So So Def,R&B 风格的 LaFace 厂牌;Organized Noize 早期制作作品: TLC 的“What About Your Friends remix”(1992), OutKast 初次亮相, “Sleigh Ride remix” (1992),电影《小鬼当家2 》歌曲;*推荐 Netflix 纪录片 “The Art of Organized Noize” (2016);Dungeon Family 团体受 funk 和 soul 影响非常大,但区别于同时期西海岸的 G-Funk,他们对于乐器和声音的选择运用很有独到之处,并且在节奏设计上也是非常独创的,这也导致了他们说唱的 flow 变化及其灵活;Organized Noize 制作的首张专辑 Parental Advisory “Ghetto Street Funk” (1993) 风格更接近纽约;1993 年 LaFace 厂牌的圣诞歌曲合集中的 “Player's Ball”是 OutKast 的首发作品,发布即大获成功,1994 年首张专辑 “Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik”是 Organized Noize 制作风格的精华体现,展现了南方乡绅的 funky 气质,以及来自 P Funk 的影响;1994 年底为 TLC 制作了”Waterfall”使 ON 的才华被主流认可,成为了当时的抢手制作组合,也吸引到了 Interscope 的关注,促成了接下来与 ON 的千万美元合约,当然个性强烈对创作风格有坚持的 ON 由于无法向 Interscope 作出商业妥协又回到了亚特兰大,继续与老东家 LaFace 的合作;1995 年 The Source Award 最佳新人奖颁给 OutKast, André 在一片嘘声中的 “The South got something to say!” “Soul Food”是诗意的,饱含灵性与信仰的作品,它是对亚特兰大黑人历史的哀悼,祈求新世界秩序的希望,相比于激烈反抗体制的骄傲姿态,它更像是一种幸存者的谦卑,如此独特的叙事视角,只在亚特兰大,唯有 Dungeon Family;Organized Noize 为 1996 年的电影 “Set It Off” 监制制作的电影专辑;1996 年 OutKast 专辑 “ATLiens”温暖顺滑,二人的写词叙事功力更老练有趣,取材独特新鲜,擅长使用微妙含蓄的比喻让 OutKast 的内容具有鲜明特色;1998 年 OutKast 专辑“Aquemini” 对于组合来说是一个比较重要的转折之作,如万花筒一般奇妙多彩,他们的审美已经突破了 Hip Hop 框架,P-Funk,雷鬼的融合更多,在乐器的选择上拓宽了制作思路,是第一张获得 Source Magazine 五麦克高评价的南方说唱专辑;1998 年 Goodie Mob 的第二张专辑 “Still Standing”;1998- 1999年 Dungeon Family发表的作品有: Witchdocor 首张 “...A S.W.A.T Healin' Ritual”(1998), Sleepy's Theme “The Vinyl Room”(1998), Cool Breeze “East Point's Greatest Hit”(1999), Goodie Mob “World Party”(1999);至此 Dungeon Family 有一个时期分界,Organized Noize 的制作主导作用在 OutKast 中逐渐减少,OutKast 二人与 Mr.DJ 以制作组合 Earthtone III 开始创作,2000-2003 期间参与了许多客串与制作,包括 Mystikal,Kelis 和地窖其他成员;千禧年前后,亚特兰大经济发展愈加繁荣,crunk 这种超高能量的 party 音乐主导了亚特兰大及南方的说唱场景,这个时期整个南方的农村说唱获得商业关注,这类风格其实与 Organized Noize 所代表的 Dungeon 另类美学差别很大;2000 年 OutKast 的 “Stankonia”对于风格的探索和实验性更进一步,将他们的灵感来源挖掘运用到新的高度;2001 年 Dungeon Family 的作品有:Slimm Calhoun “The Skinny”(主要由 Earthtone III制作), Backbone “Concrete Law”(主要由 Organized Noize 制作), Dungeon Family 唯一一次以团体名发表的全员大合集 “Even In Darkness”;2002 年作品:Joi “Star Kitty's Revenge”, CeeLo Green 个人首张 “Cee-Lo Green and His Perfect Imperfections”, The Calhouns – “Made in Dirty South”;2003 年作品:Killer Mike “Monster”, Bubba Sparxxx “Deliverance”, Big Gipp “Mutant Mindframe”,以及 Dungeon Family 第二代合集 “Rico Wade Presents Da Connect “Dungeon Family 2nd Generation”, 其中之一就是成为后来亚特兰大代表人物的 Future,彼时以 Meathead 的名字亮相;2003 年最重要的作品当属 OutKast “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below”,商业大爆获得了格莱美多项大奖,Big Boi 的把控力和重要作用在这张中得以体现,组合的音乐性与视觉创意作为一个整体的另类审美对接下来的嘻哈影响深远;2005 年:Big Boi solo 领导的合集 “Big Boi Presents Purple Ribbon” ;2006 年:OutKast 组合最后一次发表作品 “Idlewild”, 二人主演的同名电影上映,Dungeon Family 的活跃期结束;2010 年 Big Boi “Sir Lucious Left Foot… The Son of Chico Dusty”是我们后来发觉牛逼的大作;2009 年 Khujo和Jneiro Jarel以 Willie Isz 之名在地下厂牌Lex Records 发表了实验性专辑 “Georgiavania”;2017 年 Organized Noize 发表了同名 EP,在新时代他们标志性的制作美学带来的感动是无与伦比的;最后,Rest in peace, Rico Wade.主题歌单请点击:YouTube Playlist & Apple Music Playlist本期节目 Playlist:Goodie Mob feat. "If you're wrong, you're wrong, and if you're right, you're right." - Malcolm X It's been a rough month in the Hip-Hop community, as we've said goodbye to Mister Cee, Rico Wade of Organized Noize, MC Duke, and Keith LeBlanc, all of whom are included in this episode's selection. Rest in peace to all, and thanks to them for all their contributions. Despite spending a fair amount of time (and £) digging in the vintage crates this month, the selection is mostly a mix of exploring my existing colllection, plus a few new brand new digital releases. I will be very impressed if there's anyone who knows every track here already! Mastodon : @airadam@mastodon.me.uk Twitch : @airadam13 - see upcoming schedule @ events.airadam.com

