This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Leitz Camera, or as we know it today, Leica. The Leitz Camera Co. is far older than the cameras they produce. In today's episode, Bill leads a panel of photographers, including Alex (Smith), John Roberts, and David, who all have one thing in common: their love of Leicas, from the Barnack rangefinders to the iconic M-Series of rangefinders and even the controversial SLR line of Leicaflexes! But no matter which side of the fence you land on, there is something special about Leica cameras and their lenses that makes them not only expensive but worth every penny. Also Alex (our Alex) comes in with a presentation on the Leica Freedom Train, an effort by Ernst Leitz II and Elsie Kuehn-Leitz, to move hundreds of Jewish employees and their families outside of Germany from 1935-1939 and the company's efforts to protect those enslaved under the Nazis and employed by Leitz during the war. You can read more in the Legion Magazine or the Accidental Talmudist. CCR is ten years old this year, and to celebrate, we're hosting a Photowalk & Brewery Tour on 12 July starting at 11 am from the Great Lakes Brewpub at 11 Lower Jarvis in Toronto, Ontario. You can find more details on the event signup page on Photowalk.me!
Once again I Dream of Cameras spans the globe, with Jeff in Prague and Gabe in Los Angeles, and not even a nine-hour time difference can slow us down! In fact, one might say we are utterly devoid of camera viscosity, or “camerosity” for short. In this supersized episode…Jeff unknowingly chatted up Danny Clinch about his Leica Q2 at the Trombone Shorty Soho Session, and the acclaimed photographer was faintly dismissivefor the next two months Jeff's in Prague, where the camera shops (FotoŠkoda, Jan Pazdera) are far too alluringhe's been eyeing a lovely Zeiss Tenax II, a flawed Olympus 35SPn, and a beautifully brassed black Canonflex RMbefore departure, Jeff did the unthinkable: snagged a bargain-basement half-frame Alpa 10s on the ‘Bay - it's half a Swiss cookie and the realization of a lifelong dream!talking Leicas with Dave Tada, Gabe realized he needs a 35mm lens for his Leica III - he already has the 50mm Serenar, so any suggestions?Gabe went to the Fujifilm event for their bizarre new half-a-cookie digital - what did he learn about the elusive x100vi?Gabe has gone half-cookie INSANE with his Olympus Pen FT, so now our friend Sissi Lu has enticed him to give the Pentax One Seven one more try - what will he grab next, the chunky plastic Pentax or the mighty meterless Olympus Pen FV?he's got a portrait shoot coming up, and plans to use the Kiev 60, the Leica III and the Mamiya RZ67as for replenishing his collection, he's up to 27 of a planned 30 cameras Jeff was shooting around Prague when Sudden Fujifilm Battery Death struck again! A topic that we've lightly touched upon in previous episode, but never dared devote an entire episode to is the taboo subject of repairing your own cameras. There are those who firmly believe all repairs should be left to the capable hands of professionals, but there are others who have no problem with opening their own cameras and trying it out themselves. If you're in the latter group and are interested to hear some tips and tricks from those of us who have been brave/foolish enough to try it, Episode 89 is all about repairing your own cameras. Joining Paul, Stephen, Theo, and Mike are returning callers A.J. Gentile, Alyssa Micha, Andrew Reynolds, Christopher Wells, John Michael Mendizza, Keir Frei, Larry Effler, Pat Casey, Rafael Espinoza, Ray Nason, Wayne Scheipers, and Will Pinkham who all share their own experiences. We cover a wide range of topics, starting with what you can and cannot repair on a Kodak Medalist and whether you can still send your Leicas to the factory in Wetzlar to get repaired. Hear who we think makes a good set of JIS screwdrivers, lens spanners, and Mike recommends a rubber grippy tool. We share our recommendations for cleaning cameras, getting sticky residue off film doors, replacing mirror bumpers and foam light seals, how not to clean a reflex mirror, what works on lenses and what not to use. We even cover the taboo topic of washing your camera in the dishwasher! Although there is very little GAS in this episode, we do get into a few model specific camera repairs. Alyssa Micha shares with us her beautiful 1903 Kodak camera which had moldy bellows and what she needed to do to replace them. We talk about how to and how not to fix the infamous Canon Squeal of the Canon AE-1 and A-1 cameras, along with how to deal with the sticky backs of the Nikon N80 and