"Is Your Subconscious Fear Causing You To Fail, Even Before You Try?" It happens this time every year. Many of us start the New Year with willingness, but seem to lose the zest within a few weeks or months. We set resolutions yet very few see them through, only 8 percent. Will this be yet another year where you make and then break your Resolutions? The truth is, if you make a New Year's Resolution again this year, you're setting yourself up for failure. It's not because you are a failure, it's simply because you're not addressing the real problem which is early childhood messages which connects to our adult fears and false pride. Until you do something different, you're going to get the same results, year after year. But don't beat yourself up, you're definitely not alone, let's work through this process together. Identity politics continues to feed divisive headlines that legacy media newsrooms churn out with no shame. In Episode 5 of Season 3, we ask - Is Fake News being used to legitimize evaluating political candidates based on their blood quantums? You'll hear how one of those abhorrent narratives, used to pillory a PC incumbent, was granted the aura of 'fact' by biased Winnipeg newsrooms - but when put under the microscope, fails the test of truth. 7:06 - Kevin Klein, PC candidate in Kirkfield Park, joins Marty Gold to explain why he's taking action against CBC Manitoba. The race-obsessed CBC reported about his family heritage in Ontario and alleged that he has falsely claimed Metis bloodlines. Now, Klein is promising to go beyond mere corrections and apologies - because the smear campaign has affected his family directly. Sometimes it's not what's in the story, it's what was left out of the story, that tells the tale, Klein explains. "The family tree that we have is not the one they published... what would make the media happy? Am I supposed to disown my family?" That's just part of what shifts the media reports outside of the realm of legitimate public interest journalism - and it's being used instead as the foundation of a smear campaign. Your support is needed now to expand our local reporting and election coverage- help us via paypal.com/paypalme/MartyGoldMedia This weekend, a newspaper columnist hopped on the bandwagon, telling a personal story of taking her young children to get their MMF cards and her family history and particularly of how the ancient governments "robbed Metis children" - presumably including hers in the present day- "of their inheritance". After 5 paragraphs, "Metis heritage always comes down to community" suddenly veers into Kevin Klein. Assailed for his "lack of education about Indigenous people in our province", the columnist said when "Klein asserts he is Metis" is it "hurtful and confusing". So confusing to her, in fact, that Rebecca Chambers concluded that Klein is "claiming to be us" to bolster his political ambitions. But that is Fake News. Last month we asked Is This What Louis Riel Would Say About Kevin Klein? He certainly wouldn't say what Rebecca Chambers did in the Free Press. As you'll hear him confirm, his mother's bloodline has no link to the Red River Metis and Klein never said it did. And this issue has nothing to do with requiring any approval from the MMF. This is a far-ranging discussion with Klein about the role of mainstream media in elections, and ends with a stark reminder of the ripple effects of Identity Politics on family members and relationships. "It's a hunt to take me down... This is just political spin, enough is enough is enough. We're elected to do a job, not to create political division." 36:58 - Marty wraps up the episode, with a mention of our most recent investigative series: Part 1 of our exclusive sit-down with Andrew Marquess of Gem Equities can be heard here. TGCTS continues our series of interviews with candidates in the 2023 Manitoba election. Our first of Season 3 is a chat with Obby Khan, who held the Fort Whyte seat for the governing PC's in a 2021 byelection and eyes a return to the Legislature. Marty Gold talks with Khan about his background in the CFL, in business and with public safety, and about his stint as a Cabinet minister in the Stefanson administration. "I'm a community guy, bringing people together". At the door, he says the themes are consistent around the province- affordability and growing the economy to pay for a long-decaying health care system. * You can sponsor podcasts /donate by email/or send along story tips: Email martygoldlive@gmail.com He touches on some of the Progressive Conservative