Scripture For Today:   Colossians 4:3“And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.” What James Had to Say About Prayer pt 1For the last several sessions during the past month, we studied what the Apostle Paul taught us about prayer. That does not mean other Disciples did not teach about prayer. I did not want to infer that at all. So, let's see what some others have taught us in the Word about prayer.  We will start with the Apostle James, the Lord's brother. In James 5:13-18, we read: “Is any among you afflicted? Let him pray. Is any Merry? Let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.  Confess your faults one to another, and pray on for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous availeth much.  Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the earth by the space of three years and six months! And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain and the earth brought forth her fruit.” Notice here, what James had to say about prayer. He asks three separate questions in this passage of scripture.  First, he asks, “Is there any of you afflicted?”  Next, he asks, “Is there any of you that are merry (or happy and blessed)?  Finally, he asks, “Is there any of you that are sick?” James was talking about three different thing. For example, “afflicted” and “sick” are not the same thing. These two words as used here cannot mean the same thing because James gave two different sets of instructions, one for each of those words. He gave one instruction for the “afflicted” (Let him pray) and a different instruction for someone who was “sick” (call for the elders of the church to pray for him). The Greek word for “afflicted” in James 5:13 is not referring to illness. It is not referring to, what we call “physical afflictions” at all. “Afflicted” in this verse means “to suffer trouble.” In other words, this type of affliction is a test or trial of your faith.  James was saying that if YOU, as a believer, are being tested or tried by what we call the “storms of life,” YOU are to do YOUR OWN PRAYING.  But far too many Christians are so weak knee in their Faith, they call for others to pray for them over every little thing. Most Christians, when they are facing a test or trial of some kind, instead of going straight to the Lord in prayer; instead of taking Spiritual authority over the situation using their own Faith, they call for OTHERS to do their praying FOR THEM! Notice here, James did not say one word about getting someone else to pray for you if YOU are afflicted, tried or tested. Not ONE WORD AT ALL.  Did you ever stop to think about that? I'm going to stop there for today. I want you to ponder – and pray – about what we learned today. This will revolutionize your prayer life!   As we said before, when you start to pray according to how the BIBLE says we are to pray – you will begin to see the results the Bible says you will have. It's amazing how that works, right? Let's Pray! I couldn't think of two more different stories: In the recent award winning Nomadland: Fern (played by Frances McDormand) is grieving a life that's been ripped away from her. When the gypsum plant in her Nevada hometowon closes, the town of Empire quite literally closes with it. In six months, its entire zip code is eliminated. Meanwhile, Fern's husband dies, leaving her completely alone and “homeless.” Hitting the road in search of work as a seasonal employee at an Amazon center, Fern starts living in her van, eventually getting involved with a group of modern nomads, although she inevitably ends up alone again, traversing the American landscape. In a completely different world, another set of nomads, Bryce Leung and Kristy Shen cofounders of the millennial revolution platform, decided that they no longer wanted to toil away at a stressful, hateful job for 30-40 years, to pay off a massive mortgage, only to die of a heart-attack at their desks or be laid off without a pension. So instead of drowning in debt to buy a house in one of the most expensive cities in Canada, they rented and invested instead. For Them, Going against the status quo TOTALLY PAID OFF!   They managed to build a 7-figure portfolio, which has allowed them to retire in their 30s and travel the world! Two sets of nomads with completely different stories and motivations. Yet, are there similarities? Are there common threads that unite the story of what it means to be homeless in the ever shifting world of today. Bryce Leung and Kristy Shen are the writers behind Millennial revolution, their most recent book is Quit like a millionaire: No gimmicks, luck, or trust fund required! Bryce and Kristy,

“You must have a silver penny, To get into Fairyland…” Really? I’m not so sure. The Faerie have a very curious relationship with money, or the thing we call money. Did you know the Good People are known to give us money? They are also known to tease, taunt and test us using money. Through true tales, we discover the Faerie don’t take money as seriously as we do. For Them it is of no greater value than (and easily exchanged for) leaves or dirt. It’s just possible that their attitude toward cash currency could teach us how to live simpler, more meaningful lives. How? Tune in and find out. * PATREONTo celebrate 2 years of our Podcast (yay! did someone say cake?...), I am delighted to launch ‘Encounters with the Good People’ Patreon. In this episode we discuss three pricing strategies for tough times: 1. Consider offering more flexibility on your memberships than you typically would, but don’t overwhelm your potential members with too many options. Want evidence? Read the “jam study” here: https://hbr.org/2006/06/more-isnt-always-better 2. Try to avoid offering rock bottom pricing You can’t lure people out of their homes with deals. They either can leave the house and want to leave the house or they don’t. When they evaluate options, they want the best environment FOR THEM that they can get out of the home. Focus on consultative selling vs. price. WHY are they leaving the house? How can what you offer provide the transformation they are looking for? A better network A better office environment than they have at home A more productive day Work friends A place to record in silence 3. Don't get into a price war with the local competition. Know your strengths and know their weaknesses. If they’re doing ridiculous deals, they may be locked into very long, inflexible agreements. They may be paying for coffee and meeting rooms. Know how to make the apples to apples comparison, but even then, you might lose on price and need to sell on other strengths such as hospitality and community. Give all deals/COVID accommodations an end date. Frame them as a COVID discount and make them good for 3 months (you can always extend if you need to).