N90, Mike talks about a product he used to mold a custom hand grip for his Minolta 650si. We talk about various cleaners, when and when not to use lighter fluid, acetone, glass cleaner, and for the love of God, please never use WD-40 on any camera! Although this whole episode is about home repairs and cleaning, we end the show talking about how best to take care of your camera to minimize its chances of never needing to be repaired, how to deal with humidity, and whether or not to store your cameras in their original leather cases. Meet Anthony, Paul, and Mike: If you are in the vicinity of Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday, March 22nd, come to the Ohio Camera Swap at the Hilton Garden Inn Cincinnati/West Chester and say hi to us. Who knows, maybe even some other Camerosity Podcast regulars will show up as well. While you're there, maybe you can buy something from us! As always, the topics we discuss on the Camerosity Podcast are influenced by you! Please don't feel like you have to be an expert on a specific type of camera, or have the level of knowledge on par with other people on the show. We LOVE people who are into shooting or collecting cameras, no matter how long you've been doing it, so please don't consider your knowledge level to be a prerequisite for joining! The guys and I rarely know where each episode is going to go until it happens, so if you'd like to join us on a future episode, be sure to look out for our show announcements on our Camerosity Podcast Facebook page, the Camerosity Discord server, and right here on mikeeckman.com. We usually record every other Monday and announcements, along with the Zoom link are typically shared 2-3 days in advance. Our next episode will be number 90, and like we've done for episodes 70 and 80, we will be devoting the show to cameras of that decade. For Episode 90, we will discuss cameras of the 1990s (or 1890s for that matter)! Finally, Theo will get a chance to talk about his beloved Mamiya 7, but in addition to that there were many other terrific cameras from that decade like the Nikon N90s and the premium 28Ti and 35Ti point and shoots, the Contax AX, and the Olympus µ[mju:]-II. In addition to terrific film cameras, the 1990s was the first decade with a large number of digital cameras like the Minolta RD-175 and Nikon D1. We will record Episode 90 on Monday, March 24th at 7pm Central Daylight Time and 8pm Eastern Daylight Time. In yet another request from our listeners for topics you wanted to hear, for Episode 88, you can include me as someone whose been interested in hearing an episode about the Kodak Retina and other German Kodaks. For many years, whenever I needed to write something about the Retina, the person I always reached out to was Dr. David Jentz. David is not only the founder of the Historical Society for Retina Cameras, but also has published multiple written works about the Retina and its history. In addition to his knowledge about the Retina, David frequently collaborates with historian Klaus Schicht who has studied the man who created the Retina, Dr. August Nagel. Although Klaus does not appear on the show, David was able to quote some information regarding topics we discussed on this show. If one Kodak historian was not enough, we also invited Todd Gustavson from the George Eastman Museum to be on the show to fill in the blanks for any other Kodak related questions which came up. This was a closed episode, so we did not have any callers, and both Paul and Theo weren't able to make it, but what we lacked in callers, we more than made up for in fascinating Kodak, Nagel, and Retina history. Listen to Episode 87 to get a background on who Dr. August Nagel was, how he became a doctor, brief histories of his time working for Contessa Nettel, Zeiss-Ikon, and Nagel Kamerwerke prior to joining Kodak. Did you know that before Kodak AG made cameras, they made film in Germany? We discuss other German Kodaks such as the Recomar, Pupille, Kodak Duo Six-20, and the mysterious Kodak Regent. We get into the differences between the use of "Nr." and "Type" when referring to prewar and postwar cameras, and finally solve the mystery of Paul's Retinette Angenieux lens. In addition to camera history, we also take a deep dive into Kodak's introduction to making 35mm film. While Kodak's type 135 daylight loading cassette was their most notable contribution to 35mm film in the 1930s, did you know they made 35mm film for the Leica and Contax before that? David shares with us information about Kodaks original 35mm film, along with some detailed patent information about the Retina, and much more! For