Damian, a NYC native currently residing in Germany, is promoting his new YouTube series covering the long history of the legendary NYC hard rock band, Riot: IMMORTAL SOUL: A RIOT TRIBUTE & CONCERT FILM. His 4-part documentary mini-series explores the history and archives of the different eras of the band, spotlighting specific live performances from each era. With vintage concert footage, 8mm personal film, concert advertisements plus hundreds of never seen before photos obtained from the family & estate of Mark Reale, as the Filmmaker states, “It's a great story. My goal is so Riot is not forgotten”. Additionally, post-conversation with Damian, we caught up with Rick Ventura, Riot Guitarist from 1979 – 1983 & Founder of current & active band, Riot Act. On this edition of Feckin' Metal, I chat to Oliver Weinsheimer (Oli), who is the organiser of the long-established Keep It True festival in Germany, along with several other heavy metal festivals over the years. We discuss the early days of the festival and the inspiration behind it, consulting the phone book to find bands, branching out to two festivals a year, booking bands for exclusive sets, helping to reunite bands, the placement of legacy acts on the top of the bill, and what the future holds for Keep It True. Oli answered all the tough questions in what turned out to be a very revealing interview.
This week, we continue our day-by-day, gig-by-gig recap of Night Demon's fall 2022 Year of the Demon Tour. The story resumes in Karlsruhe, Germany, at the same venue where the band filmed their "Heavy Metal Heat" official video back in 2015. As usual, the boys provide behind-the-scenes details of the gig, plus interviews with fans and live clips from the show, as well as anecdotes about a hotel featuring taxidermy and a treehouse. The next day in Lichtenfels, Night Demon played a small, narrow, packed and sweaty gig at an Irish pub for metal in Germany, with a most unusual setlist featuring covers you've probably never heard them play. Listen in to hear clips in all their unpolished glory. We round out this episode with coverage of the Vienna gig at the Escape Metal Corner venue, where the band played a killer set and interviewed some extremely dedicated fans.Become a subscriber today at nightdemon.net/subscriber. "The Howling Man" has long been recognized as an all-time fan favorite in the Night Demon catalogue. This week we conclude our deep dive into the track by examining "The Howling Man" in the live arena. You will hear about the first times it was performed live back in 2014, and why it works so well in the live setting. The guys explain the origins of the sample that begins the song, and then proceed to go through a detailed breakdown of the different instrumental parts. Of particular note, Armand enumerates how and why he has adapted the guitar parts from the original recorded version, adding little nuances and ear candy that were not there before. You will discover how a live performance of "The Howling Man" began as an out-of-tune train wreck at a German festival earlier this year, only for Night Demon to emerge triumphant in the end. Finally, Jarvis reveals an upcoming project relating to The Twilight Zone.Become a subscriber today at nightdemon.net/subscriber. This week, we delve into the live version of Iron Maiden's "Wasted Years" that appears on Night Demon's newly released compilation album, Year of the Demon. The guys reflect on how they came to be familiar with Iron Maiden during their childhood years and how Maiden became an inspiration to each of them and to Night Demon as a whole. They talk about the mantra "What would Maiden do?" You will hear why Night Demon chose "Wasted Years" as a cover song, and specifically how they relate to it lyrically. We also explore the history of "Wasted Years" in the Night Demon set, from humble beginnings at a dive bar in Miami to one of the grandest true metal stages in the world in Germany. Night Demon also explain the omission of this recording from the Live Darkness album, and the subsequent decision to include it as the b-side to the "Vysteria" single in 2020. You will learn why Night Demon will not record a studio version of the song. Become a subscriber today at nightdemon.net/subscriber. This week, I speak to night Demon frontman, and generally very busy bloke, Jarvis Leatherby. We discuss Night Demon's approach to releasing music, Jarvis's role in bringing Cirith Ungol back to the stage, what festivals like Keep It True and Up The Hammers mean to the scene, how Jarvis took matters into his own hands and ended up managing Visigoth, The Legacy Of The Beast video game - and a broader discussion about band mythology, and we even chat briefly about DDP Yoga! This was a very enjoyable episode for me, and I appreciated Jarvis's honestly and openness. FECK! *Originally released October 9th, 2020
