Sara Lynne George is an accomplished freelance writer and published author renowned for her insightful books on trauma and toxic relationships, notably "Don't You Dare Text Him Back: Toxic Relationship Recovery," "I've Never Been to France, She/Her," and "I Ma OHW: The Bipolar Poet." Her writings have deeply resonated with many, especially in categories dealing with trauma and relationships. Sarah's unique perspective is drawn from extensive personal experiences, including overcoming trauma bonding and confronting the challenges of bipolar disorder. Episode Summary:Host Myrna Young engages with Sara Lynne George in a deep-dive discussion on the elusive concept of trauma bonding. Sara, who has herself overcome significant personal traumas, shares her experiences about addiction, navigating the challenging waters of high-end escorting, and surviving toxic relationships. Together, they dissect the signs of trauma bonding, distinguish it from genuine love, and explore the psychological underpinnings that make such bonds so hard to break.Sara elaborates on how past traumas, like sexual abuse, can shape adult relationships, leading many into cycles of toxic, addictive love. Sara provides a strategic guide to breaking free from such unhealthy attachments. This episode delves into her journey of addressing bipolar disorder, coping mechanisms gone awry, and reclaiming self-identity. Key Takeaways:Trauma bonding is an addictive attachment where individuals, despite abuse, feel reliant on their partner for emotional understoodness.Distinguishing love from codependency is crucial; needing someone differs vastly from desiring someone in a healthy relationship.Childhood trauma, especially sexual abuse, can persistently influence adult life, manifesting in self-deprecating choices and toxic relationship dynamics.Overcoming trauma bonds involves cutting off contact and redefining self-worth outside of the toxic relationship context.Mental health support and therapy can play pivotal roles in addressing underlying issues like bipolar disorder, leading to more stable, fulfilling lives.NordVPNGet your Exclusive NordVPN deal here → go to https://nordvpn.com/transform Podcast: Zuzu: All Grown Up To advertise on our podcast, visit https://advertising.libsyn.com/TransformyourMindor email kriti@youngandprofiting.com See this video on The Transform Your Mind YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/@MyhelpsUs/videosTo see a transcripts of this audio as well as links to all the advertisers on the show page https://myhelps.us/Follow Transform Your Mind on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/myrnamyoung/Follow Transform Your mind on Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063738390977Please leave a rating and review on iTunes https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/transform-your-mind/id1144973094 https://podcast.feedspot.com/personal_development_podcasts/

NOTE: Since the date of recording this episode, our guest for this week has embarked on her gender transition. While you'll hear her referred to by her previous name (often called a ‘deadname') in the episode, we've updated the show notes to reflect this. Her name is Hana Leyland and she uses She/Her pronouns. What happens when you face your darkest fears and emerge stronger on the other side? We're thrilled to welcome the extraordinarily resilient Hana Leland to the show, who's about to unfold an absorbing narrative of personal transformation, navigating a queer identity, and dealing with a mother's mental health battle. Hana's life-changing journey saw her grappling with addiction and trauma, yet she found an unexpected superpower in the midst of these darkest hours. On today's episode, Duane and Hana unravel the complex layers of her identity, and how she navigated through her queer identity in an ever-evolving world. The discussion takes a deep dive into the concept of Peter Pan Syndrome and its link with addiction, a rampant issue within the queer community. Hana's story is a testament to the power of self-exploration guided by therapy and internal family systems. She shines a light on the importance of mentors within the LGBTQ+ community and how they play a pivotal role in shaping identity. Moving forward, we explore the transformative journey toward authenticity. Hana highlights the role of sobriety in illuminating her own identity, and how harnessing the power of storytelling has been instrumental in reclaiming her authenticity. Not shying away from vulnerability, she emphasizes the need for support and mentorship on one's journey to self-discovery. Hana's narrative is an inspiring reminder that embracing our unique values and identities can lead to profound transformation and that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but strength. Tune in and let this heartfelt story inspire your own journey toward self-actualization. In this episode, you will hear: Overcoming addiction and finding grace Navigating LGBTQ+ identity and trauma Exploring identity and overcoming dark parts Asking for help and authenticity Follow and Review: We'd love for you to follow us if you haven't yet. Have you ever felt like you heard God tell you to do something? What has that experience been like? Many people have weird experiences where they think they've encountered God, but don't know how to make sense of it. Christians believe God speaks through the Bible, and that God's words are powerful - life changing even! There is an incredible story in The Old Testament about a woman named Huldah who was a prophet and who knew the Scriptures at a time when the rest of the men and leaders in her culture did not. God uses Huldah in a powerful way to convict and confront God's people who had turned to sin. The lesson for you in this story is - do you know the word of God?Support what Sandals Church is doing at https://donate.sc or use the Sandals Church App https://sandalschurch.com/app/Like, subscribe, and leave us a comment. How To Hear The Voice of God (Message