*Warning - Pod gets crackly around the 57 minute mark. We don't know why! We were drinking! Sorry!* What's good Ballers; a soggy nil-nil at Citi Field is our backdrop for this week's Blue Balls, but before the bummer recap we got u with the 3-0 victory over a crafty but ultimately crackable San Jose and some highlight reel moments for Gloster and Gabriel, not to mention the consistently overperforming Keaton Parks and a little love for pod favorite Santi Rodriguez. And then: why couldn't we do it again, and what does it say about the team without Taty? Plus, some eurochat! We holla at Haaland as the transfer rumors heat up to a near certainty. And of course, a little precap before we face down the mighty Rochester Rhinos in round 3 of the Open Cup. Adjust your strap and empty that fanny pack - you've got Blue Balls.

The Rochester Rhinos became the only lower division club to win the U.S. Open Cup when they lifted the trophy in 1999. A USL club hasn't reach the U.S. Open Cup final since 2008 when Charleston Battery lost to D.C. United. So what are the odds a USL clubs makes a deep run in 2022? We ask former Charleston Battery club president, Andrew Bell, about the keys to success in a tournament that dates back to 1914. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Hey gang, it's been awhile, but we needed a little break to replenish our positive disruption fuel! A few weeks of international soccer (Euros/Gold Cup), lots of Menace Soccer (USL 2 Champs, what?!) and some time on the home front was exactly what the doctor ordered. So we're back, re-energized, and ready to take on the rest of 2021. And what better way to get back into the swing of things than to have a great conversation with an Iowa Soccer Legend?! This week we welcome Iowa native and professional soccer player, Lance Rozeboom, to the studio. Currently of Miami FC, which plays in the USL Championship, Lance was originally drafted by D.C. United in 2012 after playing locally for the infamous CRSA '89 squad, the Des Moines Menace and the University of New Mexico Lobos. Since then, his professional career has taken him all over the United States and Canada, playing for the Rochester Rhinos, Austin Aztex, Ottawa Fury and Tampa Bay Rowdies prior to his time with Miami FC. We were fortunate enough to find out that Lance was back in town to spend some time with family. Naturally, we invited him on the podcast and he graciously accepted. We talk about all the soccer things plus how he fell in love with the game, who is on his all-Iowa five-a-side squad and his dreams of staying fit long enough to play for the USL Pro Iowa squad. --- To learn more about Kick It Forward and our passion for making soccer more accessible, check out our

Guppy recorded 161 appearances for the Foxes as a left winger. Guppy also appeared for Newcastle United, Port Vale, Celtic Leeds United, Stoke City, Wycombe Wanderers, D.C. United, Stevenage F.C. and the Rochester Rhinos. At the conclusion of his playing career, Guppy joined Gary Smith’s coaching staff at Colorado Rapids from 2009 to 2012. In their time together, Guppy and Smith went on to win the 2010 MLS Cup in a playoff run that saw the club give up one goal or less in every match. After his time in Colorado, Guppy returned overseas and joined the coaching staff of Sunderland A.F.C. in the Premier League. In Guppy’s most recent coaching stop, he spent the last five years working on the National Team staff of the Republic of Ireland along with Martin O’Neill before joining him at Nottingham Forest in 2019. An incredible story that goes from being a construction worker to becoming a professional footballer!! Enjoy Everyone!!

Was a blessing having Nico Olsak on the podcast. Nico was born in Argentina, but ended up moving to the US at a young age to “chase the American Dream!” He played 4 years of college soccer at Belmont University (a small Division 1 school in Tennessee). He always had the dream of playing professional soccer, so he took his chances at an open combine. He had a good chance at Rochester Rhinos that fell through. This was one of the first obstacles you ran into during his career, and he used it to fuel him. At 22, he made a jump to Israel through a family friend connection, and the rest was history! He started in the third tier, and within two years, he was playing in the first tier for Maccabi Netanya. He just reached a great milestone of 100 appearances for the team, and he has been blessed to wear the captains' band. You will definitely definitely enjoy this one. Definitely many golden nuggets from this one.
Seth, Thomas and Pablo break down DCU's playoff chances, talk about the USMNT's [non-existent] head coach search and chat general MLS. Then Thomas Floyd attempts to connect William Henry Harrison to the Rochester Rhinos.

