Personal awakening often comes from confronting uncomfortable truths. Psychedelics can enhance emotional awareness and presence. The mind-body connection is crucial in understanding the effects of psychedelics. Presence and mindfulness are essential for healing and self-discovery. Psychedelics are considered medicines that expand life experiences. Integrating lessons from microdosing into daily life is vital. Taking responsibility for one's emotions is a key aspect of growth. Psychedelics can help release suppressed emotions and traumas. The journey of healing is ongoing and requires intention.  Anger can significantly impact workplace relationships and productivity. Pharmaceuticals can create dependency and emotional instability. Microdosing can be a viable alternative to traditional medications. Chronic use of pharmaceuticals often leads to more medications for side effects. Obesity is often linked to emotional and psychological factors. Our external environment mirrors our internal state. Men benefit from community and emotional support in their healing journey. Finding freedom and purpose is essential for personal fulfillment. Self-awareness is crucial for understanding one's desires and needs. Integration of experiences is vital for personal growth.  Psychedelic experiences should be approached with intentionality and safety. Integration of insights gained from psychedelics is crucial for transformation. Bad trips can reveal underlying issues rather than being purely negative experiences. The current medical framework struggles to accommodate the unique nature of psychedelics. Neuroplasticity allows for significant behavioral changes post-psychedelic experiences. Spiritual narcissism can emerge in the psychedelic community, leading to unhealthy dynamics. Psychedelics can enhance emotional regulation and interpersonal communication. Nature provides the necessary tools for healing; we just need to utilize them correctly. Microdosing can be tailored with various herbs for specific effects. The future of medicine may lie in nutraceuticals rather than pharmaceuticals.

Leo Strauss was a German-Jewish emigrant to the United States, an author, professor and political philosopher. Born in 1899 in Kirchhain in the Kingdom of Prussia to an observant Jewish family, Strauss received his doctorate from the University of Hamburg in 1921, and began his scholarly work in the 1920s, as well as participating in the German Zionist movement. In 1932, a recommendation letter from the jurist and later Nazi party member Carl Schmitt enabled Strauss to leave Germany on a Rockefeller Foundation grant, shortly before Adolf Hitler came to power. Strauss continued his work in France and England before settling in the United States in 1937, teaching at the New School and other colleges, and then becoming professor of political science at the University of Chicago in 1949. It is in America that Strauss wrote his most famous works, including Persecution and the Art of Writing, On Tyranny, Natural Right and History, The City and Man, What Is Political Philosophy?, and many other works. His work typically takes the form of interpretations of ancient authors, especially Plato.  Over the years, Strauss attracted many dedicated students, who became known as “Straussians,” spreading his influence not only within academia but eventually into the American government. Straussians would attain such prominence and eventually cause such controversy, that, decades after Strauss' death, the field of political science was gripped by what would become known as “the Strauss wars.” Strauss wrote in a difficult, densely layered and evasive style that has led to long-lasting disputes about whether his apparent endorsement of liberal democracy was genuine, or whether his work contains an esoteric teaching about human hierarchies, one that might justify illiberal and anti-democratic Machiavellian coups. Heightening the urgency of figuring out what Strauss truly stood for is the widespread view that Straussians who worked in the State Department and Defense Department and who came to be called “Neoconservatives” were instrumental in launching the Iraq war in 2003, and are otherwise associated with hawkish, not to say hubristic and imperial U.S. foreign policy. But, leaving the neocons aside; Leo Strauss, Jewish Nazi? Could such a charge possibly be fair? Who is the real Leo Strauss? These are the questions that bring us to this author and this book. William Henry Furness Altman is a retired public high school teacher and author of many articles and books on figures including Plato, Cicero, Plotinus, Nietzsche, Heidegger, and indeed, Leo Strauss.  The book we are discussing today is entitled The German Stranger: Leo Strauss and National Socialism (Lexington Books, 2010). William Altman's first published book is an extensively researched and exhaustively footnoted work substantiating his charge that Leo Strauss, the revered and influential Jewish emigre, and recipient of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, did indeed harbor a lifelong commitment to the principles of Nazi ideology and that such indeed is Strauss' secret teaching. Find the 9 Points Rating System Here: https://www.alostplot.com/9-points/ In this episode of A Lost Plot, Maverick and Avalon discuss the 2000 film Memento directed by Christopher Nolan. The film follows the story of Leonard, a man with short-term memory loss, as he tries to find the person who killed his wife. The unique aspect of the film is its reverse chronology, where scenes are shown in reverse order. The hosts discuss their initial impressions of the film, the use of reverse chronology, and the impact of the storytelling technique. They also analyze the main character, Leonard, and the side characters, Natalie and Teddy, and how their development and revelations shape the story. The conversation explores the character of Teddy and his motive, as well as the revelations surrounding Leonard's backstory and his development throughout the film. In this conversation, Avalon and Maverick discuss the themes of denial, refusal to forgive, and the importance of accepting reality in the film 'Memento'. They explore how the protagonist, Leonard, chooses to deny the truth and punish the person who tells him the truth because he fears losing his reason for living. They also discuss the idea of holding onto pain and refusing to let go, as well as the dangers of clinging to ideals and beliefs without considering the consequences. The conversation touches on the relevance of these themes in today's society, where people often refuse to accept reality and instead choose to believe what is convenient for them.----------Highlights:0:00 ‘Memento' Introduction7:06 Opening Scene15:44 Leonard's Growth19:15 Manipulating Natalie26:43 The Big Revelation and Unreliable Narrators36:34 Teddy Revisited42:13 Remember Sammy Jenkis48:48 Themes and Messages54:24 Heightening the Tension1:07:07 Lasting Impact and Value of Memento#memento #christophernolan #remembersammyjenkis #alostplot #filmnerd #filmthoughts #mementomori #leonard #teddy #crime #mystery #revenge #anterogradeamnesia #amnesia #tattoos #rules #natalie

