Abstract: Background: The neural underpinnings of bipolar disorder (BD) remain poorly understood. The cerebellum is ideally positioned to modulate emotional regulation circuitry yet has been understudied in BD. Previous studies have suggested differences in cerebellar activity and metabolism in BD, however findings on cerebellar structural differences remain contradictory. Methods: We collected 3T anatomical MRI scans from participants with (N = 131) and without (N = 81) BD type I. Differences in cerebellar volumes were assessed along with factors that influence the results. Results: The cerebellar cortex was smaller bilaterally in participants with BD. Polygenic propensity score (bipolar N = 103, control N = 64) did not predict any cerebellar volumes, suggesting that non-genetic factors may have greater influence on the cerebellar volume difference we observed in BD. Cerebellar white matter volumes increased with more adverse childhood events, but we did not observe any associations with parental psychiatric illness. We also evaluated time from onset and symptom burden and found no associations with cerebellar volumes, suggesting neurodevelopment may differ prior to onset. Finally, we found taking sedatives was associated with larger cerebellar white matter and non-significantly larger cortical volume. Limitations: This study was cross-sectional, limiting interpretation of possible mechanisms. Most of our participants were White, which could limit the generalizability. Additionally, we did not account for potential polypharmacy interactions. Conclusions: These findings suggest that external influences, such as medications, may influence cerebellum structure in BD and may mask underlying differences. The results rival every roller coaster you've ever ridden. Progressives pick up a few seats, but also lose some. This time, they aligned with big money from AIPAC and a shady dark money PAC (that many allege is affiliated with Speaker wanna be Hakim Jefferies), and they defeated Newman in her primary with another incumbent, the more centrist Sean Casten. But now, there's a new development in the story.... Casten returned the money from AIPAC -- after accepting their help to defeat Marie Newman, he's now dissing them? We'll try to get to the bottom of it all today on the show with Marie Newman and Howie Klein...

Nee, Papas oder gar Muttis sind wir nicht geworden, aber Echtlebenstress, biografische Re-Organisation, Weltkriese all dit kostet Zeit - Sie kennen das ja. Es is wie immer, der Wein wird entkorkt und der Faden verloren bzw. der argumantative Hauptpfad verlassen, um ein wenig im Nebengestrüpp ein bissl rumzuschnuppern. Also alles beim alten. Pegel halten / Regeln spalten. Diesmal wars fast schooooooon erschreckend harmonisch. Wir liessen uns sogar aussprechen - zumindest meistens. Yap - zum Cast: Wir sprachen über viel über Serien, "Youtubestars" streitsüchtige Kinder, die andere Kinder erschlagen und deren Mutti Eva heisst und dies / das. Wir reflektieren auch ein bissl über die Spätlese. Also Metasäuferlatein. Ach, hört doch einfach zu. Schlussstriche werden gezogen, manchmal auch hingezogen und was Gregor so notierte, erfahrt ihr erst zu Ende des Casts. Spannungsaufbau. Ihr kennt dit. Is wie bei der Anmoderation - manchmal klappts. Diese Woche war nichts los. Das vorweg. Das Sommerloch scheint sich auch über dem Herbst auszubreiten und daher fällt die Medien-Nachlese der letzten sieben Tage nicht ganz so spektakulär aus. Visionär gibt sich Herr Körber und informiert über drei neue Pilotsendungen, die vielleicht nie den Weg ins Fernsehen finden werden. Darunter u.a. die Neuauflage der ARD-Vorabend-Kultshow „Herzblatt“, pilotiert mit Moderator Daniel Hartwich. Obgleich kein hundertprozentiges Medien-KuH-Thema, findet auch die Festnahme von Roman Polanski Platz in der Sendung. Die Herren Körber und Hammes widmen dem Thema einige Minuten, bevor sie dann einen Blick auf die Kino-Charts werfen und den nächsten Film für Körbers Filmschule auswürfeln. Völlig vom Sendekonzept abweichend, casten die Medien-KüHe in dieser Ausgabe eine potenzielle neue Co-Moderatorin. Frau Engels, die unbedingt KuH-Teil werden möchte, kann als Referenz zunächst ihren derzeitigen Wohnort, nämlich die Medienmetropole Köln vorweisen. Ob auch das nötige Hintergrundwissen rund um Film, Funk und Fernsehen vorhanden ist, wollen Körber und Hammes testen und sind natürlich auch auf die Meinung der KuH-Hörer angewiesen.