This week: - We break down the first ever win over the Rochester Rhinos in NYRBII history - We talk to Stefano Bonomo, our first repeat guest, about getting back out on the field and excelling - We preview the match against Charleston Battery
Sometimes we can be big ol’ windbags (OK, most of the time), but we really had a lot to discuss this week despite the fact that neither Orlando City nor the Orlando Pride were in action this past weekend. We talked about Orlando City B’s 1-1 draw with the Rochester Rhinos, the USMNT’s World Cup qualifying efforts, the USWNT’s European trip, Alex Morgan’s return, the U.S. Open Cup, the upcoming match vs. Montreal Impact, and a whole lot more. Joining us this week is former Orlando City and current Miami FC center back Brad Rusin, who talks about returning to the City Beautiful for a competitive match against an MLS side he helped build in its early years in the USL. Brad also talked about his journey since leaving Orlando, what the Open Cup means, how he approaches the game, and how he once poached a goal from Tyler Turner. We also answered your questions from Twitter (use #AskTMLPC and hit us up with a tweet) and looked ahead with key match-ups and predictions for Orlando City’s upcoming games. Here’s how it all went down: 0:12- With Orlando City and the Pride off this weekend, we looked back at OCB’s draw against Rochester, including the Orlando debut of Josh Saunders. Plus, USMNT World Cup qualifying and that dazzling Michael Bradley chip! 24:34- Brad Rusin jumps on and acknowledges that Orlando fans probably weren’t thrilled with his stint at Tampa Bay, but he owned up to it and had a lot to say about his new team, Miami FC. 39:14- The USWNT, Alex Morgan, Marta, the U.S. U-23 women (and Dani Weatherholt), plus U.S. Open Cup pontificating, key match-ups and predictions for the Montreal Impact match, our mailbag, and more! The guys return for the season five premiere - and it's more mediocre than ever! They chat MLS, DCU, USMNT & of course - Six Degrees of Rochester Rhinos.™
It was yet another busy day for the New York Red Bulls organization. The MLS side got some wonderful help from former member Lloyd Sam and the worst team ever, D.C. United, who beat out New York City FC, handing first in the East to the Red Bulls. Of course, that alone wouldn’t be enough. The Red Bulls took care of their own business (barely) when they took Columbus Crew SC from the playoff picture with a nail biting 3-2 win. The USL side faced off against Louisville City FC in the Eastern Conference Final of the USL Playoffs. In the previous round of the playoffs, the Rochester Rhinos took the Red Bulls to Extra Time and Penalty Kicks. Surely the Baby Bulls could avoid it for a second straight time right? Well, no, but at least they had Ryan Meara to stop two penalty kicks to secure their birth in the USL Cup Finals. Musical Credits: Opening: Happy Rock - http://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music Breaks & Closing: True Believers by Bouncing Souls
So the New York Red Bulls had a match against the Philadelphia Union. They came back from a goal deficit, gave up a one goal lead, then won the game. It was an exciting affair for all involved, well, unless you are a Union fan but whatever, you have to live in Philadelphia, so a loss is still a win. Meanwhile, New York Red Bulls II continued their fantastic form in USL, dispatching Orlando City B in the first round of the playoffs by a 4-0 scoreline. Next up is the defending USL Champions, the Rochester Rhinos. Not to be out shined by the baby bulls, Sacha Kljestan joins the United States Men’s Team for two international friendlies. The first against Cuba, the second against New Zealand. Finally, the boys tackle the age old talking point among Red Bull fans, why is the attendance at Red Bull Arena not better? Musical Credits: Opening: Happy Rock - http://www.bensound.com/royalty-free-music Breaks & Closing: True Believers by Bouncing Souls
The New York Red Bulls are done with their Copa America/Summer break, and boy, did they start off the post-break stretch right. It may have only been a 1-0 win off of a penalty kick against the Rochester Rhinos, but a win is a win is a win. The Red Bulls have the Seattle Sounders coming up on Father's Day as they return to MLS action. Will they continue their winning streak?
