Daily Boost Podcast Show Notes Three Steps to Change Anything June 10, 2025 | Episode 5113 Host: Scott Smith Episode Description Change doesn't have to be complicated, even though we make it that way. In this episode, I break down the three essential steps you need to transform anything in your life. Whether you're stuck in analysis paralysis or overwhelmed by too many options, these steps will give you the clarity and direction you've been missing. I share why bad things change while good changes take more intentional steps, plus a personal story about my radio DJ days and how the podcasting world has flipped since 2006. Featured Story Scott reflects on his transition from radio DJ to podcast host, sharing how people once questioned his move to podcasting back in 2006. Now, 20 years later, former radio colleagues are calling him for advice on getting into the podcast world. It's a perfect example of how dramatically things can change when you stick to your vision. Important Points Most people struggle with change because they don't know what they want, making this the most difficult but essential first step. Success models and frameworks are everywhere, but you can only find the right roadmap when you have crystal-clear clarity on your specific outcome. Consistent, disciplined action toward your goal should happen every minute you're awake because every minute you're not moving forward is a minute you're not living the life you want. Memorable Quotes “Bad things change. Something bad happens, you change. Never going to do that again. Good things change slower than that.” “Every minute you're not bold is a minute you're not living what you want to live.” “You've been around living in this life a long time. You're smart enough to do this.” Scott's Three-Step Approach Get crystal clear on what you want - this is the most difficult step and may take weeks of honest self-reflection to figure out. Find a framework or roadmap by modeling others who have achieved what you want, but only after you know your specific outcome. Take consistent, disciplined action toward your goal every single day without procrastination or hesitation. Connect With Me Search for The Daily Boost on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. Episode 355: INDO WAREHOUSE “Bringing South Asia To Coachella, and Creating A New Genre ‘IndoHouse'” In this episode, DJ Crooked sits down with @Indo.Warehouse founders @KunalMerchant and @KahaniMusic to talk about the rise of Indo-House — a genre fusing South Asian musical heritage with house and dance music. What started as a passion project has grown into a global movement, with Indo Warehouse delivering immersive live shows at iconic venues like @Coachella and @BrooklynMirage, and soon, the @F1 Grand Prix in Singapore. Kahani and Kunal share their paths into music (01:15), the moment their creative partnership began (20:43), and how they've navigated the tension between cultural authenticity and mainstream appeal (33:10). They discuss building the Indo Warehouse brand while juggling day jobs (46:01), nurturing their audience's understanding of the genre (1:00:31), and signing with @UnitedTalent to expand their global reach (1:16:20). We also reflect on their game-changing Coachella performance (1:46:20) and close with a conversation about Indo-House's broader cultural impact — from music to fashion and beyond (1:50:01). Be sure to stay tuned to the R.O.A.D. Patreon for a special Indo-house edit pack curated by Indo Warehouse. "I'm ready to bring back gatekeeping." The New Yorker staff writer discusses how to protect the underground, experimenting with drugs and her new book, Health and Safety. Can drugs help us find meaning in music and nightlife? This is a question that today's Exchange guest, New Yorker staff writer Emily Witt, asks in earnest in her new book Health and Safety: A Breakdown. Just released in hardcover in the UK and Europe, the memoir traces Witt's life in her early-to-mid 30s. A journalist living and working in Brooklyn, she began experimenting with psychedelics and club drugs after years of living what she describes as a conservative, straight-and-narrow, middle-class life. She became enamoured with the borough's underground raves, frequenting events like the festival Sustain-Release, the party Unter and sets at Bushwick haunt Bossa Nova Civic Club, all while falling in love with an aspiring DJ and producer she calls Andrew. As the book progresses, Witt documents the growing MAGA movement in America, gun rights rallies and mass shootings. As the country falls apart, she watches her romantic relationship fall apart, too. Drugs and Brooklyn nightlife, she writes, became both an escape and a way to rearrange a world that she starts to feel no longer makes sense. Witt shares critical opinions about