Thea Sebastian, the executive director at The Futures Institute, and Hanna Love, a fellow at The Brookings Institution, discuss their report “Separating fact from fiction” in retail theft across the U.S.” As retailers step up security measures and stricter antitheft laws take effect in states across the nation, their study claims shoplifting occurrences in major cities did not actually happen and circulating data on retail theft is unreliable and imprecise. They also share what they call “sensible ways” to address retail theft and empower local economies. Plus, we air WABE business reporter Marlon Hyde's feature from the “Young Business” series. The story spotlights a college student who created an online shipping platform that helps second-hand apparel businesses ship orders. Lastly, two legendary artists died over the weekend. Future, born Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn on November 20, 1983, initiated his music career under the pseudonym "Meathead," as part of the Georgia-based musical ensemble, Dungeon Family. Within this collective, he was a member of a smaller hip-hop group known as "Da Connect," where he earned the nickname "The Future" from group member G-Rock, a name which he later adopted as his stage name. His journey in music was significantly influenced by his cousin and fellow Dungeon Family member, Rico Wade of the respected Organized Noize, under whose mentorship Future released his initial mixtapes in 2010 and 2011, setting the stage for his subsequent mainstream success. Recognized for his mumble-styled vocals and a high volume of music output, Future has been hailed as a trailblazer in integrating melody and auto-tune in modern trap music. As for the unreleased song "Inspirations" by Future, it appears to be a leaked track as seen on various YouTube videos where it's referred to as "Inspiration" or "Inspirations" interchangeably. The song is labeled as "unreleased" and is available on YouTube channels with descriptions indicating it as either leaked or unreleased material. The song's exact details, including its production, lyrics, or release plans, are not publicly available or documented in major music databases or news outlets. The nature of unreleased or leaked songs often entails a lack of official information or recognition from the artist or the artist's record label. Learn more about your ad choices. B. Cox and J. Owe look back at OutKast's classic third album Aquemini as it turns 25. After the success of their sophomore album, 1996's ATLiens, Andre and Big Boi both had major life events that affected their outlooks and artistry, included breakups and the start of fatherhood. Given more creative license, the group sought to take even more control of the production of their third album. The album was largely self-produced along with contributions from Mr. DJ and their mentors Organized Noize. It featured guest appearances from Raekwon, George Clinton, fellow Dungeon Family members from Goodie Mob, Sleepy Brown, Cool Breeze, Witchdoctor, Big Rube and Erykah Badu. The album explored themes of the duality of the two emcees through their respective Zodiac signs (Big Boi's Aquarius and Andre's Gemini) and how they interpreted the same set of circumstances in everyday life. Both emcees were heavily influenced by music of their predecessors in Motwon and Stax Records as well as progressive rock and soul. The album was backed by three singles, the most successful being the funky, yet controversial "Rosa Parks". It was praised for its intricate and cutting lyricism, storytelling and imagery along with its vivid production. The album received the coveted 5-Mic rating in The Source and has been certified double platinum, cited as the duo's best work and one of the best albums of the decade regardless of region.Visit The Vault Classic Music Reviews Onlinewww.vaultclassicpod.comBuy Exclusive The Vault Podcast Merchandise!www.vaultclassicpod.com/storeSupport The Vault Classic Music Reviews on Buy Me A Coffeehttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/vaultclassicpodBuild Your Own Amazing Podcast Website In Less Than 5 Minutes!https://www.podpage.com/?via=ivecre8Show NotesOutKast's "Aquemini Turns 25 | Album Anniversary https://albumism.com/features/outkast-aquemini-album-anniversaryRock & Roll Globe: 'Return of The G': OutKast's 'Aquemini' at 25 https://rockandrollglobe.com/rap/return-of-the-g-outkasts-aquemini-at-25/Rock The Bells: OutKast's 'Aquemini' at 25: A Look Back At One of Music's Greatest Albumshttps://rockthebells.com/articles/outkast-aquemini-25-year-anniversary/Billboard: OutKast "Aquemini Is the Pinnacle of the Duo's Arthttps://www.billboard.com/music/rb-hip-hop/outkast-aquemini-anniversary-8477481/Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-vault-classic-music-reviews-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