It's always felt like "the right thing to do" giving someone the benefit of the doubt. But I've noticed that it most often comes with a "story", and if you listen to me often, you know how I feel about telling yourself a story to make something ok. That story is the mark of a cognitive distortion. So here I am realizing that (for me) when I give someone the benefit of the doubt, I am making up a story FOR THEM so that I don't have to see the false, the lie, the pretend, the dishonesty. And depending on the person, I give WAY too many benefits despite the huge doubt. Anyway...here's the thought process:

Welcome to another channeled, high vibe episode my beautiful Co-Creators on Earth! ❈What does the title of this episode actually mean? Well, it means that you can't perceive whatever you perceive in your reality without first having to vibrate on that frequency. This episode continues to explain how everything that you attract in your reality is being attracted to you because you have put out that vibration in the first place and I am clarifying how therefore everything we perceive in our outside world is nothing but a reflection of our own projections. ❈This also means that we perceive the type of behavior and intentions in others we recognize as also existing within ourselves. We attack others for example for perceived danger in them that we have projected onto them first. We label particular type of things in their personality as if that's meant in any type of way which is not necessary always the case at all! We are only being triggered because it is something in others that is reflecting back to us something we also fear in ourselves. Even when all of this is still only illusionary, the danger can feel so real to you that you can go to the extremes to protect yourself from people who are not at all observed in the same type of way by others. ❈There is a saying of a wise old woman that even if you would be sleeping next to a robber and would have no fears of being robbed, that you will remain without any harm as long as you don't perceive "evil" within that person and don't vibrate on the fearful frequency of being robbed.❈Your relationships are reflecting back to you what you are putting into it. Meaning that for example wanting someone else to open up their heart to you, also means that you have to open your heart for YOURSELF and FOR THEM as well. Before you can feel the love that other people feel for you, you also have to have this love for yourself. It feels so good when you are being loved, because you deep down know that you are lovable and deserving of this love, but the belief that you are NOT worthy of love closes of your heart and leaves you and everyone else outside.❈Dive into this episode to better understand how you are creating your reality by what you are putting out into it. Why are you in a reality that doesn't feel good? Where is your self-sabotage coming from? Where is your fear of love coming from? In this episode you will find more clarification how everything first needs to grow from within before you can see it manifest in your outside reality. ❈Please do also send me all of your questions and requests for topics you want to hear me speak more in depth about! His crime, jogging in a neighborhood they felt he had no business.     In the face of these excruciating losses, and after hearing the same bigoted arguments made in justification of their deaths,  our country and, the world screamed in unison, "ENOUGH!"  We've all had enough. We're fed up with Bigotry, fed up with our communities being underserved and underrepresented and blamed for the ills that lack of support has nurtured, fed up with institutionalized, systemic racism, fed up with blatant in your face racism, inequality and injustice.   Collectively, we are tired.    Sadly, but not surprisingly, each of the guys has experienced racism and knows it's as American as Apple Pie and Baseball. It's been a hard week. If you are like me, you are home with children, doing your best to help them pass the days. It's gonna be a long old trek before we see the end of this. And here's the thing. I don't know anything about Corona virus. Except we all need to wash our hands and avoid other people. But I can help you to talk to your kids about sensitive stuff. So here's the third in a row of questions about how we make new humans! (For the other two, go here and here.) Today's question is:  ‘When my 7-year-old asks, How did you make me?,  what do I say?' For me, these questions are so fun and beautiful.  They're full of the gorgeous curiosity of childhood.  Your kid is like a scientist.  They're looking at the world around them and they want to know how it all works.  And that is just lovely.  So you can answer it in that spirit. But the first thing for YOU to figure out is this.  What are you comfy talking to your kid about? And, in fact, how *did* you make them? Did you have sex? Did you do IVF?  Did you adopt? or use a donor? or something else?  And: if you had sex to make your kid, are you still with your partner?  Maybe you aren't.  Maybe you never really were. Or maybe you are, and you live with them, and they're in the next room. A kid who is 7 is absolutely able to understand the basics.  That everyone in the world was made with a sperm, an egg, and a uterus.  And that we're all made in different ways (and how cool is that).  