Ted Ryan, Ford's Heritage Brand Manager, joins us from a golf course to share exciting news about the 60th anniversary of the Ford Bronco. The special commemorative model features stunning Wimbledon white paint with red accents, including the Bronco name spelled out in red on the hood and "1966" embedded in the hubcaps. The original Bronco was unveiled on August 11, 1965, when Ford handed reporters cowboy hats and scarves, telling them "let's go rodeo" before introducing what would become an American icon.Ryan shares delightful stories about the Bronco's enduring appeal - from his 84-year-old father who's on his third new Bronco to being stopped by a Mississippi police officer who wanted to see the vehicle so badly that Ryan handed him the keys for a test drive. The officer's immediate reaction? "I'm buying one of these things." Ford has already sold over a million combined Bronco and Bronco Sport models in just four years since their revival. We also explore fascinating Bronco trivia, including how Pope John Paul II used customized white Broncos as "Popemobiles" during his New York visit, with a famous photograph showing him surrounded by admirers at Yankee Stadium. Ryan debunks the myth that O.J. Simpson's infamous white Bronco chase killed the model's popularity, noting it was already being phased out before that event. The episode rounds out with Jeff's Racing Calendar highlighting upcoming motorsport events, Mars's automotive history segment covering everything from the first US steam-powered carriage to NASA's founding and its impact on automotive technology, and current industry news including tariff changes, Tesla's planned chauffeur service, and record-high average car payments. Whether you're a Ford enthusiast or simply appreciate automotive heritage, this episode offers a rich exploration of how iconic vehicles shape our cultural landscape.Have you checked out the 60th anniversary Bronco on Ford's website yet? In this week's episode of America on the Road, Jack Nerad and Chris Teague hit the road with two distinctly different 2025 vehicles in the spotlight: the family-focused Toyota Grand Highlander Nightshade Hybrid and the ruggedly compact Ford Bronco Sport. Plus, they welcome Electrify Expo founder BJ Birtwell for an eye-opening discussion on the state of EVs and where the industry is headed next. ROAD TEST: 2025 Toyota Grand Highlander Nightshade Hybrid Host Jack Nerad took the 2025 Grand Highlander Nightshade Hybrid on a summer family road trip through Texas, and it proved to be an ideal companion. With blacked-out trim, 20-inch wheels, and Toyota's reliable 2.5L hybrid powertrain, the Nightshade edition adds style without compromising efficiency, returning 34 mpg combined. Inside, it's all about family comfort, offering seating for up to eight, dual 12.3-inch screens, a panoramic glass roof, and seven USB-C ports to keep everyone connected. It's also loaded with standard driver-assist tech like adaptive cruise control, lane keeping, and a panoramic view monitor. All in, the test vehicle hit just over $58,000—well-equipped and ready for real-world family duty. How did the extended Nerad family take to the Grand Highlander? We'll have their reactions coming up. ROAD TEST: 2025 Ford Bronco Sport Meanwhile, C-Host Chris Teague went behind the wheel of the 2025 Ford Bronco Sport, a vehicle that continues to carve out a niche for itself in the ever-more-crowded small SUV market. Compact yet adventure-ready, the Bronco Sport blends its retro-modern styling with real off-road capability, thanks to standard all-wheel drive and selectable GOAT (Goes Over Any Terrain) modes. Though smaller than the full-size Bronco, it delivers big on personality and practicality. Inside, it's smartly packaged, with fold-flat rear seats, rubberized cargo floors, and Ford's latest Sync 4 infotainment system. Whether you're tackling trails or urban sprawl, Chris and Jack will offer their take on the Bronco Sport and its place in the compact SUV class. SPECIAL GUEST: BJ Birtwell, Electrify Expo Founder BJ Birtwell, the founder of Electrify Expo, joins Jack and Chris to talk candidly about the state of electric vehicles in an increasingly skeptical market. From consumer hesitation to political roadblocks, Birtwell shares his unique view on where the EV transition is headed and why he believes the public conversation needs to shift. Jill and Tom opened the show noting that of all the car brands affected by the trade tariffs, Buick and Volvo are in a particularly tough spot. Listen in to hear why. Tom made note of all the EV fast charging news of late, and suggests that listeners not get too excited by the hype. Per Tom, the nation's current electric grid will not be easily tapped