B. Cox and J. Owe take a look back at Goodie Mob's sophomore album Still Standing as it turns 25. Three years after their landmark classic debut album Soul Food, the Atlanta quartet of Big Gipp, Khujo, T-Mo and CeeLo Green was still on a mission to let the world know about life in the "Dirty South". Despite releasing their album in a southern hip-hop arena that was dominated at the time by their New Orleans counterparts from No Limit, the Mob was ready to show the world that they were a testament to their album title. The album was again produced by the production trio and their Dungeon Family mentors Organized Noize, with CeeLo and T-Mo providing produciton assistance as well of the likes of Mr. DJ, DJ Muggs, Craig Love and Dave Whild. The album also featured fellow Dungeon family members and affliates in Withdoctor, Lil Will, Chiefton and Backbone. The album spawned two singles: "They Don't Dance No Mo" and "Black Ice" featuring OutKast. Despite the decreased attention and hoopla as compared to their debut, the album was fairly successful being certified gold and stands as one of hip-hop's strongest sophomore albums following a classic debut.Visit The Vault Classic Music Reviews Onlinewww.vaultclassicpod.comSupport The Vault Classic Music Review on Buy Me A Coffeehttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/vaultclassicpodBuild Your Own Amazing Podcast Website In Less Than 5 Minutes!https://www.podpage.com/?via=ivecre8Show NotesAlbumism: Goodie Mob's 'Still Standing' Turns 25 | Annivesary Retrospectivehttps://albumism.com/features/goodie-mob-still-standing-album-anniversarySupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-vault-classic-music-reviews-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Founder of Right Hand Music Group and Co-Founder of Keep Cool Records Courtney Stewart joins the Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio podcast to discuss representing Grammy-winning artists and popular R&B trends. Stewart joins host Carol Morgan on the Around Atlanta segment and shares the inspiration behind Right Hand Foundation. An Atlanta native, Stewart shared how proud he is to see “Hotlanta” grow through the years and expand into the thriving metro center it is today. With fond memories centered around the 1996 Olympics, Georgia Tech and Coca-Cola, Atlanta has grown into a unique city filled with diversity and economic growth in Stewart's eyes. “[Atlanta] has this flourishing sense of community going back to the Civil Rights Movement,” Stewart said. “The deep culture and roots that Atlanta has had made it such an incredible city. I'm proud to call Atlanta home.” Always a creative kid, Stewart attended North Atlanta High and participated in the performing arts program. Exposed to the early Atlanta music scene powered by Dallas Austin, Jermaine Dupri and Organized Noize, he was inspired by the early development of the Atlanta music community. This allowed Stewart to be a fly on the wall around groups such as OutKast, TLC and Goodie Mob, all under the banner of Organized Noize. Encouraged by the idea of having a platform to sign and develop artists that bring a left-of-center approach to the table, Stewart founded Right Hand Music Group in 2005 and currently represents Grammy-winning artist Khalid. Stewart shared that he has represented Khalid from day one, watching him directly connect with Gen Z through his powerful songs and relatable lyrics. “My experience being in the business for 15-plus years and his youthfulness and just God-given talent is a perfect combination to be able to balance one another,” Stewart said. On the Right Hand Music Group side, Stewart also represents London-born Sinead Harnett and Marco McKinnis, among others. Stewart and his team place great importance on