So – yeah, no – the old dear is in the swimming pool when we rock up to the nursing home, doing her – I don't know – hydrotherapy exercises? She's dancing to Shania Twain's Man! I Feel Like a Woman! while holding a beach ball and she has singlehandedly cured me of my fetish for women in wet swimwear. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Why was Chappell Roan's band dressed like an 80s hair metal act during her Grammy performance? The answer unlocks the surprising secret behind her #1 country hit "The Giver." This musical detective story connects glam rock aesthetics to modern country through an unexpected lineage involving AC/DC's producer, Shania Twain's revolution, and men who inadvertently dressed in drag. Between fiddle licks and gated reverb drums lies a brilliant subversion of country traditions that proves the genre has always been about musical drag while revealing what "rhinestone cowgirl" really means. From here, we make a detour to discuss the controversy surrounding Lizzo and the double standards rampant in the music industry. For decades, Shania Twain has been inspiring fans with empowering anthems like “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” and “That Don't Impress Me Much.” Tom spoke with Shania back when the documentary about her life, “Not Just a Girl,” came out on Netflix. Shania talks about her humble beginnings in Timmins, Ontario, and the hard lessons she's learned about life and love. Plus, it's hard to pin down King Cruff's music as it seamlessly blends hip-hop, dancehall, Afrobeats and reggae. London, Ontario's King Cruff will tell you about his hit single “Soufflé” and how his grandfather, reggae legend Bob Marley, has influenced his approach to music and life.

I have really bad days. Days to wear I want to say F*** IT! I Quit. I Feel Like such a Loser! The only thing that brings me back from this and powers me through my negative thoughts and emotions is the gym. I workout those feelings. Weights, cardio, sauna doesn't matter. I get something done until I don't feel like a loser anymore. It's the only thing I know that fixes my state of mind.

Michael Landon has decided not to share this episode with any regular cast members. Instead he has opted to have Charles Ingalls leave everyone behind in Walnut Grove to star in a solo adventure. Out on a purchasing errand for some random blacksmith company, Charles finds his way to the town of Columbia to purchase some horses from a Harper Family Horse Farm. And it takes less than a minute for him to get involved with the family's life. Broken Patriarch, Dismissed Matriarch, Neglected Offspring...it's almost as if they have been waiting for Charles to arrive. With his time spent with this family, Charles manages to find out what has happened and proceeds to spend the rest of the episode helping them reconnect. In the end Charles rides off into the sunset. Why do I feel as though I just watched a "dream episode"? Could this explain why Charles didn't recognize Alyshea Sanderson-Edwards-Snider and instead called her Samantha? Wesleyan's swimming and diving teams swept the Class AAA-A state championships Saturday night at Georgia Tech's McAuley Aquatic Center. The Wolves claimed the girls state title with 300 points, finishing ahead of runner-up St. Vincent's Academy's 282. Whitefield Academy was a distant third at 215. Hebron Christian's girls, with five swimmers, tied for 11th with 70 points. Wesleyan's boys scored 252 points to top second-place Whitefield Academy and North Cobb Christian. Providence Christian's boys took fourth at 193. Hattie Wasmuth starred for the Wesleyan girls with two individual state championships — the 200-yard individual medley in 2 minutes, 6.03 seconds and the 500 freestyle in 5:10.93. She also joined Vivian Hosier, Ansley Chapman and Caroline Stewart on a state title-winning 400 free relay. Wesleyan's boys team won both the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay. Many Gwinnett Chamber board presidents get it easy during their year leading the Board of Directors. They may serve during a year when the chamber is taking on a major initiative or a leadership change, but, in the grand scheme of things, it's nothing overly daunting. Tammy Shumate, on the other hand, got to be board president in 2020, a.k.a the year a global pandemic hit and shut everything down. While that might sound like a tough time to be the board's president, Shumate said it was a good experience in retrospect. She said she learned a lot in a short time, although the experience was similar to “drinking from a firehouse” as Tammy put it. Tammy Shumate — who is the director of corporate development at her