Jay Anthony is an R&B/Pop singer with a large Gospel influence throughout all his music. Whether it be the spiritual angle of his subject matter, the way he sings, or the way the music is arranged, he keeps God first in all things. His latest single, “Worth Living” from his EP Music & Me was written from a very vulnerable place and offers encouragement and motivation to anyone going through something. Jay explained that he actually began writing the song in 2021 and after going through the loss of his Grandmother, depression and therapy, was able to complete the song this year. He shared that losing her was what caused the depression which led to him temporarily losing his love of music. Since he grew up with multiple musically inclined family members and lives a family centric life, losing her was like losing a piece of the love that was in his heart. But, by completing this song he found the motivation to compose the rest of the EP.“When I finished writing this song, I cried. When I heard the finished version, I cried. When my Mother - who didn't know about all of my crying - heard it for the first time, she cried. I knew if it had that effect on us, I had no choice but to share it with the world. The song gave me hope to continue. I knew I had to finish this project and I knew He [God] didn't give me these words just for me to keep them to myself.”Jay purposely released this song during this time of year because of how depression affects so many people around the holidays. He wants people to know that it's okay to not be okay and to get the therapy they need and keep living. All the music Jay writes is made with intentionality like this. For him, every song he writes is like a child which means they all need love and nurturing from him. And because of that love within them, he believes the music will resonate with people today and with people 20-40 years from now. He knows the music will be timeless because the lyrics within them and how they reached him are timeless. “It's spiritual for me. The Most High gives me these lyrics and I'm just a vessel for Him.”The spiritual perspective of the music creation comes directly from Jay's background in the church. And with him, he's found that all music comes from gospel. Whether it's chords or melodies - all of it goes back to gospel. By learning this, he was able to apply techniques from that world to a plethora of other aspects of music. His Grandmother reinforced this perspective by teaching him that the key to it all is singing from the heart. “When you sing from the heart, you're going to touch people.” Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/creator-to-creators-with-meosha-bean--4460322/support.

It's late July, and much of the country is in the midst of a heat wave, but Aaron and Bill are back talking ducks with Dr. Mike Brasher from Ducks Unlimited. Waterfowl are both a vocation and advocation for Mike as he's spent his career studying and his free time hunting them. For the last two years, COVID protocols in Canada have prevented the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service from conducting the Waterfowl Breeding Population and Habitat Survey (known to duck hunters as the BPOP and May Pond Count). This survey is used to set future seasons. The 2022 flights have wrapped up, and Mike is here to help us understand what the initial reports could mean to duck hunters all over the country. And for the first time in several years, there's some positive news! Links: https://www.ducks.org/media/du-podcast https://fws.gov/library/collections/2022-waterfowl-breeding-population-and-habitat-surveys-field-reports And here's a photo page from the folks who actually count the ducks: https://www.flickr.com/photos/pilotbiologist/albums/with/72157706996280821 Show notes: 3:40 – Bill introduces Mike and provides a little insight into his background and what we are going to cover in the show regarding ducks and how ducks are counted. 5:25 – Mike introduces himself with a little more detail. 7:19 – Mike, Bill and Aaron share what they have been doing outside recently. 13:40 – Jumping right into B-POP (Breeding Population Survey) but first, let's clarify that we are not talking about K-POP. 14:21 – What is B-POP and why should duck hunters understand it? 19:13 – Laying out the mechanics of how big the count is, where do they fly and how are we doing with the trajectory of current population counts. 24:27 – Discussing the word “census” and why this count isn't a census. 28:23 – What are the results?! 35:05 – Why have biologists been concerned, drought in the western U.S. and how are the numbers doing down south? 41:27 – Short break for a message from our partner podcast, Artemis Sportswomen! Be sure to follow NWF Outdoors on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube for even more great content. 42:20 -- Because the count hasn't happened for a few years, what was the approach this year? 46:39 -- Discussing the scientific approach to climate issues as they relate to duck populations, trajectory, warming trends and droughts. 53:33 -- Discussing the significance of the North American Wetlands Conservation Act and recently introduced North American Grasslands Act. How does this legislation relate to natural infrastructure, habitat restoration and resilience. 1:00:23 -- With fresh water and fresh habitat, what does that mean for the productivity of waterfowl? Also, a few reflections on the current count numbers and what that might mean for the upcoming duck hunting season. 1:07:33 – Mike shares some closing statements. 1:10:24 – Ducks Unlimited U.S. and Ducks Unlimited Canada are teaming up soon to do a livestream! 1:12:53 – Bill shares some closing statements. 1:13:18 – Please speak up on behalf of shutting down the Return Act, the swift passage of the Recovering America's Wildlife Act and the North American Grasslands Act. Get engaged, stay engaged and look for folks like Mike for guidance.