campaign promises for seniors and to take on criminal violence. "When you have kids going downtown and they're getting stabbed or mugged because someone wants to steal their shoes, this is a major problem." "We are actively working to reduce crime in the city,' Khan insists, and a re-elected PC government would continue to demand reforms to toughen bail conditions for repeat offenders. He draws a clear distinction between the 'defund the police' position of some NDP candidates with the Tories support for law enforcement officers. * Want to help us expand our local reporting? Pajo (Paul) Radocaj, 83, was born in Croatia and was a retired construction worker living in the North End. Last August 15, new neighbours moved in. As you will hear, his daughter Vera got a call the next day that something was wrong at her dad's house. This special edition of the Crime Courts and Public Safety update brings the story of a family whose elderly father was brutally murdered last summer, by a killer who will never face justice. Roman Demczyszak, a friend of the new neighbours, was arrested in December and charged with 2nd degree murder. A few weeks ago, the Radocaj family got a call about the killer, too. Listener supported- it's with your help, that these important stories are being told! You can contribute via Interac transfer, or by this link: paypal.com/paypalme/MartyGoldMedia In Episode 49, Marty Gold reads the statement of Vera Radocaj with details about her dad, the day of the murder, the failed alibi, and the evidence that would prove Demcyszak did it- had he not died in custody. "With these unfortunate circumstances I was now able to find out what happened and how my dad was killed. I was informed that even though the case did not go to trial it wasn't a matter of who did it. Roman was the only one involved..." This week I have the pleasure of being joined by Antony "The Physio Detective" Lo.You'll have heard me mention Antony before, he is one of my favourite people in the post-partum fitness space, he clearly gives things a lot of thought and knows how to communicate his ideas extremely wellObviously he's also remarkably well qualified. Antony is a physiotherapist from Australia that works at the junction of Musculoskeletal, Sports, and Pelvic Health treatment, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement.Antony is also the founder of My PT Education, an educational platform dedicated to helping health and fitness professionals to “Do Something Different”.He has been studying and working in Physiotherapy since 1993. During this time, he has earned his degree in Physiotherapy, a Masters in Physiotherapy, and took part in the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Specialisation training program – the highest form of training a physiotherapist can take in Australia. So we talk many things including; The "be afraid, be very afraid!!" nonsense with regards to diastasis recti needs to stop.Soft doming Vs hard doming. Why thinking about the muscle during exercise is the wrong way to approach an exercise. Why diastasis is not an injury but an adaptation, and why that matters. That diastasis recti is not a problem unless the person who has it says it is.Whether diastasis leads to other issues such as lower back pain or if there's a link between diastasis and pelvic floor problems.Could diastasis during pregnancy actually be preventing prolapse? IOW, is diastasis actually a good thing, rather than something to be concerned aboutWhy not everything people associate with diastasis is actually caused by diastasis. Why a lot of terms used in post-partum recovery programs, such as "diaphragmatic breathing" actually don't mean that much but just sound important..And one of the BIGGEST fallacies in physio treatment/personal training etc. "If something is better after you've come to see me..that's because I'm a genius! And if it didn't work, it's because YOU did something wrong"And much more.If you're a fitness professional working with post-partum women, or even if you're not, this is a must listen! You can find Antony in all the usual places but remember that he's also coming to the UK at the end of January! You can find all the dates, and book the course, hereYou can also find all other courses he does hereCheck out his website, Instagram and LinkedinRemember to follow us on Instagram and Facebook for the competitions, wisdom and cute videos. In this episode of TeachLab, our host Justin Reich goes behind the scenes of the Teaching Systems Lab's new documentary film We Have to Do Something