husband, Greg's, company, Capital City Home Loans LLC — was feted at the Gwinnett Chamber's 75th Annual Dinner at the Gas South District on Friday night as she was named the chamber's Citizen of the Year. She strode up to the stage to accept her award while Shania Twain's “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” played over the sound system. She picked the song out herself. Shumate has been involved with the Gwinnett Chamber for more than a decade. She estimated she has been on its Board of Directors for about at least 15 years. Wherever you needed him, the late Scott Cramer was there. Cramer spent the past 18 years as a basketball official with the Multi-County Basketball Officials Association based out of Gwinnett and Forsyth Counties and the longtime Lawrenceville resident was honored in between basketball games at Archer High School Friday night. He passed away unexpectedly last August at the age of 55, leaving a void in the community. The decorated official had the honor of refereeing two state championship games in 2019 and 2021, but what he prided himself the most on was helping others. He spent countless hours training officials and served as the association's vice president of training up until his passing. Archer was the perfect place to honor Cramer. While he never got to referee a game there, it was at the school where his two daughters graduated. He also spent many Friday nights watching the Tigers football team from the stands. Cramer started his passion for officiating in college. He attended Western Illinois University and started officiating parks and recreation games as a freshman. A year later, he was working local high school games in the area and honing in on his craft. After moving to Georgia, Cramer became a member of the MCBOA and remained with the organization. From parks and recreation games to high school games, Cramer went anywhere he was asked. Many of Cramer's friends and fellow officials spoke Friday night, remember a good friend and someone who was always enthusiastic about his job, even training the young officials. Gwinnett firefighters battled a fire at a large home located at the River Club in Suwanee Sunday morning for about two hours before extinguishing it. Fire officials said firefighters responded at 3:35 a.m. to a neighbor's report of a house fire in the River Club gated community. The 911 caller advised entire front of the home was on fire, fire officials said. On arrival, crews found a large 9,000 square-foot, two-story residence on a basement that was fully involved throughout the main portion of the home. Within two hours, firefighters had knocked down the main body of fire, Wilson said. Crews remained on scene for another five hours dousing hotspots and applying foam to smoldering areas. The home was completely gutted and is total loss. No injuries were reported. A fire investigator responded to the scene for origin and cause determination. The cause of the fire is currently undetermined and under investigation. According to the private security for the River Club subdivision, the homeowners were out of town. Gwinnett County officials will give residents several chances in February and early March to learn about the new Ride Gwinnett transit routes and offer feedback on the service. Ride Gwinnett, which was previously known as Gwinnett County Transit until it was formally renamed in January, will kick off a series of meetings with a virtual session from 9:30 until 11 a.m. on Wednesday. The meetings come as the transit service prepares to roll out new local service routes that will serve the Snellville, Stone Mountain, Buford and Suwanee areas, adding a new connection to destinations such as the Mall of Georgia. It is also expanding its existing coverage in the Lawrenceville, Lilburn and Duluth areas. Ride Gwinnett is preparing to roll out microtransit service in Snellville and Lawrenceville as well. Microtransit is a service where residents who live in a microtransit zone can use a mobile phone app to request a Ride Gwinnett shuttle pick them up and take them where they want to go within the designated zones. Although some meetings will be virtual gatherings, there will be in-person events as well. In all, eight meetings have been scheduled to take place in a span of just over one month. For a complete list of meetings and locations, head over to Gwinnett Daily Post dot com. Timely hitting was the key as the Number 7-ranked Georgia Gwinnett College baseball team won its opening weekend series with a 5-3 victory against Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon at the Grizzly Baseball Complex. Senior outfielder Blaze O'Saben hit a two-run single