Soph is over visiting mum on the IOW and we roped her into joining us on the podcast. I always say people don't need to moan at me about things because there is my mother. She keeps my feet well and truly on the ground that's for sure   We look ahead to mothers day and what we plan to do, which hopefully involves the men spoiling us. But we also look back and reminisce about some of our favourite things to do together with our mum. As usual my mum doesn't hold back and I even mistake her for a troll in our new feature 'the Katie Price is right'!   As always we answer listener questions and give life advice from the price. She did this by planning and executing a new women's FKT record on the IOW coastal path! She did this in 11 hours and 48 minutes, knocking nearly 2 and a half hours off the previous women's record! We also talk about her recent award from the police for helping to talk down a man who was attempting to end his life by throwing himself off the cliffs on her regular running route! This prompted a conversation about coincidence and being in the right place at the right time. She may have been disappointed with her races in the past year, but she is deservedly proud of the kind act that her changed circumstances allowed her to do!A great chat as always!URS

4 Steps To Sharing Your Faith With People Who Disagree With You

If you believe in Jesus, most likely there's someone in your life (that you love) that doesn't believe in Jesus. Maybe they walked away from God or never had a relationship with Him in the first place. And you're praying that will change.  So, how do you share your faith with people who disagree with you? How do you share your faith with people who you know are going to be hard to convince? #1) Build a bridge to others. You may be walking into a tough conversation, but the goal isn't to argue or debate or to win an argument. The goal is to win someone's heart and soul for Christ!  #2) Affirm their spiritual curiosity – even if it's misguided. Be loving. Be engaging. Remember, they may be far from God, but God put them close to you and you need to keep the lines of communication open. #3) Connect Christ to the culture. We watch the Apostle Paul do this in the Bible. His philosophy was: “I become all things to all men that I might by all means, save some!”  #4) Ultimately, obedience is our responsibility, but the outcome is God's. IOW – it's your responsibility to reach out to others and share your faith with those in your path, but you can't control the outcome. Watch this message by Pastor Tim Lucas and discover 4 tips for sharing your faith with people who disagree with you.  #LiquidChurch #ShareYouFaith #ToughConversations

Last week we talked about some of the trials of life - stuff that happens simply because we live in a fallen world; and how God uses what we go through to help us through what I called the Perfecting Process (perfect being a Biblical term that often just means complete and whole, or mature). We saw how if we watch, if we ask WHAT GOD and not WHY GOD, then we can cooperate with the perfecting process and God's ultimate intention for our lives - making us more like Jesus - is able to happen. This week, we are still in the first chapter of James - but I want to show you something that may shake your theology a bit.You see we live in a culture where those who believe in God love the blessings that God brings to them. We like to look at verses 16 and 17 of this first chapter: "Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change."Father of Lights you delight in Your children, we sing. We love the good and perfect gifts from above, don't we?But have you ever gotten a gift that ultimately was good, and truly perfect - but it didn't SEEM good at the time? IOW, what if SOME of those trials we face in life didn't come from just life happening, but from a different source?