So it's about you figuring out what YOUR story is, and how much you're comfortable sharing.  And - by the way - you're allowed to keep some stuff private, for yourself.  (I have a funny story about how *I* learned that, in today's video.) So this question from your 7-year-old is a really cool, joyful thing. You can say to your kid, how happy you are that they asked you! And that they've got a scientist's brain.  And that, actually, a lot of grown-ups feel awkward talking about this stuff because they weren't taught how to talk about it.  But you're so glad they asked.  (Because we know how important it is to talk about these things. For THEM to receive the info they need, and for YOU to learn how to chat about it.  Even if it feels a bit awkward.) So - these are wonderful convos to have! :) And we're happy to give you some tools to help you feel more confident and comfortable having them.  watch this episode here or listen to the podcast version which is now up on Itunes and Spotify. x Sarah Ps. My guest on this week’s podcast episode, Samantha Goldsmith is a serial entrepreneur who has created a number of successful business whether that was in real estate, multi-level marketing or as strategist. Ever since she was little she was raised to be an overachiever which brought her a lot of success early on, but also left her constantly unsatisfied. As a recovering perfectionist her desire is to help women embrace their uniqueness and find solutions that work FOR THEM. Samantha shares her story of how being an overachiever left her feeling, empty, unsatisfied, unworthy and made her experience health issues. She teaches you how she created more ease, self-love and respect for oneself. If you are constantly doing things, being busy, trying to move forward and achieve the next result, but end up feeling frustrated, empty, insignificant, not enough and burnt out, this is an episode you need to listen to. We mistake our worth with achievements. We mistake being busy with moving forward. What may seem like the same thing on the first glance, is fundamentally different in real life. We as human beings have the inner urge to grow, to advance and to prosper in life. And when you were raised to be an achiever, it goes against your programming to not do anything. You need to be doing something. You need to get results. You need to be significant. But here’s the deal, just because you do a lot, doesn’t mean you’re actually advancing or growing in any way. And it certainly doesn't say anything about your worth! It just means that you are constantly spending your energy on things. Whether it is helping you or not is a totally different story. For Samantha success is defined in a different way now. Today, she looks at how she can achieve her goals with more ease and less time spent on it. How did she manage to twist her approach 180° and become even more successful? Find out in this week’s episode where Samantha and I talk about how to switch gears form busyness into actual forward movement separate your worth from the results you’re getting find true respect for yourself create more time freedom for yourself apply the 1 thing that will push your business forward the importance of grit in creating what it is you want

Explore Your Enthusiasm, with Tara Swiger | Craft | Art | Business

In today's rebroadcast I'm sharing why (and some tips on how) to stop seeking approval so that you can build a great business. You can find the original episode here. Here’s a dichotomy: You want to listen to your customers and your audience, to give them what they want, to create an awesome business. But yet, needing their approval has you frozen or afraid or feeling kinda needy. How do you balance this? In the last week of 2017, I did a live video (you can watch it at the show notes for podcast189) about the lessons I learned in 2017. It was very honest, very vulnerable and one of the lessons I shared REALLY resonated with a lot of viewers, so I wanted to explore it deeper with you. The lesson I learned in 2017: I am not here for your approval. Whoa! How do you feel when I say that? Do you feel defensive? Upset? I’ve found that some people just nod along, “Yeah, duh Tara.” And others go: “WAIT A MINUTE! BUT I’M A CUSTOMER (or listener).” Your reaction is super useful! Not for me (because this is all about me trying to unhook from your reactions to my work) - but for YOU. How you react to other people needing approval can help you explore how you feel about needing other people’s approval. So before we go further, stop and think: Do I think I need my audience (or client’s) approval? Do I think I owe them something more than just the product? Either answer is ok! Write down your answer and just set it aside for now - this may be a lesson you need to learn, or it may not. One of the things that keeps coming up when I chat about this with y’all is: Yeah, ok, I know I need to not seek outside approval (for my own mental health!)