in the fourth inning to give the hosts a 3-1 lead. He collected two hits in the contest and registered a base hit in all three games in the series. Sophomore Braxton Meguiar extended GGC's lead to 5-1 with an RBI single that scored junior Jon Ponder in the sixth inning. Earlier, Meguiar put the team on the scoreboard with a two-out single in the third inning. Sophomore starting pitcher Cameron Repetti registered six strikeouts across five strong innings to pick up the victory in his first Grizzly appearance. Junior Kyle Petri followed by striking out five opposing batters across two innings before seniors Jonathan Haab and Garrett Houston each recorded two strikeouts in tossing scoreless eighth and ninth innings. Pitchers for GGC combined for 46 strikeouts during the season-opening series, earning at least 15 strikeouts in each game. The Grizzlies are back in action Friday morning, hosting the #24th ranked Taylor Trojans. Mit ihrem dritten Studioalbum "Come On Over" schreibt Shania Twain Geschichte. __________ Über diese Songs vom Album “Come On Over” wird im Podcast gesprochen 09:33 Mins – “Rock This Country” 16:36 Mins – “You're Still The One” 19:34 Mins – “Man! Boasting arguably the most famous midriff of the 1990s, Shania Twain rose out of Canada (and poverty) and reinvented country music and even the notion of what constitutes a female superstar. And she did it on her (and her producer-husband's) terms. Her 1997 album, "Come On Over," was a country and crossover tour de force, boasting eight singles including "Still the One," "From This Moment On," "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" and "That Don't Impress Me Much." In doing so, Twain dominated a male-dominated industry, empowered a new generation of female country stars, and became the biggest-selling female solo artist of all time. Not bad for a girl from rural Ontario.

This week Danny and Tyler are joined by comedian Dewey Lovett to discuss the Queen Of Country Pop, and the top-selling female country artist of all time, Shania Twain! It's hard to narrow down which of Shania's many, many bangers to include on the playlist, but we decided to go with her breakthrough crossover hit, "Any Man of Mine." On this episode we cover Shania's true rags to riches story, her music's themes of empowerment and feminism, and how her collaboration with producer and then-husband Mutt Lange changed radio country forever (for better, or for worse?).Get bonus episodes, blog posts, and more by supporting us on Patreon HERE!
In another installment of all things Plathville, Katy and Lucy break down Episode 8: I Feel Like a Cow. They spend the majority of the time going back and forth about how bad Kim could really be and occasionally considering how good Barry could really be. After a love fest over Micah (nothing new), worrying about Olivia and Ethan's marriage (nothing new), and some heavy breathing from Katy and Lucy's dog (this is new), they address some theories about the family and...add Barry on LinkedIN?
Alex and Jordan celebrate the 25th anniversary of the diamond-selling country-crossover smash that spawned immortal hits like "Man! I Feel Like a Woman," "You're Still The One," and "That Don't Impress Me Much." They'll explore Twain's harrowing backstory in the Canadian wilderness, where she overcame abuse, poverty and the death of her parents, and also her unlikely musical (and romantic) partnership with a heavy metal icon — which splintered amid one of the messiest love triangles this side of Fleetwood Mac. Of course, they'll also examine the many influences that went into the album, from '80s new-waver Robert Palmer to Brad Pitt's lawsuit against Playgirl and drag queens in Twain's hometown. And finally, they'll spotlight her triumphant comeback after Lyme disease nearly robbed Twain of her singing voice. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Sisters Courtney and Carley explore the hot topic of expanding our social circles in this week's episode all about fostering new friendships. Carley shares her strategies for striking up a conversation with a new acquaintance and Courtney advises on the art of introducing others. Both sisters share examples—good, bad and ugly—from their own personal experiences in this light-hearted episode. This is the 3rd episode in the summer hot topics series, airing summer 2022. Executive Editor of Dwell, Kate Dries, joins DJ Louie to talk the Queen of Country Pop, Shania Twain. First, Kate lays out some of the scant historical examples of country icons who have managed to crossover into mainstream pop stardom like Dolly Parton and explains a bit about why Nashville has been a hermetically-sealed