I'm welcoming the journalist and writer John Harris back to the pod today, this time for a special bonus episode on his book 'Maybe I'm Amazed - A Story of Love and Connection in Ten Songs'. When John's son James was born, and three years later diagnosed with autism, music became a source of precious connection and endless wonder for both of them. James connected with so much music, but one of his strongest passions was The Beatles. As a Beatle obsessive himself, John talks about his own relationship with the band and tells us how watching his son discover and explore The Beatles became a source of inspiration for them both.

In this episode of "Shark Theory," hosted by Baylor Barbee, listeners are introduced to a powerful lesson in perseverance and creative problem-solving inspired by a persistent squirrel. This intriguing metaphor serves as a springboard for discussing the challenges people face when pursuing their goals. The episode opens with Baylor observing a squirrel attempting to reach a bird feeder, confronting slick poles as obstacles. When traditional approaches fail, the squirrel finds an unconventional way to succeed, showcasing the essence of thinking outside the box. Throughout the discussion, Baylor delves into the themes of overcoming obstacles and finding new routes to achieve success. Using the squirrel's determination as a metaphor, he encourages listeners to identify the "poles" in their lives—those seemingly insurmountable obstacles standing between them and their goals. He challenges conventional thinking and advocates for alternate paths, or "trees," that despite appearing daunting, offer a viable route to success. Baylor's vivid storytelling emphasizes the importance of not giving up, even when the path forward seems difficult or unclear. The episode resonates with those who may struggle with reaching their aspirations, inviting them to consider broader perspectives and embrace the uncertainties of new attempts. Key Takeaways: Identify Personal Obstacles: Understand the barriers impeding your progress toward goals, akin to the squirrel's challenge with the bird feeder pole. Seek Alternate Paths: Embrace new perspectives and strategies, represented by the "tree," to navigate challenges successfully. Power of Resilience: Maintain determination even when traditional methods fail, and be willing to explore unconventional solutions. Commitment Over Convenience: True success requires commitment beyond convenience, and the willingness to take risks is crucial. Value of Self-Belief: Trust in your abilities to take leaps of faith, betting on yourself even when the outcome is uncertain. Notable Quotes: "We see a goal, something that we really want... every time we get to a certain point, we keep sliding back down." "The difference between living in a land of mediocrity and being like the squirrel is most people say, 'Maybe it's just not for me,' and they quit." "Perhaps you need to look at your life and... realize, look, the approach... is a little bit tougher. It's not an easy road." "Do I care about instant success, or do I care about lasting success?" "This goal means so much to me that I'm willing to do what it takes."
Note: to read this posting on a calm presence see a conscient rethink a conscient rethinkWhat needs to be said? Who needs to say it? Who wants to hear it? How does it help? February 16th, 2025, on the unceded lands of the Algonquin-Anishinaabe people.I started publishing the conscient podcast and balado conscient in May of 2020. My goal was to ‘explore art and the ecological crisis as a learning and unlearning journey'. At that time I believed that ‘the arts and culture could play a critical role in raising awareness about sustainability issues and moving people towards action.'Maybe. Maybe not. At any rate, some 300 episodes later, I felt that this first leg of my conscient journey is complete and that I owe deep gratitude to my collaborators and to you, for listening. It's now time to rethink conscient. Some of you might recall in my listen and co-create posting on a calm presence and this quote from the Intercultural Communication Handbook : Sensing, attending and being patient requires slowing down, pausing, and taking time to listen, look, feel and learn. Seeking to activate and use all our senses to relate as part of the world. This involves learning through relationships, through actions and through careful attention, not just through asking questions and talking a lot. Being patient and humble enables recognition of the myriad of messages that humans and non-human beings are always sending out. These wise words encouraged me to slow me down and inspired me to take a pause from the production of conscient during the winter