Ever feel like your friendship is taking more out of you than it gives? If you've ever found yourself stuck in a relationship that feels draining, toxic, or just plain bad, you're in the right place. In this episode of Love, Happiness & Success, I'm sitting down with Dr. Marisa Franco, a brilliant psychologist and bestselling author of Platonic, to talk about one of the toughest aspects of relationships—knowing when a friendship is no longer serving you. Together, we'll dive into the signs of toxic friends, how attachment styles play a role in our friendships, and whether or not these kinds of relationships can be saved. You'll learn practical strategies to spot the red flags, approach difficult conversations with kindness and clarity, and—if it comes to it—find the courage to end friendships that have run their course. Here's what we cover: [00:00] The Friendship Trap: Why difficult friendships are harder to leave than romantic ones. [03:57] Attachment Styles in Friendships: How your past impacts your present friendships. [11:40] Making Positive Changes: How to recognize toxic patterns and start healing. [17:34] Conflict or Goodbye? How to assess if this friendship can be saved. [28:21] Deciding to End a Friendship: When enough is enough, and how to let go with grace. If you've ever wondered whether a friendship is worth fighting for or it's time to walk away, this episode is for you. Ready to dig deeper? Take my free self-esteem quiz to see how your self-worth might be impacting your relationships: How Healthy is Your Self-Esteem? Also, I'd love for you to join me for this week's YouTube Livestream on Thursday at 12 pm MT, where we'll talk even more about navigating toxic friendships. ✅ How Healthy is Your Leadership? Take this short and free quiz to find out. //  https://www.emotionallyhealthy.org/leadership-assessment/ ----------------------   Churches have all kinds of expectations of pastors and church leaders. There is a certain pressure that you must be able to cast vision, teach and preach, lead and inspire staff and volunteers, build teams, and keep ministry momentum in all areas. The problem? Everything on this list is EXTERNAL. Very few churches and pastors see their INTERNAL life with God as part of their job description. For this reason, we must become increasingly serious about leading from a deep inner life with God (not just gifting and skill). On today's podcast, I will share some of what I've been sharing with many pastors. How we should design every part of our lives (rest, work, prayer, and relationships) around the love of God.

Dan and Ian explore the concept of power in business and how businesses can transition from being a grind for the owner to having sustainable pricing power. Derived from the book 'Seven Powers' by Hamilton Helmer, they delve into the idea of cornered resources as a source of power and discuss examples of cornered resources such as patents, unique brain trust, and exclusive partnerships. You'll be challenged to consider how you can identify and leverage counter positioning, networked effects, distribution, and brand to sustain margins and pricing power over time. This is an essential conversation for building and maintaining a competitive advantage in any industry. How do you decide when you'd like to have sex or when you don't? How do you make those kinds of decisions in a way that is empowering and not fall prey to the myths that exist? Dealing with grief and healing. Grief is the response to any perceived loss. Krista, who works mostly with widows, says that the main issue she sees is the problematic idea that there is a certain way to go through grief. It is an experience unique to every person who goes through it. We are not well informed when it comes to grief, so layering sex on top of the strict timeline of healing people subject themselves to makes things go from bad to worse. The intersection of sex and grief A typical myth concerning the loss of a spouse is that what the bereaved wants is not really sex, but just the physical connection to another human. In reality, only that individual can know what they want and need at any moment in time. Often, people will try to fill an emotional void with sex. If sex is something one wants, it's because they want it, not because they're incomplete without it. 8 myths about sex and grief As people we will always have a response to grief, and over time we can change our response and adapt to life such that it becomes integrated and no longer an obstacle. Not only are there no stages or timeline, but there is also no end to grief. It just becomes part of our life experience. Krista reveals the truth about the eight myths that she usually encounters about sex and grief that could help people figure out how to live their lives again and love sex again without feeling judged or guilty. How do you talk to people so that they know whether they're ready or not to have sex again? This is an individual decision. One must decide to believe in themselves and trust that they know when they're ready. This doesn't negate feelings of nervousness or worry, but just shows that one is open to the idea. Krista's vision is to get people to a place where they know they can be kind to themselves on the other side of whatever decision they've made, because that's the most empowering place to be. Biography: Krista St-Germain is a Master Certified Life Coach, grief expert, widow, mom and host of The Widowed Mom Podcast. When her husband was killed by a drunk driver in 2016, Krista's life was completely and unexpectedly flipped upside down. After therapy helped her unfurl from the fetal position, Krista discovered Life Coaching, Post Traumatic Growth and learned the tools she needed to move forward and create a future she could get excited about. Now she coaches and teaches other widows so they can love life again, too. How Healthy is Your Home? (0:00:00) Wellness, the goal of achieving health in mind and body, is something to strive for. An active lifestyle, positive outlook and quality time with family and friends all contribute to this goal. But too many of us forget to incorporate wellness into our homes! Chip and Pauli Wade are experts in home and design. They are going to give us some tips on how we can have healthier houses.   