Pastor Writer: Conversations on Writing, Reading, and the Christian Life
From Life in the Negative World: Learning how to live in today's new social and cultural environment will require examination, trial and error, and adaptation over time. But there are ways to live with integrity and follow Christ today, even in a negative world. From a peak in church attendance in the mid-20th century, Christianity has been on a trajectory of decline in the United States. Once positive toward Christianity and Christian moral teachings, cultural shifts toward the mid-90s led many to adopt a more neutral tone toward the Christian faith, seeing it as one option among many in a pluralistic public square. Today, however, Christianity is viewed negatively, and being known as a Christian often means a lower social status in elite society. Christian morality is openly repudiated and viewed as a threat to the new moral order. In Life in the Negative World, author Aaron M. Renn looks at the lessons from Christian cultural engagement over the past 70 years and suggests specific strategies for churches, institutions, and individuals to live faithfully in the "negative" world—a culture opposed to Christian values and teachings. And since there is no one-size-fits-all solution, living as a follower of Christ in the new, negative world and being missionally engaged will require a diversity of strategies. How well do you know you? Can you differentiate your wants from your needs? Let's get into what do we actually want? From Life? From God? From yourself? What is it that you really want?
Conservatism without God is just another bureaucracyThe power of conservatism comes from the fact that it exists to protect our God-given rights against the avarice, hubris and greed of human flesh. Without God, conservatism is just a set of opinions some people turned into a governing document. We have the rights to Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness . . . but, why? Because God gives us all of that and we get to choose how we steward those gifts. From Life and Liberty often flows the gift of family. A CNN guest announced that it's not “conservative” to “ban” CRT and sexually explicit books from schools, she claims that is big government (but not so when schools force porn upon kids.) She's wrong . . . Yet, without God, who are we to proclaim the superiority of our belief that kids should not be taught in schools that it's exciting and fun and normal to have sex with as many people as possible before 8th grade? Leftists and Party bosses can argue their ideas as well. While we can make the case with psychology and biology that kids aren't ready for that, that data shows it harms them, none of that has authority, especially in our fallen world. But, it's self-evident that God gave parents the job of stewarding kids, not the government and God is quite clear about matters of sexuality. If we hope to conserve the family, we must conserve the fact that our rights come from God. People can be brilliant conservative minds and effective patriots without believing in or following God, but conservatism absent God is just gentle bureaucracy. What does God Say?God loves us and, like the perfect parent He is, He wants us to gain from His wisdom. Proverbs 3:5-75 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil. When Peter and the apostles were being threatened with death by the religious bureaucrats for continuing to preach about Jesus, Peter made it very clear that, when it comes to matters of faith, we answer only to God. Acts 5: 25-3225 Then someone came and said, “Look! The men you put in jail are standing in the temple courts teaching the people.” 26 At that, the captain went with his officers and brought the apostles. They did not use force, because they feared that the people would stone them.27 The apostles were brought in and made to appear before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest. 28 “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name,” he said. “Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching and are determined to make us guilty of this man's blood.”29 Peter and the other apostles replied: “We must obey God rather than human beings! 30The God of our ancestors raised Jesus from the dead—whom you killed by hanging him on a cross. 31 God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might bring Israel to repentance and forgive their sins. 32 We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.” Maybe hiring based on "DIVERSITY" isn't a good idea.Sen. Kennedy: "Tell me what Article V of the Constitution does."Biden Judicial Nominee: "Article V is not coming to mind at the moment."Sen. But I will not let anyone use the full faith and credit of the United States as a bargaining chip.”DOOCY: "What happens to someone in the chain of command if they do leave [a SCIF] with a piece of classified material...?" KIRBY: "You self report, which is exactly what the president did."Don Lemon on Florida: “It feels like the 1950s all over again, with book banning. This is cancel culture from people who are, I guess they just want our kids to be ignorant, and to control the teachers. This is Outrageous.”Cory Booker pretends Asylum in the US is a “right.”