for additional power, regardless of how quickly a vehicle is capable of being charged. Still in the first segment, the hosts discussed the newly introduced Kia K4 Hatchback, which Jill insists is a wagon. Jill reviewed the off-road Sasquatch package, newly available for certain Ford Bronco Sport trim levels. Listen in for Jill's take on the new equipment group. In the second segment, the hosts welcome Chris Martin, Technology Communications Manager for Honda, to the show. Chris updated listeners on Honda's plans for hands-free driving, and made clear the important differences between level-2 and level-3 autonomous driving. Expect to see advanced hands-free systems first on Honda's new "O Series" (Zero Series) electric cars due in showrooms soon. In the last segment, Jill is subjected to Tom's "Buick versus Chrysler" quiz. The hosts wrapped up the show taking note of plunging Tesla resale values. Listen in for the list. Shoot us a Text.Episode #1008: Cars Commerce drops a no-nonsense playbook for dealers while Ford rolls out employee pricing for all as tariffs loom large. Meanwhile, Tesla's Q1 delivery miss raises red flags far beyond a Model Y changeover. Show Notes with links:In a sweeping trade policy shift, Donald Trump announced a baseline 10% tariff on all imports; plus an additional 10–50% "reciprocal" tariff targets 60 nations with major U.S. trade deficits.Auto imports already under last week's 25% tariff won't face increases and Mexico and Canada are exempt—if goods comply with the 2020 USMCA terms.Brian Kramer of Cars Commerce released a Tariff Playbook to help dealers navigate the changes. Here's some of the highlights:Consumers are rushing to buy and scrutinizing where vehicles are built—use the Cars.com American-Made Index to guide inventory and messaging.EVs could see a short-term slump; hybrids and full-size trucks may surge. Align your lot accordingly.Six actionable strategies: reduce auction dependency, boost service-lane sourcing, go data-driven, ditch 45-day-old metrics, market American-made units, and build an offense-focused plan.“You won't lose profit because the market adjusted. You will lose profit because your process didn't,”Ford is throwing open the gates to its employee discount program, offering deep savings to all customers through June 2 as a preemptive strike against rising costs from newly announced import tariffs. The “From America, For America” campaign unlocks A Plan pricing—typically below dealer invoice—on most Ford and Lincoln models, with high-performance Raptors, new Expeditions, Super Duty trucks, and Lincoln Navigators being excluded.Discounts stack with other deals, including extended free EV charger installation now running through June 30.The announcement came just hours after President Trump enacted 25% tariffs on imported vehicles, which could significantly increase consumer prices.Ford's imported models include the Maverick, Bronco Sport, Mustang Mach-E (from Mexico), and Lincoln Nautilus (from China). “It's a way to give back to the communities that have supported us for generations,” said Rob Kaffl, Ford's U.S. sales director, adding the move brings “certainty to an uncertain situation.”Tesla's Q1 2025 delivery numbers are in—and they've landed with a thud. The EV giant delivered 336,681 vehicles, missing expectations by up to 55,000 units and raising tough questions about demand.Deliveries fell 13% year-over-year and a sharp 32% from Q4 2024.Tesla cited Model Y factory changeovers as a factor, but analysts see deeper demand issues—especially in the U.S.Model 3 sales in Europe dropped 30% in early 2025, despite not facing supply issues.“The ramp of the New Model Y contiJoin hosts Paul J Daly and Kyle Mountsier as they connect the dots across car dealerships, retail trends, emerging tech like AI, and cultural shifts—bringing clarity, speed, and people-first insight to automotive leaders navigating a rapidly changing industry.Get the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/

Shoot us a Text.Welcome to the first week of February, and welcome to guest host Steve Greenfield of Automotive Ventures. Today, we're discussing all the ramifications that President Trump's latest round of tariffs will have on the automotive industry. Plus, we cover Tesla's plans to move more Cybertrucks and why the cost of Super Bowl ads is rising.A fresh round of tariffs signed by President Trump is sending shockwaves through the North American auto industry. With 25% duties on vehicles and parts from Canada and Mexico, and a 10% levy on Chinese imports, automakers and suppliers are bracing for rising costs, potential production shutdowns, and fierce retaliation from trade partners. The tariffs are set to go into effect on