ecosystem, resistant to change, outsiders and country artists who have ambitions beyond its traditional scope. Next, Louie and Kate discuss Shania's upbringing in Canada, surviving abject poverty, a household rife with domestic abuse, and the untimely death of both of her parents by writing, singing and performing in local bars beginning when she was just 8 years-old. They then move on to Shania's discovery performing at a resort in Canada which lead to her record deal Mercury Nashville, her flop first album, 1993's Shania Twain, her chance meeting with rock super-producer Robert "Mutt" Lange who quickly became her partner in both music and life through her massive run of success from the mid '90s-early '00s, and the genre-busting sound the pair developed on her blockbuster sophomore release, 1995's The Woman in Me. Louie and Kate also dive into Shania's third record, 1997's legendary Come On Over, which stands to this day as one of the biggest selling albums in history and provided the platform for Shania to make the leap from country legend to mainstream pop icon, parse apart how smashes like "You're Still the One", "That Don't Impress Me Much" and "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" displayed Shania's unique combo of girl-next-door approachability, '90s middle-finger-up feminist attitudes and an infectious sense of carefree joy and fun, how her flair for presenting herself visually and sartorially in music videos was both integral to her crossover and forever seared her into pop cultural memory, her globe-trotting fourth album, 2002's Up!, the dissolution of her marriage to Mutt and her subsequent loss of her ability to sing, her comeback Vegas residency and her 5th album, 2017's Now, and her legacy and impact on the pop landscape to this day. Finally, Louie and Kate rank Shania Twain in the official Pop Pantheon. Over the years stand-up comedy has gotten a bad reputation. More often than not people are exposed to comedians trying to be funny by making fun of queer folks. Enter AJ. He helps stand-up comedians who are just starting out by providing feedback. This includes thinking critically on jokes that could be offensive. This way he hopes to create a space in which comedy can be fun for everyone. I'm really showing my age this episode. There actually was an entire section of the episode in which we talk about being on camera, something your trusty podcast host is not at all used to, never mind comfortable with. Besides, the questions about TikTok have real old person vibes. For example: asking what someone's favourite TikTok is? That's like asking someone for their favourite Tweet. Dang, we don't know. Rebecca Solnit recently posted this essay that Mary Beard wrote back in 2014. It's about women speaking in public and the ways classical culture was built around telling women to shut up. Also about how that trend has continued. It's brilliant for all the reasons Mary Beard is often brilliant but the thing that feels like new information for me is the bit about women generally only being allowed to have a voice on matters that pertain to women. The one exception to the impulse to silence women is when they speak of things that are in their lane. Women are (sometimes) permitted to talk about women's rights but not about the war. 方舟和你重温一盘1999年的磁带,乡村流行天后 Shania Twain 的专辑 "Come On Over". Happy International Women's Day, friends. This episode takes you back to 1999 when Fangzhou first bought a cassette of Shania Twain's global hit album "Come On Over", and how it introduced the concept of Feminism to the mind of a teenage boy. 06:28 "Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)": 性别转换叙事的张力。 11:05 "Man! I Feel Like a Woman": 音乐录影带里的戏谑。 21:11 "That Don't Impress Me Much": 我的调情我做主。
The caregivers in MetroHealth’s Mother and Children Dependency Program have always had a wish: a place, a home – with a “mother hen” – where new moms struggling with substance-use disorder could stay to continue their recovery and healing while also caring for their newborns. … Well, sometimes wishes do come true. … This is an UPDATE of an episode from Season 1 titled “I Feel Like a Monster.” Listen to that episode here: https://soundcloud.com/metrohealth/4-i-feel-like-a-monster