...but: aren’t I supposed to care about making my customers delighted? Isn’t that what you teach, when you talk about Right People and listening to them? Yes! Exactly! This is exactly what I’ve struggled with over the years. The dichotomy is this: I am here to serve you. And yet to do that sustainably (ie, not get burnt out + to create new, useful stuff that only I can create) I need to not be hooked into your approving (or not approving). So let’s break this down: I am here to serve you: When you think about your audience, it’s important that you’re focused on your RIGHT people - the people who truly want and need the thing you offer. So you are NOT here to serve your family members who “don’t get it”. You’re not here to serve the other people who do what you do. And you’re not even here to serve ALL the people who like what you do. For example, ever since I started doing this 8 years ago, I’ve been working with makers who have already STARTED their biz. So if you are a maker who doesn’t know what you wanna do yet - My products and my biz isn’t really built to support you. Can you get a lot out of my podcast? According to you: absolutely! But am I going to offer products for you? Not really! Recently, I started talking more about mental health and wellness and self-care. If you’re a person who just wants the super-measurable profitability stuff....I’m probably not the person who is going to most serve you. Are you going to enjoy some of my stuff: absolutely! Are you going to be happy with everything I do? Probably not! When I talk about listening to your audience, it helps to PRIORITIZE people’s feedback. Your Customers, re: the product they bought. I listen 100% to my customers about the product they purchased. If you’re in the Starship and you want me to create a directory of SS captains (a real request I just got) - I will do it. Your paying customers re: the next things you make FOR THEM. (Not everything you do!) The people who follow you and encourage you - this is where it gets tricky. If they aren’t paying for your product, you can ask them what you could change to make it appeal, but you can’t make biz decisions based on them because guess what? They might NEVER buy! So! It’s possible to listen to your people and YET, not hook your self-worth or your decision making into seeking their approval. HOW? You make decisions on two levels: Macro: big picture, like the overall direction you’re going, your mission, the TYPE of biz you wanna have. Micro: the daily decisions you make, the way you word your marketing, the topics I cover on the podcast. So for the Macro: do you For the Micro: listen in. Write your marketing copy using the words your customers use. Take pictures from the angles they respond to. Post more content on IG that they enjoy! Answer their actual questions on your sales page. The other way of saying it is in the process of creating and doing something: START WITH YOU. Decide what you want, no matter outside opinion. THAT is your filter, that is your standards. When you listen to your audience, filter it through your own decisions for what you wanna do. For example, if you want me to change the macro of my business (for example), not work with doTERRA to share essential oils anymore. Well, that’s a macro decision, so I need to make it. But if you want me to hold a webinar about how to use oils for goal-setting, there you go! That’s a micro - it passes through my filter and is easy for me to do. And finally, if you’ve made a decision and your audience doesn’t like it: Stop listening. Especially to negative feedback. Often, it doesn’t even need a response. Just delete the email, especially if it’s in any way un-constructive. If it is genuine and they’re trying to be helpful, you can simply say “thank you”. And if they seem to want more from you - like they want you to admit that they’re right and you should do what they say, I have literally replied “I’m not looking for your approval.” I very much wanted to explain my hierarchy of who I listen to...but what’s the point? But I want to talk about this because I know a lot of you WORRY about it - far more of you worry about it than have actually experienced it. And I want you to know: I have worried about it FAR MORE than I’ve ever experienced it. To prepare for this, I listed out every negative “I wish you wouldn’t do that” email I’ve gotten this year (because you know every one is burned in my memory) and you know how many it was? 4. I added a whole new income stream, one in a biz model that has a negative reputation (because other companies in the industry are predatory)...and I speak to 4-5k people every week and I got 4 negative emails. That’s 1/1000. That’s .1%. Isn’t that crazy? So many of make decisions to avoid conflict with 0.1% The fact of the matter is - you’re worried about the disapproval you’re never going to receive. It’s holding you back (it’s holding us all back). So this year, in 2018, I want you to shine that light. I want you to make those big decisions, I want you to go in the direction of your dreams. I want you to create a business that delights it’s customers but is not reliant on outside approval, because you trust YOURSELF.   Listen in at TaraSwiger.com/podcast270

I hear a lot of excuses from people about why they can't do something, or why they won't succeed. The most common are: I don't have enough time. I have kids. I have no money. I can't afford it. Etc. Those excuses should be the exact REASONS why you are going to do whatever you're making those excuses about. Make sense?! Turn those excuses into your fuel, turn them into your motivation, turn them into your WHY you are going to succeed at something. So that you can START having MORE time! So you can START having MORE money! So you can START doing things with your kids and showing them how much they mean to you bc you're doing what you're doing FOR THEM. The very excuses that you have are what needs to CHANGE. Don't just except having no money as the reason why you can't learn how to make more. Its the REASON why you need to learn something to help you make more! NO more excuses, only reason why you're going to do what it takes to succeed. Much love and appreciation! Alicia