February 4, and Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum have pledged retaliation, which could further escalate trade tensions.Prices of vehicles could increase by thousands, like the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, and Ram 1500 (built in Mexico), the Toyota RAV4 and Tacoma (built in Canada/Mexico) and the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Bronco Sport, and Maverick (built in Mexico)John Bozzella, President for the Alliance for Automotive Innovation: “We support efforts to strengthen the U.S. auto industry, but across-the-board tariffs on Canada and Mexico will only increase costs, disrupt supply chains, and put jobs at risk. We want to work on solutions that achieve the president's goals and preserve a healthy, competitive auto industry in America.”Tesla's Cybertruck sales are falling flat, forcing the company to roll out heavy incentives—including free $6,000 wraps and new leasing options. With demand far below expectations, questions are mounting about whether the Cybertruck is turning into Tesla's first major flop.Tesla launched Cybertruck leases in the U.S., starting at $750/month, a move typically reserved for vehicles with slowing demand.Buyers of Foundation Series Cybertrucks now get a free wrap worth $6,000 as Tesla struggles to clear inventory.Sales have been underwhelming—despite 1M+ reservations, Tesla has sold fewer than 40,000 units, with some analysts estimating that number may drop to 30K in 2025, far below its planned 250K annual capacity. With Super Bowl LIX just around the corner, advertisers are shelling out a record $8 million per 30-second spot. Some big names are sitting this one out—including most automakers—while AI, snacks, and tech brands dominate the lineup. At least 10 commercials have sold for $8M each, up $500K from last year—the biggest price hike in recent Super Bowl history.120M+ viewers expected on Fox and Tubi, making it the biggest stage for advertisers.Traditional big players like Anheuser-Busch, PepsiCo, Frito-Lay, Taco Bell, and Uber Eats are all in, but the only OEMs to appear will be Stellantis' Jeep and RamAI-focused ads and pharmaceutical brands are on the rise, while movie trailers and streaming services areHosts: Paul J Daly and Kyle MountsierGet the Daily Push Back email at https://www.asotu.com/ JOIN the conversation on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/company/asotu/ Read our most recent email at: https://www.asotu.com/media/push-back-email

Co-Host Chris Teague was confronted with a very difficult task in our lead road test this week. His job was to pilot the 2024 Nissan Z NISMO around the twists and turns of Maine's backroads. Sure, it was a tough assignment, but, as has so often been said, someone had to do it. The 2024 Nissan Z NISMO enhances the iconic sports car with track-ready performance, featuring a 420-horsepower twin-turbo engine, upgraded suspension, and revised aerodynamics. How did Teague enjoy the experience? Did he apply for hazardous-duty pay? He'll have more in his full 6-foot-tall report. When Ford introduced the Bronco Sport small SUV, its executives weren't certain that its buyers were ready for heavy-duty off-road ability. But several years into the program, they are more than ready to believe it. Why? Because their customers asked them for it. As a result, the 2025 Bronco Sport can be equipped with its own Sasquatch package, which mimics the full-on off-road gear available on the full-size Bronco. While that's good news, the even better news is that Host Jack Nerad got a chance to drive a 2025 Bronco Sport with the Sasquatch package on some very challenging terrain in Eastern Tennessee. That's the site of Ford's latest Bronco Off-Roadeo adventure playground. As part of a small group of auto journalists, he got behind the wheel of the 2025 Bronco Sport Sasquatch to see if it could stand up to the rigors of some tough, rock-strewn, water-soaked trails. He'll share his findings in this episode. This week our special guest is Andre Ravinowich, Hyundai's Senior Manager of Product Planning. Jack Nerad spoke with him at length about the exciting changes to the 2025 Hyundai Tucson, one of the brand's most important vehicles, at a recent event in Los Olivos, California. We think you'll enjoy hearing what he has to say. In the news this week, J.D. Power has lowered its electric vehicle sales forecast for this year and next. We'll have the details on what's going on and why EVs aren't selling as well as many so-called experts expected. In a related story, a major global automaker has just abandoned its pledge to be all-electric in 2030. We'll tell you the brand, what they just announced and offer our comments. On a happier note, an important Japanese brand is vowing to increase its North American presence with an onslaught of new vehicles. We'll have the details on that coming up. And there was sadness in the Nerad household as we said goodbye to a vehicle that served our family well for 25 years. We'll have a few words about Clifford coming up in this episode of America on the Road. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com

