Fr. Mike emphasizes that God did not have to do anything for us after the Fall, yet he sent us his only Son, and through his Son, we have received grace upon grace. We learn that the transmission of the Christian faith consists of proclaiming Jesus Christ to lead others to faith in him. If we are called to teach him, we must first have a relationship with him. Just as the Apostles burned with a desire to spread the Good News, we too are called to catechize and deliver the word of Christ as his spokesmen on Earth. There are seasons in life when no matter how hard you try, nothing seems to move. You push forward, but the door won’t budge. You try to step back, but the path is blocked. You pray, plan, adjust, and strive—yet you still feel stuck. Psalm 40 reminds us that David knew this feeling well. He described being lifted from a “slimy pit” and set on solid ground. But later, when trouble surrounded him again, he didn’t pretend everything was fine. He cried out honestly, even urgently: “Come quickly, Lord, to help me.” Feeling stuck can bring frustration, fear, and even desperation. We may question why God hasn’t changed our situation yet. But Scripture shows us that waiting seasons are not wasted seasons. God is not absent in the delay. He remains present in the confinement. Sometimes God rescues immediately. Other times, He strengthens us within the waiting. Either way, He is our help and deliverer. He welcomes our honest prayers. He is not offended by our tears or our pleas for Him to hurry. If you feel wedged between circumstances you cannot control, remember: you are not trapped alone. The Lord is near. He hears you. He sustains you. And in time, He will place your feet on steady ground again. Main Takeaways Feeling stuck is a common and deeply human experience. David modeled honest, urgent prayer when he needed rescue. As our bus traveled higher and higher on the narrow road along the Andes Mountains, my teammates were busy laughing and singing. I was staring out my window—aghast that there weren’t any guardrails between us and the abyss to our right. As we kept going up and up and up, feeling a bit fearful and anxious, I started to wonder why our short-term mission team had come to this remote part of Ecuador. Then it dawned on me: God must really love these people if He would send His own Son to die for them. Surely, I could get through a scary bus ride to express that love with them. It ended up being such a joy to do short Bible lessons, share our testimonies and pray with the people who welcomed us in the various towns we visited each day. The apostle Paul was committed to telling others about Jesus so they too could put their trust in Him. In Romans 10:13 he says that all who call on Jesus “will be saved.” But, “how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?” (Romans 10:14-15). There are people all around us who don’t know Christ. Let’s ask God for the courage to share the Good News of Jesus with others, to pray with them and invite them to a church service or activity.

Several times in the Bible, we read that what is impossible for man is possible for God. What does this mean in various settings? Is making the impossible possible a matter of faith? Character? God's power? What might be dangerous about the possibility for humans? How can we understand and fully live within the boundaries of the possible while stretching to experience God's power in the impossible?Receive When life feels uncertain, it helps to remember who God truly is and that the Bible says repeatedly that nothing is too hard for God. Pastoral Chat In the last days, the Bible teaches that dreams and visions will increase, so we should expect God to speak in this way and intentionally steward what He reveals. A practical step is to write down significant dreams immediately, allowing time to discern patterns and meaning through prayer and reflection. At the same time, when others share dreams or words about us, we should remain open but discerning—listening carefully, receiving what aligns with what God is already speaking to us, and setting aside what does not resonate. Above all, every dream or vision must be filtered through Scripture, our unchanging foundation, because God will never contradict His Word. There's something that can damage your hearing and your vision. It can even harden your arteries. Well, that might not be a clinical explanation of yeast in our lives, but it is a spiritual observation—an illustration that Jesus uses with his disciples. Watch out, beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and of Herod. They haven't a clue what he means. Jesus says, don't you know or understand even yet? Are your hearts too hard to take it in? You have eyes, can't you see? You have ears, can't you hear? Don't you remember anything at all? It seems that the yeast of the Pharisees could damage their hearing, their vision, their hearts, and even their memory. So Jesus wants them to be vigilant, to keep that yeast out of their houses and out of their lives. In Exodus, the children of Israel were told that before