Welcome to West Anderson (never to be confused with its bitter rival, East Anderson). West A (as the locals call it) is known for sunsets, rambling narratives, roadkill, and its annual city-wide scavenger hunt, "Quest Anderson." The BIT Crew brings West A to life with expected and unexpected characters, including a pontificating cactus and an armadillo choir! Simply delightful, don't you think? You may even learn a few things about Bavaria that might be true! Enjoy these highlights from West Anderson's Podcast Network's offerings: Writer's Block with Peter Schlock: Hosted by Peter Schlock and Harvard Professor and Library Scientist, Harvey Danielson, PhD. Peter speaks with the voice inside his head and has a list and narration for every situation. Professor Danielson is an eternal optimist with a problematic offspring. West Anderson Sunsets: Co-Hosts Dinah Dinanson and Bobbie Flinch provide deep minute-by-minute color analysis of each day's sunset. Survival Recipes: Roadkill for Supper: Peg and Jimmy share roadkill preparations to help put the local roadkill surplus to good use. MYTH: Roadkill does not require elaborate treatments. Just treat it like the meat you buy at the supermarket. Sponsors include Carrie's Cry Me a River Therapy Clinics, The Clown Shoppe, Mike - the cell phone tower petition guy, The Cactus & Armadillo Coalition + West A's Armadillo Choir, The Unlearn to Learn Academy, and Madame Terry's (Mis)Match Maker Services, February is the BIT Comedy Network's official WES ANDERSON TRIBUTE MONTH! Justin Timberlake is an American singer, songwriter, actor, and producer who first rose to fame as one of the lead singers for the legendary pop group *NSYNC before establishing himself as a top-tier solo artist and versatile entertainer. With his smooth vocals, slick dance moves, and dynamic stage presence, Timberlake has become one of pop music's most prolific artists and entertainers over the past two decades. Early Life and *NSYNC Justin Randall Timberlake was born in Memphis, Tennessee on January 31, 1981 to Lynn and Randall Timberlake. He was raised as a Baptist and performed often as a child, showcasing his singing talents at local talent shows and in his church choir. When Timberlake was 11, he made an appearance on the talent competition Star Search, performing country music songs. In 1993, Timberlake was recruited to join the new pop group *NSYNC along with members JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and Lance Bass. The group shot to stardom in the late 1990s during the boy band craze, selling over 56 million records worldwide thanks largely to Timberlake's vocals and stage presence. As the group's popularity skyrocketed, Timberlake's fame expanded beyond music thanks to appearances on shows like Nickelodeon and work as a model. Solo Career – Justified In 2002, Timberlake shocked the music world by announcing he was leaving *NSYNC to pursue a solo music career. Skepticism quickly turned to praise when Timberlake released his debut solo album Justified in November 2002. Fueled by hit singles like “Cry Me a River” and “Rock Your Body,” Justified sold over 7 million copies while showcasing Timberlake's talents as a songwriter, producer, and arranger. At the Grammys, Timberlake was nominated for Album of the Year and cemented his status as pop music's newest superstar. Continued Music Success in the 2000s On the heels of Justified, Timberlake continued achieving massive success across music, film and business in the 2000s decade. His 2006 album FutureSex/LoveSounds debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts and contained hit singles like “SexyBack”, “My Love”, and “What Goes Around...Comes Around.” For his dynamic live performances during the FutureSex/LoveSounds tour, Timberlake won two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Music Direction and Technical Direction. Expanding into movies, Timberlake received praise for supporting roles in films like Alpha Dog, Black Snake Moan, and The Social Network. He also began several business ventures, launching clothing lines, co-owning restaurants, golf courses, and eventually investing in a handful of tech startups. After a musical hiatus from 2007-2012, Timberlake came back in vintage form with The 20/20 Experience (2013) and The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2 (2013). Together, they became the best-selling albums of the year and contain hit singles like “Suit & Tie” and “Mirrors.” On the back of the 20/20 albums and