discovering an artist early to put the necessary time and development behind their craft. In partnership with RCA Records, Keep Cool Records represents Normani, recent Grammy-winner Lucky Daye and many other flourishing artists. Taking the world by storm, TikTok is lighting a fire behind many popular R&B trends, acting as the epicenter of how artists and people connect, reconnect and stay in touch. What's hot from a trend standpoint is more than likely going to become popular on TikTok and follow a domino effect, influencing other social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube and Facebook. “The more popular genres – pop music, rap music, R&B music – a lot of that is really coming from TikTok because those are the popular genres that a lot of the youth are listening to,” Stewart said. Launched on Stewart's birthday in 2015, Right Hand Foundation began when he organically connected with Stephanie Ford as she was assisting motels and extended stay hotels that were dealing with increased crime and drug activity. Stewart volunteered with Ford for a few months and was deeply affected by the people and stories he came across. Inspired, Stewart founded Right Hand Foundation to provide resources to aid individuals trying to get back on their feet. The foundation offers free housing for single mothers with children for one year in turnkey single-family units. The first Right Hand Foundation property is in historic College Park near Woodward Academy, supplying a sense of community and opportunity for adaptability to residents. While there, all individuals must participate in the program, taking advantage of counseling that touches on mental health, literacy, financial independence and more. “We prepare them for independent sustainability,” Stewart said. Right Hand Foundation maintains relationships with apartment complexes and housing developments, utilizing its connections to place program participants in permanent housing and ...

So make sure you listen to part 1 where we discussed the album track by track. We hope you enjoyed our TLC “CrazySexyCool” journey!Album Info: CrazySexyCool is the second studio album by American girl group TLC. The album saw the group reunite with producers Dallas Austin, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and Jermaine Dupri as well as new collaborators Organized Noize and Chucky Thompson, and also featured contributions from Sean "Puffy" Combs who helped with the notable hip hop soul sound. For the next couple weeks on Diva Dailies, Angie (@poetrysoul3) and Steffi (@inn_mho) will be deep diving into girl group albums and eras. To kick things off, we're talking about “CrazySexyCool” (1994) by the biggest selling American girl group of all time: TLC. (Also, Angie's favorite girl group of all time). Because this album and era are so iconic, we will be breaking down our CrazySexyCool deep dive into two. In part 1, we review and discuss EVERY SINGLE TRACK (yes, including the interludes). We then end our conversation sharing our Top 3 favorite songs from the album, 1 song we'd cut, and the underrated gem. Again, this is just part 1 of the conversation! Tune in next week for part 2 when we talk about the CrazySexyCool era.Album Info: CrazySexyCool is the second studio album by American girl group TLC. It was released on November 15, 1994, by LaFace and Arista Records. CrazySexyCool featured hip hop beats, funk, deep grooves, propulsive rhythms and smooth production. The album's lyrical content was seen as a departure from the group's debut and was seen as a coming-of-age project which explored themes such as sexuality, romanticism, inexperience, and youthful optimism.*Email us for show notes: divadailiespod@gmail.com*Twitter & Instagram: @divadailiespod*YouTube: Diva Dailies PodcastSTEFFI'S SOCIAL MEDIA:*Twitter & Instagram: @inn_mho*YouTube: innmyhumbleopinionANGIE'S SOCIAL MEDIA:*Twitter: @poetrysoul3*YouTube: Sleepy Nerd ProductionsTIME STAMPS:- Housekeeping (01:13)- Upcoming Episodes: Girl Group Divas (03:08)- Oscar & Razzie Moment of the Week (05:40)- Opening Discussions: Our Listening Experience & First Impressions (22:10)- Intro-lude (31:30)- Creep (33:13)- Kick Your Game (37:50)- Diggin' On You (44:04)- Case of the Fake People (47:13)- CrazySexyCool-Interlude (51:25)- Red Light Special (52:15)- Waterfalls (56:43)- Intermission-lude (60:51)- Let's Do It Again (60:18)- If I Was Your Girlfriend (64:01)- Sexy-Interlude (69:09)- Take Our Time (70:25)- Can I Get A Witness-Interlude (73:33)- Switch (78:48)- Sumthin' Wicked This Way Comes (80:00)- Top 3 Songs, 1 Song to Cut, & Underrated Gem (82:53)

