Rob, Grace and James recap their weekends, and then get into a big show talking about climate, justice and being your true self.First, the team heard from Dr. Karl Braganza on how warmer and drier conditions will be more likely over spring and summer for parts of Australia, under the influence of these two climate drivers. Bureau of Meteorology Climate Manager Dr Karl Braganza outlined how both El Niño and a positive Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD) tend to draw rain away from Australia. The Bureau made the El Niño declaration after three of the four El Niño criteria were met, including a sustained response in the atmospheric circulation above the tropical Pacific.Next, James was joined by David Sweeney, a prominent Australian anti-nuclear campaigner, working for the Australian Conservation Foundation as their nuclear policy analyst. David debunked the argument for nuclear energy in Australia that has been dominating the media recently. Third, Roger Jones, a Professorial Research Fellow at the Institute for Sustainable Industries & Liveable Cities at Victoria University, came on to talk to James and Rob about the risks of bushfire and heatwaves projected for this coming summer, and how people in urban and rural areas can prepare for them. The team then took a moment to talk about Rupert Murdoch stepping down as chairperson of NewsCorp, and what that means for the media landscape worldwide moving forward. Lastly, Jaimi Sultana, co-founder of the I Am Me Foundation and partner of multi-instrumentalist Tash Sultana, talked to Rob and Grace about their burgeoning work to help and support gender diverse folks be their true selves.  Songs played: Why - Kutcha Edwards I've Lied - Archie Roach When My Ship Comes In - Quality Used Cars

Who Will Win Offensive And Defensive Rookies Of The Year In 2024? Analyzing The NFL Draft

Bolt Bros Podcast

The conversation is about who may win the offensive and defensive rookie of the year awards in the upcoming draft. It is generally accepted that the player who will win will be from the first round of the draft. Some examples of previous winners are Justin Herbert, Joey Bosa and Gardner Minshew. It is suggested that a mock draft should be looked at to help find the right player for the right team. Factors such as being in a good system and having the right team to make the player flourish are key for success. In this conversation, the speaker is discussing a mock draft and looking at players who could potentially win Offensive Rookie of the Year. The speaker looks at the mock draft of Rhett Lewis and notes that it is difficult to accurately predict which players will be drafted. The speaker names some potential first-round picks, such as Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson, Dalton Kincaid, and Bajan Robinson. The speaker then goes on to discuss the NFC South division and how it could be wide open this season with Tom Brady gone. They mention that the Panthers have made some moves to get the number one pick, and they have a solid defense. Ultimately, the speaker believes that the Panthers could be a strong contender for the division and the players they draft could be contenders for Offensive Rookie of the Year. The speakers discussed the nominees for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. They discussed Christian McCaffrey's departure from the team and the new head coach, Frank Wright, who is considered to have a good offensive mind. They discussed the teams with potential for the award, such as the Colts with their new quarterback Bryce Young and the Texans with their quarterback CJ Strout. They also discussed the Bears' offensive line and the Philadelphia Eagles' running back situation with Bijan Robinson. Overall, they concluded that it will be difficult to decide on an offensive rookie of the year as the teams are still in the process of building up their offense. The conversation focuses on potential picks that could win Offensive Rookie of the Year. Miles Sanders, Jaylen Hertz, Leviis Jones, Paris Johnson, Roger Jones, Darnell White, Dalton Kincaid, Ahman Rodd, Say Brown, and Jameson Williams are all discussed. It is suggested that adding a player like Bijan Robinson could be massive for the team, and it is proposed that Dalton Kincaid could be the first tight end to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. What to do with a Michelin-starred restaurant that was due to close down shortly after coronavirus struck? If you’re Roger Jones, you re-purpose it to deliver monkfish and lobster dhal or wild mushroom and truffle risotto free of charge to local residents in need. That, and deliver some proper wines to an elderly mum who lives in rural Wales. To honour our guest, we throw ourselves into the kitchen, rustling up a very seasonal wild garlic and asparagus risotto. Which is really an excuse to find some delicious spring-like wines from the cellar – cue Sauvignon Blanc in abundance, plus a cheeky English Bacchus. And Peter has a confession for Susie...