Live from Pawnee: A Parks and Recreation Fan Rewatch Podcast

This week Mark and Allen break down the Episode where Ron first learns April and Andy will be moving away to Washington DC!  With the Harvest Festival once again in full swing, Ben's busy congressional campaign continues, and he and Leslie make the call to skip a few Festival-related things, one of which is the "Pie-Mary", a Southern Indiana tradition where the wives of congressional candidates face off in a pie-baking contest ... something which Leslie would have refused to participate in anyway due to its antiquated and retrogressive nature. Unfortunately, several reporters pounce on this, which, combined with the yellow journalism of Mike Patterson, quickly makes this a point of controversy. Not wanting to make things harder for Ben, Leslie decides to reverse her position and participate in the Pie-Mary ... but unfortunately, THIS gets the attention of the Indiana Organization of Women, who threaten to protest both Leslie and Ben at the event. Scrambling to figure out the right move, Ben comes up with an idea that would sidestep the controversy, refocus the campaign on the candidate, and flip the antiquated tradition on its head ... HE'S going to enter the Pie-Mary instead of Leslie.  Meanwhile, April informs Ron that she is about to move to Washington with Andy to take on a new job. Ron tells her that she has to return the key to his house. April realises that she has changed the hiding place of the key, and that she left a trail of clues, the first being 4 human teeth and a Twilight ticket stub. She and Andy tell Ron, but Ron is very excited to solve this mystery. They first visit Donna, who informs them that she and April watched that movie together years ago, when April removed her wisdom teeth. Donna also informs them that April also visited the shoeshine stand that day. The trio runs to the shoeshine stand, only to find that it was removed during the remodeling of the city hall.  Finally, during the search for Ron's key, Andy finds a small brown box where April used to hide things outside in the City Hall courtyard. The box did NOT contain Ron's key, but it DID contain Jerry's wedding ring that he lost down the sewer grate 6 years ago. Jerry is overjoyed to have it again, but then in typical Jerry Gergich fashion ... drops it in the sewer grate  ... AGAIN. As Jerry attempts to fish the ring out, Donna notices him, and chooses to stay with him and keep him company. Donna and Jerry enjoy each other's company, reminiscing with each other about the old days. As Jerry ends up losing more and more things down the grate, Donna keeps things light by laughing about it and ordering them dinner.  As always, we tackle the tough questions, such as ... Does Ben have any ideas about redefining what a pie is? Are there more clues to find, or is this a dead end? How does Donna feel about hanging out with Jerry all day? Can Ben entering the Pie-Mary instead of Leslie prevent the IoW from protesting? Will Ron ever get his key back? Does Jerry get an earful when he returns home? Will any other protestors rise up to complain about anything political or pie related? Will April ever get satisfying closure from Ron? Will Jerry ever get his wedding ring back?  Loyal viewers, this looks like a great episode with a lot of nice callbacks, but will it live up to the hype? Could it be a perfect 10? Stay tuned to find out! Many thanks to our wonderful sponsor ... The Calzone Zone.

It's been said that an essential key in life... is the wisdom to navigate life WITH THE END IN MIND. IOW, when we understand what we want our life to lead to, we are able to form a life that is consistent with that end. So it's vital that as a believer you bear in mind WHERE are you headed? What is the end aim for your life? Is there an aim - or are you just shooting your arrows at trees and then going up and painting the target on the tree where the arrow hit?Where are WE going? What is the end that defines our existence? Where is life ultimately headed? These are the questions we are going to explore today.  We've been studying the foundations of faith as outlined in Hebrews chapter 6. We talked about Repentance, and Faith, about Baptism and the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. And now we come to the end of the list - “the resurrection of the dead and eternal punishment.”

GREATER THAN (A STUDY IN THE BOOK OF HEBREWS) SUBSERIES: FOUNDATIONS - WEEK 2 - FAITH PART 1

This past week I was doing a lot of thinking and meditation and discussing with other people about the concept of faith. You know, even if you claim to be a person without faith, the fact remains that you have faith in SOMETHING. And you can have 100% of faith in something. Don't believe me? People do it everyday when they get on an airplane…this multi-ton metal tube that hurtles through the air at an insane speed. And it comes to land on three points of rubber… don't tell me you don't have faith. Obviously you do - otherwise you'd never get on a plane. We live by faith. In fact, I don't think you can get through a single day without demonstrating faith in SOMETHING. When you flip a light switch you put faith in the electrical wiring. When you turn the ignition switch in your car, you trust the motor. When you mail a letter you have faith in the US Mail Service. Well….okay….maybe there's a limit with somethings. I KID! But, seriously…when you THINK you can trust things, and it turns out bad, there is a better chance that you just placed your faith in the wrong thing rather than that thing doesn't exist. IOW, faith SEEMS to be only as valuable as WHAT (or WHO) you put your faith in.Now that's true in human relationships, in commercial companies; and it's ALSO true when it comes to SPIRITUAL faith. And there are many, many things and entities that people have put their faith in over the course of human history. Buddhists have put their faith in the idea of getting to do things over and over and over until you get it right, according to the teaching of the Buddha. Muslims have put their trust in Mohammed, the prophet, and his insights into God (whom they call Allah). Hindus have put their trust in thousands of gods. Even when people claim no religion at all, they still live by faith. Faith that their system of belief is actually real. And at the heart of most religions, interestingly enough, is the faith that people are by-and-large generally GOOD. Humans seem to have faith in human potential. And that may manifest itself in the preeminence of science or politics, or it may well be expressed as a harmony with nature.Last week we began a mini-series in the New Testament Book of Hebrews based on what the Author of Hebrews refers to as “the elementary” things of God - the Basics, if you will. Things that you should probably understand before moving on to some deeper understanding of how God works in our lives, and how He leads us. In fact, the Author of Hebrews is frustrated that the Hebrew converts to Christianity to whom he is writing aren't able to withstand the temptation to go back to try to be justified by the Old Testament Law, rather than to trust in the sufficiency of Jesus for their right standing with God.He tells them that by this time, they ought to be teachers (Heb. 5:12), but instead they are on shaky ground because they still need someone to teach them the basics yet again. The basics shouldn't be shunned or thought less of. That's why I decided we should pause our Hebrews study to go back to the basics. And for some of you, that might be frustrating; you want to get past all this elementary stuff and get to the Master's courses. But please note there are others here who have never even heard about the basics EVER - and this is the first time they are hearing about things like repentance, and faith, and baptism, and the Holy Spirit, and Eternal Life. And then there are the majority of us who find ourselves somewhere in the middle of those extremes; folks who THINK they know the game, but who need to be sat down every once in a while and have a coach pick up a Bible and say, “Church, this is the Gospel. This is the Faith.”For the next two weeks we are looking at the second foundational truth the Author of Hebrews mentions in chapter 6, verses 1-3. Last week we talked about repentance, this week and next will be all about