and Worship) | Sandals ChurchDo you have questions, need prayer or want to get connected? Gender roles are controversial in culture and in the church. The Bible paints a powerful picture of women leadership and how men can respect and follow that leadership. More than recognizing a woman's ability to lead, the Bible shows that God does big things when men honor the voices of women and recognize God's calling in their life. What would happen in this cultural moment if in the church men were sensitive to the call of God on women's lives? The church can be a completely unique space in culture if we catch this vision.Like, subscribe, and leave us a comment.Support what Sandals Church is doing at https://donate.sc or use the Sandals Church App https://sandalschurch.com/app/Do you have questions, need prayer or want to get connected? When most people think of religion, they think of a misogynistic, oppressive system that does not give women rights. What does the Bible say about what it means to be a woman? The Bible teaches that God made humans male and female and that gender is sacred - but how the church has historically understood the roles of men and women and how they work together has varied. She/Her is a teaching series on what the Bible has to say about God's design for femininity, who some of the key female figures are in the story of the Bible, and what those stories teach us about the gift of women today.Have We Gotten Women's Roles Wrong? Episode SummaryIn the second-part of our conversation about the Divine Feminine, we look at the ramifications of believing God is a guy. Institutional Christianity has given us God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, a triune male God with “He/Him” pronouns. And this male dominated theology has created a male dominator culture that manifests itself politically, socially, sexually, religiously, and economically in pragmatism, patriotism, persecution, capitalism, greed, aggression, egoism, hierarchy, oppression, exclusion, bigotry, ignorance, and emotionally stunted men. All of which has the planet on the brink of destruction. But what if we're wrong? What if God isn't a guy after all? And how would seeing God in female form change the way we understand ourselves and the world around us?Rediscovering the Divine female attributes of God is one of the first steps toward our collective liberation from the dominant power structures that rule our lives. In this episode, we uncover all the ways God is referenced in female language throughout Scripture and church history. We also look at Jesus' primordial identity as Holy Wisdom, or the Sophia of God, making the historical Jesus the personification of the Divine Feminine. Quotables“If God is male, the male is God.”“Domination of women has provided a key link, both socially and symbolically, to the domination of earth.”“The symbolic evidence of women's invisibility in the human race is most clear perhaps in her suppression, her camouflage, her negation even in language. Women are subsumed, excised, erased by male pronouns, by male terminology, by male prayers, even by exclusively male images of God.”“There has always been a vocal minority recognizing the many pronouns for God, including “He/Him,” “She/Her,” “They/Them.”“All Language about God is metaphorical, but those metaphors matter.”“One of the most ancient metaphorical understandings and expressions of Divinity is God as womb of the world.”“How can women be made in the image of God if God cannot be imagined in female form?”“What does God do all day long? God gives birth. From all eternity God lies on a maternity bed giving birth.”“Sophia is the first of God's works, God's female companion in the creation of the cosmos.”“Sophia became flesh and dwelt among us.”“Just as God is our Father, so God is also our Mother.”Please follow us on social media (use the buttons below) and help us get the word out! The fight over access to gender-affirming medical care for trans youths — like the fight over abortion rights and other issues at the intersection of health, politics, gender, culture and race — is impacting where Americans live, work and raise families. And it's grown particularly acute over the past year, as conservative governors and legislators have restricted access to medical care for gender dysphoria, a condition that stems from one's lived experience of gender being different from the sex assigned at birth. The rhetoric is leading to violence and hate, and it must be overcome through education and understanding if we are ever to regain civility in our country. This is a special bonus episode about authentic truth, love, and compassion demonstrated with a family's journey in gender-affirming care. Eric interviews Melissa McLaren and her transgender daughter Conner just a few days after the horrific mass shooting at a nightclub in Colorado that targeted LGBTQ individuals. Conner is a 17-year-old transgender woman, and her mother Melissa has been supportive of her gender transition since Conner expressed her preference to be a girl as a toddler. Through the support of loving parents and a health system that provided gender-affirming care, Conner was able to find her truest self and live a life of authenticity. (Isn't this what value-based care is all about?) 21:00 Patient-centered gender-affirming care is not about corralling patients into choices. It is about collaboration between the family and the medical team. 22:00 “We feel so well protected, understand the goals and how to safely get there, and what the offramps are.” 23:00 Approximately 300,000 teenagers identify as transgender, which adds up to 1-2 percent of the nation's population within that age. 23:30 Referencing the prior Race to Value podcast, “The Truth and Beauty of Gender-Affirming Care, with Dallas Ducar” 24:00 Conservative political opposition to gender-affirming care, especially for the pediatric population, with some states saying this constitutes child abuse. 24:30 There have been hundreds of anti-trans laws res...