The 2025 Ford Bronco Sport has received a significant upgrade with the introduction of the Sasquatch off-road package. Host Jack Nerad drove it just days ago and then discussed the vehicle's nuances with Bronco Sport Brand Manager Mike Weller at a special event outside Knoxville, Tennessee. We'll share that interview with you on America on the Road this week. As off-road fans know, the serious all-terrain Sasquatch package was previously exclusive to the larger Bronco, but Ford is now making it available for the Bronco Sport Badlands and Outer Banks models. It significantly enhances the vehicle's off-road capabilities with features like a twin-clutch rear-drive unit, locking rear differential, and large 29-inch Goodyear Territory All-Terrain tires, giving the likable crossover much greater off-pavement capabilities. The Bronco Sport's Sasquatch package exterior features modular steel bumpers, additional underbody protection, and revised wheel designs. Interior enhancements include an available grab handle and auxiliary switches. As Weller detailed in the exclusive interview, these updates make the Bronco Sport a more versatile small SUV that caters to outdoor enthusiasts seeking both capability and modern technology. And he'll share much more. In the news this week, Tesla Motors is returning to an old marketing scheme by offering cash for referrals. It could save you a substantial amount if you plan to buy an EV soon, and we'll have the details. There's crankiness in Detroit, as a union leader suggests that the CEO of a global automaker should resign in a dispute over the reopening of a factory. We'll tell the who's and why's on that one and what the future of the automaker might hold. The agonizingly slow rollout of the electric vehicle charging network is getting a lot of people hot under the collar. Now the federal government is poised to spend more than $500 million in that effort, and we'll tell you if it could mean you'll finally get some DC fast chargers at a convenient location near you. On a happier note, Hagerty is getting ready to display some full-size versions of classic Hot Wheels vehicles on the National Mall in Washington, DC. We'll tell you when that will happen and share some Hot Wheels stories, too. In our road tests this week, Co-Host Chris Teague got a very early chance to drive Infiniti's all-new full-size 2025 QX80. Does it have the goods to play in the big leagues of full-size luxury SUVs like the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator and Grand Wagoneer? Teague will share his opinion. Across the country, Jack Nerad spent the past week testing the enhanced Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S, a very appealing revamp of the battery-electric-powered U.S.-built compact crossover SUV. Delivering more miles on a charge, the Pro S version of the vehicle might be the best combination of range, performance, charging ability and value VW has ever offered. Nerad will have all the details coming up. In all, we have a ton of show this week. Thanks for joining us. America on the Road is brought to you by Driving Today.com, Mercury Insurance, and EMLandsea.com , the publisher of Nerad's latest book, Dance in the Dark, which is available HERE on Amazon.com

What's good Unnamed Automotive Podcast listeners? We'll tell you what isn't: the two vehicles the guys are talking about this week. First up is the 2023 Toyota Sequoia, which Benjamin points out has some highs and lows, but mostly lows with a vehicle with a limited audience, even though it's been thoroughly redesigned. Packing three rows and a hybrid powertrain, the Sequoia has a small audience, and one that doesn't seem to be growing in any significant way, but wait till you hear Ben's description of the ride, cargo space and pricing which is the SUV's death toll. Then Sami brings up the 2023 Ford Escape PHEV, which was recently refreshed with a new look and cabin, but has been overshadowed by the Bronco Sport. Is Ford giving up on its hybrid crossover? Based on Sami's experience, there are a few fatal flaws to the new Escape, and ones that are making it a hard sell compared to its rivals. Finishing up this weeks podcast is a discussion of annoying audio systems, thanks to dedicated listeners who send us comments and questions! Thanks everyone for listening!
