Welcome to Episode 107 of Tablesetters! The MLB postseason has finally arrived, and we are diving deep into all four Wild Card matchups, exploring the stakes, storylines, and keys that could determine who advances. We begin in the Bronx with Yankees against Red Sox, a rivalry that has defined October baseball for decades. These two have met six times in the postseason since 1999, and Boston has claimed victory in the last three. This time New York counters with Max Fried, Carlos Rodón, and the most powerful lineup in the game. The question is whether Boston's bullpen and the brilliance of Garrett Crochet can once again swing the balance in their favor. Next comes Padres against Cubs, their first postseason encounter since 1984. San Diego brings elite strikeout arms and perhaps the strongest bullpen in baseball, while Chicago leans on depth, defense, and the unshakable energy of Wrigley Field. This series could turn entirely on who controls the late innings. In the Central, it is Guardians against Tigers, a matchup that feels transformed from their earlier meetings. Cleveland enters October riding one of the hottest Septembers in recent memory, while Detroit boasts the ace of the year in Tarik Skubal. It is a contest between momentum and sustained excellence. Out West we find the underdog story: Reds against Dodgers. The defending champions return armed with Ohtani, Betts, and Freeman, but Cincinnati has a blueprint of its own with Hunter Greene's overpowering fastball and Terry Francona's postseason expertise. The real question is whether the Reds can strike early and rewrite the script. Throughout the episode we cover what truly decides these short series: rotation matchups, bullpen sequencing, defensive sharpness, and the single swing that can turn a season. October baseball is defined by chaos, and the Wild Card round is the first spark. Follow us on Instagram and X @tablesetterspod, subscribe to the show, and share with your baseball circle. The road to the World Series begins now.
EPISODE REUPLOADED due to a technical issue. The headlines scream about five matches for Ange without a win, but for many fans, the worries go deeper. This was a performance lacking in intensity and direction, and save for twenty minutes after making a host of changes, Forest did not threaten the visitors' goal. George and Baz discuss the game, whether Ange is already in trouble, and if he has already lost the fans. The view from the opposition comes from Gav of Ha'way The Podcast and Roker Report. Send us a textSPECIAL NOTE: SEASON 15 OF THE GOOD, THE POD AND THE UGLY CELEBRATES THE USE OF THE PRACTICAL AND DIGITAL EFFECT KNOWN AS THE SQUIB. IRL GUN VIOLENCE IS INTOLERABLE AND RENOUNCED BUT... CINEMATIC VIOLENCE WILL BE CELEBRATED IN A WAY THAT MAY DISTURB SOME LISTENERS. What's the rumpus? This week TGTPTU gives the Coen Brothers movie classic MILLER'S CROSSING (1990) the treatment as part of its Squib Season, see. Lensed by Barry Sonnenfeld in his last frolic as the brothers' cinematographer, Ethan Coen told the man with a golden eye that Miller's Crossing should be a handsome film about men in hats, and Sonnenfeld delivers the goods with one spectacularly shot period piece from the Prohibition Era. The picture stars Gabriel Byrne as Tom Reagan, the hard-drinking, harder-gambling Irish consigliere who knows all the angles, who's having an affair with his boss's skirt Verna Bernbaum (played by Marcia Gay Harden, who shortly after filming would originate the role of Harper Pitt in Tony Kushner's two-part play Angels in America, see Season 7 of TGTPTU for more!). Pod favorite John Turturro plays her brother Bernie, a conniving low-life crook who causes the friction in the ranks and can turn on the waterworks when needed. Jon Polito plays a loving dad allergic to the high-hat and with his right-hand J. E. Freeman playing the Dane (same year he'd star in Wild at Heart, see Season 4) they plan to take over the town from Albert Finney in one of his two roles as Tom's boss Leo (the other appearance uncredited, spoilers during the episode for this Easter egg). Also, director and occasional second-unit-for-the-Coens-director Sam Raimi (and, can you believe it, brother of actor Ted Raimi from Hard Target covered earlier this Squib Games season!) shows up to plug a speakeasy patron grabbing air before himself getting gatted. And if you still haven't had your fill, at this buffet of talent we even get a smattering of Steve Buscemi delivering ratatat dialogue for a scene. This ep, Jack brings the book report, Thomas the Danish facts, Ken reenacts the experience of watching Miller's Crossing with him by dropping movie quotes throughout the episode, Ryan brings up Gabriel Byrne's acting chops, and all four hosts harmonize on the greater good. Now get outta here. You're stinking up the joint. The Los Angeles Dodgers shut out the DBacks to clinch another National League West title. Yoshinobu Yamamoto capped off an amazing season with six scoreless innings, the bullpen was lights out, and LA got huge hits from Freddie Freeman (two homers), Shohei Ohtani (his 54th homer), Andy