HUMAN DESIGN & OTHER SPIRITUAL WISDOM FOR NAVIGATING THE VASTNESS OF LIFE - Liberate The Podcast! Episode 215 with host Cristina Dam & guest Aubrey Grawe, She/Her, Yoga Teacher & Breathwork Facilitator, Joy Enthusiast, Lover of Life ABOUT AUBREY GRAWE Aubrey is also a Certified Breathwork Facilitator, obtaining her certificate in 2020. After years of attempting to meditate, (and ultimately just slow down!) she was finally introduced to breathwork by her sister. Breathwork was her gateway “drug” into the spiritual world and the key to calming her anxieties and quieting her busy mind. Through the breath alone, she has been able to love and understand herself on a much deeper level, find a greater sense of compassion and perspective, and heal unprocessed trauma. When Aubrey isn't teaching yoga or breathwork, she is most likely wandering through the mountains, reading on the beach, rollerblading to a bomb podcast, or devouring anything and everything spiritual. In her classes, you can expect to feel seen, heard, and loved- just as you are! DO YOGA & BREATHWORK WITH AUBREY! Warning: Explicit Conversations About Politics, Culture, & Sexuality We're popping our political corks on the Love Train as the 2022 midterm tallies flow in, our election erections wet with waves of blue, love, laughter, liquor, socialist hope, sexual fantasies and erotic compassion for our so-called “enemies.” Yes indeed, we've got Voter Boners! Being a She/Her, I have a Voter Ladyboner (a Lady Voter-Boner?). As a sexologist, I'm mindful of the twisted effects of humiliation—even in metaphor—but I must say, the MAGAts got cuckolded—and not in the fun, consensual way. So we celebrate the Dems winning the Senate (yes, they're also corrupted by pro-war corporate oligarch donors, but the fascist thugs of Coup Anon are worse), Trumpty Dumpty falls off his wall (again), Gangster Sheriff Villaneuva loses his badge & much more (though watch out for billionaire Elona Musky's buddy Peter Thiel's megalomaniacal “investments” in politics). Joining our Blue Wave Block Party with a splash is “Most Bonobo Couple,” DaLove & Belive, naked and singing, plus a vivacious Russian/Ukrainian model named Julia—her traumatic tales reminding me of one thing none of the candidates much discussed: the War in Ukraine! Speaking of war, NOW is the time to make peace; it's The Bonobo Way. Make Kink Not War! We also talk with Chase, a self-described “Christian” calling in from the bloodred swamps of Mississippi, who voted straight scarlet and goes to Church… but still wants to party with us. After bobby watched 'everything everywhere all at once' he had a total cry meltdown the following week. We talk about why and how this effects the show. Jim is having friend issues and needs to figure out what to do when two friends are fighting and approach him with the same issue. We read about the circumcision covenant between god and abraham and of course we are horrified. Bobby also goes on a complete and utter tirade on demi lovato and how she needs to be a better representative of the LGBT community. She is changing her pronouns back to She Her and well, you will have to listen. to find out. We watch and react to " Betty Boop Poor Cinderella from 1934 on our youtube! Check out the movie and then head to our youtube for more! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7M2FA2rjYg4We read Genesis 17 and learn that god is obsessed with dicks. 0:00 - Logical Fallacy: Circular Argument or "Begging the Question"; Drink of the day: Temana sipping Tequila 2:28 - Meat Segment: Picking up where we left off last week, if the Holy Spirit doesn't do a lot of talking to individuals, what is all of this stuff about "hearing from the Holy Spirit" today? I'd say it's the conscience, and the Holy Spirit and the conscience are two different things, my friend! This meat segment is mostly walking through scriptures to show that the conscience is a biblical idea. 28:30 - Three Favorite News Stories (More or Less): First, Britney Griner got sentenced to 9 years in a Russian prison and I have some thoughts. Second, Eric Adams (NYC mayor) is being racist in the name of ending racism (which is always how the left answers racism). Third, Demi Lovato is readopting She/Her pronouns and the way she describes it is fascinating. More or less third, the Biden whitehouse is trying to redefine a recession which is what we're in, and it's two consecutive quarters of negative GDP, cause that's what it is. 1:01:01 - Let's Count all the Logical Fallacies: a video of a guy trying to explain why it's important to use incorrect pronouns. He supports his argument with one bad inductive argument, and a bunch of fallacies surrounding it. 1:31:42 - Covid Minute: Fauci is a liar. That is all. 1:34:54 - Hymn Hype: "My Redeemer" by Philip Bliss and James McGranahan
JoJo Siwa's mom is coming for Candace Cameron Bure and Demi Lovato is back to She/Her