of 2025 and I tried to follow this good advice.Others are also advocating for a slow down and a rethink. For example Kai writes in Dense Discovery – Issue 326 / When enough outrage is enough :We have enough information. We know where we stand. The challenge now isn't to understand more, but to act on what we already know, redirecting our energy from pointless online reaction to tangible local action. As I've said here before, we don't need more clever dunks. We need more people showing up – in our communities, in our work, in the unglamorous spaces where real change takes root. What did I do?I listened to everyday life. I stopped judging.I meditated on presence.I conversed with colleagues in the 10 week Surviving the Future : The Deeper Dive 2025 course.I shared some of my experiences in prepare, bend, sustain. I read and listened to Shaun Chamberlin's Dark Optimism, Nate Hagens' The Great Simplification and Kamea Chayne's Green Dreamer. I also shovelled snow, learned to play tennis and played shinny. Lots of shinny. I also pondered listener feedback from previous seasons of conscient. Here are a few : your guests are inspiring and the conversations are nourishing : it fills a gapwhy don't you present more diversity of voices, in particular from young people and the global south your conversations often go on too long. We're more likely to listen if you edit them downyou narrate too slowly : I. sometimes. fall. asleep. listening. to. you. drone. on.your podcast is not enough fun : why don't you try to be more uplifting and positiveintegrating soundscape compositions actually works well: it makes your podcast unique and compellingWhy not give us more practical tools to engage with the issues not just philosophical musings and doomist projectionstry to be a bit more humblebreathe more quietly and smoothlyWith this feedback in mind, I came up with a set of questions to guide my work future forward: What needs to be said?Who needs to say it?Who wants to hear it?How does it help?In other words, what is the point of all this chatter? I thought back to why I listen to podcasts in the first place and what keeps me listening? I listen to podcasts because they help me:break me out of isolationaccept collapsefeel solidarity and connectionunlearngenerate spiritual and physical energyempathise through tone of voicenurture presence through hesitationlaugh and cryslow down and listenkeep going in spite of the oddsconscient podcast studio production spaceSo, with all of this in mind, I've decided to go ahead and produce a 6th season of conscient. You'll be able to hear three episode types:1. fifteens15 minute ‘composed' conversations with leading artists and cultural workers exploring the theme of ‘arts and culture in times of crisis, collapse, renewal' with a focus on actions. A fifteen is a coffee break of insight. 2. roundtablesLong duration, informal banter with friends and colleagues about their passions, fears and dreams, inspired by the innovative ways of the 1980's era CBC Radio's overnight talk show Brave New Waves. Participants are invited to tell a good story and to expect to be interrupted and maybe teased once in a while. A roundtable is an engaging kitchen party. 3. a calm presenceThese bonus episodes are me narrating each a calm presence Substack posting including additional commentary and soundscape compositions. It's intended for those who, like me, prefer listening over reading. Listen along as we look at week three of our Holy Spirit series. Luke 4:16-30 - Mike Reading Aren't you, like me, hoping that some person, thing, or event will come along to give you that final feeling of inner well-being you desire? Don't you often hope: 'Maybe this book, idea, course, trip, job, country or relationship fulfill my deepest desire.' But as long as you are waiting for that mysterious moment you will go on running helter-skelter, always anxious and restless, always lustful and angry, never fully satisfied. You know that this is the compulsiveness that keeps us going and busy, but at the same time makes us wonder whether we are getting anywhere in the long run. This is the way to spiritual exhaustion and burn-out. This is the way to spiritual death. - Henri Nouwen Stones into Bread The Fountain thirsts, the Bread is hungry here The Light is dark, the Word without a voice. When darkness speaks it seems so light and clear. Now He must dare, with us, to make a choice. In a distended belly's cruel curve He feels the famine of the ones who lose He starves for those whom we have forced to starve He chooses now for those who cannot choose. He is the staff and sustenance of life He lives for all from one Sustaining Word His love still breaks and pierces like a knife The stony