The Last Trip

Britt Lapthorne, a young backpacker from Australia, enjoyed her solo journey through Europe... until she reached Dubrovnik, Croatia. While at a nightclub with friends, she was separated from the group and never made it back to the hostel.   Almost three weeks later, her lifeless body was discovered in the Adriatic Sea.   While Croatia officially labeled it as a death resulting from "misadventure", compelling evidence suggests the possibility of murder.   Amidst swirling rumors, there are allegations of a police coverup, a mysterious call from her phone during the period she was missing, reports of other travelers encountering attempted abductions in the same vicinity, and a list of potential suspects.  The circumstances surrounding Britt Lapthorne's demise raise questions about the true nature of events leading to her tragic end. What transpired on that fateful night in Dubrovnik remains shrouded in uncertainty. Listen as we dive into Croatia, the case of Britt Lapthorne, and how to stay alive on vacation. The SOFC will reduce emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG) by about a further 30 percent compared with a conventional LNG engine without producing emissions of nitrogen oxides, sulphur oxides or fine particles.  It also offers the advantage of being compatible with LNG, as well as several low carbon fuels such as types of methanol, ammonia and hydrogen. This project will form the building block for future larger installations and the beginning of an even closer collaboration between MSC Cruises and Chantier de L'Atlantique on R&D of fuel cell technology. The traditional coin ceremony tradition took place as the keel was laid for MSC Cruises' second LNG-powered ship, MSC Euribia, which will be one of the most environmentally high performing contemporary vessels built in France. Anne Claire Juventin Responsible for Quality Control from the Chantiers de l'Atlantique, and Valentina Mancini, Brand Manager from MSC Cruises performed the traditional maritime ritual as godmothers representing the ship owner and the shipbuilder when they placed two coins under the keel as the historical sign of blessing and good fortune for the project, and the ship's operational life at sea.The float out of MSC World Europa, which will be the first LNG-powered vessel to join the MSC Cruises fleet took place at the shipyard in Saint-Nazaire where she will now be moved to a wet dock for work to continue on the ship until her delivery in November 2022.NCL Homeports in Panama City Norwegian Cruise Line, will become the first cruise line to homeport in Panama City, Panama, offering roundtrip Panama Canal voyages beginning 20 March 2022 with Norwegian Jewel.NCLK (Parent company of NCL) signed a multi-year agreement with the Panama Tourism Authority which allows the Company to seasonally homeport at the Colon Cruise Terminal as well as at Fuerte Amador Cruise Terminal located on the Pacific Ocean side of the country and adjacent to Panama City.In 2022 and 2023 the Company will offer 12 homeport voyages starting with Norwegian Jewel on 20 March 2022 where she will sail a nine-day itinerary traversing the Panama Canal and visiting incredible destinations including Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; Oranjestad, Aruba; Willemstad, Curaçao; Kralendijk, Bonaire and Cartagena, Colombia before arriving to the Caribbean side of Panama in the city of Colon.Starting 14 January 2023, Norwegian Gem will also feature select Panama Canal voyages including an 11-day journey visiting seven ports of call, including Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; Oranjestad, Aruba; Willemstad, Curaçao; Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic and Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos Islands before ending in New York City. More house music goodness from the freakin podcast series. This edition comes straight out of Romania from the excellent Gemini Brothers. Here's a little interview with the guys: What is the best thing about Romania? What is the scene like there? TGB: We believe that Romania still has a lot to learn; from how to manage itself as a country - politically speaking, to music/ fashion/ art culture! We have an incredible country: lovely and generous people which is the great ingredient to comfortably living here, fantastic fairy tales places like Black Sea seaside or Carpathians mountains, folk art, lovely and fresh food (the vegetables are still organic and the sheep or goat cheese - telemea is incredible)! Unfortunately, the music scene is quite small, if we refer to the entire Romania! But there is our capital Bucharest, which is in top with clubs and the clubbing scene, but Cluj or Timisoara are coming back with great clubs and the artists invited to play and perform! The bars and clubs are quite pretentious and commercial seems to gain a lot of attention, probably like everywhere, where people are going out only to show their clothes and latest cars or iphones! Still the underground clubs comes with strong and heavy competition with big names from the scene and