In this episode of the Voiceover Gurus podcast, Linda welcomes Christy Harst, a seasoned voice talent passionate about sports promo. Christy shares her inspiring journey and sometimes struggle of breaking barriers in the male-dominated world of sports voiceover. Christy introduces us to her groundbreaking initiative, "Building Doors," a campaign she launched to create opportunities for women in male-centric voiceover genres. Discover how this movement is opening doors for female talents by advocating for equity and diversity in the industry, and learn about the success stories that have emerged from this empowering campaign. Join us as Christy delves into the significance of women supporting women, the impact of social media in advancing careers, and how her campaign is helping to reshape the voiceover landscape. About Christy Harst: My voice over journey started in college when I applied for a news internship at a local classical radio station. During the interview the station manager told me I had a good voice, escorted me to the studio, asked me to read the Star Spangled Banner into a microphone, and pressed record. After I was done he played it back and said, “You'd do well in voice overs.” I didn't even know what a voice over was, let alone how to get into the business. At the end of the internship, he gave me my first voice over job – a tag line for a commercial. My parents drove an hour to get in range to hear it on their car radio. More than two decades later and one home studio, I have lent my voice to clients like Delta Faucets, Sherwin Williams, Bank of America, and PNC Bank. I truly enjoy what I do and it shows in my work. Television commercials are lots of fun, but so are medical training programs, on-hold messages about deicers, and narrating the proud history of a church. https://www.christyharst.com/ FOR MORE INFO ON THE SHOW AND THE GURUS, PLEASE VISIT: Coaching Website: https://voiceover.guru/ and https://learnwiththegurus.com/ Join our Circle Community: https://the-voiceover-gurus.circle.so/home Linda Bruno Voice Actress https://www.lindabruno.com Alyssa Jayson Actress and Musician http://www.alyssajayson.com Kevin Kilpatrick Voice Actor https://kevinkilpatrick.com/

So she attended North Central College and filled many roles at 89.1 WONC. She then went to work at a small production company where she eventually joined the talent roster, and began voicing spots for her husband's radio station on the side. In 2012 Barb joined the casting sites and started pursuing voice over in earnest. In 2016 Barb left that full time job and began working in voice over 100%. Now she finds a somewhat surprising home in eLearning and corporate narration voice over. Barb has coached with everyone from our very own Linda Bruno & Alyssa Jayson, to David Rosenthal and Mary Lynn Wissner. In 2023 she was honored to be a SOVAS nominee in the category of eLearning. Visit: BarbLyon.com About Gwen Poynor: Gwen's voice is approachable, elegant, rich, and inviting. Having been cast in TV, radio, and print ads at a young age, she loved being behind the mic and in front of a camera and teleprompter. After a decade in marketing at a Hospital and as a Recruiter, she raised her family and then decided to get back into VO and on-camera work in 2021. She's voiced medical, corporate and industrial videos; announced Award Winners (and more!) at Events, Fundraisers and Conferences and voiced local and regional ads on TV, Radio and TikTok. Ep 142 – Canadian Voice Actor Paul Milando Is the voiceover business different north of the US? Our guest this week is a Toronto-based talent who began performing on camera before transitioning solely to voiceover for the past seven years. Paul Milando shares his experiences so far with agents and auditions and how he balances a seasonal job as well. About Paul Milando: First of all, I would like to thank the Academy…. Film, television, radio, public speaking, and playing “dress-up” have been passions of mine since childhood. From voicing cartoon characters, to having fun with Halloween costumes, to being the joker at family get-togethers; this has always been a part of my life. At University, I hosted a couple of radio shows and a good friend of mine suggested that once I moved back to Toronto, to find an agent and do some of this stuff as a “cultural release.” I shifted my focus from “in front of the camera”, to “in front of the mic” and I couldn't be happier in my accomplishments in VO. My engaging and warm speaking style is a favourite with television broadcast and film producers seeking a sincere, educated and friendly voiceover artist and narrator. Clear enunciation and articulation, in a pleasant baritone speaking voice, is present from commercial and corporate scripts to character voices and Audiobooks, and is fundamental to my interpretation of professional scripts. My professional home recording studio allows for timely and efficient narrations. Shutter Circle's main core value will always be community over competition. When the team started out there was a lot of gatekeeping in the industry, and they wanted to be that change. There are so many wedding photography/videography workshops out there, but seem to only target established businesses. Shutter Circle wanted to close that gap, to help share their knowledge with beginners trying to get into the industry. Seasoned wedding photographers - Nik, Luke & Kieran have 25+ years of combined experience under their belts, and want to provide a community of like-minded peers where asking questions is actively encouraged and providing a support network in an otherwise lonely industry. In August 2023, the Shutter Circle team set up a facebook group that has now grown to over 1500 active members. In that group people feel safe to ask questions, and utilise the free resources and helpful tips that they share. Shutter Circle quickly identified the pain points within the industry and wanted to help other photographers and videographers connect and share work with each other. Through the use of their new second shooter portal (launching Spring 2024!) users will be able to filter search criteria to find the perfect second shooters for their upcoming weddings, and apply for jobs. The portal will remove the overwhelming process of looking for second shooters on Facebook, and trawling through the comments of people who may not necessarily fit the style or brand that you're after. Users will be able to make their own profile, list their equipment, price and shooting style. There will also be a review system in place for both parties - meaning seconds can review the main photographer for things like; Did they pay on time? Did they return SD cards?