our next episode, we are getting on a boat and heading on a "Three Hour Tour" for our second Desert Island episode. If you were stranded on a desert island with only three cameras, which three would they be? Will a high spec but fragile electronic camera make the cut, or will people choose less technically impressive models built to withstand a lot more abuse? Let us know what you'd choose! One of the benefits to having four hosts is that if something comes up and someone can't be on a recording, the show can go on. For Episode 78, we were short Anthony, so what did the guys decide to talk about while he wasn't there? One of Anthony's favorite cameras of course! The Zeiss-Ikon Super Ikonta 532/16 is a medium format folding camera that shoots 6cm x 6cm images and is one of the very few medium format folding cameras with both a rangefinder and fast f/2.8 lens. In addition to it being one of Anthony's favorite cameras, it is also a favorite of professional photographer Johnny Martyr who, along with a stable of vintage Leicas, shoots his Super Ikonta professionally, offering medium format prints to his clientele. On this episode, Johnny shares with us his motivation on why he incorporated medium format into his business and why he chose this specific camera. Episode 78 was light on guests as Paul, Theo, and Mike were also joined by returning callers AJ Gentile and Miles Libak, but we made up for it with a nice discussion of GAS! The conversation eventually moved from 6x6 folders to 4.5x6 folders and Mike gave his recommendation on one of the best Japanese 4.5x6 folding rangefinder cameras, the Konica Pearl IV. In addition, Mike also recommended an unlikely 6x9 folding camera as a value champion that still punches above its weight with a great lens. Paul shares some recent cameras he's dug out of his crypt and Theo talks about his recent adventures with a Nikon S2 and Olympus Pen FT and how he accidentally redscaled some film without knowing it. We briefly discuss the merits of prism based viewfinders and what would happen if you purposely loaded black and white film backwards. For this, the 68th episode of the World's Number One Open Source Film Photography Podcast, the gang invited our friend and film photographer Johnny Martyr to share with us his love of Leicas. As is the case any time the topic of cameras made by everyone's favorite Wetzlar based company is mentioned, the Force™ beckons our own resident Leica Master, Dan Tamarkin, who also joins us on our first ever April Fool's Day episode! What is real and what is fake?! Are Johnny and Dan really here or did Mike just find a really convincing AI voice generator?! NO ONE KNOWS! Helping Anthony, Paul, Theo, and Mike differentiate between reality and imagination, are returning callers Bob Rotoloni, Mark Faulkner, Patrick Casey, Raymond Nason, and first time callers Alan Peres, and Brock's Garage! Starting off the episode, Johnny talks a bit about his business, shooting film and digital with his wife and what kinds of customers would hire a film photographer. Of all the reasons someone might want a professional photographer, there is one type of gig that people tend to favor film more, but what is it? Johnny also talks about how when he first got started, his customers struggled to differentiate his film shots from his wife's digital shots, so he sought out ways to come up with his own style. For the second episode in a row, Leica R SLRs have captivated the Camerosity Crew, and Paul, Mike, and Dan discuss all of Leicas different SLRs, and what they like about each one. Mike recently shot three different Leica SLRs and clearly loved one over the others, but which one was it? Have you ever struggled loading film into bottom loading Leica screw mount (and similar) cameras? Does trimming the leader to the necessary length cause you heartache and slow you down too much? If so, Johnny has found a new type of take up spool that works in most screw mount Leicas (and copies) that greatly simplifies loading film into these cameras without having to trim the leader. Enter Ausgeknipst, a small German company who 3D printed a new design that both Johnny and Mike have tested. Finally, Mike shares his thoughts on a camera he thought would make a good April Fool's Discussion because of how well it "fooled" the community upon its release, but strangely, he ended up liking it way more than he thought he would. But what was it? As always, the topics we discuss on the Camerosity Podcast are influenced by you! Please don't feel like you have to be an expert on a specific type of camera, or have the level of knowledge on par with other