"Does geopolitics thousands of miles away really affect my small business here in the United States?" In short - yes. On the show today is Amir Goren, an investor who can translate the macro trends happening all over the world (China, Taiwan, Ukraine, Gaza, etc.) into micro-investment advice. (Trust us; he knows his stuff. Just ask his degrees from UC Irvine, Harvard, MIT, and Tel Aviv.) Our conversation with Amir covers world events, the upcoming election, oil prices, the future of EVs, gold, the likelihood of another recession, and economic predictions for 2024. It's a good reminder that - as easy as it is to focus on our immediate community/town/state/region - what's happening in the world around us can significantly impact how we do business. Have you noticed it seems like everyone is an investing expert these days…or at least THINKS they're an investing expert these days? Gone are the days of Bull-and-Bear conversations limited to the suits on Wall Street. Now, anybody can get in on the action. Making your money work for you has never been easier, while at the same time, more complicated. There is an art to investing. And despite what your Twitter feed might tell you, you'll rarely find overnight success and riches. Slow and steady wins the race. That's why we were excited to sit down with today's guest. Meet Zaheer Anwari, co-founder of SublimeTrading.io. He helps CEOs and HNWIs (high net worth individuals) get consistent returns in the stock market with a proven strategy that averaged 30%+ per annum over the last decade. How does he do it? Reverse engineering. Instead of choosing assets based on what you WANT to invest in (i.e., Tesla fans will want to buy Tesla stock), he helps people determine how much money they want by when… and then works backward to decide the right investment strategy to achieve that goal. He strictly uses technical analysis, focusing on small wins that compound over time using cutting-edge tech for current market conditions. Investing and reemploying capital - when done strategically - is an excellent way to develop second, third, or even fourth streams of income. If you're a busy professional looking to achieve results without dedicating endless hours, we strongly encourage you to first listen to this episode, and then visit SublimeTrading.io to learn more. Episode Highlights: Technical analysis vs. Fundamental analysis…and how to use them in tandem His daily process to determine which assets make it to his portfolio Why he only takes end-of-day positions His stance on long positions How a 30% success rate can still generate 7 to 8 figures a year The best trade he ever made Favorite Quote: “It's not about how many winners you have. The Need For Patience Is Real Highlights from this episode of Crushing the Day:
Every tax strategy works until it's audited. This is why having an expert in your corner who knows what they're talking about is critical. And one such expert is on the show today. Meet Brett Swarts, founder of Capital Gains Tax Solutions. His mission is to equip high-net-worth individuals with the Deferred Sales Trust (DST) tool to help them defer capital gains tax on the sale of their assets. His team can help you clarify your exit plan and determine the right timing to sell, set up the DST and sell your asset and defer your capital gains tax, and finally reinvest the funds to create more (and preserve) wealth. As taxes continue to rise and the government continues to spend out of control, it makes it harder to keep wealth in the hands of the people. If you're considering selling a highly appreciated asset (such as a business, a primary home, crypto, etc.) and thought a 1031 was your only option, we recommend setting aside about 40 minutes today to listen to what Brett has to say. He unpacks and shares a lot in this episode, so bring a pen and paper. You work hard for your money - and we want to see you keep more of it. Episode Highlights: How a Deferred Sales Trust can help you defer capital gains The difference between a 1031 and a Deferred Sales Trust Real-world, specific examples of how his team has helped clients save money The process of setting up a Deferred Sales Trust Which state would he invest in Favorite Quote: “It's a bigger picture than just cash flow. What is the most likely consequence of not having a plan for your business? It is comparable to a ship without a rudder, purposeless and not definite about its destination. A business presumably would fail in such a state. You might have a killer idea for your business, but without planning, you might wonder how you should go about it. Bringing just a picture is not enough to set up a business or improve an existing one unless you properly plan to get started with action and transform that ingenious idea into a reality. So how do you create a plan for your business? Jason says, “You can't create the plan until you know where you want to go.” A proper plan is a roadmap directing you to your desired goal. It is crucial to have a vision of what you want your business to be and where you want to see it at some point in the future. And once you have the clarity, you know how to formulate a proper plan and take action. The real mantra to a successful business comprises little, regular steps to follow daily. In this episode of No Bull Business and Brews, your hosts, Jason and Steve, jam in a session discussing the fundamentals you follow as an entrepreneur to progress. They give you an authentic, elaborate account of little steps you put in, consistently with a compound effect to achieve significant future results. Tune in to find your daily actions contributing to your personal growth as well as your business growth. What you will learn: What makes Jason and Steve a perfect combination of business partners, and how do they complement each other. How do you create a proper plan and execute them. Tracy Read is a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and most importantly, an advocate. When she's not working her 9-5 as a clinical trial administrator, Tracy is advocating for women's safety. As someone that has survived