit federal politics and leave as leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. Ipsos says that number is up from 60 percent in September. Even within his own party, 33 percent of Liberal supporters would like Trudeau to resign. That's consistent with other recent polls that show the Conservative Party of Canada, under its leader Pierre Poilievre, 19 percentage points ahead of the Liberals and headed for one of the larger majority governments in Canadian history. Nanos Research founder Nik Nanos described what the Liberals need to stand a chance in the next federal election is a "complete reboot." "Either with a new leader or… Justin Trudeau with a renewed vision of why he believes that he should deserve another mandate," Nanos said in a recent episode of CTV News Trend Line. Canadians have even taken to the internet to try to remove Trudeau from office through the traditional legislative process. As of Monday morning, more than 175,000 Canadians have signed a petition for a vote of non-confidence in the House of Commons against the minority Liberal government. The petition is sponsored by MP Michelle Ferreri (CPC-Peterborough-Kawartha) and reads: "The policies of this government aren't aligning with the crisis Canada is facing: housing costs, infringement of civil liberties, highest inflation in history, unbalanced immigration policies, taxation to the point of poverty, weakening of our economy by importing natural resources that Canada already has and under-utilizes; and based on the past eight years of this Prime Minister, Canadians do not have confidence in this Prime Minister, after five ethics investigations and Canada's reputation being tarnished on a global scale under his leadership. To the extent that Canada is being discluded from participating in statements regarding important geopolitical events." Sen. Percy Downe, a Liberal who was chief of staff to former Prime Minister Jean Chretien, recently wrote that it is time Trudeau left office. Trudeau laughed off the appeal. There is considerable doubt that his departure would save the Liberals' fortunes in the next federal election. Trudeau's father, Pierre Trudeau, who was prime minister of Canada from 1968-1984 with the exception of a nine-month period in 1979 when a minority Progressive Conservative government was in power, famously took "a walk in the snow" on Feb. 28, 1984 when he decided to leave politics. He announced his resignation the following day, Feb. 29 – a date that only occurs on a leap year. https://www.foxnews.com/media/doctor-treating-freed-hamas-hostages-reveals-unprecedented-abuse-rewrite-textbooks Doctor treating freed Hamas hostages reveals unprecedented abuse: 'We have to rewrite the textbooks' A doctor treating freed Hamas hostages in Israel says survivors are suffering from an unprecedented level of "extremely severe psychological abuse" endured during captivity. "I can tell you that on behalf of all the medical and psychological teams treating those who return, the mental states we encountered have no precedent in medical literature. We feel that we have to rewrite the textbooks of post-trauma," Dr. Renana Eitan told "Sunday Night in America." Eitan revealed the Tel Aviv Medical Center is actively treating more than 15 former hostages and described their "severe physical and mental abuse." "Those held captive were subject to starvation, to beating, to sexual abuse. They were being held in inhumane sanitary conditions. Extremely severe psychological abuse was inflicted on them, including separation from family members, separation of siblings, separation of children from their mothers. They were held in solitary confinement and spent long days in total darkness until they developed severe hallucinations," Eitan claimed. "Children were forced to watch brutal videos. They were under constant threats by weapons and threats to harm them even after they were released. They refer to the forced use of psychiatric drugs and other substances." Eitan also detailed cases where individuals, though appearing physically unharmed, are dealing with "severe post-traumatic symptoms." "Some of the home comers, they look happy, they look fine, they look physically fine, and we try to hold on to those optimistic signs, but still, even those who seem fine, we know that most of them [are] suffering from severe post-traumatic symptoms, they have painful, traumatic memories. And they are entering into dissociative states, where for a moment they feel as if they are still in captivity and only later do they return to the understanding that they have been released," she said. This week marks two months since the Hamas terror attack on Israel which left 1,200 dead and 240 held hostage. According to the Israeli Ministry of Health, 73 Israelis and 24 foreign citizens have been released from Hamas to date. Eitan urged the release of the remaining hostages "as soon as possible" as they face a long road ahead of physical and mental rehabilitation. https://www.breitbart.com/2nd-amendment/2023/12/04/israeli-security-minister-we-are-approving-up-to-3000-gun-license-applications-day/ Israeli Security Minister: We Are Approving ‘Up to 3,000’ Gun License Applications A Day Israel Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir says his ministry is now approving “up to 3,000” gun license applications a day. The Times of Israel quoted Ben Gvir saying, “When the war started, we knew that we were right when we said that every place that has a weapon can save a life.” He went on to say, “My policy within the office was to permit as many people as possible to get a weapon…[and] in a short period of time, we were giving up to 3,000 approvals a day.” Ben Gvir indicated over 260,000 gun license applications have been approved since October 7, 2023. On November 15, 