people on the show. We LOVE people who are into shooting or collecting cameras, no matter how long you've been doing it, so please don't consider your knowledge level to be a prerequisite for joining! We usually record every other Monday and announcements, along with the Zoom link are typically shared 2-3 days in advance. For our next episode, rather than discuss a certain brand or type of camera, we thought it would be fun to discuss an entire decade worth of cameras, and what better decade to start in, but the 1970s! Get out your hair picks, put on your bell bottoms, and spin up some Kiss records and call in to share with us your favorite 1970s cameras! We will record Episode 69 on Monday, April 15th at 7pm Central Daylight Time (-5 UTC), 8pm Eastern Daylight Time (-4 UTC), and Tuesday at 10am Australian Eastern Standard Time (+10 UTC). In an era brimming with instant gratification, some things are worth the wait. This is an apt takeaway from our chat with photographer Charles Daniels about his long-outdated film from the legendary Boston Tea Party and other 60s-era music venues, rarely processed until recently. Joining Daniels in conversation is his long-time partner Susan Berstler, and Gerald Freyer from Film Rescue International, the unique image processing and digitization specialists entrusted with his mother lode of 4,000 plus rolls. Listen in as Daniels tells of his rise from club denizen to emcee to cultural ambassador, introducing 60s-era British invasion rockers to America, with a Leica, two Nikons and a mic in hand. Berstler describes how the unprocessed rolls stockpiled in their home became a COVID project, which then went viral after the launch of a Go-Fund-Me campaign. After a break, Freyer explains how Film Rescue International's unique processing and scanning technologies can breathe new life into lost and found film, saving untold stories from oblivion. Freyer also recounts his epic drive from Saskatchewan to Somerville (and back!) to safely collect the film for processing, without risking x-rays or other shipping hazards. As Daniels notes during the show, “For years, I never really developed any film, but I was shooting all the time. It was just there, and then at some point I realized that I needed to bring some of this older stuff to light.” With a nod to Daniels's 80th birthday on November 30th, the pictures may have been a long time coming—but what a fabulous gift to photographers and music aficionados alike! After moving to Boston's Roxbury neighborhood with his family in the 1950s and teaching himself photography with a camera he found in his parent's closet, Charles began capturing whatever caught his eye on city streets and in the era's legendary music venues. Soon he was serving as emcee for the bands, which provided unique access and strong friendships. This led to Lear Jets and tours with the likes of Rod Stewart, Ron Wood, and the Rolling Stones. Since his start in rock-and-roll, Charles has expanded his photography to embrace a wide range of subjects from music and fashion to dance, performance, and everything in between. Susan Berstler has a long history as a visual artist, curator, and arts producer, deeply immersed in the vibrant arts scene of Somerville, Massachusetts. One of her primary interests is transformative events and media, especially within public art. Her passion for this medium is further enhanced by her work as an Emerging Technology Specialist for Creative Technologies at Harvard University's Cabot Science Library. After a small grant from the Somerville Arts Council allowed her to begin developing Charles's treasure trove of film, the Go-Fund-Me campaign set up by a friend quickly went viral, raising more than $70,000 to date. Susan was referred to the company Film Rescue International, which became an ideal solution for film processing and creating high-resolution archival files from the negatives. At present, she is also in discussions with publishers and university archives to identify a final home for this unique image collection. Gerald Freyer is a technically trained photographer who also studied folklore, monument preservation and cultural history at the University of Bamberg in Germany. After working as a research assistant in museums, he became a consultant for digital imaging pioneer Phase One. Since 2007, Gerald has trained museum and archive staff in the use of high-end digitization systems, completing both archival and 360-degree photography projects for international museums and cultural institutions. In 2021, he joined Film Rescue International to work on digitization projects for its clients. Wir sprechen über die Photopia 2022, Leicas neue alte M6 und die Fujifilm X-T5
