Manika Dulcio of the 'I've Been Meaning to Watch That' podcast visits us with a dusty old board game from 2005 called Zathura: A Space Adventure, and before we know it, we're thrust into a wild sci-fi adventure with meteors, dinosaur aliens and frozen older sisters! Jon Favreau's first big effects movie has been eclipsed in popular culture by the first adaptation of a Chris Van Allsburg children's book, Jumanji – with which it bears a striking resemblance – but it has a lot going for it. It features early appearances by Josh Hutcherson and Kristen Stewart, with Dax Shepherd and Tim Robbins as the responsible adults, some striking visuals and a captivating combination of practical and CGI effects. But did it deserve to fall into the memory hole, or should a new generation of kids give it a spin? Find out! Check out Manika's podcast on iTunes, Spotify or wherever good podcasts are streamed! Peter Billingsley has been a member of the Hollywood community since he was a small child, achieving success and accolades, both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. The highly-successful child actor-turned-producer received an Emmy Award nomination, in 2005, as co-executive producer on the critically acclaimed Independent Film Channel show, Dinner for Five (2001), with Jon Favreau. He also served as executive producer on the hit summer film, The Break-Up (2006), and recently wrapped production on Marvel Comics feature film, Iron Man (2008), directed by Jon Favreau. Billingsley also served as co-producer on the Artisan Entertainment classic, Made (2001), starring Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn, as well as Sony's recent science fiction release, Zathura: A Space Adventure (2005), directed by Favreau. Billingsley recently became a principal in "Wild West Picture Show Productions". The production company, founded by Vince Vaughn, currently has a first look production deal with Universal Studios. Growing up in the public eye, Billingsley began his acting career, at the age of three, in some of the '70s most memorable television commercials. After appearing on numerous television shows and films during his youth, the Emmy Award-nominated actor delivered a performance for the ages in the beloved holiday film, A Christmas Story (1983). Playing humorist Jean Shepherd's youthful alter-ego "Ralphie", Billingsley's repeated requests, in the film, for a genuine Red Ryder B-B gun quickly catapulted the actor to instant stardom and has since driven the film into pop culture lore as the classic modern-day Christmas tale. Born in New York City, Billingsley currently resides in Los Angeles. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Jon Favreau is most well known for being the creator of the Disney+ series The Mandalorian and feature films like Elf, The Lion King, and Iron Man. This week, we discuss his lesser-known film Zathura: A Space Adventure. This family friendly sci-fi film was released in 2005 and is based on the book Zathura by Chris Van Allsburg who was also the author of Jumanji. The story is about two brothers, Walter and Danny, who find a mysterious board game in the basement, which transports their house into outer space. Along with their older sister Lisa and an astronaut, they try to survive the game so they can return home. Starring Josh Hutcherson, Jonah Bobo, Dax Shepard, Kristen Stewart, and Tim Robbins. Favreau is one of our favorite directors and we recommend you check out this lesser-known film. What are your thoughts on the film? As always, you can reach us at podcast@moviesthatmakeus.com. We can guarantee, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that this is the most thorough discussion of Jonah Bobo's career and post-film life you can find on the internet, thanks to resident Jonah Bobo scholar Jade Dickinson. Eventually we start talking about ZATHURA, and we're pretty confident this is also the most thorough discussion of that film since it came out, and we even find time to talk about fancams, lament the death of the Wii, and dig into the Nu-manji movies. On this episode of DID YOU EVEN WATCH IT? we discuss Zathura: A Space AdventureDID YOU EVEN WATCH IT? is a PODCAST by three brothers and a best Mate, where we talk about one of our biggest passions, movies. In particular, movies that are seen by critics and/or fans as flops/failures/average that we enjoyed or simply movies that we don't think have gotten the notoriety or praise that they deserve. Each week we will pick a different movie to discuss and talk about things we love about the movie, the actors, favourite scenes, quotes, behind the scenes trivia and even parts of the movies that didn't make sense or could have been done better. Maybe we find listeners that agree with us and maybe even change people's minds on some movies or think we are crazy for loving these movies.

This week, we randomized up the board game movie Zathura: A Space Adventure, starring Josh Hutcherson, Jonah Bobo, Kristen Stewart, Tim Robbins, and Dax Shepard. This movie tanked pretty hard at the box office, and after seeing it for ourselves, we cannot really find a reason. Sure, it's not nearly as ambitious as Jumanji was, but it was a pretty entertaining time for a kids movie. I'm supposed to be funny in these discriptions? Eh, who has the time.