But does not destroy (right motives). There is a “healing hurt”. It causes reflection and healthy action. Covenant is a powerful addition! Example: Spiritual family; special friends, customers, clients, partners, etc. Violations: Adultery; Abuse; Abandonment Covenant relationships are not all the same. [i.e. marriage vs. core friendships, spiritual family relationships] Covenant relationships demand unconditional love, forgiveness, grace, but not unconditional everything! [Becoming mentally, emotionally, financially non-dependent on their natural or spiritual parents.] NOTE: No direct command regarding this. No “one size fits all” instruction. Here are some principles: ADVOCATE: Become their chief prayer warrior. Pray for their motivational healing; right relationships; protection; success. AFFIRM: Become their “biggest fan”. Assure them you are FOR THEM! ADDRESS: At the right time, right way. With wisdom and self-control, set guidelines, boundaries; you are not their security, supplier or even “fall back” source. It is okay to help, not healthy to become their enabler/disabler. But, continue to AFFIRM their value.

One of the biggest challenges facing real estate agents today is trying to stay productive. It’s difficult because even if you’re days are filled with tasks it doesn’t mean you’re actually accomplishing the growth you desire. Being busy does not mean you are being effective! Do you understand the difference? Are you driving your business or driving yourself crazy? Find out on this week’s episode of the Agent Rise Podcast. Play to your strengths Something I say all the time, whether it’s on the podcast or in coaching, is that in order to succeed as a real estate agent you have to develop a clear business plan that’s congruent to you. You will never stay productive if you don’t. However, it’s incredibly important that we define what “congruent to you” means as you develop your plan. In simple terms, it means to play to your strengths. You can’t simply copy the strategy of a successful agent on your team and call it a day. Their plan works for them because it is FOR THEM. Just because geo-farming is how one agent rises to the top does not mean you will have the same level of success. You may need a more fast-paced approach and get better results with online leads. The “what” does not matter nearly as much as the “who”. Just remember, the most important ingredient in developing a successful business plan is YOU. Invest in self-discovery Too many realtors have invested a ton of precious time and resources into playing the wrong game. They’ve either borrowed someone else's successful business plan assuming it will bring them equal success or they hear a strategy they like and assume that because they like it they’ll be good at it. Yet, year after year their growth is non-existent and their income bracket stagnates. Don’t let that be you! Before you can play to your strengths you have to know what your strengths are. Sometimes it’s hard to see that for yourself and that’s where coaching can be an invaluable resource. Rushing into action with a half-baked business plan will cost you more than investing in self-discovery ever will. Stop missing the mark and figure out what works best for you instead of relying on assumptions. Clear your mental calendar A few weeks ago, I brought up the idea that a lot of us are busier in our heads than we are on our calendars. If you want to stay productive you have to clear out the junk in your mind. I know how hard it is to stop thinking about every minute detail of our business. It’s so easy to be consumed by thoughts that steal our joy and keep us from moving forward. We have to learn how to command negativity to leave and only focus on what we can control. Stop worrying and let go of what you can’t change. It’s not worth the stress and anxiety you’re creating. By clearing your mental calendar you will finally start working ON your business instead of always working in it. Give yourself permission to rest It may seem contradictory, but one of the biggest components of staying productive is learning how to rest. Rest is what enables you to recharge and allows you to breathe fresh life into your real estate business. If you’re constantly tired and on the edge of burnout you will only be able to strive for mediocrity as a means of survival. However, if you give yourself the space to unplug and enjoy life you will find that there is no limit to your potential. Learn how to set healthy boundaries for yourself by prioritizing fun, relaxation, and even sleep. After all, how are you ever going to dream big if you don’t sleep enough? JESUS TELLS THE STORY OF THE WAYWARD SON LUKE 15:11-32 NKJV Then He said: "A certain man had two sons. 12 "And the younger of them said to [his] father, 'Father, give me the portion of goods that falls [to me].' So he divided to them [his] livelihood. SON SQUANDERS INHERITANCE 13 "And not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living. 