2023, Breitbart News pointed to a Times of Israel report which indicated over 236,000 gun license applications had been filed in Israel at that point in time. In mid-November roughly 1,700 applications were being approved daily, and the number of daily approvals has nearly doubled since then. Breitbart News noted that an armed civilian opened fire Thursday on terrorists who attacked a Jerusalem bus stop. Two off-duty soldiers opened fire as well and the terrorists were killed. https://thepostmillennial.com/arlington-home-explodes-after-suspect-sets-off-flares-as-police-serve-search-warrant?utm_campaign=64487 Arlington home explodes after suspect sets off flares as police serve search warrant On Monday, a home in the Bluemont neighborhood of Arlington, Virginia exploded as police were attempting to serve a search warrant following reports that a flare gun had been fired from within earlier in the evening. While three members of law enforcement suffered minor injuries, the fate of the suspect, who is believed to have been in the home at the time, has not been revealed. According to the Arlington County Police Department, officers were called to a duplex on the 800 block of North Burlington Street around 4:45 pm to investigate reports that someone had "discharged a flare gun 30 - 40 times from inside his residence into the surrounding neighborhood." While his actions did not result in any injuries or property damage, officers nonetheless obtained a search warrant and tried to make contact with him via telephone and loudspeaker. Their attempts proved fruitless, and the suspect remained "barricaded" inside. At around 8:25 pm, he "discharged several rounds" from what authorities believe was a firearm, resulting in the aforementioned explosion. The blast sent shockwaves through the surrounding area as residents watched debris fly into the air and the structure burn to the ground. The fire department arrived on the scene a short time later, and by 10:30 pm, the blaze was extinguished. While police have not released the name of the suspect, local outlet ARLNow has reported that public records show the resident of the now-leveled home to be a man named James Yoo. According to Newsweek, Yoo's social media posts were reportedly filled with rants about the government, the police, and his own neighbors, who he repeatedly labeled "spies," suggesting they had fake identities and were assigned to monitor him for their "handlers." His YouTube channel included videos with pictures from his LinkedIn page depicting people he claimed were his neighbors entering and leaving their homes, according to the outlet. One of Yoo's neighbors, Alex Wilson, told ARLNow that he kept to himself and often had his windows covered with aluminum foil. Yoo also allegedly chased away prospective buyers with a knife while his house was on the market.

It's time to light our candles, fill our donuts with jelly, and spin our dreidels. American Jewry's favorite Jewish holiday is here! Hanukkah. Channukah? Chanukkah? Which spelling do you go by? Regardless, this time is marked by festive parties, gift exchanges, and family time. With the international crisis of the Jewish identity, with the war in Israel raging on, we need this positivity for our mental health's sake! No less, one has to ask themselves "What is the origin of this holiday?" When looking deeper into the Channukah story, one can't help but find parallels between the Maccabee's actions of the past and extremists today. Does this mean we're celebrating the actions of a violent clan of Jewish mobsters? Was our favorite childhood holiday a giant lie? Jay Hoffman, better known as Sephardic Soul by his Instagram, takes a break from teaching children at a Hebrew school in New York to teach Chaz Volk, host of Bad Jew, who the Maccabees actually were and how their actions compare to today's current events. Dr. Yaron discusses the strategic and moral dilemmas faced by Israel in dealing with groups like Hamas and the challenges in differentiating between combatants and civilians. He emphasizes the need to combat extremist groups aiming to establish an Islamic state and the importance of military action to achieve this. Christopher notes that many veterans, like Colin Powell, become peacemakers later in life and discussed the heroic efforts of civilians in the conflict. But Dr. Yaron responds that the situation isn't about pursuing peace but dealing with an ongoing conflict. Dr. Giora Yaron on Cultural Differences and how it affects perception in the West Dr. Yaron shares his concerns about the disconnect between Western sympathies for Palestinians and the harsh realities faced by Israelis due to terrorist attacks. He emphasizes the need for a practical approach and shared personal experiences, such as Mellanox's tragic incident, to illustrate the challenges faced in pursuing peace in the region. He further underscores the complexities of the situation and the clash between idealistic hopes for peace and the harsh realities on the ground. How can one little strip of land be worth so much trouble and so many lives? Uri Steinberg is a ninth generation Israeli. He is also a father. His service for the government and work with the Israeli Ministry of Justice never prepared him for the injustice of October 7, 2023. For hundreds of Israeli children, Saturday morning cartoons became a real-life horror story played out as their parents, friends, and family were murdered or kidnapped. Caught by surprise and suffering massive casualties, Steinberg describes the inhumane and immoral work of Hamas but is also quick to point to the hope and resilience formed in the heart of the Israeli people by a covenant-making and covenant-keeping God. Steinberg, joined by Pastor Wendell Vinson, know this war as a battle of darkness and