Dr. Britt Wray is a science communicator and the author of two books. Her latest is Generation Dread: Finding Purpose in an Age of Climate Anxiety, which is a national bestseller. Dr. Wray is also the director of CIRCLE (Community-minded Interventions for Resilience, Climate Leadership, and Emotional wellbeing) at Stanford Psychiatry, a research and action initiative in the Stanford School of Medicine. Her first book, the Rise of the Necrofauna: The Science, Ethics, and Risks of De-Extinction was named a best book of 2017 by the New Yorker. She most recently is a top award winner of the Eric and Wendy Schmidt Awards for Excellence in Science Communications, which was bestowed upon her by the National Academies in partnership with Schmidt Futures.Climate change evokes a myriad of emotions unique to each individual. It can stir outrage in some, sadness in others, a sense of helplessness for some, and dread for the future in others. There is no universally right or wrong reaction, as our responses are shaped by our distinct relationships with the world and the diverse circumstances in which we live. The perception of climate change varies; for some, it may feel abstract, while for others, the impacts are undeniably profound and far-reaching.But as Dr. Wray points out, we know that climate change as we are experiencing it is anthropogenic, meaning it's the result of human behavior. And yet so little has been studied about the human behavioral response to climate change. How do we individually and collectively feel about climate change, and what do those feelings drive us to do? This is the sweet spot of Britt's work.In this episode, we cover: An overview of Dr. Wray's research on climate distressHer work as the Director of CIRCLE (Community-minded Interventions for Resilience, Climate Leadership, and Emotional Wellbeing) at Stanford PsychiatryAn overview of climate anxiety and its impact on peopleThe concept of solastalgia and broken record, record breakingThe importance of community and social connections in addressing climate anxietyThe need for evaluation and evidence-based interventions for climate anxietyIncluding behavioralists and psychologists when addressing climate changeThe potential role of guilt in motivating action on climate changeThe impact of climate change on reproductive decisions and parentingDr. Wray's book and newsletterThe importance of open and vulnerable conversations about climate changeEpisode recorded on Jan 29, 2024 (Published on Feb 26, 2024) Get connected with MCJ: Jason Jacobs X / LinkedInCody Simms X / LinkedInMCJ Podcast / Collective / YouTube*If you liked this episode, please consider giving us a review! Episode 210-Surrender Bad Habits As humans we want to be in charge of what we want. We want others to listen to us. We don't want anyone telling us what to do. We don't want to give up what we think we have to have in order to endure this life and all its temptations, desires, wants, needs and must haves. We want stuff and we don't want the trials, tests, and troubles. We think we know what we need but if we get what we want, we don't have what we really need. Our desires have become our needs. Everybody else has a big house. I need a big house. Everyone else has a new car. I need a new car. Everybody else eats sugar. I need to eat sugar because I like sugar and I want sugar and I have to have it. The same is true with anything that we think we have to have. Those things become addictions. That means we feel like we can do without them. What we think we have to have will end up controlling us to the point that even if we want to give it up, we can't. The interesting thing to me is we know we need God, but we think He will give us what we want even though we know it's not what He wants for us. The bottom line is we don't really have a strong enough desire for God. We don't listen to what He is saying to us and even if we do, we refuse to give up our desires. Our wants rank higher than God. Then we wonder why He's not answering our prayers. In this episode, we talk about surrendering our bad habits to God. Overcomer's Academy is changing! Lucy spent a year coaching with me 1:1 and also had access to my Circle ⭕️ Community. Here she speaks about how she went from chronic fear-based thinking which prevented her from often going out of the house, or driving on motorways, to a life with so much more ease, less heavy thinking, and more freedom. She is a gorgeous soul, and I hope you enjoy this conversation. Lucy's testimonial from our work together, "I have just finished a year of working with Charli and it's one of the best things I have ever done. Charli was able to hold space for me in a way that I had never experienced before. She has helped me to understand myself on a much deeper level and unpick so many limiting beliefs. A year ago I was very lost & anxiety controlled every aspect of my life, fast forward to now and I am so much more able to zoom out and witness those thoughts rather than attach myself to them. It's been such a fascinating and eye-opening experience and i have finished my 121 coaching with more love & compassion for myself than I have ever allowed myself to have. I can't recommend working with Charli enough. The work she is doing is truly amazing ♥️