the crowed is warm and starts to be very knowledgeable in this house music culture! Do you still live in Romania? Can your country be “heard” in your music? TGB: Yes, we are based near Bucharest, just moved out from the big city madness at the country side, which is better for inspiration and healthy. No cars, no sirens, no sidewalks, just cats and dogs around! We don't really use too many things from the Romanian folk traditional music; our inspiration is not quite Romanian. The Romanian folk music is multicultural, still popular and divided into regions, and the main and common instruments are violins, taragots (which was replaced by the saxophone lately), pipes, and accordions. There are as well big influences from the traditional music from tartars, Turkish and Bulgarian style and characterized by Balkans and Turkish rhythms. Maybe a little bit our drum parts have some small influence, but really small. What would you say were the biggest influences on your music? TGB: We listen a lot of music; from classical music (we have a rule by Monday to be the non-electronic music day), '70s psychedelic rock to ambient or hard techno. We're quite influenced these days by the acid techno from the 90s, some old Josh Wink or Baby Ford, but as well loving the 80s disco era. Nevertheless, some time ago we've produced some nu-funk releases and remixes, so James Brown, Johnny Hammond or Gil Scott Heron soul tracks were never missed in our iPod track-list. Lately we discovered more and more obscure artists and bands who were, in their side, been influenced by the Nordic disco from Todd Terje or Prins Thomas, as well Sir Andrew Weatherall or Ivan Smagghe have big places in our minds and souls for inspiration. What are your favourite tracks of the moment? TGB: (Ionut) - Gameboyz - Foco / (Razvan) - Pink Floyd - Echoes You have only been releasing your own productions relatively recently, how long were you djing before this? TGB: Well, we've started some time ago, in 2001, in one of the hottest places from Bucharest in those days, probably the best underground place ever - Web Club, which was owned by a Greek guy and friend of us. Here most of the old-skool DJs formed and performed. You could find here parties from hip-hop to techno or d’n’b. Lovely place and full of positive, inspirational, creative home! We used to play here only on vinyl, even if we didn't know at that time to sync too much, but was such a great fun and beautiful people! The production side came in time, some part came from frustrations that without productions nobody knows you, some came from ambition to play and produce for outside Romania and the possibility to be noticed exactly by the guys/artists you play in your sets. And is tested, we've started to be charted by the guys we love, etc. If we are looking back we're kind of sad that we didn't start to produce earlier, probably we’d be in a different place now, but is never too late to start doing your dream! What have been your favourite gigs and where would be your dream gig in the future? TGB: We had incredible gigs and experiences in London's Ministry of Sound and Electric Brixton or played in really great places like Budva - Montenegro and Dubrovnik - Croatia. We had as well really nice gigs in Romania. Cluj-Napoca has a perfect crowd, you can jump from disco to acid to house or electro and the people is jumping around! Is everything about the crowd, the warm people and how the dance-floor reacts, and there are a lot of places where the crowd is warm and sensational, and you have to believe me, all the big DJs who came in Romania said "we have to get back soon"! Our dream is to play in Ibiza and we did a small pact between us, never even visit the island until we go there to play! Of course another dream is to travel around the globe with music and gigs, love to comeback in US or playing in Australia! As well Asia has a really great scene! Shanghai is quite a target! What made you want to make the move from playing records to making them? Has this become more important than djing? TGB: As I've mentioned before, was all about some small frustration and ambition, but is more than that! You can play the best music, but without doing it is hard to achieve a place in this overfull DJs market. We loved some artists, we used to play them hard and never could stay or even get in contact with them. Of course this was behind our love for music! This is by default I think for every musician or producer. So, in these circumstances, we started first to make some remixes for some soul funk tracks! Believe us, we never been conscience about the artists we edit or remix, we loved the tracks as it was. They liked it and then we've started to do our own tracks and the feedback was unbelievable, those big guys who were our targets now start charting, playing, and supporting us! Now we are totally into productions, keen on finding our own sound, buying analogue equipment, but never let DJing on the second place! We love to play; we love clubs, turntables, art of mixing! We play quite often lately and what is great for us is that