Perayaan malam Tahun Baru 2026 di Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI), Jakarta Pusat, yang diselenggarakan Pemerintah Provinsi (Pemprov) DKI Jakarta, menuai apresiasi masyarakat. Selain berlangsung meriah dan tertib, acara diisi dengan doa bersama serta penggalangan donasi kemanusiaan bagi korban bencana di Sumatera, dikutip dari keterangan yang disampaikan Dis Kominfotik DKI Jakarta. Santoso (38), warga Jakarta Selatan, menilai perayaan tahun baru kali ini terasa sederhana, namun tetap hangat dan bermakna.“Meskipun sederhana, acaranya tetap meriah. Harapan saya dan warga Jakarta, ke depan kota ini semakin jaya dan sukses. Harapan yang belum tercapai tahun ini semoga bisa terwujud di tahun depan,” tuturnya di sekitar Bundaran HI, Rabu (31/12/2025) malam. Santoso juga menyambut positif penggalangan donasi yang dilakukan dalam rangkaian acara tersebut. Menurutnya, bantuan yang terkumpul akan sangat berarti bagi warga terdampak bencana. “Semoga mereka diberi ketabahan dan kekuatan, dan Allah mengganti kesedihan mereka dengan kebaikan,” harapnya.Apresiasi serupa disampaikan Nana (18), warga Jakarta Pusat. Ia menilai keputusan Pemprov DKI Jakarta menyertakan unsur solidaritas dalam perayaan tahun baru merupakan langkah yang tepat. “Saudara kita di Aceh dan Sumatera sedang sangat membutuhkan bantuan. Jika perayaannya terlalu mewah, rasanya kurang menghargai korban bencana. Terima kasih untuk gubernur, wakil gubernur, dan masyarakat yang sudah berdonasi,” tutur Nana.Sementara itu, Nisa (32), warga Jakarta Pusat, menilai perayaan tahun baru kali ini berhasil memadukan euforia pergantian tahun dengan empati terhadap korban bencana. “Acara ini seru, tapi tetap menunjukkan kepedulian. Doa bersama dan donasi yang besar mencerminkan empati masyarakat Jakarta. Semoga bantuan ini dapat meringankan beban saudara kita di Aceh dan Sumatera,” ujarnya. (Ter)

In this episode, I have the great pleasure to speak with the very talented Yulius Santoso who was born and raised in Surabaya, Indonesia. He has previously lived and worked in Japan, China, Malaysia, and Singapore. He is currently based in Sydney, Australia. Yulius runs a consulting business and also teaches at The University of New South Wales. Like many photographers, Yulius initially took up photography with his iPhone.  It was the desire to capture the essence of daily life and to deliver photo of the day images - one photo each day, without fail. Yulius is inspired by street photography greats such as Henri Cartier-Bresson and the desire of capturing a decisive moment.