In this episode we talk with weekend warrior Roger Jones all about kayak fishing and boat fishing. Roger has a flats skiff but says he is way more effective from his kayak and out fishes himself on a boat 90% of the time. In this episode we really dive into how important it can be to slow down and really pick apart an area. This can be hard to do on a boat but when you are forced to slow down and really pick an area apart with a kayak you can learn much more about the spot. Even if you have a boat there is a huge amount of information you can learn from kayak anglers. Hope you enjoy this episode of The Eastern Current Saltwater Fishing Show! Roger is the 4th generation of his family to farm at South Walsham and the conversation soon turns to Andrew’s favourite subject of coastal erosion, the response to which Roger describes as “fiddling while Rome burns”. Roger farms his 120 acres of arable land, as well as 200 acres of contract farming and ‘dodges about’ with other work. This is feasible by keeping overheads low and doing as much of the work as possible himself. The smaller farmer may be more about the lifestyle and enjoying the process but are their days numbered? Our beer this week is another one sent in by a listener - a trend we’re growing to love. It’s Wellington Bomber Porter 5% by Glebe Farm Foods and gets a resounding thumbs up.If you would like to sponsor the Dewing Grain Podcast please email: hello@tinshedproductions.co.ukThe Dewing Grain Podcast is produced by www.eastcoastdesignstudio.co.uk in conjunction with www.tinshedproductions.co.ukDewing Grain - independent grain trader for Norfolk and Suffolk01263 731550www.dewinggrain.co.uk See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

IoT is enabling the creation of "smart cities" using technology and data to make our communities better for working and living. But how is this playing out globally? And what might a smart city look like in New Zealand? In this episode of the "Internet of Awesome Things", we look at the initial impact of IoT on public policy and urban planning.First up, Russell Brown talks smart communities with Hamilton City Council Smart Cities Adviser Jannat Maqbool. She shares some of the initiatives she's been involved with and leading in Waikato, things like interactive smart spaces, smart collectives, and IoT Meetups. Jannat says it’s important to demystify IoT and let people play with things like facial recognition tech. Then, Mark Thomas from Singapore-based consultancy ServiceWorks tells how Auckland missed a trick a few years ago when modernising 45,000 light poles without IoT sensors. These could've been used to monitor rainfall, for example. These assets are big opportunities – so too is the data they collect. Mark believes the "big data" collected through public IoT should be available to anyone who wants to use it to develop things for the public good. Finally, someone who's well aware of the possibilities of IoT, and is busy applying many of them to our largest city, is Auckland Transport CIO, Roger Jones. He explains how AT is trialing "smart streets", with features such as solar-powered seats that can recharge mobile devices and smart traffic lights that link up with devices to help visually impaired people. Roger cites the connection between traffic systems and vehicles; if you're a 30-tonne truck coming towards a traffic light, it’s good to know whether you need to brake. Roger says that smart cities are all about people. This episode about smart cities is the final episode in the series. In many ways, it's also the most important, because what plays out in this public IoT space is going to touch the lives of all of us, very soon.

Be as transparent a a company as you can be. Drivers appreciate that we're not perfect but are always looking to get better.” - Roger Jones What you’ll learn about in this episode: Why so many trucking companies promote themselves as family environments or family oriented, when in fact they are not (and the impact actually being a family environment has) Why one of the biggest problems for retaining new drivers early on in the process is pay checks How having a plan to change and/or update equipment on a regular basis is less about losing profits as it is about retainment, safety, and -- actually -- increasing profits through happier, safer truck drivers. Why having best practices for recruiters is essential to ensure quality recruitment experiences How to utilize multiple sources and resources to recruit new, quality truck drivers Building relationships through communication between management and truck drivers The three T's that are the pillars that can help propel a company forward with its driver retainment efforts: Trust. Transparency. True to your word.