Late Notes (0:20:01) Most parents dread it. Some kids would rather walk than participate in it.Carpool. We've all been there at 7:30 a.m. driving around the neighborhood, wrangling up all the middle schoolers and trying our hardest not to be late for school, and we've all had to write late notes when carpool doesn't quite run as smoothly as it should. But who says things like driving carpool or writing late notes shouldn't be things we enjoy? Seth King, a dad of 5, tries his hardest to make carpool not just fun for his daughter and the kids in his neighborhood, but for the whole world through his Instagram page @LateNotes. He joins us today to talk about how this all came to be.   Travelling with Kids (0:36:10) Carrie Ann Rhodes talks with Lisa and Richie about what you can do to make a family vacation go smoothly.   Female Friendly Workplace (0:50:35) As companies and startups grow, many are working hard to maintain important diversity in their workplaces, which should of course include women. And while women are ready for the new positions, the workplaces might not always be. A new survey shows that 60% of men feel uncomfortable participating in day-to-day work activities with their female co-workers, including socializing and mentoring. How female friendly is your workplace? How can we create an environment where everyone feels comfortable and valued? Here to share with us her ideas on the subject is Stephanie Thoma, who has recently started a workshop, recruitment and audit program: Female Friendly Workplaces.   Monster Mash: Clowns (1:05:59) We made it. Are you on pins and needles, riddled with anxiety about a new relationship? You're not alone. For most of our dating coaching clients, the "dating" part is not that hard. You put a profile together, attend social functions with a smile on your face, and you're going to have opportunities. Going on an actual date or three is not the biggest deal. What IS the biggest deal, and what our dating coaching clients really struggle with, is how to manage all the anxiety, insecurity, and angst about the unknown that comes with finding someone they really like and who they've started seeing regularly. That's when all the questions come up. Today, on the Love, Happiness and Success Podcast, I'm tackling some of your new relationship questions in hopes of putting some of that new relationship anxiety to rest. We'll discuss: How to manage new relationship anxiety The stages of a new relationship New relationship questions When to bring up topics like dating exclusively, or how you really feel Things to look for that indicate red flags and / or compatibility When you should move forward dating someone with a history of depression or other issues (and when to fold 'em). What to do when someone you like hasn't called or texted in a while, or gives other signals that they might not be that into you How to put self-love and self-worth front and center of all new dating relationships How to move a new relationship forward without "scaring someone off" All that, and more, on the podcast. Dr. Lisa Marie Bobby www.growingself.com PS: Resources we discussed on the show: The How Healthy is Your Relationship Quiz, and How to Cultivate Healthy Self-Love PPS: Do YOU have questions for me? Get Clarity About Your Relationship Are you confused about your relationship? Join the club. Relationships can be so hard to figure out. What's normal in a marriage? What's not normal? When is a fight just a fight, and when does it point to bigger issues? Is my relationship in trouble? Or are we just having the normal and expected bumps in the road that all couples have? Are we compatible? Or should we break up? Or is this fundamentally a really great relationship, and we just need to work on it? Can my partner change? Can I change? How? So. Confusing. Relationships are so confusing because so many different things can be simultaneously true about our relationships all at the same time. For example, all couples have disagreements. Every relationship has ups and downs. All people (even you and me) can have moments where we lose our cool, say dumb things, or be selfish and inconsiderate with our partners. The truth is, we're all a mixed bag, and so is every relationship. EVEN amazing, healthy, fun, and wonderful relationships that are worth committing in, investing in and cherishing forever are not always perfect. It is also true that there are things that happen in relationships that are easy to blow off as being not that big of a deal... but that can actually spell doom for a relationship. There are certain types of fights that are more toxic and damaging than others. There are a few things that can erode your sense of trust and emotional safety, to the point of no repair. And there are a few key relationship skills that can make all the difference between whether your love lasts a lifetime, or whether you grow apart. Help is here. On this edition of the Love, Happiness and Success Podcast I'm going to be walking you through the different vital relationship domains to help you understand what's normal, and what suggests more serious problems under the surface. We'll be talking about the things that people often are concerned about that are not really that important in the big scheme of things. We'll also be addressing the things that people often minimize that are actually a really big deal. Then, I'll be offering you some actionable advice for where to focus your energy if you want to improve your relationship. FYI, this comes in two parts: First, listen to the podcast. Then, take the "How Healthy is Your Relationship" quiz, to find out how your relationship stacks up. All the best,  Dr. Lisa Marie Bobby www.growingself.com