The 2023 Ford Escape Is a Tale of Two Crossovers Ford's Escape gets a refresh for '23, but it has tough competition across the room. Ford's Escape helped it capitalize on the growing interest in smaller ‘utes when it launched in the early 2000s. Ford's Escape has been a staple of its lineup for over 20 years and entered its fourth generation just a scant four years ago for the 2020 model year. Despite being relatively new, Ford took the Escape back to the drawing board for '23 and gave it a styling update. This update gives the Escape a new front fascia, which gives the car more attitude. The '23 Escape still rides on Ford's C2 platform, which also underpins the Escape's cross-dealership rival: the Bronco Sport. Powering the Escape is either a turbocharged 1.5-liter, a turbocharged 2.0-liter, or a 2.5-liter engine that works with a traditional hybrid or plug-in hybrid system. On this episode of Quick Spin, host Wesley Wren hops behind the wheel of the 2023 Ford Escape and puts it through its paces. Wren takes you on a guided tour of the updated Escape and highlights some of his favorite features. Later, Wren takes you along for a live drive review of this updated escape. Joining the show, Patrick Carone chats with Wren about the Ford Escape and where it sits in the market, and where it sits in Ford's portfolio. The pair talk about how Ford splits the difference between the Bronco Sport and its platform-mate Escape. Closing the show, the pair breakdown what makes the Escape special.

House of WILDERNESS, TRD, TRAIL RATED and WILDTRAK your off-road romping days are numbered, as Benjamin and Sami arrive this week to talk about the new 2022 Ford Bronco Sport, a rugged alternative to the Ford Escape and a competitor to many other compact crossovers on the market. Outfitted with a turbocharged three-cylinder, Sami talks about how it handles the rigours of everyday driving, and the various pros and cons of pretending to go off-road. Then Benjamin chimes in about cruising around in the electrified 2022 BMW iX xDrive50. Ben admits he has a fondness for the car's massive grille, and expresses his appreciation for electric vehicles that don't feel janky or like science experiments. After hearing Mr. Hunting fawn over various aspects of the iX, while simultaneously criticizing its scale-busting curb weight, consider heading over to unnamedautomotivepodcast.com to subscribe, contact us or check out past episodes!
We have been told to be a professional in our business or life but what does that look like? How do we become professional? How do we address our weaknesses? These are really tough questions that everyone has to answer not only as a business owner but as employees as well. Nick and Marshall discuss their ideas and the things they have had to overcome to continue in business. We also discuss the bronco sport as Marshall worked on one last week and got to spend some time with it. It is really fun to get to see all these new cars roll out but how do they look and feel? Thank you for listening to todays episode and as always for being a part of our auto detailing community!
The first journalists have driven production versions of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning, and we at “America on the Road” were among them. Not only is the F-150 Lightning a remarkable vehicle that is fast, stable, and eerily silent, but it also has superpowers that have very little to do with driving. How about the ability to power your house for days if a thunderstorm knocks out your electricity? How about the ability to recharge other electric vehicles? How about the ability to weigh its own cargo? In our extensive highway driving, we tested Blue Cruise, Ford's hands-free driving system that turns the Lightning into a semi-autonomous vehicle. And we had the chance to sample the electric pickup's incredible acceleration. More speed is a flash away every time you push the go-pedal. We also had the chance to put the Ford F-150 Lightning through its paces on a difficult off-road course. It immediately became apparent that the Lightning's massive instant torque teamed with its sophisticated all-wheel-drive system can make short work of even the most challenging terrain. Worried about the Lightning's towing ability? We have you covered there as Jack Nerad took to the highway with a 5,000-pound horse trailer hooked up behind. Our interview subject this week is something we all have to be concerned with — car insurance. Justin Yoshizawa, the Director of Product Management at Mercury Insurance, sits down with Host Jack Nerad to tell us about MercuryGo, new usage-based insurance that is as simple as installing an app on your smartphone. MercuryGo takes care of the rest, saving you money every time you drive. The details on MercuryGo will probably convince you it is a no-brainer. In the road test segment, in addition to Jack Nerad's test of the 2022 Ford F-150 Lightning, Co-Host Chris Teague puts the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport through its paces. He tells us if the Bronco Sport's three-cylinder engine is up to the task. And he gives us his opinion on whether the smaller of the two Broncos is worthy of that legendary name. In the news, we'll tell you which major car manufacturer is on the verge of losing its ability to offer federal tax credits on its EV and plug-in hybrid vehicles. And we will offer five commonsense tips for saving gas. That's all this week on “America on The Road.”
On a special episode of “In the Room w/ Todd Marksberry”, this week's is guest is a little different than normal…they're a Canvas member! Tune in and meet Erin Selvey, the lucky member who won a brand-new 2022 Bronco Sport after participating in a giveaway contest for new members in the Castle Rock community.
