How can churches truly become spaces for everyone? In this episode, Loren Richmond Jr. talks with Dan Kreiss and Ephraim Smith, co-authors of Church for Everyone: Building a Multi-Inclusive Community for Emerging Generations. Together, they explore how churches can move beyond silos of race, class, and ideology to truly reflect the diverse body of Christ. Dan and Ephraim discuss the shift from attractional mega-church models to localized, neighborhood-based faith communities, the growing need for multi-ethnic and multi-generational churches, and why the church should lead the way in reconciliation rather than follow secular models of inclusion. They also examine the tension between church as an institution vs. church as a gathered community and how leaders can navigate these complexities while engaging younger generations.   Dan Kreiss (DMin, George Fox University) is the associate minister for mission and community outreach at Roswell Presbyterian Church in the greater Atlanta area. He was previously professor of youth ministry and dean of the School of Missions at King University in Bristol, Tennessee. Efrem Smith (DMin, Fuller Theological Seminary) is the colead pastor of Midtown Church, a thriving multiethnic community in Sacramento, California. In today's culture, sexuality and gender are the embodiment of happiness, fulfilment and our sense of self. It's no surprise that especially young people can find a God-centred view of sex to be oppressive, unfair or even hateful.  No wonder Christians can find this area such a stumbling block to presenting the gospel. Are the Gospel accounts in the Bible trustworthy? Why were some Gospel accounts left out of the Bible? Learn from a scholar how to be certain, beyond a reasonable doubt, if what the Bible says about Jesus holds up to scrutiny or not? The week Jonathan and Pastor Vinnie are joined by Pastor Daniel Royo who is finishing up his Ph.D. in Bible studies. Daniel fields questions from Jon and Vinnie on the hard issues about the Gospel accounts of Jesus in the Bible. In this episode, we hold no punches and explore the question of why some “Gospels” were left out of the Bible and If the text of the Gospels has been changed or tampered with. We look at what modern non-believing scholars think about the New Testament, the Gospels, and their history. Interview with Pepe Estrada, Director of Public Affairs at WalmartIn case you didn't know: Walmart is big. It's so big, it is the largest private employer in the United States, with over 1.5 million employees. Now imagine driving change from the top, having the support of the CEO to lead Walmart's efforts in community outreach.Meet Jose (Pepe) Estrada, the Director of Public Affairs at Walmart. Over the past 15 years, he's worked with LatinX, LGBTQ, American Indian, People with Disabilities, and Emerging Generations communities. He's even led Walmart's first influencer-based reputation management initiative. The interesting thing about Pepe is that he didn't start out in public affairs at all. He began as an economist in Peru before moving to the United States to get his PhD in agricultural economics at NC State. Along the way, he learned three vital rules for success, which could be why he's been so successful across roles and industries: 1. Be adaptable and flexible, 2. Network, and 3. Never judge a book by its cover. Have you listened to the podcast? How has your perception of Walmart changed as a result? Do you agree with Pepe's rules for success?
