Send us a textJustification by faith stands as the cornerstone of Christian doctrine, yet throughout history, believers have struggled with the temptation to add works to grace. This powerful exposition of Galatians reveals why any admixture of legality fundamentally corrupts the gospel message. The apostle Paul confronted the Galatian believers who had been deceived by Judaizers into thinking they could embrace justification by faith while still requiring circumcision. This critical error reflects humanity's innate tendency to want law integrated with grace—a combination that, once mixed, is no longer grace at all. Through careful examination of Paul's arguments, we discover why this matters so profoundly for our understanding of salvation. Many misunderstand God's fairness, believing that election somehow violates divine justice. Yet the truth revealed in Galatians offers a more profound perspective: if God were merely "fair," all humanity would face eternal condemnation. Divine grace operates outside these parameters, not by eliminating justice but by satisfying it through Christ's substitutionary atonement. For believers, Christ bore the wrath they deserved, standing in their place as the perfect sacrifice. This distinction between walking in the Spirit versus remaining under law permeates Paul's message, showing why these two paths cannot be merged. The works of the flesh—whether sensual sins like adultery and fornication or religious sins like idolatry—reveal our desperate need for grace alone. What does this theological understanding mean for your daily walk with Christ? When we truly grasp our natural state of sin and God's magnificent grace, it produces genuine humility and reverence. This fear of the Lord—a profound awe at His holiness and mercy—transforms how we approach both God and others. Have you allowed legalism to creep into your understanding of salvation? Return to the pure gospel of grace and experience the freedom Christ died to give you.The Balance of GrayFaith That Challenges. Conversations that Matter. Laughs included. You know when things look like they're falling apart but they're really falling together? I was super stoked to interview several teacher trainers after the workshop completed in Mallorca, Spain. However, one by one the guests began to reschedule as the intensity of the workshop built. It was a good learning lesson to temper my enthusiasm with grounded intuition to ensure my idea was a 5D win win for all. Literally as I was speaking to one guest who was understandably exhausted and requesting to reschedule, her replacement suggestion to interview literally walked in the room. AND I had just sat beside her at lunch earlier that day! Everything fell into place to feature the extraordinary Sophie Josephine on our Podcast. In this heartfelt delicious intimate conversation, we discussed... How Sophie's body made it super clear she was off her Soul's path by literally shutting down for 2 years in bed after previous attempts to ignore her body's truth led to epileptic seizures. How we resurrect our authentic hunger... hunger not for food but for energetic spiritual nourishment, hunger to be met, supported, opened, pleasured, delighted, surrender. How creating a business even during a global pandemic was and continues to be successful because it was sourced in truth and in alignment with her heart. How the honoring of her body and soul attracted her ideal romantic partner who enjoys providing her authentic hungers, soulful aches and divine desires. How this practice of deeply honoring her truth allows her also to not take things personally if he declines her requests and gives her the confidence to speak up respectfully if his requests feel out of alignment to her. How she navigates the benefits and drawbacks of his disability, how she deeply respects his self-worth and resilience, how she aches to have a family with him. How truly soft, receptive, luscious and open she is, just sitting with her Live in the podcast Studio allowed me to feel the warmth of her heart and the alluring nature of her Sacred pleasure, we could have talked for hours. Lastly how unquestionably certain she is of being held by the Divine, unwavering knowing that the Universe has her back and how that ripples into complete Trust of everything, exactly as it is- wow, just wow. ➡️ Go check out patreon.com/allanapratt for Exclusive content! Jennifer Poland and Darryl Gurney each developed their own unique healing modalities over the years, guided by personal experience and spiritual insight. In 2021, a profound calling from the Divine led them to relocate to a more secluded environment—an intentional retreat to receive sacred wisdom that would deepen and expand their healing work. During this transformative period, Jennifer channeled a spiritually inspired book titled The Way to Peace, released on Amazon in November 2024. Together, they embarked on an inner journey of revelation, confronting ancestral and collective patterns, and transmuting them through personal healing. This inner alchemy awakened a resonance that now flows through their work, supporting not only individual transformation but also the broader wave of global awakening.Jennifer Poland | Darryl Gurney

