Doves llega con sus Constellations for the lonely. Un programa muy muy especial para mí porque entrevisto a un dúo maravilloso, os descubro una de mis bandas favoritas y hablamos de realeza de Manchester. Qué placer. Once a year, the Grammys will fall right on the Yellow Brit Road slot, and I usually make no effort to cover them. Listen on for a few UK/IE music-related updates. I also do what the Grammys don't: encourage rising artists. So click play and enjoy some good new music, plus a wee celebration of Primal Scream's XTRMNTR, that turned 25 this week. Music by Primal Scream, Nova Twins, Sam Fender, Tooth Gore, overpass, Hotgirl, Ellie Dixon, Too Many Temples, Jadu Heart, The Gentle Good, The Lathums, swim school. Find this week's playlist here. Do try and support artists directly! Touch that dial and tune in live! We're on at CFRC 101.9 FM in Kingston, or on cfrc.ca, Sundays 8 to 9:30 PM! Like what we do? CFRC is in the middle of its annual funding drive! Donate to help keep our 102-year old station going! Kurtis is back with a fresh wave of music. After a week in London, he's back with a mix of indie, mod revival, electronica, house, and 80s new wave.He featured two tracks from the iconic album Strangeways, Here We Come by The Smiths, which recently celebrated its 35th anniversary. The album is still considered one of the most influential indie albums.Plus, new music from two of the most exciting new bands in the indie scene: The Lathums and The Reytons. The Lathums' single Thoughts of a Child is a reflective ballad about the innocence of youth, while The Reytons' single Let Me Breathe is a high-energy punk anthem about breaking free from constraints. As promised, we're Making Mondays Happy Again! For more info and tracklisting, visit https://thefaceradio.com/side-effects.Tune into new broadcasts of Side Effects, LIVE, Monday from 2 - 4 PM EST / 7 - 9 PM GMT on The Face Radio.Dig this show? In episode #137 of The XS Noize Podcast, Mark Millar meets fast-rising Sunderland artist Tom A. Smith to discuss his latest release EP3. Despite still being a teenager, Sunderland-based newcomer Tom A. Smith has already achieved more than most artists do in a lifetime. He played his first ever gig aged just eight, supporting local psychedelic rockers Detroit Social Club at legendary Newcastle venue The Cluny; he performed at Glastonbury before he was even in secondary school, and Tim Burgess handpicked him to play his stage at Kendal Calling, making him the festival's youngest ever performer. He has played live with local hero Sam Fender and Catfish & The Bottlemen and supported other Northern acts on the rise, like The Lathums and The Mysterines. In this interview, Tom A Smith talks about EP3, songwriting with Miles Kane, performing at Glastonbury, guilty pleasures, and lots more. You may have noticed a distinct lack of social media stuff and episodes being put out in the last few months. I got quite sick during almost the whole of March and into May after working hard professionally as well as on the High Frequency EP and the shows to support its release. I'd like to thank Ant and Corky for coming on the last episode to talk about the history of our band and the recording of our new EP ‘Some Songs You May Have Heard… But Not Like This!' which I hope you've listened to and enjoyed. I'd also like to thank the handful of listeners who checked in on me while I was away, I really appreciate it. I'm OK now and looking forward to getting back to work on the podcast. On this episode I cover the news from the last four months which concerns The Sisters of Mercy, The Mad Caddies, Moby, U.K. Subs, Yellowcard, Peter Murphy of Bauhaus, Danzig, Weezer, BGH, Blink-182, Less Than Jake, The Cure, Amyl And The Sniffers, Bad Cop/Bad Cop, Circle Jerks, Public Image Limited, vinyl sales, The Misfits, Devo, Doom Generator, Descendents, Adolescents, Dead Kennedys, Lektron, Flogging Molly, X, Siouxie Sioux, Crass, Alice Cooper, Social Distortion, Laura Jane Grace, The Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame, The Distillers, Sum 41, Rancid, The Hives, Dropkick Murphys, Stiff Little Fingers and Steve Jones, The Toy Dolls, Foo Fighters, Bowling For Soup, Lagwagon. On this episode of the Banned Biographies podcast your host, Tom Austin-Morgan, lets you know what's been going on since the last TWO episodes and what you can expect from the next one. Firstly, I'd like to thank Zach Blair again very much for giving up some of his precious time to talk to me at the end of last year, it was so nice to meet him and find out he was just a regular, nice dude who enjoys chatting music. But, I released a sneaky extra episode this month, didn't I? I'd been wanting to talk to Laurie Black since I saw her support Adam Ant at the end of last Summer. Thanks to photographer Max Caine we reconnected and recorded that great conversation you heard a couple of weeks ago. Australian listeners, you still have time to get yourselves to a show at the Adelaide and Melbourne fringe festivals to go and see what she's all about. I urge you to go and see her, you won't be disappointed. It's been a really great month for interaction and I'm really glad you all feel passionate enough about music and have been encouraged to get in touch with me. I love a good natter about music, so please do stay in touch and, if you've not got in touch via social media or email then