Today's show is for you crime writers, or those who are curious about how a good crime novel is crafted. On today's show I will be chatting with the acclaimed crime-writing trio of Deborah Levison, T. M. Dunn, and Wendy Whitman, whose topics range from serial killers to domestic violence. Deborah Levison is an author and publicist. Her first book, an acclaimed nonfiction called THE CRATE, is a true crime with echoes of the Holocaust, which reviewers called it “gorgeous and poetic,” “heart-wrenching,” and “a brilliant story.” The Jerusalem Post wrote: “exquisite.” The book won seven literary awards. Her debut novel, A NEST OF SNAKES, is part thriller, part courtroom drama inspired by real-life abuse at elite New England private schools, described as “a roller-coaster ride of surprising twists” leading to a “staggering climax.” Wendy Whitman has a unique background through her decades-long work as an executive and producer covering almost every major high-profile murder case in America. She spent fifteen years at Court TV and another several at HLN for the Nancy Grace show, where she appeared on air as a producer/reporter. Before attending Law School, Whitman worked for comedians Lily Tomlin and George Carlin. Since turning her attention to writing, Whitman has published two crime thriller novels: PREMONITION and the sequel, RETRIBUTION.Patricia AKA T. M. Dunn is the author of the psychological thriller, HER FATHER'S DAUGHTER, REBELS BY ACCIDENT, and LAST STOP ON THE 6. She has served as Senior Director of the Writing Institute at Sarah Lawrence College, where she holds an MFA in creative writing. She coaches aspiring and established writers and teaches creative writing workshops. She co-founded Key to the Castle Workshop, co-hosts the Westport Library's podcast, "Go Ahead, Write Something," and co-chairs programming for Sisters-in-Crime CT. In today's episode we discuss:· Wendy's beginnings as an assistant to Lilly Tomlin and George Carlin.· Wendy's over twenty years as a producer/reporter for Court TV where she covered numerous high profile murder trials.· Wendy's author career and her latest book, Retribution in the Deer Killer Series. · Deborah's breakout hit, The Crate and the impact it has had on her professionally and personally. · Deborah's intimate experience with the holocaust and how she wove into her book, The Crate.· How a grisly murder hit home and the impact it had on Deborah and her family. · How T.M. helps other authors realize their potential.· T.M. George Schlatter: The visionary maestro who shook up television with "Laugh-In," crafting a kaleidoscope of laughter, counterculture charm, and unapologetic satire, forever imprinting his comedic genius on the annals of entertainment history joins us on Dystopia Tonight for an unforgettable interview. A masterful director, George Schlatter's creative genius has imprinted an indelible mark on both the silver and small screens. It was his groundbreaking work on the irreverent sketch show "Laugh-In" that catapulted him to legendary status, shaking up the status quo and fearlessly pushing boundaries throughout the politically charged '60s and '70s. During this episode, Schlatter mesmerized listeners with captivating tales of his collaborations with comedy icons. He fondly reminisced about discovering the infectious energy of Goldie Hawn, the character building brilliance of Lilly Tomlin, and the unruly genius of George Carlin. He shared stories of working with Robin Williams, who effortlessly merged comedy and pathos, and the puppeteering genius of Jim Henson, whose characters brought joy to audiences of all ages. But Schlatter's influence extended beyond the realm of comedy. He spoke fondly of the late John Denver, recounting their collaborations that blended music and humor, and he even shared anecdotes about the Chairman of the Board himself, Frank Sinatra, whose comedic timing surprised and delighted both Schlatter and audiences alike. We also discussed the realm of contemporary comedy, as Schlatter offered his thoughts on the current TV and Movie landscapes, and comics who are currently at the top of their games like Dave Chappelle, acknowledging the impact of his fearless and thought-provoking brand of humor while lamenting the fact that not all of it appears to be comedy to him. From the vibrant chaos of "Laugh-In" to his collaborations with the most revered names in the industry, Schlatter's legacy is one of innovation, fearlessness, and unbridled creativity. His work has paved the way for future generations of comedians, inspiring them to challenge norms, question authority, and elicit laughter from the depths of the human experience. George Schlatter, a maverick director who forever changed the landscape of comedy.

