It's not every car company that also builds light tanks and a variety of aircraft, but Praga, the Prague-based company founded in 1907, is one such automaker. Having survived the perils of two world wars, Communist occupation, and the topsy-turvy market of the late 20th Century, Praga is poised to enter a new era with the initial production of the company's Praga Bohema road-legal hypercar in a dedicated facility in the Czech Republic. The stunning Bohema will be hand-built in very low numbers over the next four years. One of its calling cards is its incredible lightness of being. At less than 2,200 pounds, it offers one horsepower for every 3.14 pounds. Its 700 horsepower is impressive enough, even in this age of 1,000-horsepower electric cars, but that weight-to-power should result in a startlingly fast road car with remarkable handling. Praga says it “could well be the last all-new petrol-powered hypercar.” The $1.5 million all-carbon aero-driven two-seater built by Czech craftsmen is bound to pique hypercar collectors' interest. I recently had the honor of meeting and speaking with Dr. Chantrell Frazier about how she balanced showing up authentically in academia, navigating grief and loss while remaining motivated and inspired to complete her doctoral degree in biochemistry from Florida International University. (The following was written by Michelle Chernicoff) Chantrell Frazier grew up a competitive athlete but, when it came to her education, the only person she was trying to beat was herself. After earning her bachelor's degree at an HBCU–Savannah State University –Chantrell looked for a place to combine her passion for forensics and biochemistry. She applied for the PhD program at FIU and found a place in the Furton Research Lab. After her successful defense, she became the first Black woman at the university to earn her PhD in biochemistry. The Florida Education McKnight Fellow and Florida AGEP Pathways Alliance (FL-AGEP) scholar's groundbreaking research has received departmental funding and funding from the Dubai Police. Her work has sparked collaborative efforts within the FIU research community, as her optimized protocols have been applied to examine human odor profiles to understanding the odors that attract mosquitos. Chantrell was encouraged by a mentor to take up space as a woman of color in the field. She hopes she is the first of many to successfully defend their degrees. Her volunteer work includes the FIU Student Access and Success Center (SASC), the City of Miami Gardens, and mentorship of students on the secondary and tertiary level to conduct research at FIU. Upon graduation, Chantrell will join the faculty at Framingham State University in Massachusetts as a Postdoctoral Teaching Fellowship in Chemistry and hopes to encourage more women of color to pursue STEM fields. Popular on-chain sleuth, Zachxbt, has revealed information about another rug pull in the non-fungible token scene. In a Twitter thread, he exposed how French influencer and reality TV star Laurent Correira allegedly played a major role in the Billionaire Dogs Project. Billionaire Dog NFT rug pull The project launched in December 2021 with promotions from various influencers, including Correira, promising giveaways, and luxury cars to investors. Initially, it was meant to be a collection of 6500 NFTs selling for 0.1 ETH presale and 0.2 ETH public sales. 1/ Time for another $960k NFT rug this time involving Laurent Correia a popular French influencer with a reality TV show. zachxbt (@zachxbt) April 4, 2022 But the low interest in it meant they had to reduce the supply to 2000 NFTs. However, a week after the minting, the website and Discord server was deleted, and the team disappeared. If any hope of tracking the $960k proceeds from the project looked to have disappeared, Correira himself revived it. On-chain data reveals that Correira received more than $400k of the money in his public wallet. It was easy to trace this because he used the same wallet to buy NFTs, including a Mutant Ape, Doodle, and CloneX. He even posted the purchase on his social media while changing his Instagram profile picture to the NFT. Correira appears to be based in Dubai based on his social media activity and Zachxbt has tagged the Dubai Police on Twitter to bring him to justice. But the possibility of this remains slim, given the unregulated nature of NFTs. Was Correira more than an Influencer? This event again brings to the fore the need for regulations, especially for NFTs. In recent months, several influencers and celebrities have been involved in promoting NFT projects that eventually rug pulled. The prevalent use of influencer marketing by crypto projects explains why some countries, including Australia, are trying to regulate financial influencers. While Zachxbt might have exposed the entire project as a rug pull, previous revelations suggest that Correira was more of a mastermind than an influencer. As far back as January, a Dubai businessman named Mohammed Amin revealed the scam in an interview. Then, he accused Correira of deceiving him and other investors who bought the NFTs based on several promises. Correira, it was said, used his flashy social media life to lure them in, claiming that renowned personalities like Kanye West and Lebron James were involved. But he soon disappeared with their $500,000 worth of crypto invested into the project. Since then, Amin claimed that he, along with other victims, has been gathering evidence so they can file an action in the UAE. The new information from Zachxbt could further help their case.