light. Demonic at its core, forces of evil will ever strive to destroy God's people. As influencers, we must be informed, wise, prayerful and involved. Listen as Steinberg and Vincent lay out strategies that place us where God can use us in this battle. What does it mean for us to be connected to, and maybe even responsible for, people in other countries who we don't know and with whom we might not agree? In recent years, Israel has faced a critical problem as certain NGOs, funded by foreign countries, have been accused of supporting terror and advocating for the destruction of Israel. Last week, the government, led by Prime Minister Netanyahu, introduced legislation aimed at preventing these NGOs from receiving tax reductions. The intention behind this move was to deter foreign countries from supporting Palestinian NGOs with questionable affiliations. However, the proposed law ignited an uproar among EU states, further highlighting the complex and sensitive nature of the issue. Amidst this landscape, NGO Monitor has emerged as a prominent initiative shedding light on the actions and influence of international NGOs in the Arab-Israeli conflict. Founded by Professor Gerald Steinberg, a distinguished political scientist, NGO Monitor aims to provide critical analysis and distribute reports on the work of these NGOs. By doing so, they seek to promote transparency and provide necessary context in an often complex and polarizing environment. Today, we are honored to have Professor Gerald Steinberg as our guest. With a background in political science and extensive experience as a consultant to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Israeli National Security Council, Professor Steinberg is a leading authority on the subject. As the founder and president of NGO Monitor, he brings a wealth of knowledge and insights into the motivations and impact of NGOs working against Israel. Join us as we delve into this important topic and gain a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding NGOs in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

[photos in the collage were taken by Guy Smallman, Callum Ford, and Martin Pope or otherwise found on Palestine Action's social media] In this episode we interview co-founder of Palestine Action, Huda Ammori. Ammori has organized against British complicity in the colonization of Palestine and against British support for the Israeli colonial apartheid regime in historic Palestine for years now. Palestine Action is an organization born out of that struggle. One that recognizes the need to take direct action approaches. Their core campaign, is the campaign to Shut Elbit Down (#ShutElbitDown). Elbit Systems is Israel's largest privately-owned arms company. It's largest single customer is the Israeli Ministry of Defense. In this episode Ammori shares some of her organizing history, her experience exhausting the modes of redress available through lobbying and protest, and the rationale behind Palestine Action's targeting of Elbit Systems. It is noteworthy that while Palestine Action has targeted Elbit in the UK, that there are a number of Elbit Systems facilities in the US, and that in addition to the deplorable and brutal violence that they enact in occupied Palestine, they are also a major contractor for Border Patrol and components of the US-Mexico border wall. This is a great conversation about an important ongoing campaign and we hope folks will listen in for ways they can act in solidarity and to consider some of the tactical and strategic considerations Ammori talks through as well. It is noteworthy of course that the British legal system is different from the US legal system, so obviously nothing that's discussed here should be considered legal advice. But the general point that Ammori makes about the difference between the legal and military framework that Palestinians are subjected to in Palestine versus the legal systems within the imperial core is still an important strategic consideration for movements that seek to be in solidarity with people in Palestine. Make sure to check out Palestine Action's website and follow them on social media to stay current with their campaign, and their legal cases and to look for ways to support and get involved. All of which we'll discuss further in the episode and include some links in the show notes. US Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart says he will unseal some of the procedural filings currently under seal on the search warrant docket. “I am not prepared to find that the affidavit should be fully sealed,” the judge said, meaning that, at minimum, some of the affidavit will be revealed. “According to the judge’s comments, the filings are the Department of Justice’s motion to seal the warrant documents, the order granting that sealing request, and the criminal cover sheet,” CNN reported. Jay Bratt, a Justice Department lawyer, argued that allowing the public to read the affidavit would “provide a roadmap to the investigation,” and would indicate the next steps in the probe. “In this case, the court has found probable cause there’s a violation of one of the obstruction statutes, and that evidence of obstruction would be found at Mar-a-Lago” said Jay Bratt, who heads the Justice Department’s counterintelligence section. “In the interest of TRANSPARENCY, I call for the immediate release of the completely Unredacted Affidavit pertaining to this horrible and shocking BREAK-IN,” the former President said. “Also, the Judge on this case should recuse!” Judge Bruce Reinhart faced criticism and even threats after it was discovered that he had recused himself from a lawsuit involving Trump and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. He has also drawn scrutiny for switching from his job as a federal prosecutor to