we used to travel outside Romania! How would you describe your productions? We think that our own sound is still in the development period, still many things to try, learn, experienced. Of course we have our funky background, and if you listen most of our tracks have guitars, funky bassline, and never thought to our tracks to have minimal lines. But lately we are very attracted by acid, deeper bass, wired atmosphere and crazy psychedelic disco. Probably in this line most of our future productions will sound! But never say never to test and do many other things. We have a project with some deep vocal house influences, so, never say never! Your Podcast for us is full of rolling electronics and dark acidic grooves. Is this typical of the sort of set you like to play out in a club? TGB: Well, depends a lot about the gig, club, atmosphere, crowd, warm-up, how many hours we play... We really made a podcast with things we like these days and we're influenced by, but our sets could be groovier or house, discoes or even techno. Is everything about reading the crowd! Of course, this is a podcast, but in club we never make a track-list before, we learned that until 2001 and still learning. What can we look forward to over the next year from Gemini Bros? Any big gigs or productions on the horizon? TGB: Good question, if 2013 was and still is a busy year from all the perspectives, production vs. gigs, 2014 will be for sure the cherry on the top. For this year is still planned to launch another two releases, one on vinyl and the other one digital for London's based label ISM Records and Home Breakin Records from Canada. As well we were involved in some remixes on vinyl and digital for some good names like Ursula 1000's new disco project Quentin Quatro, YamWho feat. Robert Owens and the list continue but we'd like to keep all the info until things are sorted and ready to get out! Gigs? Probably London and Croatia again, UK and Italy for the first time and the list goes on. The facebook page will be updated with all our gigs periodically, so give us a follow or a like! For years was this club in one basement almost every sunday morning, the last exit for partypeople! In 1994 he played for the first time in front of 3000 people at the WOODSTOCK Revival Festival in Ausburg/Halle 6, spinning records of that time. After his arrival, he continued his comercial path as DJ and owner of KRA-KRA ale-house (bar), until he become a leaseholder of the Sing-Sing Club where he finally discovered his love for Electric Music in 2002. Two years later he started to organize again After Partys in Ljubljana and introduced himself for the first time to the larger audience. At the After Party of SINDUSTRY 2004, which he organized himself he animated the audience together with DJ UMEK and DJ ALEKSIJ. In a very short period of time he started to play in Slovenian clubs as DJ, while organizing at the same time some of the significant After Partys as: SINDUSTRY 2004, MEET ME AFTER 2005, VALENTINO KANZYANI, DESYEN MASIELLO, DEEP DISH and similar. With almost 40 years of age and with 20 years of spinning and playing across Europe….he's not going to stop, as long the people will dance to his music! Keep on groovin'! Producer, DJ, Musician/Composer, and vocal… Tomy Declerque, Jackiedj, KayKay and Bawani. Four totally different spirits, it turned out, are stronger connected that it would seem at first sight. Diversity is not only good but its sometimes necessary and indispensable. That was the first lession members of Zero Absence and the Bawani Project won. Four people with different backgrounds, life styles and knowledge joined their forces, not only experiences but energy, expectation, wishes, goals, love for music and huge amount of time. First the Zero Absence was born, than the Bawani Project layed eyes on light of the world. Their first release shows they fell for new, fresh electro vibes. I Found a Star was born. The first creation of Z.A. feat Bawani project was more or less very unexpected success. In a week it occured on top 100 Chart on one of central Slovenian radio stations. It started on 33.th place and in only few weeks it rose to the 1. place where it is in the moment (jan 08) of creating first Biography of this artistic group. Critics were fabulous, response of audience enviable. The group performed life for the first time on Amnesia World Tour in leading Club in Ljubljana – Factory, back to back with some greatest artists as Mar T, Micah. Micah having world tour with Mar T honoured them with performing live with them. People loved it. Another success was presentation of I Found a Star on american portal ourstage.com where they reached 1st place among more than 400 entries and made it to quarter – finals. After first live performance I Found a Star was performed numerously in Slovenia, Croatia, Spain and Italy. A slightly new bit and vibes that carries their first-born is captured in second creation called »Don˙t«. The biggest sucess for Zero Absence, not only for Jackiedj himself, was to present the track at 6 gigs during the WMC 2008 in Miami.
