Ho, ho, ho! But that's enough from Jabba.  It's that time of year again, when thoughts turn to families, feasting, and festivities. Yes, it's the Vintage Rebellion Christmas Special!   Kicking things off in fine style we take a look back at vintage gifts received, the good, the bad, and the ugly.  The team then consider casting their own nativity play - Star Wars style, of course.   The New Acquisitions section sees Jason back on fine form with a list as long as Santa's, and the other lads also picking up some pre-Christmas goodies.  There's a Carol service with the boys singing the praises of their favourite items this year, and a Christmas dinner with the tastiest treats of 2024 from around the collecting world.   Spoons is joined by a very special guest for a geographical Quiz, and there's a heartfelt session of gift giving and receiving between the podcast crew, with everyone firmly in the Christmas spirit.   In Rebel Briefings we hear Echoes and go Farthest From, get excited about Retro, put action figures where the sun don't shine, talk popular and dilapidated figures, mourn the passing of Greg Hildebrandt and Brian Turner, and get to the bones of Skeleton Crew.   With plenty of festive fun and frolics to boot, we wish all our listeners all the very best for the festive season, however you may celebrate it.  Look out for the podcast in all the usual places, and tell your friends!

Fabio Fiori from Tatooine Times and I do a joint interview with renowned artist Greg Hildebrandt on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Shadows of the Empire, the ‘movie without a movie,' launched by Lucasfilm in the spring of 1996. There was a novel by Steve Perry for Del Rey, a comic adaptation by Dark Horse, a video game for the Nintendo 64, a toy line by Kenner, a Soundtrack and of course, a Topps Card set. Greg, and his brother Tim, were tapped to produce 100 paintings for their portion of the event for Topps. The set would debut in September of that year and their turnaround time for completion of the work was only 4 and a half months. But short deadlines were nothing new to the brothers and they turned out an amazing set of paintings used for the card set. In addition to portions of this interview, Fabio will have a number of special articles and interviews covering the full spectrum of the 25th Anniversary of Shadows of the Empire that will appear on Tatooine Times starting the week of May 10th. The Ghosts of Christmas Eve . Alan and Shawn are pleased to welcome Greg Hildebrandt to the Prancing Pony Podcast! An iconic artist and illustrator, Greg (together with his twin brother Tim as the Brothers Hildebrandt) helped a generation of readers visualize Middle-earth in the Ballantine Books J.R.R. Tolkien Calendars from 1976 to 1978, and continues to create fantasy and sci-fi art to this day. Greg talked to us about his art and shared some incredible stories from his long and celebrated career, including the story behind the poster for some obscure 1970s movie called Star Wars.

The original STAR WARS poster art created by the Hildebrandt Brothers in 1977 is arguably the most iconic and recognizable symbol of the saga. We are honored to be joined by one half of the duo responsible for its creation as Greg Hildebrandt joins us IN THE CANTINA to fill us in on the background and history of this well-known work of art. Disney’s Bob “The Buck Stops Here” Iger revealed to the Hollywood Reporter a slowdown is coming for STAR WARS as the studio will be pulling back on its up-to-now aggressive release schedule. We discuss what this means beyond EPISODE IX and how it may affect the announced Rian Johnson trilogy. Plus, a closer look at the Anthony Daniels cameo in SOLO, we remember Gary Kurtz, and we continue our search for the “new” Wilhelm Scream.
