Back in 2012, a wildlife fence stretching over 16 kilometres was installed on the Trans Canada Highway between Gallants and Barachois. It's just one of many attempts to keep moose off the province's highways. Of course, there's still work to be done. Just last week, a 54-year-old man died after hitting a moose on the highway near Birchy Narrows. We spoke with John Abbott, NL's Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.

STAT OF THE WEEK Last week: Molefi Ntseki announced as their new coach This week: Kaizer Chiefs announced six new players Average age 28 =/= long-term renovation but an immediate challenge? Mduduzi Mdantsane Favourite at Cape Town City, making over 100 appearances for the club 21 goals = all-time top scorer since they joined the PSL in 2016 Yet, last season was least productive in terms of goals, with just 2 (also v Chiefs) Completed one 90 all season Played 40% of all league mins available for CT City last season (1092 mins) Ranga Chivaviro 17 goals all comps 2nd behind only Peter Shalulile (23) 10 league goals in 1254 mins (46% of mins Gallants played in) Caleb Bimenyimana's struggles key to this signing? 3.92 shots per 90 = 1st 50-55% shot accuracy = Top5 Incredible ability to get into good spots and take shots in the center of the box Needs good supply from Dolly et al. to elevate Chiefs' attacking threat. Pule Mmodi Versatile (left & right attacking midfield, and also as left winger last season). 9 G/A were second only to Knox Mutizwa at Arrows. near-elite output for short passes, forward passes and passes into the box. in the Top 20 for dribbles/90, rises to Top 3 for total dribbles (played many mins) Passing and dribbling abilities, = key to disrupting deep defensive blocks Thatayaone Ditlhokwe & Given Msimango Ditlhokwe youngest signing Saw more minutes than any other SuperSport player in the league Msimango also saw most minutes in the league for his team. Msimango is a passer-defender likely to be involved more in the buildup Ditlhokwe on the other hand ranked higher for successful defensive actions
Mamelodi Sundowns have born knocked out of the CAF Champions League, losing by goal difference to Moroccan giants Wydad AC. Masandawana failed to score away from home and then let 2 goals slip on home soil. One of the goals which Ronwen Williams conceded came from one of his teammates, Mothobi Mvala, thus being declared an own goal. Downs head coach, Rhulani Mokwena, insists that he is not upset with Mvala and has given the defender his full support. With Sundowns exiting yet another cup, they have now only claimed victory on local shores, having won the PSL with 7 games to spare. Given the magnitude of this title, this is nothing to look down upon, but when you consider the set expectations, have Sundowns had a successful season? Missing out on the Nedbank Cup, and now the CAF Champions League, Mzansi speaks about Sundowns' season and question whether or not it can be deemed successful. Marumo Gallants have been more than impressive in the 2022/23 CAF Confederations Cup. They have taken points from some of Africa's biggest clubs, in their hunt for Silverware. Gallants showed true honour and valour throughout the tournament and were ultimately knocked out by Tanzanian outfit Young Africans. Losing 4-1 on aggregate, Bahlabane Ba Ntwa can pat themselves on the back for what they have achieved. Contrary to this, Gallants have officially been relegated from South Africa's top-flight league, the Dstv premiership. Gallants have been far less impressive on the local stage. Accumulating 29 points from 30 games, less than a point a match. Gallants have suffered in the PSL and will soon be plying their trade in the lower division. Speaking on the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, Mzansi suggests Gallants will struggle to get back into the Dstv premiership, given the competitiveness of the National First Division (NFD). “Look at Cape Town Spurs, how long have they been there for?” Said one fan. On the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, Mzansi reacts to Mamelodi Sundowns' unfortunate exit from the Car Champions League. Masandawana lost to Moroccan giants Wydad AC on goal difference. Marumo Gallants have officially been relegated from the Dstv Premiership and the fans have discussed their chances of returning to South Africa's top-flight. SL Radio on SoccerLaduma.co.za
DSTV PREM RELEGATION BATTLE Maritzburg United chairperson Farouk Kadodia is fearful of sinister forces in the final matches of the DStv Premiership especially in the relegation fight when Chippa United host Golden Arrows at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday. The Team of Choice concluded their season on Tuesday at Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria, with a 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns. The result saw them move from the bottom to 14th on the log table with 30 points, one better than Chippa and Marumo Gallants, who will play their last matches on Saturday. After bombing out of the Confed Cup, Marumo will not shift their focus to the Premier Soccer League where they have all to fight for as far as the top-flight status is concerned. Gallants are currently in the playoff spot (15th) and they take on top-eight hopefuls Swallows FC on the final day of the season. To avoid any complicated permutations, Gallants will need to win against the Dube Birds, leaving Maritzburg United and Chippa United in the red zone as one of these three teams must be relegated, and another must go to the playoffs. Teams from the National First Division who are waiting with bated breath are Casric Stars and Cape Town Spurs.

"Marumo Gallants continued with their fairytale run in the CAF Confederation Cup this past weekend as they eliminated Democratic Republic of Congo giants AS Vita Club beating them 3-2 on aggregate. Mamelodi Sundowns faced off against Orlando Pirates in a derby that was sure the bring excitement. Looking at the post-match stats, one could say that Sundowns weren't messing about, controlling the ball possession, total shots, and the number of passes. This proved correct as Masandawana eased past Pirates thanks to a brace from Namibian striker Peter Shalulile. Kaizer Chiefs have struggled all season to put the ball in the back of the net and the struggles continued to show as Chiefs remained stagnant in 13th position on the log after they drew to Gallants 0-0. With only 7 shots throughout the game and news that striker Samir Nurkovic will have to undergo surgery, Chiefs will need to make a plan. In the most talked about event of this past week, Percy Tau will not be representing Bafana Bafana this weekend against Ethiopia in the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup qualifying matches. Al Ahly have come forward and announced that they will not be releasing the South African as he is nursing an injury. This has been met with great shock and disappointment by the fans as Percy is the talisman striker. On the latest episode of the Fan Reaction Show, Mzansi nation voice and express their feelings towards the Sundowns vs Pirates match, they rate Chief's performance against Gallants and express concern for how big of an impact Tau's absence will cause this weekend as Bafana Bafana are set to play back-to-back 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

This was originally supposed to be called something vaguely phlegm-related, due to the amount of hacking and coughing I have been doing over the course of the last few days. It's the reason this podcast never appeared on Sunday or Monday, that's for sure, and had I tried to record it then you'd have just heard me growling my way through links like I was auditioning to replace that guy who does the voiceovers for all those macho trailers in Hollywood."Forced to choose between his old ways and the family he would do anything to protect" - that kind of shit, y'know?Anyhow, sitting in muggy Edinburgh while rain interrupts play at Wimbledon, and with a rather odd tennis-themed song on this week's playlist I figured The Ballscast would be more suitable. I am not fussed about tennis at all, but being back at my grandparents' house in Manchester during the Summer holidays and watching Wimbledon is a rather significant childhood memory for me. As was then going out to play tennis on my Granddad's carefully cultivated lawn and completely destroying it, much to his silent fuming!01. Blur - The Puritan (00.22)02.
