Welcome to the Fore Golfers Network/Michigan Golf Live Podcast Ep 468 - Golf Etiquette Tips for New Golfers with Mr. Golf Etiquette Bill Hobson sits down with Jim Corbett, widely known as Mr. Golf Etiquette, to dive deep into the essential etiquette every golfer—especially new ones—needs to know. With decades of experience as a caddy and a lifelong passion for the game, Jim shares his personal journey and why golf etiquette is more than just tradition—it's about respect, pace, and preserving the enjoyment of the game for everyone. From the practice green to the clubhouse, this conversation emphasizes how small choices—like respecting music volume or minimizing practice swings—can significantly enhance the golf experience for others. They also touch on one of the biggest complaints in golf today: pace of play. Jim offers simple, practical tips for speeding up your round without compromising your game, like limiting time spent looking for lost balls and being intentional with your shots. You'll even hear a few hilarious and heartfelt stories, including hole-in-one tales and reflections on the "7 Habits of Highly Effective Golfers." Can we all agree that Liquid Death is the king of the CPG industry when it comes to brand collaborations? It's newest LTO merch offering solves a major golf etiquette problem…especially for those that “had one too many” Liquid Death and believe golf courses are essentially just massive public bathrooms. Now…instead of always running to the woods to pee, golfers can whizz right on the course in front of everyone. To make this public urination dream become a reality, Liquid Death partnered with not only Bad Birdie (one of the most disruptive golf apparel brands), but also one of the first entrepreneurs/inventors to get a deal on the first season of Shark Tank. And if you were wondering, The Uro Club is essentially a urinal for golfers, disguised as a golf club. Do you ever feel like your faith and politics are at odds? Join me, Stephen Feith, as I navigate this turbulent intersection in our latest episode of "Outrageous Faith." Reflecting on the divisive nature of recent elections, I'll share how our faith should be the guiding lens through which we view political issues, rather than letting politics dictate our beliefs. We'll explore how to maintain a Christlike demeanor amidst heated debates and focus on embracing an unapologetically bold faith that prioritizes core Christian values over personal attacks.Imagine the commitment of Christian missionaries who packed their belongings in coffins, symbolizing a one-way dedication to their mission. In "Ambassadors and Missionaries," we draw parallels between these early efforts and the role of modern Christians as ambassadors of Christ. Our mission isn't just for personal salvation but to share grace and help others reconcile with God. By diving into historical contexts and sharing powerful anecdotes, we underscore the importance of emotional and spiritual healing and our ultimate allegiance to Jesus.Ever played golf and found unexpected camaraderie on the course? In "Golf Etiquette and Teamwork in Faith," we use a lighthearted golf story to highlight the importance of unity and collaboration within God's kingdom. From trash-talking to teamwork, this experience serves as a metaphor for being kingdom ambassadors in Madison. Finally, in "Driven by Compassion," we'll celebrate the remarkable initiatives taken by members of our faith community, encouraging everyone to recognize their potential to contribute meaningfully, regardless of perceived shortcomings. PART TWO of the conversation with Tori, Kim, Tara and Pat as they continue their discussion on tournament must-knows in the wake of their time at the Desert Classic. This time, they dive into their top five etiquette rules that every tournament player needs to keep in mind. Key Moments ● (02:36) Show up if you made a commitment. That means all two or three days of the tournament! It even includes individual tournaments, no matter how poorly you're performing because, as Kim reminds us, “You have to take the good with the bad.” By demonstrating that you have the integrity and gumption to stick with it no matter what, you'll almost always be invited to play another tournament. ● (06:56) Don't step in someone else's putting line. It's almost always unintentional, but it will throw off a lot of players. ● (08:49) Always ask whether to have the flag in or out on the first hole. A lot of players won't care either way, but it's always best practice to ask. ● (10:10) Always ask whether players want to play ready golf or honors. Some players like to start with honors, others don't. But when it comes to the putting green, always go with honors. ● (14:35) Always ask before playing music. The rule of thumb here is, the more serious the tournament, the less appropriate it is to play music. In a similar vein, try not to be on your phone for too much of the game, as this will likewise distract the other players. ● (18:25) Help others in the group look for lost balls. Aside from basic etiquette, making the effort to look for a lost ball helps with pace of play. Once the player gets to the location, they have three minutes to look for the ball until it's considered lost. ● (20:53) Fixing ball marks and filling sand divots. And don't just fix and fill yours. Fix and fill two more. On the 18th Hole of 2020, Golf Etiquette 101 with Tiz. Paul Braun and Dennis Tiziani host The Golf Affect Radio Show
Golf....A "gentlemen's game" indeed. But for a much different reason that you'd think. When golfing, it is expected that those partaking follow an unspoken set of rules referred to as Golf Etiquette. It includes everything from proper attire, to what order players should be expected to hit their ball based on current score, etc. But the most compelling rule that falls under the "Etiquette" umbrella?"Fore"The universal term to be yelled as a warning by the player who just failed...big time. It lets the other players know that you're coming in hot, and that it may be best to duck down, or cover up your head as to avoid injury. It made me really respect the game a little more using this angle to reflect.Show me a culture/society where someone can not only fail, miss, struggle....and continue forward, but they can go as far as to YELL it out so others are aware of their missteps. To advertise their shortcomings. Then, something magical happens. Nothing. No belittling, no name calling, no cancel culture. No finger pointing, or spinning the blame on something else. Just gentlemen being gentlemen. If failure was recognized as the every day part of life it actually is, rather than being viewed as a detriment to our character or an opportunity to get ahead of that person....No one would be so afraid to yell "Fore"#worldetiquette

Your actions on the golf course will say the most about you as a golfer - much more than your golf clubs or score ever will. Etiquette has to do with manners. Golfers should show courtesy and sportsmanship at all times to their playing partners. The game of golf has a rich heritage based on a code of honor and proper etiquette. No other sport played by millions of amateurs worldwide and professionals for millions of dollars in prize money has a system of penalties whereby the player is required to call penalties on themselves. There are a few rules of golf etiquette that apply all the time, while others are specific to certain areas of the course. This guide is designed to help the reader understand the basic elements of golf etiquette and what is expected of them when they play a round of golf.Remember, golf is a game. My hope is that you will remember and enjoy using these golf etiquette tips.