A frank conversation about the Truth and the choice that changes the world. Predictions of the Day of Judgment that the Prophet Muhammad spoke about are coming true. Now everyone determines whom he is with: “With God, honor and conscience, or with shaitan?” Whom does a person serve during the day? Are you sure that, being a believer of one or another religion, you are really going towards God? Then why do people not understand each other if God is One? Why is there so much discord and hatred among believers if the prophets called for God's Love? Whom do you follow? Why do some people say, “If you follow us, you'll be saved.” Others say, “If you follow us, you'll be saved.” Yet, what will you be saved from when there is such division and aggression towards each other? From Life? But where is God here, friends? Where is God's Love? Where is respect? What place does God occupy in your life? Are you ready to truly Love? People are ready to die for God. But are you ready to gain Life with God? #Salvation #Islam #JudgementDay Videos with Igor Mikhailovich Danilov: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-gwQUB4VIPlpCa4pvsjSqeQZ1N6hLzBB

The half-baked Rousseau-ism in which most of us have been brought up has given us a subconscious notion that the free act is the untrained act. But of course, freedom has nothing to do with the lack of training. We are not free to move until we have learned ot walk. We are not free to express ourselves musically until we have learned music. We are not capable of free thought unless we can think. Similarly, free speech cannot have anything to do with the mumbling and grousing of the ego. Free speech is cultivated and precise speech, which means that there are far too many people who are neither capable of it nor would know if they had lost it. A group of individuals who retain the power and desire of genuine communication is a society. An aggregate of egos is a mob. Northrop Frye He had had a choice, after all. The army had been keen to keep him, even with half his leg missing. Friends of friends had offered everything from management roles in the close protection industry to business partnerships, but the itch to detect, solve, and reimpose order on the moral universe could not be extinguished in him. He doubted it ever would be. Robert Galbraith The Composer by W. H. With this month being "Financial Literacy" month, it's only right to focus on that very subject. My guest Johney Johnson, a financial coach, a Licensed Financial Professional, a College Endowment Funding Specialist, and a Financial Fitness Director with FinFit Life, discussed the many ways he helps his clients, preferably in the black community, become both financially independent and financially empowered with the various options he provides. From Life insurance, Roth IRAs, to savings options in order to establish generational wealth for our kids, grandkids, etc. For many generations, the black community has been far behind the wealth gap and most of that has been the case due to lack of financial knowledge on what it means to save and invest in our future. In the black community, we've been taught and conditioned to always being in survival mode; only being concerned about now and spending irresponsibly with no long term financial goals for ourselves or families. Having an impoverished mindset has widen the wealth gap even more to our disadvantage. Johney spoke about how important it is to have life insurance where oppose to relying on "GoFundMe" accounts as a means of paying for funeral costs, burial arrangements, and other ways to provide for grieving loved ones. This has unfortunately become a common practice in the black community versus having a long term plan to leave to our families when that time comes for us to be buried, which for Johney, hit home for him personally and what helped sparked his interest into choosing this field and profession. If you would like tips and guidance on how to become more financially independent or help with coming up with the best affordable plan for you to invest in your financial future, you can reach via Instagram @johneykash06 and Facebook @JohneyJohnson. The goal ladies and gentlemen is establish generational wealth for a generation we will not be alive to see and applied knowledge is the key to economic empowerment.

“From Life in a Maze, to an Amazing Life” best describes De’Juan “DJ” Verrett. On February 6, 1990 DJ Verrett was arrested on drug charges at the age of 19, and was sentenced to 19 ½ years of imprisonment. After serving 16 years 10 months and 3 days in some of America’s most notorious federal prisons DJ Verrett was released on November 1, 2006. The day he was released DJ Verrett made the decision to change everything about him.