Experience tour, Timberlake fully re-established himself as an unparalleled force in pop music and live performing. Continued Acting, Super Bowl, Man of the Woods Embracing acting roles with equal passion as his music, Timberlake showcased both his comedic and dramatic talents in films ranging from Friends with Benefits (2011), Trouble with Curve (2012), Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) and Runner Runner (2013). In early 2018, Timberlake headlined the Super Bowl LII halftime show, marking his triumphant return to the stage of pop music's biggest spectacle 14 years after his controversial performance alongside Janet Jackson. The show featured Timberlake flawlessly singing and dancing through his classic catalog of hits both old and new. With the most-watched musical performance of all-time, the Super Bowl show affirmed Timberlake's status as an immortal pop icon. Later in 2018, Timberlake released his fifth studio album Man on the Woods which debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts. Though met with mixed reviews, the album nonetheless contained the hit single “Say Something” and incorporated country and roots influences. The accompanying Man of the Woods tour marked Timberlake's fifth world tour as he continued showcasing unique musical artistry and exceptional live performance abilities to audiences worldwide. Acting Successes and Super Bowl Return Throughout the late 2010s and early 2020s, Timberlake expanded his acting catalog by starring in films ranging from light-hearted comedies like Trolls (2016), to lead dramatic roles in Palmer (2021). His vocal performances in multiple Trolls movie soundtracks generated smash hits like “CAN'T STOP THE FEELING!” that firmly merged Timberlake's musical talents with his blossoming acting abilities. In early 2022, Timberlake again seized the global spotlight when he co-headlined the Super Bowl LVI halftime show alongside Mary J. Blige, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar. The hip-hop and R&B-centric performance marked Timberlake's third Super Bowl appearance, solidifying his unique status as a halftime show mainstay performer. Legacy With over 88 million records sold worldwide, an arm-length list of awards, dozens of smash singles, and universal acclaim for electric live performances, Justin Timberlake has firmly established himself as pop royalty over his multi-decade career. By seamlessly crossing over between music and film for two decades, Timberlake has become one of entertainment's most decorated and versatile stars. His influence across pop, R&B, hip-hop, and acting is nearly unmatched by any male entertainer of his generation. From leading the pop explosion of 1990s boy bands to dominating the charts as a renowned solo artist, Justin Timberlake has consistently reinvented himself at the cutting edge of entertainment for twenty-plus years. With his smooth voice, slick moves, unmatched stage charisma and diverse talents ranging from singing to acting, Timberlake delivers a level of popstar power matched only by luminaries like Michael Jackson and Prince. Though still actively recording music and starring in films at just 42 years old, Timberlake's vast career ensures enduring fame as one of history's preeminent entertainers. In this podcast I gave Arizona Secretary of State notice via Twitter but I wish to be first to apply for Trump's disqualification from getting on the Arizona ballot due to the 14th Amendment section 3! I'll be asking a judge for a court declaration that he is not eligible to run or have his name on the ballot here in Arizona moreover I'm calling for Kerry lakes disqualification and the immediate removal of other Arizona officials who took part in the insurrection namely andyBiggs & several others. Also I support the prosecution of bernovich, the former Arizona attorney general for refusing to publish a report on the results of the Arizona 2020 elections, which made it clear they were fair and Democratic! But I remind everyone of 300,000 missing ballots, from 17 postal stations and 14 swing States. They went missing under postmaster dejoys mishandling of course! I'm suing for his removal from office and to charge him and Mr Trump with 300,000 counts of felony mail theft! Ikonisista parivaljakoista ei voi puhua ilman, että mainitsee vuosituhannen vaihteen poppipariskunnan, farkkuasuistaankin tunnetun Britney Spearsin ja Justin Timberlaken! Kaksikon ero kirvoitti 2000-luvun alussa hittibiisit Cry Me a River ja Everytime.