the underground scene's capacity to be a utopia and place of belonging in an increasingly hostile world, arguing that there should be more gatekeeping in place to protect a scene that's threatened by capitalism and the mainstream. She also interrogates what she calls "woke identity politics" in Brooklyn, the lack of change that came from the Black Lives Matter movement, empty calls for political protest that dominated the early days of the pandemic and why, despite everything, she's chosen to stay in Brooklyn for good. Black Rock City's soundscape is a wild ride from Afro-punk to Zydeco. This episode explores the why and how of two styles: the thumping electronic dance music that makes BRC a DJ's Meccathe anything-goes improv of jazz, a dusty mirror to the Burner spiritStuart, a self-proclaimed EDM newbie, gets a crash course from a DJ in the know. He chats with a legendary DJ about how Burning Man transmogrifies DJ culture into something utterly unique. It's a refreshing deep dive for aficionados! Then, Allie spins the radio dial through BRC's sonic smorgasbord and tunes into jazz. For decades, the Playa Jazz Cafe has been hosting live musicians in a dreamy, pop-up club. Camp lead and "hack” jazz musician Neil Kelly shares stories of serendipity, alchemy, and in-the-moment vibes of jazz at Burning Man.What's the common beat between a big-name beat-dropper and a jazz flow pro? Send us a textWhen DJ Jacobucci resigned from his firefighting career and dumped his pension into opening Upgraded Industries, it wasn't just a business decision—it was a leap of faith into a lifelong passion. "That's betting on yourself," he explains on the Ride Home Rants podcast. "That's either saying I'm going to be poor or this is going to work."This all-or-nothing mentality has shaped Upgraded Industries into what DJ lovingly describes as a "dysfunctional family that you can't help but love." Starting as a personal trainer while navigating a difficult divorce, DJ gradually built his business until he could focus on his true passion—combat sports. With a background as a wrestler and fighter himself, he's created a training environment where accountability and self-motivation are non-negotiable. "I don't hold hands," he states plainly, reflecting his belief that fighters must develop discipline alongside technique. The gym's success speaks for itself, producing fighters like Tony "The Latin Assassin" and attracting talented coaches who share DJ's vision. What began as Sunday wrestling sessions with whoever would show up has evolved into an elite training facility that stays true to old-school toughness while adapting to modern training methods. Between training professional fighters, raising his identical twin sons who wrestle competitively, and managing all aspects of the business, DJ embodies the fighter's mentality in everything he does.Throughout the conversation, DJ offers candid insights on the state of combat sports, expressing concern that UFC might follow boxing's self-destructive path, while sharing stories of the tight-knit community he's built at Upgraded Industries. Whether you're a fighting enthusiast or simply appreciate stories of entrepreneurs betting on their passion, DJ's journey from firefighter to gym owner demonstrates what's possible when you commit fully to building something meaningful around what you love.• Betting everything on his dream by resigning from firefighting and investing his pension into the gym• Balancing fatherhood with running the gym, prioritizing family while maintaining high standards for his figSubscribe for exclusive content: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1530455/support Buzzsprout - Let's get your podcast launched!Start for FREETactical BrotherhoodThe Tactical Brotherhood is a movement to support America.Deemed FitBe a part of our movement to instill confidence motivation and a willingness to keep pushing forwardBuddy's Beard CareBuddy's Beard Care provides premium men's grooming products at an affordable price.Sweet Hands SportsElevate your game with Sweet Hands Sports! On the latest episode of Move the Sticks, Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks break down the biggest headlines from around the NFL. The guys kick things off with the news that’s been swirling all offseason, Aaron Rodgers is officially headed to Pittsburgh on a one-year deal. They dig into what the dynamic might look like between Rodgers and Mike Tomlin, and predict who could emerge as Rodgers’ go-to target on offense. Then, they shift to New England, where they dive into Drake Maye’s development in Year 2 and why this year’s Patriots draft class could be the foundation of a playoff-caliber roster down the line. Plus, DJ and Bucky react to the Packers’ decision to release star cornerback Jaire Alexander.