Different: Teachers on the Journey to Create More Equitable Schools. The 35-minute film provokes important conversations about the big challenges facing schools by taking a detailed look at the small steps teachers around the country are taking every day to help their students succeed. These dedicated teachers provide hope that, while the systemic inequities in our schools won't disappear overnight, educators can make a positive impact, starting now. In this episode, Justin explains the film's origins in TSL's online course Becoming a More Equitable Educator. He then shares key clips from the film that show the teaching practices that help teachers build relationships with their students and engage students in challenging but important conversations about representation and equity. The episode ends with Justin interviewing Neema Avashia, social studies teacher in Boston Public Schools and one of the stars of the film. They discuss the current challenges facing public schools and the need to bring joy back into the classroom. This fall, you can screen We Have to Do Something Different and get a peek into Neema's classroom yourself. Baptism is a public declaration of a personal decision. Joshua 24:15 // But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Revelation 3:15-16 // I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. Revelation 21:4-5 // ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death' or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” 2 Corinthians 5:17 // Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17 TLB // When someone becomes a Christian, he becomes a brand new person inside. He is not the same anymore. A new life has begun! HOW DO WE CHANGE? Outside in or Inside Out. Do SOMETHING DIFFERENT or become SOMEONE DIFFERENT. Improve the OLD YOU or become a NEW YOU. New leaf vs. new life Romans 6:4 // We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Keep the length of your video under 1 minute- Less is More. To achieve optimal viewership, the sweet spot for video length is between 60 and 90 seconds. However, when it comes to engaging leads and cold prospects, we advise keeping your video under sixty seconds. Although more convenient than taking a cold call, watching your video still takes time out of your recipient's day. If you keep the video under a minute, you run a lower risk of losing their attention. Include a call-to-action within your video The point of sending a video isn't just to get it played. Every video you send should have a purpose and an intended outcome. If you think about nothing else before you hit the record button, determine what you'd like your recipient to do with the information you're about to provide them. Simplify your subject line Unfortunately, adding video to your emails will not affect your open rate. Videos will boost engagement with you and your messages, but it's still up to you to craft a great subject line and send it at the right time to get your email opened. People can typically sniff out a mass email based on the subject line itself, which many times deters them from opening the email in the first place. If you've taken the time to record a personal video, the last thing you want is your recipient, thinking it's a mass email and ignoring it altogether. Few tips for your subject line: Remember, shorter is better ( 2-3 words) Company name in subject line improves your open rates First names in subject lines didn't help open rates Don't Capitalize The First Letter Of Every Word. Humans don't talk or type like that. Therefore, when most people see a subject line crafted in such a way, they may assume it's part of an automated drip campaign. A best practice is to frame your subject line in "sentence case," or don't capitalize on anything! Your Lighting Matters Find a well-lit area to shoot your video. Natural lighting is better and more flattering, but having enough light is key. The lighting should be in front of you and not behind you. You can buy a clip-on light for your phone or computer to help. Be Yourself to make the best impression Have a set objective for your message. It may be helpful to write out your message, so it keeps you on track. Be authentic when recording it like your talking with a friend. You have a few seconds to engage your prospect. Don't overthink it! Be confident, Smile, and be you! If you like this podcast, make sure you rate it; if you think someone could benefit from this episode, share it, or subscribe at Itunes or Spotify, so you don't miss out on the next three-word podcast.
