The painting hung on the wall of a home for years, unnoticed and forgotten, until one day it fell. When it was taken to an art restorer for repairs, he discovered it was a long-lost Rembrandt masterpiece titled The Adoration of the Magi. It had been thought that only copies of the work remained, but here was the original. Suddenly the painting’s value skyrocketed to hundreds of millions of dollars. The Bible paints another picture of underestimated value and forgotten worth. Isaiah the prophet, inspired by the Holy Spirit, told God’s people that even though they would be taken away to a foreign land where they would suffer and be devalued, He would still be with them: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine,” He assured them (Isaiah 43:1). Though they would “pass through the waters” and “walk through the fire” ( v. 2), His faithfulness to them would not change. With words that point to His coming kingdom in Christ, God promised that He would one day restore “everyone who is called by my name,” (v. 7) and bring them home to Him. God will one day gather all who are His because they “are precious and honored in [His] sight” (v. 4), each one an original! Our Creator values us because of His infinite kindness and mercy. The world may overlook us, but He never will.

The Catechism teaches about the effectiveness of prayer and how to persevere in prayer. Fr. Mike explains that although God already knows what we need before we ask, he wants us to pray, and he extends us dignity by allowing us to pray and ask for what we need. In the process of prayer, we are able to learn the heart of the Father, grow closer to him, and become more like him. The Catechism goes on to state that when it comes to prayer, it is always possible, a vital necessity, and inseparable from the Christian life. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 2738-2745. This episode has been found to be in conformity with the Catechism by the Institute on the Catechism, under the Subcommittee on the Catechism, USCCB. Bishop Robert Barron’s Sermons - Catholic Preaching and Homilies

Friends, our readings for the fourth and final Sunday of Advent are all about maybe the central motif of the spiritual life. Our culture today is so self-oriented: It's all about me and my choice. But that attitude is directly repugnant to the Bible; in fact, the Bible is constantly trying to move us out of that space and into a different space—namely, one of surrender to the higher purpose of God.

What if the key to understanding the Bible's supernatural storyline has been hiding in plain sight—on every mountain peak from Genesis to Revelation?Dr. Joel Muddamalle returns to break down the cosmic mountain motif: an ancient Near Eastern concept that shaped how the Hebrews understood everything from Eden to the temple to the final battle. Mountains weren't hiking destinations—they were portals. Meeting places. Contested territory between Yahweh and the rebellious sons of God.In this episode, we explore why Eden was almost certainly elevated, how the Tower of Babel was humanity's attempt to build their own sacred peak, what made Mount Hermon the headquarters of evil, and why God chose Sinai to reveal His personal name to Moses. Joel walks us through the cosmic geography that connects Sheol, the abyss, and the heavenly throne room—all anchored to the mountain image.Plus: we officially announce Stranger Theology, our new theological project. Christmas can be a season filled with beauty and hope, yet for many, it also highlights grief, loss, and emotional heaviness. As this devotional reminds us, celebrations don’t look the same every year—some seasons overflow with joy, while others are marked by sorrow. Still, Scripture assures us that God meets us tenderly in our pain. He is Immanuel, God with us (Matthew 1:23), and He invites us to cast every anxiety on Him because He genuinely cares (1 Peter 5:7). Even when our hearts feel heavy, we can find lasting joy in the truth that Christ came to rescue us, redeem us, and bring the hope of eternal life. Joy may not always look like outward cheer, but it is a steady confidence anchored in the presence and love of Jesus. Main Takeaways You’ll learn why Christmas can feel emotionally heavy for many, especially those navigating grief or change. Discover how remembering Christ’s presence—Immanuel—helps restore hope in difficult seasons. Understand the biblical call to cast all anxieties on the Lord, trusting His deep care for us. Reflect on how worship can become a source of comfort even when joy feels distant. Be encouraged that lasting joy is rooted not in circumstances, but in Christ’s unchanging love and promise of eternal life. So-called activist Jake Lang marched into Dearborn, Michigan, in November waving bacon at Qurans, lighting the same on fire, and trying to provoke Muslim residents with chants of “Christ is King” and calls on City Hall to remove all Muslims from the community, and in fact the country. Two major problems exist here: one, if this treatment of Islam were to override the First Amendment, how long do you think it will be before the same war comes for Christianity – has it not already? Two, are you so sure that the rhetoric of Lang even makes sense? A glance at the Quran will demonstrate that it actually teaches peace, not to commit suicide, forbids usury strongly, and the additional sayings of Muhammed call for followers to never kill women or children. Most of the accusations Lang makes against Islam are actually projections of accusations made against Jews. As the propaganda has failed to secure ongoing American support for Israel from all parties, it has turned to a Christian base that is willing to sell its birthright for a couple Bible verses. Hence, Jesus is the reason for the treason. Listen to Ground Zero tonight as Ryan Gable fills in for Clyde Lewis and speaks with guest, Chris Michaels about – Jesus Is The Reason For The Treason.

After feeling disappointed by someone or something we trusted in, how can we know where to place our hope? In this sermon, Pastor Allen Jackson discusses hope, the topic of the first week of Advent, and how we can be certain that God is trustworthy. He teaches about the importance of guarding our hearts and practicing patience through the discomfort of hardship. Suffering will come to all of us because expressions of evil in our world are real, but the Bible teaches that even through difficult seasons, we can rejoice. We find everlasting joy and peace when we place our hope in the Lord!