On November 7th, 1975 Elton John started a three week run at number one on the US album chart with his tenth studio album 'Rock Of The Westies'. With 'Captain Fantastic, and the Brown Dirty Cowboy' released just five months earlier, Elton became the first artist ever to debut at number one on the Billboard album chart. Elton was back on top again in the first week of November after replacing Jefferson Starship’s 'Red Octopus' atop the chart. In this episode we’ll get into the nine tracks that made up the original album including the song Elton thought would be a big hit but was never released as a single. We’ll also hear some of the tracks that never made the initial record but later surfaced in reissues along with a listen to some stripped down piano & vocal only versions of a few of the tracks. Those coming from a bootleg that made the rounds among fans in the years following the album’s release. TRACKLISTING:SIDE ONE:1. "Medley (Yell Help, Wednesday Night, Ugly)"2. I Feel Like a Woman” de ‘Shania Twain’

Andy Kadin is the founder, owner, and head baker at Bub and Grandma's, a wholesale bakery that provides loaves to some of L.A.'s best restaurants, including Osteria Mozza, Petit Trois, Kismet, and Sqirl. After 10 years of writing for TV and advertising in Los Angeles, Kadin decided it was time for a career change. Being from New Jersey, he always had a deep love for sandwiches -- so much so that his nickname became ‘Lunch' at a previous job...so while dreaming of someday opening a sandwich shop in LA, he decided that he first needed to learn how to bake bread. He eventuatly commited himself to baking loaves every day in his home kitchen, giving them away to friends, and one such loaf got into the hands of Scott Zwiezen of Dune, home to some of LA's best falafel and other Mediterranean bites. Zwiezen was so impressed that he convinced Kadin to supply Dune with their daily ciabatta, essentially turned his home kitchen into a commercial kitchen for the six months that would follow (something he would not recommend doing ever again, by the way). Now baking in a warehouse east of downtown LA with 12 bakers by his side, Kadin and his team produce more than 600 loaves a day, making Bub and Grandma's one of the best premium small batch wholesale bakeries in the city. Comeback!!! Thank you, Carla, for reach out! I feel like a fraud… That’s what I told my brother. And that’s what I told a very good friend of mine. It was a few days after Mother’s Day here in the US. I had been afraid to verbalize it to anyone because I wasn’t sure what reaction I would get. How could I possibly be two years into building a platform created to help women who are childless not by choice feel better about themselves. Feel better about their lives. Many of you know, my byline: ‘Living a joyful and relevant life although childless not by choice.’ It all started a few days before Mother’s Day. It always does. Episode 78: To quote Shania Twain, “Man, I Feel Like a Woman.” Dana kicks of tonight’s boozy banter with a look at Congressman Marsha Blackburn’s insistence on maintaining the male version of her political title. Everyone piles on and we explore that and other titles that may or may not be gender-neutral. Next, D. Marie pulls from the hat, prompting the uncomfortable topic of counseling a friend during a breakup and the natural pitfalls hidden within those moments of friend loyalty. Do you feel out of your depth; like a fraud, asking 'who the hell do I think I am trying to be a part of this'? This week's show is all about Impostor Syndrome after a recent episode of Podcast Answerman in which Cliff Ravenscraft told anyone who was putting off podcasting because they were suffering from Impostor Syndrome to just crack on and title their first episode, I Feel Like an Impostor. Well this is episode 85 of Sheep Dressed Like Wolves and I still feel like an impostor so I thought I would follow Cliff's advice and just do it with this one instead. "The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt" - Bertrand Russell The good news is...if you feel like an impostor then you're not one. What is Impostor Syndrome? Impostor/Imposter Syndrome is the feeling that you're a fraud, and that any day now you'll be exposed. You might think that everyone else knows what they're doing, that you are punching above your weight somewhere you don't belong. I realised listening to Cliff's show that I suffer from Impostor Syndrome in a great many areas of life, from being a musician, to being a friend, and even running this website/presenting the podcast. I am not pretending to have this one sorted because, well I haven't...but in this episode I invite you to think about 4 possible ways we can begin to re-frame our position in places we feel on the fringes/out of our depth: 1. Declare Ourselves to be What we Are 2. Forget the notion of Us vs Them 3. Keep a Record of Our Successes 4. Talk About Your Struggles and Vulnerabilities Over to You Question: Do you identify with the notion of Impostor Syndrome? Please leave you response in the comments below, I'd be interested to hear whether this resonates.