they could celebrate the Passover meal, they had to remove all yeast from their homes. Then they could sit down and enjoy the meal before them. It was a meal prepared from the hand of God, the result of his work and not their own. That's what getting rid of the yeast represented. The yeast represented the Pharisees' teaching of self-righteousness and self-justification. It represented their trying to make themselves right with God by their own piety, their attempted obedience to the law. Attempted obedience has never been our means of justification. No, we must rid ourselves of the yeast of self-righteousness in order to receive the righteous feast and life that is offered to us in Christ. That's why Jesus says, beware of the yeast. He calls us to rid ourselves of it so that we can see and hear clearly, to live well and hear well. He wants it gone so that we can enjoy the new heart he has given us, and enjoy the meal that comes from his hand. It is a meal that is abundant and feeds multitudes, with basketfuls left over. Let's be aware of the yeast of the Pharisees; it so easily spreads into everything we do. Instead, let's look to our Passover Lamb, prepared and offered to us out of the abundant and loving heart of our Father. He is the Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. Jesus has taken it away, and he offers us the feast of his life even now, today. It cannot be earned. It simply must be received. Ours is just to say thank you. In this episode of First Light 27, Chuck dives into something we all wrestle with — people. In a world that's quick to judge and quicker to react, we're called to slow down and let love surround the way we treat people. The Bible reminds us in 1 Corinthians 13:4–7 that love is patient and kind. It doesn't envy, it doesn't boast, it isn't proud. That kind of love changes how we handle conflict, how we speak, and how we show up daily. And in John 13:35, we're told that people will know we belong to Him by the way we love one another. At the end of the day, our faith isn't just something we talk about. It's something people should feel when they're around us. Patience in frustration. Kindness in disagreement. Grace when it's undeserved. People matter. And loving them well is part of the purpose we were created for.

There’s something about the shift from winter to spring that stirs a desire for fresh starts. As sunlight lingers longer and air begins to warm, we start noticing what’s been sitting untouched—dusty corners, cluttered closets, items we no longer use but haven’t released. Spring cleaning can feel overwhelming. It’s rarely just about things. Objects often carry memories—joyful seasons, painful chapters, transitions we didn’t fully process. Sorting through them can stir emotions we didn’t expect. Yet sometimes God uses physical cleaning as a picture of spiritual renewal. As we clear out drawers and shelves, He may gently invite us to clear out old resentments, regrets, or attachments we’ve quietly carried. Philippians 3:13 reminds us to forget what lies behind and press forward. Isaiah 43:18 calls us not to dwell on former things. Cleaning is more than organizing—it can be surrender. It can be an opportunity to let God bring healing where memories once hurt, and gratitude where blessings once bloomed. Just as David prayed, “Wash me, and I will be whiter than snow,” we too can invite God to cleanse both our homes and our hearts. This season of decluttering can become a sacred reset—making space not only in our houses, but in our souls. Brother Wybo served persecuted Christians for decades as part of Open Doors with Brother Andrew. Andrew, the author of God's Smuggler, had a passion for Bible distribution and didn't shy from taking necessary risks to get God's Word into hostile areas and restricted nations. While serving with Open Doors, Wybo created the World Watch List which tracks countries where Christians face the most restrictions and persecution. Now he's led in the creation of a new list which tracks how difficult it is for Christians around the world to access Bibles. The Bible Access List tracks nations where governments attempt to stop Bible distribution, like Afghanistan, and also countries like India where Bibles may be legal but many Christians don't have access because of economic realities, supply issues or other reasons. Wybo hopes that creating a list that includes nations facing both Bible restrictions and Bible shortages will motivate Christians to pray and get involved in helping meet the need. He will share what surprised him most during his research and what formats of Bibles Christians around the world are asking for. He also shares how partnerships are key to meeting the need. The days of our lives, the choices we make, the events that unfold: all of it can sometimes seem like a riddle, a story only half-told. He calls us to discover his way of love, to value faith and hope and love above all things. "These are the greatest things," we are reminded. Our task is not to figure it all out—because, as we read, knowledge is partial and incomplete.