Ashran left Petronas and started on his tech entrepreneurship journey with web development and started on the video streaming idea even before YouTube ! Remember RealPlayer ? "Do Something Different" lead them to social content network Joota which almost went public. That journey was the best MBA school for him, which was the best preparation for MaGIC. Ray Richards is a social entrepreneur and a founder of tech wellbeing company, Do Something Different, the Life Done Different.ly podcast and Port Moor Cottage, a men’s wellbeing retreat that floods. His work seeks to understand how we can all find balance in our lives through the lens of the unknown and the known, how we can all benefit from taking small slightly uncomfortable steps into the unknown and turning that experience into the known. His work explains how that process of expanding our comfort zone is crucial for our wellbeing. In this episode we discuss:How work and play can become indistinguishable The nature of adventure in creating a businessThe hangover of exiting a successful businessThe importance of being around in the teen yearsBeing able to take time out, guilt freeShielding children from stressThe genesis of passion projectsHow being on a mission inoculates against guiltThe importance of knowing your 'why'Putting your oxygen mask firstLearning from his father and being differentLetting go of the need to be successful You can find out more about Ray at https://www.lifedonedifferent.ly/ and https://dsd.meJoin us in our community at: www.facebook.com/groups/heartofdad and apply to be on the podcast here: www.heartofdad.com/contact
This episode is a meaty one in which the conversation covers 10 year plans, cottage renovations, business goals, life goals, selling companies, self-awareness and leadership. My talking partner on the podcast is Ray Richards, founder of Do Something Different. He's fascinated by behavioural flexibility and is on a mission to make the world a better place by helping people make better behaviours. He's also an experienced entrepreneur who's sold two businesses and is now in the process of growing his third. Along the journey he's learned many things not only about business but about himself. He says he's "inherently lazy" but what he really means is that he doesn't want to spend all hours of the day on work, as he's got other things he wants to do. So what does that mean when it comes to leading a business? What makes a leader? When we think of great leaders we associate them with traits such as drive, charisma, resilience, clarity and clear communication. However, I believe that we can all lead in our own way. To do so we need to ask ourselves some probing questions. What are my personal (emotional) needs and where do they come from? What does my organisation, business or work need to be to address these needs? With that deeper understanding of ourselves we can develop a style of leadership that feels authentic and purposeful. We may not become the next Steve Jobs, but we'll build a business that does the job of making us happy. And that's what Ray wants. To do work and build a life that makes him happy. Listen on to hear his thoughts about leadership and how he needs to lead now.

Mark is the CEO of Action for Happiness, a movement designed to helps people increase wellbeing in their homes, workplaces, schools and local communities. His journey of awakening from a typical middle-class ‘go with the flow’ mentality to sharing a stage with the Dalai Lama is one that sets him apart. Mark is a very thoughtful and considerate man. When he applies himself to a task he does it consciously, he does it with care, deep thought and diligence. The fact that the movement he’s helped build is so focused on action . . . is why we so admire him and his team of volunteers. Richard Layard may be the inspiration behind Action for Happiness but Mark is the person that’s made it happen. In this conversation, you’ll get a taste of why and how.

This episode is different to the others. We (Neil Witten and Ray Richards) discuss the Do Something Different methodology, why we started Life Done Different.ly, how we met, what we've learned and what we're learning from the conversations we're having.
Generational differences and their effect on the workplace rely less on age and more on the ability to embrace the unknown, according to Ray Richards of Do Something Different. “Really what I am talking about is change” he said, speaking at the EG Workplace of Tomorrow Conference. “It’s not the strongest people who survive or the most intelligent, but the most responsive to change… the one thing we have to do is understand how to embrace change, otherwise we will struggle, we will not thrive.”
You may believe the best use of our time and political capital would be best spent debating the merits of giving the homeless shotguns to defend themselves. If that's you, this podcast is not for you. If, on the other hand, you want a solution to get a portion of the homeless off the street then I've got an idea for you. It requires people to actually DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT but its a simple, free-market solution to help give people a hand up and boost our economy at the same time. Listen now! Jason Support the show.

Don’t Look at Competition Too Much "There is always going to be competition, there are always people doing than you, and its also easy to be jealous. Competition isn’t a bad thing. Just because your buddy is making millions, and you’re making only $30k, is ok. Trust your path." If Everyone is Doing the Same Thing, Do Something Different Tyson used to worked at a car dealership and it was custom to shake a customers hand and greet them at the door. So every sales person would constantly stay in the same spot, expecting the people to walk in. It would be at that point that they would hope to get the sale. Well, if the best sales person is doing that exact same thing, try and find a different strategy that they aren't doing. So stand in a different spot, maybe go to the back and work your way to the front. “Rookie” entrepreneurs look at the same industry and try to replicate it, Tyson realized that everyone was educating people about sports. So Tyson decided to go a different route. Have a Good Team Around You "Have people push you and bring you back down to reality. Money is a big portion in business, but have those people who can tell you it’s ok to be where you’re at."