working as a defense attorney on behalf of individuals connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Last week, one of the personal attorneys for former President Donald Trump demanded to know why the judge who signed the warrant to search his private house had recused himself from a lawsuit against 2016 Democrat Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton. But if you were to ask infamous atheist Sam Harris, none of that would matter, since apparently, there is a higher principle at stake. https://twitter.com/alexandrosm/status/1560061984699064320?s=21&t=FldsDgPI4XM4BKaNDxtNBA In a recent interview, Harris said there could have been the corpses of children in Hunter Biden’s basement, and Sam Harris wouldn’t have cared. Even if all the rumors of Biden family corruption were true, it’s infinitesimal compared to the corruption of Trump (Trump University). Harris stunned his interviewers by insisting that it absolutely was a leftwing conspiracy to deny the presidency to Trump, but it was warranted. 0:00-1:15 It was warranted? Yes, Harris insisted: It doesn’t matter which part was conspiracy, which part was out in the open. If there was an asteroid heading for earth, you have to do whatever you have to do to stop it: 1:53-2:20 Well, but Sam, there’s a huge difference between the people electing the president and a meteor heading for earth. But notice what Sam Harris has done. He’s insisting that there is some higher moral principle guiding his corruption. He is allowed to cheer on whatever corruption it takes to keep Trump out of office. He is above the law. He knows what is best for this country. This is a great example of what Doug Wilson has said before, which is that whenever people deny the existence of God, they are always interested in the job opening. Sam Harris is famous for his atheism, but he is not actually interested in a godless society. Here he is insisting that sometimes you have to step in pull all the levers of power that you can in order to prevent Trump from taking office. Here’s a longer clip but you really do need to listen to it. Sam Harris says that Trump was so unfit for office it was necessary for those with levers of power to do what they could to prevent Hunter Biden’s laptop from being brought out at the 11th hour and jeopardizing Biden’s campaign against Trump: https://twitter.com/alexandrosM/status/1560061202885070849?s=20&t=N5Crf2WVMviXOyX68dmKpg Play the whole thing. Lockdowns claimed 20 times more lives than they saved https://www.wnd.com/2022/08/research-reveals-covid-lockdowns-claimed-20-times-lives-saved/ COVID-19 lockdowns could be responsible for claiming 20 times more lives than they were advertised to save, according to a new analysis published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health. The paper, which bases its conclusions on a comprehensive review of other relevant, lockdown-focused literature, was authored by researchers at the Jerusalem College of Technology. “In this work, we performed a narrative review of the works studying the above effectiveness, as well as the historic experience of previous pandemics and risk-benefit analysis based on the connection of health and wealth,” summarized the article, titled “Are Lockdowns Effective in Managing Pandemics?” “The comparative analysis of different countries showed that the assumption of lockdowns’ effectiveness cannot be supported by evidence—neither regarding the present COVID-19 pandemic, nor regarding the 1918–1920 Spanish Flu and other less-severe pandemics in the past,” argue the researchers. The team proceeds to quantify the estimated number of lives lost due to the COVID-19 mitigation measure, which drew strong support from Democrats and public health officials including Anthony Fauci, Deborah Birx, and Mike Pence: “the price tag of lockdowns in terms of public health is high: by using the known connection between health and wealth, we estimate that lockdowns may claim 20 times more life years than they save.” The paper also exposes how governments and international health organizations’ embrace of lockdowns was at odds with their stance on the public health policy prior to COVID-19. “It should be mentioned that the same conclusions—no clear benefit of lockdowns in case of pandemic—were made by national and international bodies before COVID-19 emerged. Namely, several governments prepared detailed plans of response to influenza- like pandemics years ago—see the programs of the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (2007) and the Israeli Ministry of Health (2007),” The paper doesn’t argue that lockdowns were merely ineffective; however, adding that they actually claimed the lives of the people public health officials claimed to be protecting. “The lockdown policies had a direct side effect of increasing mortality. Hospitals in Europe and USA were prepared to manage pretty small groups of highly contagious patients, while unprepared for a much more probable challenge—large-scale contagion. As a result, public health care facilities and nursing homes often became vehicles of contamination themselves—to a large extent because of the lockdown-based emergency policy implementation,” explained the paper, citing New York as an example. “While our understanding of viral transmission mechanisms leads to the assumption that lockdowns may be an effective pandemic management tool, this assumption cannot be supported by the evidence-based analysis of the present COVID-19 pandemic, as well as of the 1918–1920 H1N1 influenza type-A pandemic (the Spanish Flu) and numerous less-severe pandemics in the past,” concludes the paper. The findings follow the publication of other studies finding sizable drawbacks to lockdowns and other popular COVID-19 mitigation measures such as mask mandates.