14 "But when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want. 15 "Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 "And he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him [anything]. SON COMES TO HIMSELF 17 "But when he came to himself, he said, 'How many of my father's hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 18 'I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, 19 "and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants."  FATHER ANTICIPATES AND PREPARES FOR RETURN - HE RUNS 20 "And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, HIS FATHER SAW HIM and HAD COMPASSION, and RAN and FELL ON HIS NECK and KISSED HIM. 21 "And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.' FATHER THROWS A MEMORABLE PARTY 22 "BUT the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the BEST ROBE and put [it] on him, and put a RING on his hand and SANDALS on [his] feet. 23 'And bring the FATTED CALF here and kill [it], and let us EAT AND BE MERRY; 24 'for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' And they began to be merry. OLDER SON FEELS NEGLECTED 25 "Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard MUSIC AND DANCING. 26 "So he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. 27 "And he said to him, 'Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf.'   OLDER SON REFUSES TO PARTICIPATE – FATHER REQUESTS 28 "But HE WAS ANGRY and WOULD NOT GO IN. Therefore his father came out and PLEADED with him. 29 "So he answered and said to [his] father, 'Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave ME a young goat, that I might make merry with MY friends. 30 'But as soon as this SON OF YOURS came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.' 31 "And he said to him, 'Son, YOU ARE ALWAYS WITH ME, and ALL THAT I HAVE IS YOURS. 32 'It was right that WE SHOULD MAKE MERRY and BE GLAD, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.' The Lord's Supper On Thursday evening, Jesus gathered with the apostles in an upper room where they could have time for Jesus' last instruction before he would be killed. Jesus would will teach, show his disciples how to love. Judas will betray him. The religious rulers would lie and drag Jesus off to trial. But before all of that, Jesus planned to show his disciples what he was about to do and what it meant to them. Luke‬ ‭22‬:‭14-20‬ ESV Jesus had told his disciples on numerous occasions that he would be handed over to the Gentiles, be mocked, insulted, spit upon, flogged, killed and after three days - raised to life again. But here he tells them that his death was FOR THEM. They would benefit from his death. Jesus was bringing about a new covenant with God. In the old covenant, each man had to offer sacrifices for his own sin. In the new covenant, Jesus was God's offering of all of mankind's sin. Luke‬ ‭23‬:‭33-34 ESV Luke‬ ‭23‬:‭44-46 ESV After Jesus suffered mocking, flogging, insults, and ultimately six hours on the cross, he gave up his life. Through his suffering, through his death, we find forgiveness for our sins. He took on the punishment that we all deserved so that God could show us grace and mercy. Jesus died so that you could live. His death was for you, if you have come to believe in him and in what he said about his own death and resurrection. 1 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭28-29‬ ESV Have you believed? Jesus predicted everything that would happen to him. He went voluntarily to the cross. He laid his life down for you. His death was for you. 1 Corinthians‬ ‭11‬:‭23-26‬ ESV The Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. Message Luke‬ ‭24‬:‭1-12‬ ESV V. 1 Jesus had been crucified on Friday. This was Sunday. The women prepared spices and perfumes to take to the tomb, like we send flowers today, spices and perfumes were their custom to honor the dead. V2. The first indication of the resurrection. The rock was large, in another gospel, the women talk on the way to the tomb about who they might find to help. In another gospel, we're told that the Romans posted guard outside the tomb. But the stone was rolled away. V. 3. Jesus' body was not there. V. 4. Two mean I clothes that shined like lightning - angels. V 5. The sight of the angels frightened the women. But one of the angels said, why do you look for the living among the dead? V. 6 he is not here; he has risen! Remember what he told you? V. 7 he said he would be crucified and raised on the third day Jesus is risen! His death and resurrection are demonstrated in the act of baptism and in observing the Lord's Supper. His death is for you if you have come to believe in him and that he paid the penalty for your sins. If you have never believed before, if you have never asked God to accept Jesus' death as an offering for your sin, I'm going to give you the opportunity today. Please bow your heads. If you have never asked God to forgive you and ask Jesus to come and five you new life, would you today? Jesus death was for you, but only for those who believe in him and in what he did as a gift, for you to be forgiven by God, and find reconciliation with the Father. God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my to save me. Thank you Lord, for forgiving me! Amen!