The irony is that children – and those who share their qualities – are the only ones who make it into the kingdom of God. --IntroIn Mark 10:13-16 Jesus was indignant when his disciples tried to keep little children away from him. The irony is that children – and those who share their qualities – are the only ones who make it into the kingdom of God. Mark 10:13-16 (ESV) And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” And he took them in his arms and blessed them, laying his hands on them.We saw this a couple weeks ago - children were second class citizens, not highly revered in ancient culture. A contextual point that might matter later, when talking about the characteristics of children. These are not teens or even pre-teens (with cultural attitudes we're used to).Age of these children: small - Jesus able to take them in his armsLuke uses the word for “infant” = Luke 18:15 says “little children” (NLT)(Pillar New Testament Commentary) v. 14 is the only passage in the Gospels where Jesus is said to be "indignant." The word for "indignant" (Gk., aganaktein) means "to arouse to anger," i.e., to vent oneself in expressed displeasure rather than simply brooding about it. The object of a person's indignation reveals a great deal about that person. Jesus' displeasure here reveals his compassion and defense of the helpless, vulnerable, and powerless.Jesus identifies the heart of the issue:: “the kingdom of God”. IOW what does God value? Who can belong to him? Q. What does it mean to be “like a child”?Innocence? NO (original sin)Ignorance? NO (you don't have to check your brains at the door)The issue: what is it that is unique and admirable about children that is not often found in adults?UnpretentiousChildren are unpretentious, not given to putting on airs. God is looking for people who come as they are, not those trying to pad their resumes. Back to the text: the disciples were pretending to be something they weren't. Who made them the gatekeepers? They were parading / posing. We don't know their motives entirely. Maybe they wanted to spare Jesus from some hassles. But maybe they wanted people to think they were important.Children don't do that. What you see is what you get. There is a certain modesty about childhood.Compare Matt 18:2-4. (ESV) At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I way to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”The disciples raised a question that probably reveals the underlying heart issue for them. Jesus' answer: called a little child, placed the child in front of them. “Unless you become like children, you will never enter the kingdom…” The point: the child was not trying or pretending to be great. No ambition, pride, arrogance, hypocrisy. Jesus adds, “Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”Note: Mark says “kingdom of God”; Matt says “kingdom of heaven.” They are the same thing. Matthew is writing for Jewish audience. Jews never used the name of God, but substituted a euphemism. So instead of saying “kingdom of God” it was considered more devout / reverent to say...

