Send us a textWe explore why the NBA should change its playoff format from the current conference-based system to a true 1-16 seeding regardless of East or West. This change would create better matchups, make the regular season more meaningful, and ensure the best teams make the playoffs.• Current format separates Eastern and Western conferences with 8 teams from each making playoffs, plus play-in teams• NBA has changed playoff formats multiple times since the inaugural 1947-48 season• A 1-16 format would create exciting potential matchups like OKC vs Hawks (Shai vs Trae Young or teams like the Clippers vs Pacers)• Conference-based playoffs limit cross-country travel but more entertaining matchups outweigh this concern• Regular season would become more important with teams competing for top 16 spots overall• Play-in tournament should be eliminated as it rewards teams that weren't good enough in regular season• Better matchups would lead to higher viewership and a superior basketball productPlease make sure to like, subscribe, comment to anyone who's anyone about the show. On this episode of The Drive & Dish NBA Podcast, hosted by Kevin Rafuse (@rafusetolose) and Justin Cousart (@JustinContheAir), the guys start the showing by bringing back the Doom Meter for the Rockets and Clippers. How concerned should each team be with their early exit and how does it compare to other teams that have been eliminated already. Then, a dive into the second round of the NBA Playoff. The Pacers have jumped out to a 2-1 on the Cavaliers. Can the Cavs blame it on injuries or is there something more concerning here? The Knicks meanwhile have gone into Boston and taken the first two games. How have the Knicks been able to come back late in games and what the Celtics can do to adjust on the road. Then a trip out West where the Nuggets are up 2-1 on the Thunder. What's been the key to the Nuggets playoff surge and who needs to step up for OKC to get even. Finally, the Timberwolves and Warriors are tied at a game a piece but Stephen Curry is out with a hamstring injury. Does this mean the end of the road for the Dubs or should the Timberwolves not let their guard down? Listen to the show wherever you get your podcasts and watch the show on YouTube!
