When a parent drops off their child at daycare, getting a phone call during the day is rarely a good thing. And for Tim Eaker, it was life-changing. On Valentine's Day in 2014, Tim received a call from daycare that his son could not breathe and was headed to the hospital in an ambulance. After a few weeks in the ICU, Piersen's medical team broke the news that his son Piersen had been shaken at the daycare, which caused massive brain damage and ultimately led to a cerebral palsy diagnosis. This event caused Piersen's brain to go without oxygen for roughly 7 minutes, leading to all his current disabilities that require around-the-clock care. I'm so thankful that Tim was generous enough with his time to share his perspective as a dad walking beside his son with disabilities originating from abuse and to spread awareness about Shaken Baby Syndrome and the enormous impact it can have on a child's life. Tim has been coaching and mentoring for 25 years, and his two sons give him the motivation and willingness to share his story with the hope that he can make the path a little easier for those walking a similar journey. U.S. gymnast Kara Eaker's coach has confirmed that the 18-year-old alternate has tested positive at the Olympic training camp.  The coach said the 18-year-old Eaker was vaccinated against the novel coronavirus two months ago.  U.S. tennis player Coco Gauff has also tested positive for the coronavirus, forcing her to pull out of the games.  A third athlete at the Olympic Village in Tokyo has tested positive for COVID-19, with the Czech Republic team reporting the case today of a beach volleyball player who could miss his first game.

Jason Eaker is the Head Coach at Oklahoma Baptist University and he shares his coaching journey. He started off playing for five different Head Coaches during his playing career at multiple colleges. Upon graduation he reunited with the Bob Hoffman - the Head Coach who recruited him to play for him at OBU. He served as his Video Coordinator at Texas Pan-America before going with him to be on staff at Oklahoma under Kelvin Sampson. Coach Eaker served as a Graduate Assistant for a year before being hired at Liberty University. He spent eight years at Liberty serving under three different Head Coaches [Randy Dunton, Dale Layer, and Ritchie McKay] and met his wife there. Coach Eaker is a religious person and so being at Liberty University was a perfect fit. Just like so many in coaching, Coach Eaker didn't leave Liberty on his own terms, he was arrested. He speaks very openly about the circumstances and how it changed his life. Again he would reunite with Bob Hoffman, he joined his coaching staff at Mercer and they experienced lots of success! Episode 183 Jason Eaker joined Oklahoma Baptist as their head men’s basketball coach in April 2018. Eaker, who spent one season in a Bison uniform before finishing his playing days at Hardin-Simmons University, grew up coming to OBU games. His father, Allen Eaker, is an OBU Athletics Hall of Famer who played on the 1966 OBU national championship basketball team. Eaker came to OBU from Mercer, where he has been an assistant coach since 2013. He has 15 years of coaching experience, including nine years as a NCAA Division I assistant coach. He has been in the postseason six times with three different programs and has recruited or developed 16 players that have earned All-Conference honors. Eaker previously worked as an assistant coach at Liberty University from 2007 to 2013 after being director of basketball operations for the Flames from 2005 to 2007. Eaker spent a year as Kelvin Sampson’s graduate assistant at the University of Oklahoma in the 2004-05 season and started his basketball staff career as Hoffman’s video coordinator at Texas Pan-American in 2003-04.