St. Isaac speaks with the voice of one who has tasted what he teaches. His words carry both severity and sweetness, and at their heart lies a single call: to love God with such singleness that all else is left behind, and to find rest in Him alone. He begins by speaking of reading. For the one who prays, reading is no small companion. Instead of being filled with scattered memories and impressions of the world, the soul, when nourished by Scripture, finds within itself a treasury for prayer. The words of God become recollections that rise up during stillness, offering the mind holy material with which to converse with God. Sometimes these recollections themselves are so sweet, so overwhelming, that they silence the heart entirely and leave the soul motionless before God. Reading thus becomes a doorway into the mysteries of prayer—not as an exercise of intellect alone, but as communion, as a sacrament of remembrance that enlightens the heart. But to enter such prayer, St. Isaac reminds us, requires renunciation. A heart weighted with possessions or concerns is like wet wood that cannot be set aflame. Divine fervor does not ignite in a soul that loves ease. The words are stark, even offensive, but they uncover the truth: we cannot serve two masters. Only the one purified of worldly entanglements will be able to bear witness to the sweetness of God's mysteries, for true knowledge is born only of experience, not of hearsay. Yet this renunciation is not negation alone. It must take flesh in mercy. St. Isaac turns us to almsgiving, the act that draws the heart most near to God. To give freely, without discrimination between worthy and unworthy, without expectation of return, is to love as God Himself loves. Poverty chosen for Christ becomes a higher wealth, freeing the mind for serenity and boldness in prayer. Still, even here he warns us of subtle temptations: one may come to love possessions “for the sake of almsgiving,” and thus re-enter turmoil. Almsgiving is holy, but stillness is higher, for in stillness the soul communes with God directly, free of all care. This is St. Isaac's vision—severe, yes, but radiant: to become all flame with the love of God, to renounce all so that one might rest in Him, and in that rest, to discover the joy of unceasing prayer and the inexhaustible fountain of His mercy. Here, and here alone, the soul finds the rest of love. --- Text of chat during the group: 00:10:46 Bob Čihák, AZ: P. 149, last sentence on page 00:22:51 Diana Cleveland: I have found that is to be really true. We dive once more into the differences between Eastern and Western Christianity. This time, Dr. Jacobs tackles the nature-grace divide. He'll trace how Augustine's anti-Pelagian framework created a nature-grace divide in the Latin West, where human nature is seen as inherently incapable of pleasing God without supernatural assistance. In contrast, the Eastern tradition maintains that humans as icons of God possess a natural connection to divine grace through the image-archetype relationship. The analysis covers how these differing anthropologies lead to distinct understandings of total depravity, synergy, and the relationship between creature and Creator. All the links: Substack: https://nathanajacobs.substack.com/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thenathanjacobspodcastWebsite: https://www.nathanajacobs.com/X: https://x.com/NathanJacobsPodSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/0hSskUtCwDT40uFbqTk3QSApple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-nathan-jacobs-podcastFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/nathanandrewjacobsAcademia: https://vanderbilt.academia.edu/NathanAJacobs00:00:00 Intro00:01:22 Recap & roadmap 00:10:08 The Pelagian controversy00:15:55 Hierarchy of loves00:20:22 Augustine's pursuit of truth00:28:19 Adam & Eve (original sin)00:35:45 The root of total depravity00:40:02 Divine volunteerism00:51:09 Monistic views emerge00:54:40 Medieval "faculty psychology"01:08:22 Imago Dei (Image of God) nuances01:11:30 Divine essence and energies01:23:36 Insights from Plato01:29:50 Man as icon of God01:39:14 Grace in the Christian West01:54:48 The faculty psychology problem02:12:40 Doctrine of the Logoi02:25:40 Idiosyncratic teleology02:30:52 Wrapping up the series