In a remarkable law enforcement operation, agents from Homeland Security Investigations, along with other police forces, performed thorough searches at two real estate properties. These properties, positioned in the cities of Los Angeles and Miami, belong to the high-profile rapper Sean ‘Diddy' Combs. Initiated on Monday, this operation stands as a critical aspect of a rolling inquiry related to suspected sex trafficking offenses. This development arrives in the wake of multiplying sexual harassment and rape legal cases pressed against the famous rapper. Amidst this whirlwind of legal drama, Diddy was noticeably missing during the property searches carried out on the previous day. Observers described an operation where law enforcement officers diligently gathered potential evidence packed in containers and sacks from his properties. As the searches were conducted, the journey path of Diddy's personal aircraft, registered under the company name LoveAir LLC, indicated a location in the Caribbean Island of Antigua. TMZ, the entertainment media outlet, brought this additional detail into public purview, further intensifying the mystery around the unfolding situation. Heightening the dramatic aura around these events is fellow rapper Curtis Jackson, who took to social media to express his criticism towards Diddy. He displayed a video that tarred Diddy's character with the description, “too freaky for society.” To go with this depiction, Jackson included a caption that hinted at abandonment and evasion.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Passing the Counseling NCMHCE narrative exam

In a therapeutic context, emotional heightening may be used to help a client explore and process their emotions in a safe and supportive environment. Here's an example:Therapist: "Tell me about a recent situation that triggered strong emotions for you."Client: "I had an argument with my partner, and I felt really angry and frustrated."Therapist (Emotional Heightening): "Let's explore those feelings a bit more. Take a moment to close your eyes, and imagine yourself back in that situation. Allow those emotions of anger and frustration to come up. Notice the sensations in your body, the intensity of those feelings. What thoughts are running through your mind in this moment?"By guiding the client to mentally revisit the situation and intentionally engage with their emotions, the therapist is using emotional heightening techniques. The therapist encourages the client to vividly imagine and reconnect with the intensity of their anger and frustration. They invite the client to focus on the bodily sensations, thoughts, and overall experience associated with those emotions. This approach allows the client to explore and process their emotions more deeply, gaining insight into their triggers, underlying beliefs, and potential areas for growth. The therapist creates a contained space where the client can safely engage with their heightened emotions and gain a better understanding of their emotional landscape. Through this process, the client can develop greater self-awareness, emotional regulation skills, and work towards positive change. If you need to study for your NCMHCE narrative exam, try the free samplers at: CounselingExam.comThis podcast is not associated with the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) or any state or governmental agency responsible for licensure.

Today we spoke with James Laughlin - High Performance Leadership Expert and Former 7-time World Champion Music took James on an extraordinary journey around the world, winning and travelling along the way. He ended up in Christchurch, New Zealand, where he settled and created his High Performance Leadership Programme - lead yourself, lead others, lead always, with guests such as Kieran Read and Steve Hansen, former captain and head coach of the All Blacks. James works with elite players as a mental skills coach with Canterbury Rugby, and with executives in relation to purpose, habits, and overall leadership development. We unpacked overcoming major tough moments such as the Christchurch earthquake, a miscarriage and splitting up with a partner. We learned about what young Finn, James' son teaches him everyday, and why boundaries are essential for parenting. There was a fascinating dialogue around identifying and contacting mentors, why music was James' calling at a young age, and when James found his purpose. Legacy of Dad...what a line! ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Highlights