Controversy Over Women PastorsThe Southern Baptist Convention has voted to expel churches with women pastors. This includes the famous Saddleback Church of Rick Warren (Purpose Driven Life). At the same time, another denomination, the Christian and Missionary Alliance, has changed their policy to allow women to be pastors.Churches that allow women as pastors are called “egalitarian,” based on the idea of equal opportunities for both genders. Those that restrict the pastoral role of men are called “complementarian,” based on the idea of men and women holding different roles that complement (or provide something essential or lacking to) each other. See: http://www.baptist2baptist.net/printfriendly.asp?ID=58 “We don't know how to say this more strongly: women and men are of equal value! However, because Scripture speaks specifically to the role of pastor, churches are under a moral imperative to be guided by that teaching, rather than the shifting opinions of human cultures.”Pastors = EldersThe Bible teaches that the offices of pastor and elder are equivalent.Acts 20:28 (addressed “to the elders of the church at Ephesus (17)) So guard yourselves and God's people. Feed and shepherd God's flock - his church, purchased with his own blood - over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as leaders.Elders are called to “feed and shepherd God's flock”. The title “pastor” is literally “shepherd.” They are appointed as “leaders”. The word translated “leader” is the same word translated as “overseer” in other passages.1 Peter 5:1-2 And now, a word to you who are elders in the churches. I, too, am an elder and a witness to the sufferings of Christ. And I, too, will share in his glory when he is revealed to the whole world. As a fellow elder, I appeal to you: Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you.Elders are assigned to “care for the flock” - IOW to act as shepherds, that is, pastorsIn our culture, not all elders are “vocational” (or paid) pastors paid as pastors. But vocational pastors are clearly a subset of a church's elders. This is important as a precursor to the next point, which is at the heart of the controversy.Only Men Can Be EldersIn the Bible, the eldership role is limited to men.1 Timothy 3:1-2 This is a trustworthy saying: “If someone aspires to be an overseer, he desires an honorable position. So an overseer must be a man whose life is above reproach. He must be faithful to his wife…”(literally in Greek: “a one-woman man”)Titus 1:6 An elder must live a blameless life. He must be faithful to his wife,...(again, in Greek: “a one-woman man”)There are a lot of other qualifications. This isn't just about gender.1 Tim: a life above reproach; Exercise self-control; Able to teach; Gentle, not quarrelsome; Manage his family well; Not love moneyTitus: Live wisely; Be just; Live a devout disciplined life; Enjoy having guests. This list should remind complementarian churches to take other qualities seriously besides gender. 1 Tim referred to overseers; Titus to elders. There is clearly an equivalence. We've already seen that these words also include the people who are pastors / shepherds in the church. Putting two and two together, pastors must be male.Teaching and AuthorityAt the heart of the debate is the interpretation of I Timothy 2.1 Tim 2 (NLT) 11 Women should learn quietly and submissively. 12 I do not let women teach men or have authority over them. Let them listen quietly. 13 For God made Adam first, and afterward he made Eve.(Pillar New Testament Commentary) Complementarians have been accused of vesting too

Do we need a new approach to dealing with Diastasis Recti? Interview with Antony "The Physiodetective" Lo

This week I have the pleasure of being joined by Antony "The Physio Detective" Lo.You'll have heard me mention Antony before, he is one of my favourite people in the post-partum fitness space, he clearly gives things a lot of thought and knows how to communicate his ideas extremely wellObviously he's also remarkably well qualified. Antony is a physiotherapist from Australia that works at the junction of Musculoskeletal, Sports, and Pelvic Health treatment, rehabilitation, and performance enhancement.Antony is also the founder of My PT Education, an educational platform dedicated to helping health and fitness professionals to “Do Something Different”.He has been studying and working in Physiotherapy since 1993. During this time, he has earned his degree in Physiotherapy, a Masters in Physiotherapy, and took part in the Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy Specialisation training program – the highest form of training a physiotherapist can take in Australia.  So we talk many things including; The "be afraid, be very afraid!!" nonsense with regards to diastasis recti needs to stop.Soft doming Vs hard doming. Why thinking about the muscle during exercise is the wrong way to approach an exercise. Why diastasis is not an injury but an adaptation, and why that matters. That diastasis recti is not a problem unless the person who has it says it is.Whether diastasis leads to other issues such as lower back pain or if there's a link between diastasis and pelvic floor problems.Could diastasis during pregnancy actually be preventing prolapse? IOW, is diastasis actually a good thing, rather than something to be concerned aboutWhy not everything people associate with diastasis is actually caused by diastasis. Why a lot of terms used in post-partum recovery programs, such as "diaphragmatic breathing" actually don't mean that much but just sound important..And one of the BIGGEST fallacies in physio treatment/personal training etc. "If something is better after you've come to see me..that's because I'm a genius! And if it didn't work, it's because YOU did something wrong"And much more.If you're a fitness professional working with post-partum women, or even if you're not, this is a must listen! You can find Antony in all the usual places but remember that he's also coming to the UK at the end of January! You can find all the dates, and book the course, hereYou can also find all other courses he does hereCheck out his website, Instagram and LinkedinRemember to follow us on Instagram and Facebook for the competitions, wisdom and cute videos. Hour 1 * Guest: Dr. Scott Bradley, * To Preserve the Nation: In the Tradition of the Founding Fathers – FreedomsRisingSun.com * The Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates: A Proper Resistance to Tyranny and a Repudiation of Unlimited Obedience to Civil Government – Matthew J. Trewhella. * The ‘Doctrine of the Lesser Magistrates'! – To Defy Tyrants! * The Lesser Magistrate Doctrine teaches that when the superior or higher ranking civil authority makes unjust/immoral law, policy, or court opinion – the lower or lesser ranking civil authority has both the God-given right and duty to refuse obedience to that superior authority; and if necessary, actively resist the superior authority. * In the book's Introduction, Trewhella describes the three “boxes” that the Founding Fathers established in order to preserve liberty and resist tyranny: the ballot box (to remove unjust rulers through the vote), the jury box (not only judge to the facts of a case, but also to judge the law itself and determine whether it is being misapplied or is unjust or immoral), and the cartridge box (to allow an armed citizenry not only to repel a foreign invader, but also to act against tyranny from our own government). However, those are not the only tools that the Founding Fathers gave us. * remember, “God Is The Supreme Magistrate”! Hour 2 * Guest: Lowell Nelson – CampaignForLiberty.org – RonPaulInstitute.org * A Tale of Two Midterms – Ron Paul. “The liberty movement's focus was, and is, on restoring constitutional government in all areas, ending our interventionist foreign policy, and changing our monetary policy by auditing and ending the Federal Reserve and legalizing alternative currencies.” * Saving Arizona and Other States: 10 Proven Reforms for Fairer Elections – Mahatma Orwell. * CSPOA Solutions for Rebuilding Trust In United States Elections – The Value of Political Stability! * 22 States Urge Biden Administration to Repeal COVID-19 Vaccine Mandate for Health Care Workers – TheEpochTimes.com * The Tenth Amendment – TenthAmendmentCenter.com One, The federal government is only authorized to exercise those powers delegated to it. Two, The people of the several states retain the authority to exercise any power that is not delegated to the federal government as long as the Constitution doesn't expressly prohibit it. * Constitutional Powers the States have, and the Feds do not. Who was Tench Coxe? He was a Philadelphia businessman who had served in the Confederation Congress and, in subsequent years, was to become the Assistant Secretary of the Treasury. “They cannot interfere with, alter or amend the constitution of any state.” Of course, this is precisely what federal judge Robert Shelby did in December 2013 when he issued his opinion that the definition of marriage that Utahns placed in their constitution was unconstitutional. Those who wrote and ratified the Constitution rolled over in their graves that month! * The “muscles” of state sovereignty are weak, because states have not exercised their authority. So their power is weak. IOW, do they have the authority? Yes. Do they have the power? No, because they haven't exercised their muscles (their authority). Well, we need to generate power by exercising our authority. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/loving-liberty/support

