Peccato.
Well…that wasn't very good, was it? England had made a steady start to life under Lee Carlsey, but our man at Wembley Jack Pitt-Brooke called them ‘abysmal' as they crashed to a 1-2 defeat. Belgium boss Domenico Tedesco could have been in trouble too, his side were being played off the park by Italy until Lorenzo Pellegrini was sent off and so the Belgians came back from 0-2 down to draw 2-2. Australia had a great result against China, Ghana didn't against Sudan (yes, we're casting our eye over the rest of the world now) but the worst news of the day is undoubtedly the announcement that Football Manager 2025 will be delayed until March next year.

With winners in every position, Mina and Nicky deservedly heap praise on a Roma side which is finally on the up after a topsy-turvy season to date. Could this win over Maurizio Sarri's hapless Lazio be the catalyst for a push for a top 4 place? As Paulo Dybala and Juventus look to part ways, we wonder if the bianconeri even need him in order to be the traditionally clinically ruthless team that doesn't thrill, but wins. And where is the willingness of Max Allegri to give the homegrown kids a go? What's happened to Inter and how dependent are they on Marcelo Brozović? Milan has a 50% chance of winning the scudetto from here, and we condemn the Cagliari fans who racially abused Fikayo Tomori and Mike Maignan in Sardinia, and Nicky gives us a preview of her recent discussion with Tomori for The Guardian. The story of Atalanta youth sensation Moustaphe Cisse who came off the bench to score the only goal of the match for Atalanta against Bologna. And we discuss Italy's chances of making it through the World Cup qualifying playoffs, with Thursday's match against North Macedonia in Palermo and possibly a final decider against either Portugal or Turkey. How confident are Nicky and Mina of Roberto Mancini's Azzurri making it to Qatar? Look out for a Patreon Chronicles Tifosi episode this week going in depth on Italian clubs' performances in Europe. A note for next week's podcast schedule: If Italy does not get past North Macedonia we'll be in your podcast feed as usual on Tuesday. If Italy does qualify for the final WCQ playoff round they will play on Tuesday evening (European time), so we will delay the pod to discuss that match, and then drop into your feed on Thursday. While Juventus have pulled away in their bid to claim a top-four spot, the Scudetto race and fight for survival are both rife with competition.AC Milan piled the pressure on fellow title contenders Napoli and Inter Milan on Saturday night as they edged past Empoli thanks to a Pierre Kalulu strike from distance. Napoli responded on Sunday with a huge 2-1 victory away at Hellas Verona as Victor Osimhen bagged a brace. Inter, however, was fortunate to escape Turin with a point on Sunday night. Atalanta was leapfrogged in the Serie A table by Lazio on Monday night after Ciro Immobile helped the Biancocolesti to an impressive win over the relegation-threatened Venezia. ll titolo della quattordicesima puntata della quarta stagione di J-TACTICS, trae spunto da "Fino all'ultimo respiro", (À bout de souffle) che è un film del 1960 scritto e diretto da Jean-Luc Godard, considerato il film manifesto della Nouvelle Vague. Fino alla fine....fino all'ultimo respiro! It was a week of the big teams winning away from home as a late Manuel Locatelli strike stole the derby della Mole, a.k.a. the Turin derby, for Juventus away at Torino, before the man of the moment later proposed to his girlfriend that night to cap off his winning goal exploits. In a nice touch, we learn a bit more about our hosts as Mina and Nicky begin the episode with something different, by telling personal stories of their football fandom. Also up for discussion is Milan's victory in Bergamo over Atalanta, and how good can this Milan team become? And has Napoli done enough yet to convince Mina and Nicky that they are the real deal after a 7th consecutive victory to begin the Serie A season, this time away at Fiorentina in a match that was marred by what Nicky describes as a crushing racial abuse incident directed at Napoli players. Then Mina is "loca" for Locatelli and Juve stringing together some excellent 1-0 wins, her favourite scoreline, over Chelsea in mid-week Champions League action and then in the derby, before Inter stages a comeback at Sassuolo with Edin Dzeko on fire.Lazio is incredibly smashed at Bologna, while Roma has a solid home win after Lorenzo Pellegrini penned a new contract extension.Nicky has praise for Sampdoria's Antonio Candreva staging his one-man goal of the season competition after yet another worldie in yet another 3-3 draw with Udinese, and we end on Roberto Mancini's Azzurri squad ins and outs as they prepare to face Spain in the semi-final of the UEFA Nations League in San Siro.Look out for next week's episode of Serie A Chronicles where we'll go in depth on Italy's matches to potentially see them lift a second European trophy in the space of a few months.Don't forget our ChroniclesQ&A mailbag show on Friday.Tweet us your questions to @serieAchronpod with the hashtag #ChroniclesQandA00:00 Mina's and Nicky's football fandom08:10 Shoutout to our tifosi10:35 Atalanta v Milan (2-3)25:00 Fiorentina v Napoli (1-2)40:10 Torino v Juventus (0-1)52:05 Sassuolo v Inter (1-2)57:50 Bologna v Lazio (3-0)59:25 Roma v Empoli (2-0)60:45 Sampdoria v Udinese (3-3)61:50 UEFA Nations League semi-final: Italy squadSubscribe and listen in each Tuesday as we put our own unique spin on all things calcio.Find Serie A Chronicles on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and at our website serieachronicles.com.Subscribe to Serie A Chronicles on the Acast app, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts, and give us a rating and review on Apple Podcasts. You can also become a Chronicles Tifoso by supporting the podcast to help keep us running, at serieachronicles.com/supporter.Find all the links here.Serie A Chronicles is a Media Chronicles production.Digital content and social media by Calido Media.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/serie-a-chronicles.