Key Takeaways: “The idea that ‘I have to work hard to be successful' gets you noticed, but it's a tactic that will only get you so far.” - Kym Harris-Lee “One thing important from an authenticity perspective is to understand how people experience you and inviting feedback is something I encourage leaders to do so that they can really get a sense of what the perceptions are.” - Kym Harris-Lee “Feedback is the most important way to really get a sense of how people experience you.” - Kym Harris-Lee “While it's important to ask for feedback, it is equally as important to act on the feedback. Because otherwise without acting, people will stop giving you feedback because they will feel that you don't value their insights and the way in which they are experiencing you.” - Kym Harris-Lee Ways to Connect with Kym Harris-Lee: Website: http://www.drkymharrislee.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/iamdrkym Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/drkymharris Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/iamdrkym Ways to Connect with Sarah E. The voice of the seventh trump is sounding, World, Hear ye him. From Life to Life
Originally from Philadelphia, Janene moved to Colorado after falling in love with the area while on a business trip in 1980. With over 25 years of real estate experience, Janene’s dedication, integrity and exceptional service have consistently made her one of the top producers in her area, and a leader in the industry. After raising 2 daughters in the ski town of Winter Park, CO, Janene and her husband Mark now get to share their love of skiing, biking, hiking and everything outdoors with their 2 young granddaughters! What’s amazing about Janene is her passion for learning, and her continual involvement in the greater real estate community, beyond simply selling real estate. She is one of 8 owners of Real Estate of Winter Park, a well-established and leading brokerage in her region. Her impressive career also includes serving as the President of the Grand County Board of Realtors in 2007, Grand County Realtor of the Year in 2007 and 2015, member of the Colorado Association of Realtors’ Legislative Policy Committee since 2009, serving as Subcommittee Chair for three years, Vice Chair for two years and Chair for one year. Janene also served as Chair for the Government Affairs Division for the Colorado Association of Realtors for 2015 and 2016. In June of 2018, Janene was elected by members of the Colorado Association of Realtors to serve as their 2019 Chair Elect and 2020 Chair. As if that’s not enough, Janene has a zest for life and adventure, somehow managing to balance her passion for real estate, family, fun, and everything in between! “Skiing with my family and enjoying all that the Winter Park/Fraser Valley has to offer are a few of my favorite things. I am so grateful that I live in this wonderful community and would love to share it with you!” What You Will Learn: Janene’s journey from the tech industry into real estate Why you should be an educator instead of a salesperson How to overcome the fear of entering a new industry and new role How Janene integrated motherhood and entrepreneurship Janene’s approach to building culture in a growing team How Real Estate of Winter Park trains its new agents Additional Resources: Website:www.realtywinterpark.com Twitter: @rewinterpark Real Estate as a Vehicle for Flexibility Janene Johnson is a long-time resident and business owner in Winter Park, CO, and she serves as the current Chair of the Colorado Association of Realtors. Before she got into real estate, Janene worked in the tech systems industry with a rigorous travel schedule. The constant movement was taxing, so Janene decided to get off the road and transition careers. At first, she found herself in accounting and finance roles, but she longed for more flexibility for her growing family, and stumbled upon Real Estate as the answer. Educator vs. Salesperson Janene’s philosophy is “we are not salespeople, we are educators,” and that mindset is part of the reason she fell in love with real estate after closing her first transaction. At the core, Janene believes that giving value, caring about your clients, and educating them through the process is what ultimately leads to success, not being great at ‘getting deals.’ Ironically, Janene didn’t come from a sales or educational background, but her experience in tech and finance gave her the wherewithal to know what a great service experience looks like. What’s amazing about Janene’s journey was her willingness to go “all-in” from day one. She faced the same fears we all do when starting out, but her willingness to put her head down, learn, and get to work resulted in quick success. When you set out on a mission to educate, and focus primarily on learning your clients’ needs and helping them understand the process, rather than trying to figure out how to “sell,” you don’t need any gimmicks to build your business, because your business is built on trust. Janene’s story, like many, proves that this business is simple...though it may not always be easy! Always Be Learning and Growing Janene’s passion for growth and learning inevitably led her to leadership and involvement with the greater real estate community. She has been a pillar in the industry, locally, state-wide and nationally. She has been voted Realtor of the Year (twice!,) served as President of the Grand County Board of Realtors, is currently an owner of Real Estate of Winter Park, and was recently inducted Chair of the Colorado Association of Realtors...among other impressive titles! All this, while remaining close with her husband, daughters, and granddaughters...and still finding time for all the adventure Grand County, CO has to offer! Janene has never lost her drive or her commitment to excellence, yet she’s one of the greatest examples I’ve met of someone who’s not willing to sacrifice her life, her family, or her priorities in the process. She’s a genuine person and an incredible leader, and I’m grateful she took the time to share her story with us! If you want to hear more about Janene’s real estate journey, listen to our podcast episode, From Life on the Road to Life in the Mountains, with Janene Johnson.

We are brought from death, to life, by grace, through faith. Each of those four words represents a critical dimension of the Christian experience.