Latter-day Saints are often told that the contemporary Church is built on the same model Jesus Christ used to establish His church. In this bonus re-release, Cynthia and Susan offer a few thoughts on that idea, and also discuss the pattern they see: the Bible doesn't only show Jesus choosing women in the New Testament—beginning with Eve, women are cast in pivotal roles from the very start. The original episode explores how Jesus's inclusion of women was radical within its cultural context. Yet for most of history, his namesake religion has been marked by near-total domination of the patriarchy. What happened? Greg Prince once asked Chieko Okazaki a question that bears repeating: "…where do we need to go to get women in the Church where He wants them to be?" In Episode 248, Cynthia and Susan pose that question again, shining light on a few of the women hidden in plain sight at Christianity's beginnings.

Welcome back to Build Your Bible Habit, where you can listen to a chapter from the practical and life-improving book of Proverbs in under five minutes. People tend to start cutting things out of their lives when overly busy. One of the worst things to cut is your time in the Bible. God gave us instructions for navigating the issues of life, but if we aren't reading His Word, we won't know what He said. You probably have a lot to do, but even if you don't, it is still a good idea to commit your plans to God and ask Him to establish your thoughts. Here's a related reminder verse to consider: "Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established." Y'all, we have spent an entire year talking about the impact of the seasons on our spiritual, emotional, and physical lives. A whole year working through things in our TSF Seasons Guidebook. Sooo many brilliant friends have joined us to mentor us through the winter, spring, summer, and fall and now we've circled all the way back. It's cold outside again. The snow is on the ground again for some of you. The days are darker outside. And we've made it. On December 21st, winter begins and we will have officially finished our lap through all four seasons.  Today, there was only one person who could help us end what we started and that's the pastor that made us all so curious about what God does in seasons. If you haven't heard Episode 851 about the season God has you in with Pastor Banning Liebscher, I would love for you to go back and listen to that. It was the conversation that started this whole year doing a deep dive about seasons. Today, we're going to talk about what we've seen God do across the world this year and the way He's worked in seasons in our lives—the ones that passed quickly and the ones that lasted longer than we hoped. And then we're going to talk about which spiritual discipline Banning thinks we need to lean into in 2026 as he looks at the state of the church right now. In your TSF Seasons Guidebook, we're on page 130, so get those note-taking pages ready.  . . . . . If you enjoyed this episode, I think you'd also love Episode 973 with Jon Tyson. . . . . . What motivates our prayer? Do we see God as our “divine genie,” or do we look to him as our Father? We learn that the most common temptation in prayer is a lack of faith. Another major temptation is acedia or sloth. In the face of these temptations of presumption and discouragement, we must respond with filial trust in God our Father, the giver of all good gifts. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 2732-2737. Disclaimer: We are not professionals. This podcast is opinioned based and from life experience. This is for entertainment purposes only. Opinions helped by our guests may not reflect our own. But we love a good conversation. In this live 2 Be Better Podcast episode, Chris and Peaches start with real life wins and a behind the scenes look at building a traditional family and future homestead, from cutting almost $100,000 of debt and lowering monthly expenses to their goal of buying land by the end of 2026. They talk about Patreon growth, retreats, kids evolving emotionally, and Chris's upcoming daily affirmation book with light lunar and planetary touches, giving you a grounded picture of what intentional marriage, parenting, and money stewardship actually look like in real time. You also hear a powerful success story from a fiancé who carried his partner through multiple deaths in the family, grad school, and even a very sick dog, then used the podcast to lose weight, repair their sex life, and step into traditional marriage roles with more communication, intimacy, and leadership. From there they dive deep into a 25 year old woman's email about leaving an abusive relationship, growing up with a narcissistic mother, living with BPD, and feeling stuck in hyper independence while secretly craving a traditional marriage as a stay at home mom, homemaker, and submissive wife. Chris and Peaches unpack shame, ego, and family control, challenge the “never depend on a man” narrative, and give practical tools for healing narcissistic abuse, setting boundaries, asking for help daily, and finding therapy and community that fits a more traditional woman. They also walk through her quarter life crisis, fear that it is “too late” to find a husband, and her early steps toward a personal relationship with Christ and God, explaining how to read the Bible, question religion, and build faith without surrendering your mind to a pastor or denomination. If you are a hyper independent woman who wants to be a traditional wife, a stay at home mom, and a homemaker, or you are navigating narcissistic family dynamics, abusive exes, BPD, or late in life faith, this Christian leaning relationship and marriage podcast episode will speak directly to you and give you clear, no nonsense steps forward.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/2-be-better--5828421/support.

"Hebrews 1 begins by saying that God has spoken finally and fully in His Son, who is greater than angels. How does the supremacy of Christ fuel our mission to make Him known among the nations? How do the warnings about perseverance in Hebrews 3-4 encourage us to keep going in difficult ministry contexts and not give up? How do you see spiritual maturity tied to missional living—both in sending people and in equipping them to disciple others? The book of Hebrews shows that Christ is ‘better'—better than angels, Moses, and even the high priest. How do the first six chapters begin to build this case, and why does that matter for our faith and mission today? In today's episode, Emma Dotter and Watermark member, Andrew Templeton talk about Hebrews 1-6, setting up the book and talking about how the themes intersect with missions and discipleship. Join Rosalynde Welch for an interview with Dr. Kristian Heal. Reading scripture is one of the fundamental spiritual practices of Latter-day Saints. Dr. Heal shows how scholarship on the Bible can enrich our understanding of the ancient book that connects us to other faith traditions across the globe. We talk about what biblical studies is and is not; its gifts and its challenges for believing readers of the Bible; and what Latter-day Saints scholars, with our understanding of the Book of Mormon and modern scripture, can add to the discussion. These are the kinds of questions we hope to advance in coming years with the Institute's Bible initiative.