Marni welcomes credentialed Life Coach, Hypnotherapist, Speaker, Personal Empowerment Expert, and Podcaster, Amy Green Smith to the show. Through her work, Amy helps move individuals to a place of radical personal empowerment and self-worth. She helps people find their voice in her guide, How to Find Your Voice Without Being a Dick. She is highly sought out because of her uncommon style of irreverence, wisdom, and humor.   Dating takeaways from this episode:   How to stop yourself from people-pleasing Finding your voice and your truth Direct communication skills How women can speak up for themselves Change the trajectory of your life   Finding Your Voice [1:56]   Amy says if we look at our biological makeup we are programmed to people-please in order to survive. Most of us have heard of the flight, fight, freeze, and fawn instincts. People-pleasing fits into the fawn defense. Fitting in is a fundamental human need because our ancestors needed a group to stay safe and survive. In modern times, it doesn't seem to make sense, but from childhood, we learn that people-pleasing is a safe behavioral tactic.   Finding our voice requires more than a quick fix. Amy says we must incorporate new patterns and habits to make the necessary wiring changes to our brains before we can experience true transformation.   Becoming aware that you are people-pleasing is the first step to finding your voice, but more importantly, you must take action to make a change.   How to Speak Up for Yourself Without Being A D*ck [14:03]   Amy reminds us that we cannot make someone feel something. 93% of our communication with another person is paraverbal and nonverbal, which leaves only 3% being the actual words we use. Heightening our emotional intelligence is the path forward when speaking up for ourselves. We must learn to be OK with someone else feeling something different than what we feel.   You are responsible for your intention, not your reception.   When we speak out of malice, are more combative, or we people-please, we are reacting to a sense of threat. We feel like we are in danger so we revert to what we feel will keep us safe. We must be sure we are in a safe situation; then we can be clear about our truth.   Hypnotherapy [29:49]   As part of her personal empowerment work, Amy uses hypnotherapy to reprogram the limiting inner critic most of us have. Slowing down our brain waves allows us to embed new belief systems that better serve us.   Make a Connection: Visit Our Website Sign Up For Our Ignite Your Life October 2022 Waitlist! A big topic of conversation currently – both in and out of the educational field, is the difference between equality and equity. Because, while equality might be a good thing when equity is not being achieved in schools, some groups of students simply don’t have the same access and opportunity to acquire quality education. And it’s undeniable that race is a significant factor in who gets that access and opportunity and who ends up marginalized. Today, Marnetta and Darlene are joined by Debi Mathias, the Director of Early Care and Education Quality Improvement at BUILD Initiative, and Stephanie M. Curenton, Associate Professor at Boston University, The Center on the Ecology of Early Development. Listen in to the episode to hear them discuss what quality improvement systems look like and can do, measure whether student experiences are improving, and implement real-time data into classroom approaches. In this episode, Dr. Cyndi Burnett and Dr. Matthew Worwood sit down and have a debrief to reflect on the first 5 episodes of Season Two, highlighting the key takeaways and major lessons these conversations have taught them about creativity and education.   Listen in as Cyndi and Matthew break down the following insights.   Major Takeaways from Season Two, Episodes 1-5:   Heightening anticipation for students increases engagement and excitement about learning any content. Learn more about creating “hooks” in the classroom, by listening to the episode with Dr. Sally Reis and read about the Torrance Incubation Model.   There is immense value in identifying interests from an early age. It's important to note that having too many interests may make it difficult to focus on one. Additionally, it may be hard for students to develop interests, so don't force it. Simply help your children or students explore different areas and see what sparks curiosity.   Think about the future, and the skills that your students/children may need.  For more information on this, listen to the episode with Jonathan Nadler.   Human-centered education, or personalized learning, focuses on what each individual student needs to be successful, rather than treating everyone as though they have the same needs. To learn more, listen to the episode with Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman.  Resources Mentioned: Read about the Torrance Incubation Model. 20 Lessons to Weave Creative Thinking into Your Curriculum Listen to the episode with Jonathan Nalder  Listen to the episode with Dr. Sally Reis.  Listen to the episode with Leon Tynes.  Listen to the episode with Donna Luther.  Listen to the episode with Dr. Scott Barry Kaufman.   Eager to bring more creativity into your home or classroom?  Access a variety of creativity resources and tools & listen to more episodes of The Fueling Creativity Podcast by visiting our website: www.CreativityandEducation.com    You can also find The Fueling Creativity Podcast on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Audible, and PodBean! In this episode, Ted and Barb welcome Patrick Harel, Fall Protection Specialist. As one of the experts on fall protection, Patrick talks about what needs to be improved within the field and gives some good advice and tips. He also shares some of the worst behaviors he sees in the industry today. According to Patrick, everybody knows the basics and the general, but everybody seems to overlook training and education. We take it for granted that people understand and know things. But people do not know how to use the equipment properly, or they misuse it. Younger generations look at the senior people and make the same mistakes. They need basic training. And they learn better when they can touch it and feel it. Fall protection is not simple. It cannot solve every issue. But when you need it, it is a great thing to have.  Resources: https://www.healthandsafetynow.com (Total Health & Safety Solutions) https://safetyfm.com/ (Safety FM) Patrick Harel's phone: 920-216-9825 Patrick Harel's email