Welcome to Season 4 of the She Hit Refresh podcast. A podcast for women age 30 and up who want to break free from routine and start a life of travel. Specifically women who want to move abroad or travel the world long-term. I sit down with women who have made their refresh dreams come true and discuss how and why they moved abroad or hit the road to travel. This episode is a special one as it's a recap of our 2022 She Hit Refresh Mijas, Spain retreat that I hosted in April. I sit down with Astrid Provence who is an experienced global facilitator, coach, speaker, and performance artist from South Africa who joined me at the retreat to help facilitate sessions throughout the week. Come listen as we give you an insight into what the retreat is all about! What we discuss The origins of the She Hit Retreat The purpose of the retreat What kinds of women attend the retreat Why they attend the retreat Where the retreat took place The workshops we led What excursions we had What we all did in our free time during the week and much more! About Astrid Astrid Provénce (She/Her) is an experienced global facilitator, coach, speaker, and performance artist from South Africa, now based in Madrid, Spain. She has spent over 8 years studying personal development, leadership, and spiritual principles. She has worked internationally, having developed and led workshops in over 10 countries. Having studied with The International Coach Federation (ICF), Landmark Worldwide, and great teachers like the late Shakti Malan at Shakti Shiva Academy and Mary Morrisey at The Brave Thinking Institute, she has honed her skills in holding groups through deep processes. Like many women, she grew up in a culture that did not guide, celebrate, or support her sexual development. She embarked on her own sexual awakening in her early thirties that helped her shed layers of shame and disconnection from herself. This led her on a journey to find her passion as a guide to support women in their own re-membering of their pure and empowering erotic nature. She coaches women in sensual wellness, to find their confidence from within, and live a joyful and juicy life. Astrid is the co-founder and sensual embodiment coach at Into The Boudoir (ITB). ITB offers sensual experiences for women, workshops, and boudoir photography with a mission that all women celebrate their bodies and reclaim their innate sensual power. Looking to move to Europe? This week Brónach (She/Her) and Denise (They/She) interview Patricia Lübeck (She/Her). Patricia Lubeck is a nurturer, healer, and protector who holds people as they cross the big thresholds of life: Birth, death, trauma integration, and healing around sexuality and intimacy. Patricia has trained in more modalities than one could count and loves being able to understand and explain the human experience. Beyond that, though, she has a deep routing in indigenous practice, both from her own lineage and from the many places around the world she is lucky to call home. As a practitioner Patricia bridges the mind and heart through deep compassion and loving presence. Grounding the cosmic landscape through embodied practices, she has dedicated her journey to breathing beauty and life into practices of old. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tendingtheflame/message

On this week's episode of Foot On Yo' Neck, we are joined by our lovely guest and fellow bruin NJ Omorogieva to discuss what it's like living outside the US and the impact it has on daily life as a Black woman.NJ's pronouns are She/Her. NJ is an LA native currently living in Madrid,Spain and preparing for her move to London, England to continue her education journey. For the past two years, she has worked as an English Language Teacher Assistant in a Spanish high school. Though her job is arbitrary at times, she gives purpose to her position by curating activities and presentations highlighting BIPOC issues and history and discussing social issues with her students. Her time in Spain has changed her perspective and future plans significantly, offering her an alternative Black existence and decentralizing the American Black narrative. These realizations are ever present in her work, art, and spiritual journey. If you resonate with any part of our conversation and would like to further support NJ's work, be sure to follow them on instagram @radgal_nj and her art page @radgal.paints. Hi, my pronouns are She/Her. Would you mind sharing yours? Done. Ice broken. Abbey talks to her friend, Lane Wilson-Powell about his incredible story. This is truly an episode you don't want to miss, and definitely want to share. Being a part of a population other than your own is maybe not something a lot of folks can fully comprehend. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't take it upon yourself to self-educate. There are plenty of ways to learn about the things that you are not. And part of being a good human is doing so.