Find out more about his work as a composer here: http://pauljernberg.com Some highlights from the video: "More and more, such pragmatic thinkers are discovering that religion and certain religious practices… just work – even if we don't understand how. Study after study concludes that religious people are generally more happy and at peace than their non-practicing pears. Which is why psychologists like Dr. Jordan Peterson are eager to embrace the idea that even if you don't know if God exists, it's a good idea to act like he does – because – it works. It works for all the kinds of afflictions someone like him is responsible for helping relieve. " "Unresolved conflict and forgiveness are related to important relationships in your life. I'm not talking about the guy who cut you off in traffic or the person who was rude to you at the coffee shop, because those things are easy to forget about and move on. I'm talking about important relationships because when people who you share some intimate aspect of your life with hurt you, it can be extremely hard not to resent them and almost impossible to forget them. And this presents you with a choice. Every time you think of that person, you can indulge your anger and resentment and even thoughts of revenge – or you can choose to forgive them. If you choose the former – think about what that entails and to help illustrate this, I'm going to amplify the principle with an example that probably a lot of people can relate to. Imagine a parent who has done something that has seriously hurt you – like, I don't know, splitting up your family by getting divorced – not uncommon right, but also extremely hurtful for everyone involved. Now imagine one parent is more to blame, like they had an affair or something. Well, you're going to be confronted with your own emotional anger over what they did, and that's to be expected. We should be angered by that kind of wrong behaviour. But if you nurture that anger, as a habit, so that it doesn't recede, if you regularly feed it so that it grows in intensity and becomes something like hatred for that person, then think about what that does to you. Because that person, is going to feature significantly in your life up until that point. You will have memories of all the most important events in your life that include that person. Think about holidays, family events, formative moments in your life, graduations, weddings, the birth of your children. In order to hate that person, you will simultaneously be training yourself to hate important aspects of your own life – IOW you will be training yourself to hate, yourself by hating important parts of yourself."

IOW, parents might not be able to take their kids hiking, or join a sports club, due to the cost involved but a compensation for missing out on those healthy activities could be a burger or something. I'll delve into the study a bit as it really is something easily missed.Remember to follow us on Instagram and Facebook for the competitions, wisdom and cute videos.