In this episode, Jason and Flo enter the exciting world of gaming. All of us (nearly) were once mesmerised by in game worlds we lived in. Some still are. It was pretty common in multiplayer role playing games to come into contact with an in game currency of some sort that one used to barter/level up. I read this article and was impressed by how many parallels there are with the real world, and thought we could see what we could glean from the myriad of currencies that have come and gone, in the gaming world that is.Show notes:Keys to Economic Systems: https://gdkeys.com/keys-to-economic-systems/ benefits of an economic system were to ration power, support specialization (impossibility to buy everything), encourage interaction between players, provide players goals, and support role-playIn its simplest form, a currency could be defined as an agreed-upon tangible medium of exchange for goods or servicesResources have proper value, a value often given by their transposition in currencies, A resource is useful in itself, a currency isn't.The number of sources and sinks a game will need for each currency will then be dictated by its systems and expected player experience. Is the game trying to promote freedom of choices and self-expression? Then having a multitude of ways to earn a currency will ensure that players can focus on the part of the game they prefer or are the best at (assuming the sources are balanced equally). Is the game instead wanting players to engage with a particular system or rewarding particular actions? In this case, having a currency dedicated to these will instantly create a strong incentive for players (or a tight bottleneck if the currency is part of the main flow). (JN: FREE MARKET vs CENTRALLY PLANNED!)define the number of sources and sinks of a currency by how much agency you want your players to have in playing, or progressing through your game systems. When sources are not generous enough, players drop due to lack of motivation (economic depression). When sources are too generous, it kills motivation too! (JN: high minimum wage/Dole = low productivity)JN: Trial phase = parents pay for your first home, university etc? Govts offer student loans?Having only one currency is dangerous. If players have too much gold at some point, they will remove every gating the game throw at them. Every system of the game tied to this currency will instantly lose any interest. Why go on an extremely long quest if the reward is again gold? Why sell items and engage with the trading systems when you are indecently rich? (JN: In real life, super rich use gold or currency to trade for other currencies such as reputation or status. Maybe even power)if we take the opposite then: hundreds of currencies, one for each and every micro-systems in the game, without any exchange of currency. On one side, this is extremely safe: every system is completely isolated, left with its own balance.the first one is the brutal reduction of the player agency: players must engage with every single system in the game in order to earn the currencies necessary to their progress. The other danger is that it makes a game feels… well, gamey. A real economy strives from its interactions, systems communicate to each other, currency trades for one another…(JN: In real life, this would be leaning towards centrally planned economies. Capital controls. Cuba: Exchange cigars or rum for sugar at a fixed rate, with 80% of crop belonging to the state)Be wary of currencies exchange: I've seen many systems failing because of situations like this: Gems can be exchanged for gears, that can be exchanged for gold, that can purchase tokens, that can… In the end, all these currencies communicate together and only form a single one, with all the dangers it brings. Be wary of these exchanges, or tax them accordingly. The Wretched Broker of Hades creates pathways to exchange currencies but at a very prohibitive cost.the value your currency has in the eye of your player, and how it evolves over time. Gold (USD IRL) vs Raid Tokens (Reputation/Status/Power IRL)Rebalance an economy by using extentions or patches. This allows new players to come in on a level playing field. (Currency reset, hello EURO vs Lira or Dmark. Hello Zimbabwean dollar/land reform when farms become commodity currencies ala stone of jordan. Hello berlin wall)Failsafes and Currency ProtectionRemove the multiplayer sharing component (or tax it) (Inheritance taxes. Licenses to trade. Licenses to practice. Sales and service taxes. No Barter)Multiply and specialize currencies: this is another extremely easy win. The more currencies a game contains, the smaller their impact will be: this will lead to better control and the certainty that a currency crashing won't ripple through all your systems. Warning: this only works if these currencies aren't connected in any way! If a currency can be exchanged for another one, they are virtually the same thing and will rise and drop together. (While every thing is backed by the dollar, not everyone uses the dollar in local economy. Also maybe why US citizen banking is so controlled, and is taxed on global income)Upkeep systems. Pay to use what he/she has. (Wealth tax. Property Tax. COE in Singapore for cars. Negative interest rates)Wallet limits (FDIC insurance is capped. Negative interest rates make you want to hold less currency. Wealth tax. Progressive income tax)Why not have a finite amount of money?players hoarding money combined with a lack of obligation to spend this money completely froze the economy and virtually removed it from the game world (Something to discuss. Is this true in real life? Are there ways around it?)Suggested schematic (What might real world analogs be over a person's lifetime?)Iron (IRL: Food? Clothes)Gold (IRL: Fiat currency)Diamonds (IRL: Skills?)Hard Currency (IRL: Gold, BTC, Leicas, Rolexes, Beachfront Property, Trophy wife Hahah)Renown Tokens (IRL: Reputation. Status. Power. Network.)Some statements from the videoWhat if there were no currency sinks in the real world? What if everyone was printing money all the time? Currency would become worthless (LOL)Gaia online , currency became worthless, company donated $250USD to charity everytime a player threw away 15 trillion Gold (sink)Diablo 2 and Asheron's Call, money gets replaced by other items that become currency (Stones of Jordan, Shards respectively)Without players getting ahead, they get discouraged if all they are doing is paying fees (Ahem real life) When sinks are too strongNew strategy from game designers (reserve currencies)Anchor for the local in game currencyAllow in game currency to buy real world items (similar to air miles) examples: Flex and Eve online (real world items serve as reserve)Allow in game currencies to be traded for real money.Silver pieces earned by killing monsters. These can be traded for diamonds (that cannot be used for trade). Diamonds can either be sold for USD or used to purchase items from the game store (Sink). Prevent Diamonds from becoming the currency. Diamonds bid for something that is not available locally.Game designers set max limit on how much a diamond can cost vs silver pieces since silver keeps getting printed. What are some of the real world reserve currencies? (Jason Theory)US Dollar by decree (smaller extent the SDR basket of JPY, GBP, EUR etc)BTC, Gold, Crypto currenciesReal Estate (foreign/local?)Watch this episode on YouTube:DisclaimerNot financial or tax advice.
Today I chat with Jake Rose about cutting costs while shooting film while on a students budget and starting out shooting film. We also chat about Leicas and Nikons, expired film and bulk loading.

Did you ever notice that celebrities love photography? Did you ever notice that they always carry around their Leicas and Contax G2s? What's up with that? But it's not always for show, some celebrities are accomplished and dedicated photographers like Jeff Bridges. Others like Cole Sprouse are honing their craft and getting editorial and commercial gigs to complement their day jobs. In this episode of Vision Slightly Blurred, Sarah and Allen dig into the psychology of celebrities and their Leicas, identify a few celebs who are good photographers, and even talk about gear for about 5 seconds.
A midweek solo show from Andre Domingues. He starts off with talking about how keeping your negatives close to you helps with finding hidden gems ready for printing, hands it off to Ben Mills for a Call In Camera Review of the Minolta HiMatic 5, then returns to announce (gasp!) that he's selling his Leicas (and why). Last but not least, some cultural recommendations for the Leica and watch enthusiasts out there.
After covering the subject of whether a person should dress in layers while hiking in the Pacific Northwest, Nick and Graham talk about what kind of features they want in a camera for travel (8:00). Nick describes his Duffer Suit and how it allows him to be ignored when he takes pictures (21:20). Graham describes the psychological reason why Leicas kept the bottom-loading system for as long as they did (24:00). We get a bit of a non-update on the Scamera project and what the guys worked on the past two weeks (30:45).