Founder of Right Hand Music Group and Co-Founder of Keep Cool Records Courtney Stewart joins the Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio podcast to discuss representing Grammy-winning artists and popular R&B trends. Stewart joins host Carol Morgan on the Around Atlanta segment and shares the inspiration behind Right Hand Foundation. An Atlanta native, Stewart shared how proud he is to see “Hotlanta” grow through the years and expand into the thriving metro center it is today. With fond memories centered around the 1996 Olympics, Georgia Tech and Coca-Cola, Atlanta has grown into a unique city filled with diversity and economic growth in Stewart's eyes. “[Atlanta] has this flourishing sense of community going back to the Civil Rights Movement,” Stewart said. “The deep culture and roots that Atlanta has had made it such an incredible city. I'm proud to call Atlanta home.” Always a creative kid, Stewart attended North Atlanta High and participated in the performing arts program. Exposed to the early Atlanta music scene powered by Dallas Austin, Jermaine Dupri and Organized Noize, he was inspired by the early development of the Atlanta music community. This allowed Stewart to be a fly on the wall around groups such as OutKast, TLC and Goodie Mob, all under the banner of Organized Noize. Encouraged by the idea of having a platform to sign and develop artists that bring a left-of-center approach to the table, Stewart founded Right Hand Music Group in 2005 and currently represents Grammy-winning artist Khalid. Stewart shared that he has represented Khalid from day one, watching him directly connect with Gen Z through his powerful songs and relatable lyrics.  “My experience being in the business for 15-plus years and his youthfulness and just God-given talent is a perfect combination to be able to balance one another,” Stewart said. On the Right Hand Music Group side, Stewart also represents London-born Sinead Harnett and Marco McKinnis, among others. Stewart and his team place great importance on discovering an artist early to put the necessary time and development behind their craft. In partnership with RCA Records, Keep Cool Records represents Normani, recent Grammy-winner Lucky Daye and many other flourishing artists. Taking the world by storm, TikTok is lighting a fire behind many popular R&B trends, acting as the epicenter of how artists and people connect, reconnect and stay in touch. What's hot from a trend standpoint is more than likely going to become popular on TikTok and follow a domino effect, influencing other social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube and Facebook.  “The more popular genres – pop music, rap music, R&B music – a lot of that is really coming from TikTok because those are the popular genres that a lot of the youth are listening to,” Stewart said. Launched on Stewart's birthday in 2015, Right Hand Foundation began when he organically connected with Stephanie Ford as she was assisting motels and extended stay hotels that were dealing with increased crime and drug activity. Stewart volunteered with Ford for a few months and was deeply affected by the people and stories he came across. Inspired, Stewart founded Right Hand Foundation to provide resources to aid individuals trying to get back on their feet. The foundation offers free housing for single mothers with children for one year in turnkey single-family units. The first Right Hand Foundation property is in historic College Park near Woodward Academy, supplying a sense of community and opportunity for adaptability to residents. While there, all individuals must participate in the program, taking advantage of counseling that touches on mental health, literacy, financial independence and more.  “We prepare them for independent sustainability,” Stewart said. Right Hand Foundation maintains relationships with apartment complexes and housing developments, utilizing its connections to place program participants in permanent housing and ...

The month of May is AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) Heritage Month! In celebration of AAPI heritage month, I will be featuring powerful Asian voices in our community throughout this month! First up is ALICE, a Korean American R&B/Pop singer breaking stereotypes in the American music industry. Her goal is to help elevate the portrayal and views of Asians in America by being a powerful and vocal influence in the media. She's been interviewed with Teen Vogue, sang guide vocals for a YG entertainment artist, and won the CCM songwriting competition in South Korea. I first met ALICE in Boston when she was attending Berklee College of Music and she's one of the most confident people I know, but in this episode, she opens up about feeling limited and unwanted in the American music industry for being Asian, being bullied and dealing with racism growing up, and through it all, learning to find confidence and self-worth in who she is, and not on what other people say and think about her. This is a refreshing, powerful episode that would give a lot of inspiration for those with big dreams who want to break stereotypes!