MCM - Cry Me A River from the 2023 self-released Stolen Moments EP. MCM (aka Mid Century Modern) is a brand new Seattle-based duo featuring long-running emcee, producer, and community organizer King Khazm and singer/songwriter Jesse Kogita. In February, they released their debut EP Stolen Moments. The three-song EP sees the duo reimagine classic jazz standards by building a collage of samples, boom bap, bebop, and hip hop. On our Song of the Day, Ella Fitzgerald's classic “Cry Me a River,” adding potent verses from Khazm of regrets and heartbreak, staying true to the sorrowful original but adding a downtempo boom bap beat, samples from old films, and Kogita taking on the role of singing Fitzgerald's part. Ending with a sobbing woman, the song is both emotional and an incredibly original take on a song that's been a part of our musical canon for nearly a century and covered countless times. On February 25, 1963, Columbia Records released The Barbra Streisand Album. The first song was “Cry Me a River,” and with that a star was born. Barbra Joan Streisand had a zany personality backed by a talent that Stephen Sondheim once described as “one of the two or three best voices in the world of singing songs,” adding “It's not just her voice but her intensity, her passion and control.” Harold Arlen, another of her favorite composers, commented, ”This young lady . . . has a stunning future.” With all-male rock groups like the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and the Four Seasons ruling the charts, no one expected a twenty-year-old female singer from Brooklyn to not just hit No. 1, but repeat that accomplishment every decade that followed all the way to the next millennium and become the best-selling female recording artist of all time. Now, for the first time ever, comes the definitive book on the extensive recording career of this towering cultural icon, the Funny Girl considered by many to be the most talented singer of her generation. Barbra Streisand: The Music | The Albums | The Singles takes readers on a journey through every album, soundtrack, and single Streisand has released over the past sixty years. Our guide on this musical tour is Matt Howe, who has run Barbra Archives, the definitive Streisand-themed website, since 2003. He also has assisted Team Streisand on her Release Me album series. Besides analysis of every studio, live concert, and official compilation release, the book contains over three hundred FULL-COLOR photos from the albums, press kits, and Streisand herself.
Several years ago, I wrote a time-travel film treatment called “Song Trippers” about a quartet of lonely, damaged people who found solace through music. Each lost soul connects to a song that transports them back in time to the place in their youth when they were the happiest. Of course, we all know that music has magic power. There are songs that can trip my memory far from the here and now to earlier states of joyful wonderment, and sadness, too, if that's what's called for. It's strong medicine. For each episode in this series, I'll take an 8 Track down from the shelf and share it with you, along with some special memories, bonded by that spiritual epoxy that has forged the framework of my life's scaffold. - Captain Billy"CARRYING A TORCH"THE END OF THE WORLD by Julie London (Liberty, 1963)That indelible contralto voice… smoky, sultry, and so sexy: the quintessential “torch” singer, Julie London's singing career almost didn't happen. She had given up show business for her first husband, Jack Webb (Sgt. Friday in Dragnet, and successful Hollywood producer). When the marriage broke up she linked up with their friend, Bobby Troup, the musician and composer of Route 66, and great things started happening for the vocalist. In 1956 she recorded Cry Me a River, produced by Troup, for the film The Girl Can't Help it, and the tune entered the ledger of all time classic jazz standards (#48 in NPR's 50 Greatest Jazz Vocals). She went on to make over 30 albums, and this one, released in 1963, though more heavily orchestrated, features her blasé, no frills approach, standing unperturbed at the center of the lush arrangements. Adaptation was easy for this singer - check out her insouciant cover of Yummy Yummy Yummy I Got Love in My Tummy. (MUCH BETTER than the original). In legendary fashion, the gorgeous Julie Peck was discovered in 1945, running an elevator in Los Angeles, and an acting career was inevitable. 30 years later, still alluring, Julie was nominated for a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Dixie McCall in Emergency! (Produced by ex-husband Webb). Troup was also in the series: they all stayed friends.I'm melting as I enjoy this lounge classic, and in full agreement with record producer Simon Waronker's observation: “the lyrics poured out of her like a hurt bird”. Julie was a chain smoker from the age of 16, and it was lung cancer that brought her down in 1999. Was it a “Faustian” bargain: to trade the ravages of tar and nicotine for an eternally immortal sound? I'll let the philosophers puzzle that out.