On May 2, 2021, Night Demon hosted a Zoom conference call for 14 lucky podcast subscribers, under the premise of "Ask the Demon Live." This episode airs part one of that Zoom chat, including a fistful of exclusive, breaking news items relating to the contents and release date of the new album, rescheduled tour dates, the forthcoming ultimate edition of the Night Demon EP, the High Roller reissue of the EP out now, plans for a compilation of cover tunes, and the like. You'll also hear a multitude of heartfelt testimonials and hilarious, unscripted interactions between the band and diehard (albeit slightly intoxicated in some cases) fans in Buffalo, Dallas, Berlin, France, Connecticut, Catalina and a random golf course somewhere in Ohio. There's even a special guest appearance from Jarvis's Mom and stepfather. Night Demon has always been a close-knit family that transcends music, and this episode is proof positive. This week, we conclude the two-part deep dive into the song "Darkness Remains." The band picks up the story by providing recording details for the song, including locations, gear, tones, and even a click track. Armand walks you through the painstaking composition of the song's epic closing guitar solo, part-by-part, including note choices, timing, and why the live version differs from the studio version. Dusty explains how, from a drumming perspective, this song is a perfect example of knowing when to play and when not to play. And Jarvis breaks down the lyrics, explaining how this song fits into the three-part trilogy on the album. You'll learn how and why the "watery" vocal effect was achieved. Finally, the guys talk about playing "Darkness Remains" live, how it connects with audiences, the lighting effects, tempos, and energy.Become a subscriber today at nightdemon.net/subscriber. This week's episode concludes the four-part Cirith Ungol Story. We pick up the tale as Cirith Ungol join forces with Night Demon to play concerts around the world in 2017, including triumphant gigs at Keep It True and Up the Hammers festivals. You will learn how Armand came to fill in for Cirith Ungol at a series of high-profile European gigs, including Frost and Fire London, on two days' notice. The guys take you through the "Witch's Game" single in 2018, and then describe the writing and recording processes for what became the Forever Black album in 2020. Excerpts of highlight tracks are played, and the Night Demon members reflect on both their contributions and their boundaries to the album. Cirith Ungol share a glimpse of their exciting future release plans. And both bands stress their brotherhood and familial ties as the story of Cirith Ungol continues to be written in the years to come.BONUS CONTENT:Bootleg audio of Join The Legion, Black Machine, and Frost and Fire live from the Frost and Fire III festival (2017) Never before heard Witch's Game demo Gallery of over 100 unearthed pro shot photos from Kulturpalast in Hamburg, Germany (2018) with Armand John Anthony on 2nd guitar Streaming audio from Rockpalast (2018) with Armand John Anthony on 2nd guitar Legions Arise and The Frost Monstreme demos from the comeback album Forever BlackCirith Ungol - https://www.facebook.com/cirithungolofficial https://www.metalblade.com/cirithungol/Frost and Fire Festival - https://www.facebook.com/frostandfiremetalfest/Keep It True - https://www.facebook.com/keepittruefestival/Up the Hammers - https://www.facebook.com/upthehammersfestival/Stonehenge - https://www.britannica.com/topic/StonehengeRock Hard Festival - https://www.facebook.com/rockhardfestival/Metal Blade Records - https://www.metalblade.comCaptains Quarters Recording Studio - https://www.facebook.com/armandrecords/

Brian Ross lovpriser Geri Halliwell og håner Elvis. Lyden av en buss som kjørte forbi holdt på å bli med på "Court in the Act". Janick Gers burde ha spilt i Deep Purple. Keep it True holder ikke ord. "The name VENOM is both loved and loathed in the metal world, but regardless of your take on the band they are known first and foremost as the pioneers of extreme metal as we know it. Almost 40 years after their inception, the revitalized 1989 - 1992 line-up of guitaristJeff “Mantas” Dunn, vocalist/bassist Tony “Demolition Man” Dolan and drummer Anthony “Abaddon” Bray have returned with a monster of an album, »Avé«. It’s a reunion that was unexpected at the outset - even by the band members themselves - but the end result after getting their collective legs back is an album that trueVENOM fans will gladly add to the top of their playlists. VENOM INC. was born on April 24th, 2015 at the annual Keep It True Festival in Lauda-Königshofen, Germany. Mantas and Dolan were focused on M:PIRE OF EVIL, having invested years’ worth of blood, sweat and tears in recording and touring to keep the band alive. An offer to play Keep It True was accompanied by a request to haveAbaddon - who would be in attendance - to join the band during the set to perform some VENOM classics as a treat for the fans. Mantasand Abaddon hadn’t spoken in almost two decades, leaving Dolanto try and make the epic reunion a reality." Ben talked to Tony Dolan about how Venom Inc came to be, their debut album, Ave Satanas, and his Luciferian beliefs. Aired 3rd August 2017.