Pages (home run), and Mookie Betts (two-out, two-run single to break the game open early). Now the Dodgers head to Seattle for a relatively meaningless series against the Mariners. Clint Pasillas and Jeff Snider talk about what they're looking to see from individual players in this series. Well that was quite the ride wasn't it? Reds fans took over corners of Seville and had their first European night in thirty years. They were rewarded by a stellar first half display, despite going a goal down after 15 mins; but Igor Jesus' quickfire double saw the supporters in dreamland, both in the stadium and watching back home. Unfortunately the subs were telling; Betis made three half-time changes and Forest were forced into replacing Douglas Luiz, and that gave impetus to the Spaniards. Nonetheless, Matz Sels was largely untroubled until the last 10-15 mins, and Antony's late strike ensured a share of the spoils on a memorable night. Steven Toplis is joined by a tired and hoarse Tom Newton, who had sampled the delights of Seville and revelled in the Reds' European journey. The so-called delusions of a long-dead science fiction writer may have turned out to be prophecies. Philip K Dick and the ongoing collapse and reordering of our reality. As the world grows darker, colder and more lawless every minute of every day, all you can do is laugh at the fools ushering in a new Dark Archonic Age. The old state cults will be re-established under the cover of Woke. The world is powered by sorcerers and not scientists. Despite what the aging acolytes of the Enlightenment might wish, computers have only strengthened the power of the supernatural on this world. A lot of people tend not to realize that we are dealing with Forces taken extremely seriously throughout our history, by men with far more brains, discernment and life-experience than any of our current crop of over-privileged academic idiots could even dream of. Worries that seemed like paranoid delusions in 2016 about the dangers of high-tech control are now national mandates. And there's also the inexplicable sudden interest the elite media has in the UFO topic to factor in, despite near-total disinterest on the public's part. Kevin Freeman traces the arc from 1980s optimism — thousands of investable public companies and rapid innovation — to today's halved stock count amid soaring GDP and population. He argues that financialization, heavy regulation (SOX, Dodd-Frank), and abundant private capital pushed companies to stay private, widening the wealth gap and fueling socialist sentiment. Examples like Uber illustrate how gains accrue privately while retail investors face late access and higher risk; meanwhile, dollar debasement and the Cantillon effect amplify inequality. Freeman advocates restoring opportunity via sound money (state gold/silver initiatives), lighter but fair regulation, stronger IP protection, and expanded public access to high-growth firms, urging policy action to revive broad-based capitalism.
Logan breaks down how he defines and tracks “meaningful conversations” (about 100 per month) to focus only on activities that move deals forward. He explains his Kansas City strategy, why creative structures beat chasing yesterday's cap rates, and how he blends AI with CRE fundamentals to deliver same-day portfolio and market analyses clients love. Key Topics Meaningful conversations → measurable pipeline: How Logan defines, tracks, and protects time for high-value chats with owners, investors, vendors, and tenants. “Land squatting” for flex industrial: Adapting Neil Bawa's idea—option raw land, drive entitlements/rezoning, line up build-to-suit users, and package “paper lots” or fully approved sites. AI as an edge (with verification): Using frameworks, proprietary data, and tools to create 10–12 page portfolio audits in ~35 minutes—then spot-checking outputs before client delivery. Why Kansas City works: Affordability, logistics (rail and 2-day truck reach to ~80% of the U.S.), supply-constrained multifamily, and surging data-center development. - Get Interviewed on the Show! - ================================== Are you a real estate investor with some 'tales from the trenches' you'd like to share with our audience? Partner on this video: KYIV OF MINE Watch the trailer now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arJUcE1rxY0'Kyiv of Mine' is a documentary series about Ukraine's beautiful capital, Kyiv. The film production began in 2018, and much has changed since then. It is now 2025, and this story is far from over.https://www.youtube.com/@UCz6UbVKfqutH-N7WXnC5Ykg https://www.kyivofmine.com/#theprojectKyiv of Mine is fast paced, beautifully filmed, humorous, fun, insightful, heartbreaking, moving, hopeful. The very antithesis in fact of a doom-laden and worthy wartime documentary. This is a work that is extraordinarily uplifting. My friend Operator Starsky says the film is “Made with so much love. The film series will make you laugh and cry.” ----------Colin Freeman is a former chief foreign correspondent of The Sunday Telegraph, and is now a freelance foreign affairs journalist.
