Rev. Celeste's guest is Lori Gibson-Washington, the calming communications coach. Lori G-Dub is a laid-back facilitator, a calming speaker and coach and a witty blogger. A former instructor for International Business Negotiations at University of California-Berkeley's International Diplomacy Program, she has over 20 years of experience consulting and coaching ire the differences in communication, in conflict resolution and leadership. Lori is a wife, daughter, the bonus mom of two and has two grandsons. Lori is a certified Transformational Life Coach through the Life Mastery Institute. Lori is also certified to administer Myers-Briggs, LIFO, and FIRO Element-B. Myers-Briggs looks at introverts and extroverts, and LIFO Element B looks at the inclusion, control and openness that we want and that we give. She's high inclusion but moderately wants to be included. The inquiry is about how you need to be in control.GeeDub, as The Calming Coach, consults with groups to improve morale and to better understand cultural differences within teams for better productivity and profitability. She coaches individual professionals and leaders to get along with folk who disturb their calm. She learns what motivates people. She finds out what's important to them, what triggers them and what makes their heart sing! She discusses communication style. As a child, she was the mediator when fights broke out. One of the people she broke up became a major leader in the Crypts gang. She is the one who sees conflict or not at peace, who tries to help them. She studied human connection and continued to learn about people and how to feel better when talking to each other. She's an extrovert, intuitive, feeling and is perceptive. She explored what happens when sensibilities are violated. As an extrovert, she gets fueled by people. Introverts get their energy from being alone. Lori uses the platinum rule: treat people the way they want to be treated. She encourages people to find the commonality.Lori was brought up in a progressive Baptist church during the Civil Rights area, and it was important to give of yourself. She now identifies as spiritual, but not religious. Her parents taught her to treat people fairly. Since Kwanzaa in the 60's, she adopted the principle of leaving the world better than she found it. CSL resonated with her because it brings together the best of all practices and faiths. Lori calls herself a New Thought follower of Jesus. A spiritual reader told her once that she saw Jesus all around her. While serving her an egg salad sandwich, a woman told her that Jesus was in Lori's heart.Due to demand, Lori took courses like becoming a certified transformational life coach with the Life Mastery Institute with Mary Morrissey. Lori looks at their life, income, creative expressions and health and realizes that priorities change depending on where you are in your life. When she stopped singing, her energy shifted and she was unaware of how it affected her until someone brought it to her attention. It was just the nudge she needed to move back into her authentic self. Lori brings singing into workshops. In 1997, Lori became one of the original members of the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir and she stayed for ten years. She became a consultant and presented calm retreats for the choir. She remains connected to the members. Lori has done diversity work since the 90's. She helps people collaborate using the life orientations: harmony, excellence, reason and action. She also uses conflict skills. Lori can be found on Facebook as the Calming Coach. http://miraclesinwellness.com As a former nurse, a nurse practitioner with a Master's degree in nursing from DePaul University. At first, I learned natural ways to heal parasites from Dr. James Overman and one of his students. Then I became a certified Theta Healer, Emotion Code facilitator, Life Mastery Institute coach, Higher Brain Living Facilitator. What I learned is that we are spiritual beings living a human experience. We heal on many levels. Loneliness is an unpleasant emotional response to perceived isolation. Loneliness is also described as social pain—a psychological mechanism which motivates individuals to seek social connections. It is often associated with an unwanted lack of connection and intimacy.