please do, and do go and leave me a five star rating and more importantly a review on Apple Podcasts. News this month concerns Terry Hall, Vivienne Westwood, The Punk Rock Museum, Steve Ignorant, Public Image Limited representing Ireland at Eurovision, Billy Idol, The Damned, The Real McKenzies, NOFX, Sleaford Mods, Danzig, Fall Out Boy, Bouncing Souls, Pantera being removed from European shows, Flogging Molly, The Meffs, Tom Verlaine, Pussy Riot, Siouxsie Sioux, Ozzy Osbourne and more. The youngest album to feature to date on the XS Long Player features on this episode as we head up to Wigan to take a look at the number 1, debut album from The Lathums. Being barely a year old means that the making of this classic LP is still fresh in the mind of Lathums' front man Alex Moore who spoke to Jim about his memories from the session, the early days of the band and how music was almost like a type of therapy to him in the early days. Take a listen to the whole of the album here: https://open.spotify.com/album/2r8yXie5ySfYgRuxmceSmf?si=VXA-nhR8ShGFTKMJB-VjzQ The XS Long player Podcast is taken from the XS Long player radio show on XS Manchester: A classic album played in full - listen live via www.xsmanchester.co.uk - where Jim also hosts the XS Evening Show. Hello and welcome to Bounce FM with me DJ Chappers!Today's show is all about '90s rock anthems, which seems to always be overlooked by the awesome pop, hip-hop and dance tracks that just took over the '90s, but let's not forget the rock, grunge, metal, indie and alternative genres of the 90s; music that is and was absolutely groundbreaking, its music that has shaped and moulded the music we still hear today, the music released all through the noughties, through the teens and now the 2020s. It still rumbles on, a lot of '90s rock is still extremely relevant today, '90s rock is timeless and it has and still does to this day inspire musicians; but don't just take my word for it, listen to the influences in the songs of the likes of the following Arctic Monkeys, Libertines, The Frattellis, The Kooks, White Stripes, The Black Keys, Royal Blood, Sam Fender, The Reytons, The Lathums, the list goes on and like a line from The Lathums' How Beautiful Life Can Be track says “If I'm to inspire, it's by example not by greed” to me that means that The Lathums have taken inspiration from many other musicians, which you can hear predominantly through each of their songs, and I'm pretty sure in many years time The Lathums will be the inspiration for many future musicians, thus keeping the wheels of music turning and carry on the circle of making music, inspiration, new emerging talent, making music, inspiration, new emerging talent, and so on!So get your air guitars out, grab a drink and enjoy!
Red Rum Club are a six-piece band from Liverpool, UK. It's difficult to pin down their sound, as it almost transcends genre. Many have tried to put their finger on it. Many have failed. They describe it themselves in our interview as “… Trumpety Happiness!” The band released their third studio album, "How To Steal The World" in 2021, which landed them their first Official UK Top 40. They're no strangers to being on the road, as they've been touring extensively and honing their craft for a good while now, most recently supporting Circa Waves, on their sell out UK tour. We've managed to catch up with Red Rum Club just before they embark on their exciting first US Tour in March 2022, where they will support The Lathums across North America. They'll be playing at multiple venues and even making an appearance at the prestigious SXSW in Austin, Texas. Upon returning home, Red Rum Club will set off on their largest UK Tour to date, so 2022 promises to be a big year indeed for the band.
We are joined by Wigan Band "Stanleys". We spoke about touring, supporting Lathums and Jamie Webster. They taught us about Wigan, mentioning things such as 'Wigan Kebabs' and 'Pee Wets' and also mentioned raising money for charity through 'Wigan band aid'. Boss lads and had fun doing this one.
One of the best UK bands around - Stanleys - joined us on the virtual sofa this week! Jake gave us a deep dive into the start of the band, and what it was like building upon their incredible debut singles. We move onto the new EP and their creative process before analysing Wigan - from the music scene to Wigan kebabs!! We finish on their recording at the DW stadium and working with top brands!! New artists are recommended - Facades, Flechettes, River, Yard Act, Slow Time Mondays, Budd The Band, Holden James and El Camino Acid. We hope you enjoyed, see you next week xx

Well well well, the boys react here to the UK entering a second lockdown, meaning they won't be able to film the podcast in the same room for at least four weeks :( They reflect on recording the podcast during the first lockdown, and discuss what the plan is moving forward, mainly the focus on more short form videos and content. This leads to a discussion on the independent music industry, and what the second lockdown means to it. Further to this, what bands and artists can attempt to do to keep going doing these difficult times. Despite lockdown, The Lathums put on their free virtual gig recently, the lads discuss how impressive it was and how the approach was very smart and successful for the band and the fans... tunes out a virtual gig DOESN"T have to cost £7!!