B. Cox looks back on Ludacris' sophomore album Word of Mouf as it turns 20. After a commercially successful debut the previous year, the Atlanta emcee burst onto the scene with an equally, if not more impressive follow up. Keeping up with his theme of being braggadocious, witty and comedic at times, he successfuly weaved sharp puchlines and hard hitting metaphors into hits for the clubs and streets equally as well. Working with a all-star cast of producers such as Bangladesh, Jazzie Pha, Timbaland, Swizz Beats and Organized Noize, he took a step up to prove to audiences and critics alike that the South had elite emcess and versatility just like their coastal counterparts. Selling almost four millions records, it's Ludacris' best-selling album to date.Follow The Vault: Classic Music Reviews Podcast https://linktr.ee/vaultcmrShow NotesDaddy's Hangouy: Ludacris' Word of Mouf Released 20 Years Ago Todayhttps://www.daddyshangout.com/2021/11/27/ludacris-word-of-mouf-released-20-years-ago-today/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=ludacris-word-of-mouf-released-20-years-ago-todayGrits & Gospel: Why Doesn't Ludacris' 'Word Of Mouf' Have 5 Mics??!!https://gritsandgospel.com/why-does-word-of-mouf-not-have-5-mics-b1af5d0ebb4bSoul In Stereo: Ranking The Best Ludacris Albumshttp://www.soulinstereo.com/2019/01/ranking-the-best-ludacris-albums.htmlSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-vault-classic-music-reviews-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Have you ever wondered how an unknown Atlanta duo broke through a landscape dominated by the East and West coasts to become, arguably, the greatest hip-hop group of all time? So did The Music Snobs. To answer that question, and many more, we invited singer Keisha Jackson—an eyewitness to the rise of music's favorite ATLiens—to sit-in with us and dive deep into the legacy of André Benjamin and Antwan Patton. Along the way, the Snobs discuss everything from the origins of the Dungeon Family to the dichotomy of tour buses. Join us as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of OutKast. Special Guest: Keisha Jackson.
This is our isolated Outkast tribute mix from Episode 40. Organized Noize helped usher in the “dirty south” movement and Outkast took hip-hop to a whole new level. There are special groups like ATCQ, De La, Wu, N.W.A., Beasties, EPMD, P.E., Run-D.M.C., The Roots, Mobb Deep, Geto Boys and Gang Starr to name a few, but Outkast is right there with the best of them. They are without a doubt, one of the most important groups of all-time, in all of music.
Episode 40 is the first installment of our Southern Tribute. This has been in the making for awhile now, but like our West Coast Classics, tackling an entire coast is not easy. On part 1, we set the tone with some favorites before we take a ride down to Houston to celebrate the Geto Boys. They are arguably, the most influential Southern rap group of all-time. After posting up in H-Town, we head north to East Point, home of Outkast. Andre and Big Boi didn't put the south on the map, but they did put everyone on notice. When the east and the left coast were dominating hip-hop, the south was all but forgotten. Then, a group named Organized Noize became responsible for ushering in the Dirty South movement and the rest is history. There is a lot to cover and we're just getting started. On upcoming episodes we'll be covering Miami bass and labels like Rap-A-Lot, No Limit, Wreckshop, Swishahouse, Cash Money, Suave House, Slip-n-Slide and Hypnotized Minds to name a few. For now, sit back, relax and enjoy the long ride!