Three relationship secrets according to Matt Boggs, the founder of Love and Relationships, Life Mastery Institute, are discussed which date back to cave men and cave women. Kundalini yoga uses chants - these are powerful words that bring about inherent desires - all words are powerful. Wine- I am a fan of South African wines largely because the French are involved in the vineyards also. The South Africans love a BRAII - which is a BBQ. Their BRAII is far more exotic than the hamburgers and hot dogs.. as a vegetarian I am not a participant in most BBQs. The South Africans came to NYC and bbq'ed for us .. “Mandala" is a Sanskrit word that means "circle". Mandalas generally have one center point, from which emanates an array of symbols, shapes and forms. Many tribes throughout North America also used mandalas as ways to connect with the gods. These were often circular forms made from the skins of animals that were hunted, and incorporated feathers and other found objects. Native Americans believed that the Mandala represents: The circle of life, and the path from birth to death The unification of man, nature, and the spiritual in a cyclical form A way to connect with the creators While mandalas are used as physical forms of design in many Native tribes, the circular pattern is also essential to ceremonial practices and rituals. It is found in many dances, both in individual movements and as a greater movement around a central point, often a fire or important figure. Drawing and coloring a mandala can be a highly enriching personal experience in which you look inside yourself and find the shapes, colors and patterns to represent anything from your current state of mind to your most deeply-desired wish for yourself, for a loved one, or for humanity. You can design a mandala to symbolize a state of mind that you would like to achieve. Mandalas are great tools for meditation and increasing self- awareness. Many different cultures around the world use mandalas in their spiritual practices. The best thing about designing your own mandala is that you have the freedom to choose whatever shapes and colors that you feel express your sense of self and your view of reality. Your mandala is yours, and you have the freedom to use your creativity to create a mandala drawing that is uniquely you. ~ Writes Monika For Monika's Mandala Art Course, please visit: https://mandala.colouryourdream.co.uk/courses/ — Valeria interviews Monika Cilmi. In this episode of the Hearts Entwined Podcast, Lyn talks to Carolann DeSelms, a certified DreamBuilder Coach and Life Mastery Consultant, to talk about how to know, deal with and overcome toxic relationships. They discuss the effects of substance abuse in relationships, the importance of forgiveness and gratitude, the many ways of living a happy life, and much much more... We invest so much in our relationships that leaving one doesn’t even cross our minds even if it’s not healthy, fulfilling or beneficial for both sides anymore. Know what’s best for your own self care and well-being. If you think staying with the person you love is going to be harmful to your health and well-being, then there are things that need to change. It’s time to get out of that toxic relationship! It’s a priority to recognise the need to love yourself first as a way to improve and develop healthy future relationships. Start listening in and join the discussion. KEY TAKEAWAYS Don’t beat yourself up because your relationship failed. You may not have had the awareness, all the resources and information you need to take the necessary action. You don’t know what you don’t know. Just understand you're not alone and that deep within, you know you're worth more. You can choose to either stay stuck and be resentful and angry or you can let go, move on and be healthy and happy. A person’s substance abuse can quite often lead to a toxic relationship. The addiction starts to negatively impact the relationship and impede its growth. It can be difficult to see at what stage this comes into play. Seeking professional help is highly encouraged if the relationship is to have any chance to heal, become healthy and thrive. It’s not your responsibility to 'fix' the other person. You can’t force them to do something, they have to want to do it for themselves. Once you've left a toxic relationship remember that forgiveness for them (not their behaviours) & forgiveness for yourself and gratitude are two things that can help you heal, move on and progress. Forgiveness is not about making terrible words or actions acceptable; It’s all about freeing and helping yourself. If you let your negative emotions about a situation go, you are instantly liberated and in a healthier place (they will no longer have any power over you) which makes it easier to move on. ‘You could be right.’ or ‘I’m sorry you feel that way.’ These are some suggestions that are better responses, that we can use to defuse a tense or potential conflict situation. In future you can decide to stay away from toxic people but you have to keep in mind that no matter how people treat you, you can always choose to show compassion and kindness, to rise up, develop and grow. BEST MOMENTS “You can’t run someone else’s life. Manipulation is never a good thing to do.” “Don’t get mad. Don’t get sad. Instead be curious.” "Give them the dignity to do what they need to do for themselves. You don’t have to condone behaviour that is unkind or hurtful.” “We don’t have to be products of our past.” “Sometimes, we terrify ourselves with our imagination.” “Bad behaviour is not okay, but forgive the individual. The individual is not bad, it’s what they did that's bad.” “If you want to live a happy life, don’t make other people unhappy.” ABOUT THE GUEST Carolann DeSelms, Ph. D. But, the truth was, the living that paycheck to paycheck life was not nearly enough to live a good life, and not even close to providing the life she really wanted to live. She decided she was done with corporate living (and had no desire to work her way up that ladder), so she set out to start her own business… only to find that “paychecks” were even less consistent and she had no one to complain to.