domestic violence, and offers support to family members that have survived sexual assault, Tracy is passionate about keeping women safe. She aims to equip women to defend themselves before something bad has to happen to them. While most women don't consider personal safety devices until after they've encountered some sort of attack, Tracy says it should be taught to every woman and child preemptively. Tracy had a safety wristlet of her own for protection while out on walks alone, but she hadn't yet considered the collective need. It was actually a Facebook reel from a Texas police officer that pushed Tracy to get involved. The police officer was crying and pleading in the video for women to strap up and be prepared to protect themselves. Tracy jumped in, buying all the safety devices she could find, comparing and contrasting, and ultimately realizing none of them were the quality she was looking for. She went back to her own safety wristlet and looked up the manufacturer, Damsel In Defense. Tracy joined Damsel In Defense just a few months ago, but within a week she was promoted to pro, and within 60 days, mentor. She's ready to educate women and young girls on how to spot danger, as well as how to protect themselves. From books and GPS tracking tools, to stun guns and mace, Damsel In Defense is the safety boutique women didn't know they needed. What You'll Learn: How to look for signs of domestic violence or sexual assault. What type of safety tools Damsel in Defense offers. What to look for in safety devices. Not even a year into her presidency role at UMBC, President Valerie Sheares Ashby feels right at home. The privilege of serving so many students, staff, and faculty is not lost on President Sheares Ashby. Always having had a central value around leadership, she has said if you turn a triangle upside down, the leader should be the point at the bottom. Everyone above you, you should be in service to. This is just one quality that President Sheares Ashby has learned from the many good examples in her life, including her parents. Her father was a minister as well as a math and science teacher. Her mother, who was an English teacher, went on to run a homeless shelter after retiring. Through their compassion and dedication, President Sheares Ashby learned that service should feel like a privilege. While President Sheares Ashby shares that every job she has held has been her favorite job at the time, she says the UMBC presidency was the right role at the right institution with the right values at the right time. If you are comfortable in your own skin, and you show up authentically, it's easy to find the job you're supposed to be in, she explains. When you find that perfect fit, President Sheares Ashby says you should spend everyday working to make it better than you found it. That way, when it's your time to leave, you can do so well. President Sheares Ashby appreciates how former UMBC President Freeman handed over the reins. He introduced her to the people, the city, and helped her make connections, and then handed it off for President Ashby to lead. To stay grounded as a leader, President Sheares Ashby relies on her people: a leadership coach and 4 mentors. Beyond that, she prioritizes self-care because she knows everyone she meets deserves the best version of herself. She utilizes exercise, church, time with friends, music, and more to take care of herself. Sometimes, she admits, self-care means saying no to requests. On her desk you'll find ‘20 Ways to Say No'. While your job should bring you joy, it should not be everything to you, she notes, asserting that it's important for leaders to have a whole life. At the end of the day, leadership isn't for everyone. President Sheares Ashby reminds us that you need a servant's heart and the right assets for the role. When it comes to keeping her leadership strong, she turns to her mentors and a few good books. For anyone who is looking at how to be an authentic leader, President Sheares Ashby recommends the books- The Advantage by Patrick Lencioni and Leading With Heart by John Baird. The Scary Part Highlights from this episode of Crushing the Day:
The state of comfort can be very enjoyable — but it can also prevent you from growing. Comfort limits you to what's familiar, preventing you from stretching the bounds of what you are capable of. And if you are in a great place in life or have achieved a certain level of success, discomfort and pain aren't going to be your motivators. Because it is very unlikely that you are going to experience them. The solution? Detach a little bit in your relationship from pain and know that pain is not the only motivator. With the top four publishing houses accounting for nearly 80% of book sales, it can be a tough market to break into. The self-publishing route can be a huge advantage for business owners seeking to elevate their credibility by being published experts on specific subject matters - without forking over a lot of money or rights to a third-party company. She also gives some tips on the writing process, market research, and the importance of a detailed outline, as well as a look at her latest book, NextGen Author. It's the perfect 30-minute crash course to get you started. We're all our own worst critics, we all have past traumas, we all have something holding us back. Master EFT practitioner and energy coach, Theresa Levine, uses scientifically proven methods to help others heal and breakthrough with confidence. With her own past traumas and challenges, Theresa has always been into personal development. She learned everything she could about the subject, but still couldn't get it to work for her. It wasn't until she realized that everyone touting ‘positive thinking' as the solution, was wrong. Positive thinking, affirmations, fake it till you make it, none of those work if you haven't healed first. It's imperative that we work on our pain, fear, and limiting beliefs if we expect to change our mindset and our life. Through this journey, Theresa was able to become more like who she was truly meant to be. She knew she had to share this with