This live episode of #couragedearheart is brought to you by myself interviewing the rather brilliant Jacquie Moses whom I first met whilst working with Elizabeth Lovius coaching corporate clients. I was instantly taken by her gentle and kind presence. She has been a guest for my Circle Community last year too. This year she agreed to be my podcast guest, and then come again into my circle community for live guest coaching, acquiring her the nickname: 'The September Goddess' My Circle Community: Jacquie has extensive experience in designing and facilitating programs for business, education, back to work, and the criminal justice system. She coaches and mentors people to achieve deeper levels of well-being, resilience, and results. Jacquie is a regular speaker on well-being at International Conferences. With 20+ years of experience, working with over 3000+ people; Jacquie has worked in a variety of diverse settings; with executives, entrepreneurs, leaders, managers, young people, charities, schools, prisons, and the community sector. In her quest to do work that is truly transformational, Jacquie has been one of the first to train and mentor many pioneers in the 3 Principles field; Coach-U's inaugural program, Landmark Education, Dr. Aaron Turner, Linda Pransky and Dicken Bettinger Ed.D. She was a lead facilitator in a UK prison, where she facilitated weekly well-being groups, one to one sessions, and trained prisoners as peer facilitators. The results of this program led to individuals having life-changing insights that have created sustainable change in the way they think, behave, and handle their addictions and prison life. Published academic research from her extensive work in the criminal justice system, showed: • significant increases in well-being and positive outlook on life • significant reduction in self-harm, conflict, violence, challenging behavior, and re-offending I hope you will join me for what will be a BRILLIANT conversation. This was an example of an Ask Me Anything session that I do in my Circle Community which was live-streamed into my free Facebook Community, The Freedom Group The ladies sent their questions to me, and during this free session, I got time to answer 3 of the questions that came in, which you can see below. PLEASE JOIN MY CIRCLE OF WOMEN HERE Kelley: "How do you stop worrying about everyone else so much and focus more on yourself? How do you learn to love yourself? (is that in the freedom programme that I need to revisit?) xx" Magda: What is ‘The Three Principles' take on motivation, specifically around exercise? How come sometimes it lasts long (months) and then it's not there at all Thank you, Charli x" Anon - "I was hoping for some words of support and advice this morning - I am peri-menopausal (currently in winter and not yet on HRT) and today I have been struggling with red mist so much. I feel tired, emotional and angry and really do not want to parent right now (in that I can't seem to cope with parenting on a daily basis). I am trying to allow the feelings and not judge, even when I take it out on the children. I circled back and apologised and used it as a teaching and learning moment for us all but I just feel tired of it all and really need some advice about how to navigate it when my hormones are playing havoc." I only got time for these 3 questions during this session, but as you all know I always answer a question of the week, so please feel free to send them to me at charliwall@iamcharliewall.com if you would like me to speak to something, OR join my Circle Community where you will get access to much more of me in this kind of format. This episode was recorded live in my free Facebook community 'She finds freedom from habits, self-loathing & anxiety' and is with the very beautiful Anya Broughton who was a client of mine last year, and also a member of my Circle Community. Anya's journey was from chronic anxiety, body image issues & stress-related skin disorders - to finding her roots, wings & freedom from her anxious experience. I hope you enjoy this episode.

About Dave Lorenzo's Inner Circle Business Development Communityhttp://JoinDaveLorenzo.com There are professionals in your community, in your profession, making a great living and living and great life. These SUCCESSFUL PROFESSIONALS have a few well-guarded secrets and they only share them with people in their natural network. In the past, the only way to access these business growth strategies was to GET INSIDE the network of one of these RAINMAKERS, be connected to the people they know, and discover their secret strategies for business growth.UNTIL NOW!My name is Dave Lorenzo and I have helped professionals build businesses since 1999.In 2008 I formed a consulting firm that worked exclusively with attorneys and in 2015 I expanded that work to include other consultants and professionals. These days my private coaching clients pay upwards of $50,000 to work with me in a one-on-one setting. As you can imagine, that practice is limited because there is only one of me. I currently have a waiting list.Late last year a group of professionals came to my office with some difficult issues. They knew they could be making more money and they knew there must be an easier way to attract clients. In researching and writing three books for professionals during the past decade, I had developed some great relationships and powerful systems. Both of these proved to be valuable. So here's what I've done:Early in 2020, I developed a community to help attorneys and other professionals grow their book of business.Your membership investment is only $3,550 per year. This is easily recouped through the acquisition of one new matter. I'm confident, we can help you grow your firm.Membership in this group is limited.I cannot accept everyone. I only want smart practitioners with generous hearts and minds. You must be willing to invest your time and attention in this group in order to receive the most benefit.Visit: http://joindavelorenzo.com/ for more information or to apply.