Hello everyone. Have y'all ever questioned if La La Land deserved to be nominated for Best Picture? Or debated if Quentin Tarantino is actually overrated? Or perhaps challenged others by asking is Die Hard a Christmas movie? Here on the Don't Be Crazy movie podcast we ask these questions and more with the help of fellow film enthusiasts. Who's we? I'm Zach Rancourt and with me today is Amanda Jane Stern. We might not be certified film critics or have our own column in The New Yorker, but the only thing we love more than cinema is talking about it. "What are you, a man or a mouse? I mean, a woman or a wouse?" On this episode we are discussing the 1980 classic 9 to 5 starring Lilly Tomlin, Dolly Parton, and Jane Fonda. When a make believe/real life revenge plot goes awry, three under-appreciated working women must work together for the betterment of the workplace and to avoid jail time. All the while and most troublesome, they have to deal with their abhorrant boss Mr. Hart. Take a listen and don't forget to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter. Robby shares insights from God's call on Mankind from Genesis 1:28 Be Fruitful – let me just pause there, if you have wondered all your life what it is you are supposed to do? The answer could not be more simple, YET – I had been missing the main ingredient in fruit, to be found in the beauty of the Hebrew Language the decoder ring of God's Kingdom. Look above and you see the call (Lilly Tomlin) believe me the phone is ringing and the amazing fruit available in the promise land above those is the word fruit in Hebrew, Peh-Resh-Hey. That letter PEH is God's presence, plain and simple, Apart from me you can do nothing. It takes two to tango, make babies and most of all to bear fruit. We have all herd abundant fruit comes from an abundant root. No Jesus, no Love or Joy peace, patience, kindness, no goodness or faithfulness, no gentleness and by no means though it seems crazy, no self control by yourself.
There is a saying that I love from an old Bette Midler movie. It’s about a set of twins who were switched at birth. One set was the Bette Midler character, the other set was Lilly Tomlin. The Movie was called Big Business. At one point the level-headed, business-oriented Thomlin character says, “Lord, my load is heavy.” I use that phrase often. I like it. I’m using it now. Because the podcast and video I produced about the COVID19 virus included incorrect information. It was wrong. Basically, all the facts I quoted from Stanford Hospital did not come from Stanford Hospital. I’m here to correct that information. My load may be heavy, but I’m still a reporter at heart and I was to set the record straight. Why would somebody create a factually incorrect post? Then share it. I know, as a former reporter to always get two sources of information. In my defense, I did go to the Stanford Hospital website and look for the source of the incorrect info. I could not find the source. That was my red flag. I should not have posted the info. I have pulled the video and the podcast, I apologize for passing along a "Scam" In the future, I will ALWAYS USE TWO SOURCES! December 19, 1980 an iconic movie was released that inspired women all across the United States and the world. It's theme song became a national anthem for a generation of women that were mad as hell, and were not going to take it anymore. The movie was 9 to 5. It stared: Jane Fonda, Lilly Tomlin and Dolly Parton. This movie cast a light on the sexism and income disparities that women had to deal with just to survive on a daily basis. Fast forward to today's "Me Too!" movement and you'll began to understand why such a movement had to exist. Today women are leaving the traditional 9 to 5 behind for a more economically sound business model. It's call network marketing.... And women are thriving in this profession. This week's podcast is all about grandparents and pastors. Some are good, some aren't so good, and some might just put you to sleep. On the grandparents front, we have "Grandma," starring Lilly Tomlin as a cantankerous poet, helping her teenage granddaughter to obtain and abortion. We also have the peculiar elderly people visited by their grandkids in M. Night Shyamalan's "The Visit." On the pastor front, there's "90 Minutes in Heaven," which tells the story of a minister who is pronounced dead for an hour and a half, and then found to be alive. There's also "Impastor," the new TV Land series in which a man running from bad guys steals a pastor's identity, and then comes to enjoy his new life. All that, plus listener mail and trivia!