Steven, John, and Bill get together for a photo news packed episode! There's a lot of photo news, so buckle your seatbelts, especially if you're driving in the car! Show Notes Website version of the show notes with pretty pictures! Kodachrome Movie Trailer Starring Jason Seidukis, Ed Harris, Elizabeth Olsen https://youtu.be/g3IvVejktJE Another great podcast called, “First Person Shooter,” by Wes Bowker talks about the big takeaway from the movie. Don’t neglect the people around you with your photography; find that balance between family and photography. FujiFilm Officially Kills NeoPan Acros 100 It's official. FujiFilm has announced the discontinuation of Acros 100. Written on a previous post, we believe that FujiFilm got out of the film game before the resurgence. Because of the filmgrain.es article and connections to FujiFilm in addition to Doc Kaps meeting with FujiFilm execs to save FP-100C, we believe this to be enough evidence to think the machinery is long gone. Street Candy Film We recap Bill's 'One-on-One' interview with Vincent Moschetti. You can listen to the podcast episode here. Kodak T-MAX P3200: My First Roll Steven’s report on shooting P3200. He shares his experience shooting the film and shows us pretty pictures! Kodak Announces Ektachrome E100 in 16mm Let's get it out of the way. There's another pushback on the timeline. It is now slated for late summer/early fall 2018. It's okay though. The gap is getting smaller and smaller it's important that Kodak has a successful launch for Ektachrome. When the article was posted, 35mm was not mentioned and people started to get concerned. We tweeted Matt Stoffel at Kodak and has confirmed that 35mm is on the same timelines as Super 8 and 16mm. https://twitter.com/StoffelMatt/status/982369815443771394 We believe the announcement of 16mm format is the result of a survey Kodak put out about the super 8 camera in early February. Tim Gander After the podcast episode, Tim Gander submitted an article sharing his experience switching to a digital camera and beating his competition to print who were still shooting on film. Read up on the article here and listen to his 'One-on-One' interview with Bill here. Adorama On April 4, 2018, Adorama Learning Center writer, Mason Resnick, posted an article called, “5 reasons why I am never going back to Film Photography.” We posted a Google cache link since all articles by Mr. Resnick have been taken down. The REAL reason why photographers got angry is because it's another "Film vs. Digital" article. We get it, every point Resnick writes is accurate. But everybody has their own reason for shooting film. Things went from bad to worse really quick when photographer, Mike Fraser, discovered the image of a Leica M3 is identical to the image of a Leica M3 on Ken Rockwell's website. Fraser questioned Resnick of the similarities. Resnicks response, "We must have identical Leicas." When that comment did not pass muster, the comment was deleted and ultimately sent the article into viral mode among the photography community. The watermark is in a very difficult spot to crop out. Ken places it where you really have to intentionally remove it. On 4/6 Adorama issues an article titled We Are Sorry in response to the fallout. The article acknowledges the improper use of Ken Rockwell's image and offered compensation. According to PetaPixel the amount is $1,000. Now that Adorama is on the radar, people began to audit Resnick's previous writings and discovered an article posted prior to the Ken Rockwell incident. Images from Bellamy Hunt's article, 'Camera Historica: The Sean Flynn Leica M2' details the story war photojournalist and his Leica M2. The same images in Bellamy's article were used without his approval on Adorama's blog (Google cached link). As a result, all articles written by Resnick have been taken down. MiNT MiNT gives an update on the RF-70. Bring up price and new features – Internal Flash and External flash port – Excited because this really takes instant film to a new level in analog photography. Price – Slightly more expensive than SLR670-S which comes in at $729. Photowalk Website Photographer, Martin Smith, has built a website tailored for photowalks and photo meetups. There are disadvantages to big sites like Meetup.com and Eventbrite that don't always fit the needs of a photowalk. It is quite popular in Europe and we want to help him make this a popular tool for the photo community around the world.
