We discuss how this could happen to a talk show legend and whether dementia played a role in her losing control of her finances.  Another Haute Topic is Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt's GoFundMe Backlash – After losing their home in a fire, the reality TV couple asked fans for donations. Is that fair or tone-deaf? Teresa shares her thoughts on celebrity privilege and public perception.  Teresa's Personal Reflections include candidly speaking about her ongoing feud with her brother Joe Gorga, claiming he chose Margaret Josephs over his own sister. Losing Her Parents – She recalls losing her mother shortly after coming home from prison and how it marked the end of her marriage. Three years later, she lost her father and it devestated her. Which Jersey Girl wore real jewels and who wore the fakes? Who was elegant and classy and made bold statements? Who had a fabric disaster and who looked like they shopped in LA's infamous Santee Alley? Who was Teresa referring to when she used the words "prom misses"? We delve into Reality TV Reboots The trio discussing Vanderpump Rules and RHONY revamps and agree that nothing beats the OGs. What is Teresa's opinion of The Valley? Teresa reveals some  Behind-the-Scenes Bravo Secrets and spills on last-minute wardrobe stress, stylist nightmares, and why casting decisions cause major drama.  We end part two with another piece of Teresa's Armenian Coffee Cup Grounds Reading and a Shocking Prediction with an upcoming family gathering where shocking news will be revealed. The advice? Stay quiet and observe—but can Teresa resist speaking her mind? Who cheated on her and is she ready to head back to those table flipping moments? Hello there, friends. Welcome back to the podcast. I love this time of year. The twinkle lights, the snow, the frost on the trees, it all makes me so happy. I love Christmas music, yes, and I love all the Christmas decorations everywhere. I love the get-togethers, eggnog, treats, and parties. But there are also a lot of challenges that are brought up at this time of year, especially around body trust. The holidays are associated with family gatherings, friends, festive meals and food. It sometimes stirs up complicated feelings around eating, hunger, and around body image. It can be very stressful. So how should you approach it? What can we all do to make things easier on ourselves over the holiday season? That's what this episode is all about.   What does it actually mean to practice body trust during the holiday season?  It's about staying connected to your own needs and approaching food with a joyful mindset instead of a pressured one. And it's about navigating challenging family dynamics and conversations. We often give ourselves these pep talks to “enjoy but in moderation” or “indulge but not too much” and “get back on track in January” but that just creates an exhausting tug of war inside us. So today I talk about how you can enjoy this time of year without being excessive or restrictive. I talk about staying present with food throughout the meal. Don't tune out and eat mindlessly but truly enjoy what you're eating. It's okay to stop when you're full and it's okay to have seconds if you aren't. Listen to your body, not the people around you. I talk about paying attention to self-care so we don't lose ourselves in all the hustle and bustle. And I talk about how to set boundaries during gatherings to avoid triggering conversations about weight. Join me as we talk about truly enjoying the holidays with body trust and a sense of peace in place.__About Dr. Michelle Tubman:Dr. Michelle Tubman is certified by the American Board of Obesity Medicine, which means she understands exactly what's happening in your body when you diet. Send us a textWith the holiday season in full swing, many of us are finding ourselves navigating sometimes tricky and challenging family gatherings, especially with our queer kids. This time of year often comes with particular, sometimes unspoken, expectations about our participation in family events. Supporting our queer kids also occasionally means having to respond to inappropriate questions, uncomfortable interactions, and hurtful situations. This week In the Den, Sara sits down with therapists Laura Skaggs and Lisa Hansen to talk through possible coping strategies and boundaries to help get us through the holidays while protecting and prioritizing the wellbeing of our queer children.Special Guest: Laura SkaggsLaura Skaggs is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who specializes in treating spiritual trauma at the intersection of LGBTQ+ experiences and religion. Laura earned her master's degree in marriage and family therapy at San Diego State University with an emphasis in LGBTQ+ mental health within conservative religious social contexts. She went on to serve for two years on the board of directors of Affirmation: LGBT+ Mormons, Families, and Friends with a focus on responding to spiritual trauma and suicide prevention. Laura is also the co-creator of CWEERS Empowerment groups: a practice designed to help LGBTQ+ individuals and their supporters confront social discrimination and internalized stigma. Laura is the mother of two daughters and presently sees clients full time in Provo, UT, as part of Flourish Therapy.Special Guest: Lisa HansenLisa Tensmeyer Hansen (PhD, LMFT, Clinical Director) is the clinical director and founder of Flourish Therapy, Inc., (Flourish), a behavioral health clinic located in Provo, Utah, which she founded in February 2017 to meet the needs of LGBTQ+ and SSA individuals and their families. Lisa received a B.S. from Brigham Young University in 1990 as university valedictorian (Summa Cum Laude with Honors thesis), an M.S. in 2012 and Ph.D. in 2017, both at BYU, focusing on improving the mental health of LGBTQ+ people in conservative families and communities. Today we share helpful lessons to help you navigate family gatherings with less stress. Are you feeling a bit of anxiety and/or nervous anticipatory energy, maybe even unease, or dread?  Are there potential or recurrent disagreements or points of contention that often arise when spending time with loved ones?  Do you sometimes feel like an outsider or disconnected at family gatherings?  Are holidays much better now than they ever have been? Are you often still somewhat disappointed after family gatherings?   We encourage you to allow whatever feelings arise including potentially disappointment, disconnection, and a sense of not belonging.   What may make it harder for you to enjoy holiday gatherings?   High expectations, manuals, compare and despair, generally being givers and not receivers, and challenges having fun and relaxing.   Listen to hear about the practices of intention setting, making generous assumptions, looking for how they are just like you.     In this episode, we share many other mindful mindset practices to help you focus on fun, joy, connection and ease.