Sept 11, 2025, marks the 24th anniversary of one of America's darkest days. To shed light and understanding about the collective grief and trauma so many faced, we are joined by spiritual teacher and best-selling author Guy Finley. Guy is the Founder of Life of Learning Foundation and the best-selling author of “Letting Go,” “The Secret of Letting Go,” and more than 25 other books. His books have sold millions of copies in multiple languages worldwide. Today he talks about how to look at tragedy and specifically addresses 9/11 and the pain that ensued. He shares how 9/11 changed us and also taught us resilience. He asks us to ask ourselves have we learned the lesson in that pain, both as a nation and as a collection of individuals? And if we have not, then did that event unite us in a new understanding? Or did it divide us further? Whether a national tragedy or a personal situation, how can we learn the lesson of pain? When we come upon a tragedy, it may also divide us further. Guy deeply examines the nature of “blame” and how it is so difficult for us not to blame. Typically, the first reaction to tragedy is to point the finger. After 9/11, our freedoms were affected literally overnight. How can we use these unwanted moments? Do we go into panic? Guy says there is no psychological fear without negative imagination. So commonly, the pain makes us place blame. When we can recognize it, we can realize it serves no purpose to blame. We can liberate ourselves from a mind with a negative imagination. We must change as individuals before we can see change in our world. Guy asks us to consider, “What is your relationship with the Divine?” In the moment when there's a problem or pain, when we resist it, we feel attacked. It's a misunderstanding of the event. So, how do you illuminate the event to come to a new conclusion? Silence can help. Anger, fear, and worry all lead us toward negativity. What we give our attention to is what we are in relationship with. This guides our experience. According to Guy, “The fear is real but the ‘Why' is a ‘Lie.'” Our lower brain creates a response of tension. Guy offers prayers to allow the Divine to let us know the truth. He also teaches free classes online twice a week. Info: GuyFinley.org and GuyFinley.org/online for free classes.
The heart of transition is navigating liminal space. This in-between place offers an entry point into reality, a portal into deeper relationship with oneself and the Divine. We are continually in the process of transition. Each transition is an invitation to awaken to possibility, to consciously go with life rather than resist it. In the Vedic tradition, tirtha is a Sanskrit term for a crossing-over point from ordinary to sacred space. Hospitals, churches, and airports are transitional places. Everything in the universe is food; we just have to figure out how to use it. Savasana, the corpse pose in yoga, can be used to practice dying. We will encounter trials and crises on the path, an inner overturning such that things will never again be what they were. To transform, we must understand that our present form and the way we conceive of ourselves and the world has to disappear for another reality to appear. Winning without losing anything is a vain and illusory hope of ego. There's suffering and struggle but also joy and love in letting go. What if we turned toward transition rather than away from it? We have a capacity to totally agree with the moment. We have to remember to breathe during transitions. If we can relax, we'll have no problem. We can learn to befriend the cage we are in. A gap is a place where the shoreline we have left behind is no longer visible and the shore we are heading for is shrouded in uncertainty. The Way is for heroes. Part of us is afraid, but another part is courageous. There is joy in comradeship and companionship on the path. When we are in transition, it is useful to consider the inevitability of it. Michael Menager is a musician, singer, author, and modern-day troubadour whose third album is titled Line in the Water. Mic Clarke is a writer, practitioner of Vedic astrology, and mental health social worker. Both live in New South Wales, Australia and are students of Lee Lozowick.
Ryan and Alex sit down with world traveler, vlogger and author Dakota Wint, whose journeys have taken him deep into tribes and traditions across India, Papua New Guinea, Turkey, and beyond. Dakota shares what he's learned from immersing himself in cultures often hidden from the outside world, offering insights into Eastern religions, ancient practices, and the wisdom of remote communities. They also dive into the role of psychedelics as gateways to spiritual realms and tools for understanding the unseen and having out-of-body experiences.Learn more about Dakota at https://www.dakotawint.com/.