other women, and so she founded Becoming More Me. She utilizes EFT to elevate clients consciousness so that they can work through past traumas to unblock energy. When energies are restored and aligned, we can begin to manifest all that we truly deserve. What You'll Learn: What EFT is and how it's done. How manifesting works. Kevin Tansey is a 7-year pro hockey player whose career was saved by cannabis. After high school, he accepted a division one scholarship and was excited to chase his dream. Working at a hockey school, on his way to work at the age of 19, Kevin got assaulted. He was hit in the back of the head, suffered a cracked skull, a brain bleed, and was put in a coma for two days. He originally used the painkillers properly, but when a doctor told him he shouldn't play hockey again, Kevin began turning to them for emotional relief. He found himself abusing prescription pills on and off for two years when he decided he wanted something helpful but not habit forming. Kevin had grown up around cannabis, but didn't know the first thing about CBD. When he was introduced to it, it was mind blowing. He truly believed in the product and that athletes should have a more sustainable option that doesn't do damage to the body long term. He quickly became an advocate for CBD use in professional sports. He's found the level of stigma differs around the world, but no one is immune from it. Growing up, Heidi Fahrenbach's parents were race car drivers, so she's always been around the automotive industry. From a young age, Shannon fell in love with the adrenaline, the sounds, the smells, all of it. As she grew up, people noticed her beauty and encouraged her to get into modeling. She decided to pursue it, but only if she could specialize in the automotive industry. She says it did take a little bit of work to break into the male dominated industry, and it all started with gaining respect through building relationships. Once people realized she wasn't just another pretty face, but also knew her stuff, Heidi was in. She now is a spokesmodel for various automotive products and events, but says her favorite to work for would have to be Lamborghini. Heidi says it's truly a blessing to love what you do. She occasionally branches out of the automotive space, as she's done recently with Celsius energy drinks. No matter who her employer is, Heidi has a ‘this is who I am, take it or leave it' mentality. She's not one to follow trends that go against her values, no matter how much money she's being offered. Heidi believes this has contributed to her success because employers know their company's reputation is safe in her hands. What You'll Learn: What Heidi's favorite racetrack of all time is. Growing up in the Bible Belt of West Virginia, Kris Whitehead developed a mindset that he had to be a certain way. It wasn't until, at the age of 20, he read the book The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck that he began to look at his spiritual growth in a new light. The book goes through the 4 levels of faith, agnosticism, atheism, institutionalism, and mysticism. Kris believes it's important for people to go through some sort of institutionalism for their faith, but if they stay in that place, they'll never have a deeper relationship with their higher power. Kris admits that he was stuck in his own head, worried about his looks and how people perceived him. He wanted to be free of that so badly and was led to a corporate job. But as he looked down the road, he saw his successors working 6-7 days a week with a plastic smile. Kris knew that wasn't for him, and so he opened up the Yellow Pages and started cold calling people, looking for lawns to mow. He figured he'd rather make $3/hour working for himself than $30/hour working for someone else. For anyone looking to get deeper in touch with themselves, Kris recommends the book Stealing Fire by Steven Kotler and Jamie Wheal. The book discusses ways to enter what is known as a flow state. While our conscious mind can translate 120 bits of information per minute, the unconscious mind can translate billions. Tapping into this unconscious flow state can help you do what you need to do faster and with more ease. Some of the methods for achieving this may be unconventional, but Kris says if you want to be elite, you have to be willing to ask the questions without preconceived notions. What You'll Learn: How to grow in your faith. How to achieve harmony in your life. What the key to happiness is. And much more!! Most people have always viewed a firefighter's career as cool. Little might people know, this career can be mentally grueling. Do you know a firefighter? Ask yourself this: how well do you know the struggle they face on a daily basis? Both Police Officers and Firefighters are more likely to die by suicide than in the line of duty. According to a study, 14% to 22% of firefighters are highly likely to have PTSD. 11% percent of firefighters struggle with depression, and about 46.8% of firefighters think about suicide sometime within their career. Reading these numbers, Gary Roberts was shocked and decided to dedicate himself to the mission of lowering those alarming statistics. On this episode of the Good Dude's Grow Podcast, Gary shares his struggle and experience of being a firefighter and its effect on him mentally, emotionally, and physically. Gary also shares the benefit of using CBD, a natural plant, rather than using a chemical medication. Tune in for an episode that will give you a deep understanding about the life of a firefighter. What You'll Learn: Why firefighters are at a higher risk for depression, PTSD, and suicide than the general population How this conversation about using CBD is essential to understanding how to help first responders What are the benefits of CBD in the fight against depression, PTSD, and other mental health issues And much more: Favorite Quote: “It's not as easy as everybody thinks it is. Once you get hired, basically you have 80 pounds of gear you're gonna wear on calls, you're away from your family for 24 hours, a lot of this plays on a firefighter's mind.