ground of hearts that never shared, God gives through Him what Satan never could; The broken bread that is our only food. The Kingdoms of this World ‘So here's the deal and this is what you get: The penthouse suite with world-commanding views, The banker's bonus and the private jet Control and ownership of all the news An ‘in' to that exclusive one percent, Who know the score, who really run the show With interest on every penny lent And sweeteners for cronies in the know. A straight arrangement between me and you No hell below or heaven high above You just admit it, and give me my due And wake up from this foolish dream of love…' But Jesus laughed, ‘You are not what you seem. Love is the waking life, you are the dream.' On The Pinnacle ‘Temples and Spires are good for looking down from; You stand above the world on holy heights, Here on the pinnacle, above the maelstrom, Among the few, the true, unearthly lights. Here you can breathe the thin air of perfection And feel your kinship with the lonely star, Above the shadow and the pale reflection, Here you can know for certain who you are. The world is stalled below, but you could move it If they could know you as you are up here, Of course they'll doubt, but here's your chance to prove it Angels will bear you up, so have no fear….' ‘I was not sent to look down from above It's fear that sets these tests and proofs, not Love.' John 14:15-17 John 14:25-26 John 16:7-15 “You can have all the right notions in your head without ever tasting in your heart the realities to which they refer; and a simple Bible reader and sermon hearer who is full of the Holy Spirit will develop a far deeper acquaintance with his God and Savior than a more learned scholar who is content with being theologically correct.” JI Packer

When Suzanne's son, Lorenzo, was a little boy, he told his family that when he grew up, he would be a police officer. He even drew a picture of himself as a policeman. After finishing high school, he instead studied computers and looked to follow in his dad's footsteps. Then, one day, when Lorenzo was in his mid-twenties, he surprised his mom with a phone call. 'Mama Bear,' he said, 'I need to talk to you.' Suzanne responded by asking if she should be worried. 'Maybe a little bit, Mama Bear,' he replied, but it's OK.' Lorenzo shared that he couldn't work behind a desk any longer. He needed to help people and become a police officer. Although Suzanne was a little worried, she was also so proud of her son. She knew that he would be an amazing addition to the police force. He loved helping others. in his soul, Suzanne said that he was born to be a lover of people. She says that no one ever loved her as deeply as Lorenzo did. It was so fun to talk to her about their amazing relationship and about how, above all else, Lorenzo wanted to take care of his 'Mama Bear.' It reminded me a little bit about Andy, his big, loving heart, and the way he always insisted that he 'loved me more' despite my protests. Shortly after Lorenzo realized his dream of becoming a police officer, however, he suffered a tragic accident when he was cleaning his gun. His gun discharged and he shot an artery in his leg. Although he was able to call for help, it was too late. Amid this tragedy, Suzanne saw that Lorenzo's community loved him just as much as he loved them. Officers stood at attention at every freeway exit in southern California as the car carrying his body drove by. Thousands honored her sweet, loving Lorenzo. As we talked, I began to wonder if our two 'boys' somehow brought us together. I imagine a proud Andy telling everyone in heaven about his mom and her podcast, and Lorenzo thinking the podcast might be a good idea for his 'Mama Bear' to help her heal. When Suzanne emailed me, she wrote that I was her 'angel' who 'saved' her, but I'm pretty sure the 'angel' was actually Lorenzo setting things in motion.
[SEGMENT 1-1] Leftist revelations 1 One election changed everything. It's not about parties, i.e. Democrat or Republican. It's about truth versus lies, pragmatism versus fanaticism. Harris had no real shot of winning and her political career is over, though she pretends it's not. Much has changed in this one election, and the world tilted “right” on its axis. I was studying med at the time and I was short on money. So one time, this guy made me what seemed like a lucrative offer and I agreed... A week or two later, I drove over to his apartment. I was petrified, but I needed the money so I rang the doorbell. It was a lovely apartment, and he paid upfront. He was nice enough. He asked me to do some things that I didn't want to do, so I said, 'Maybe not this time.' Kept an eye on the time (via the helpful clock radio next to the bed) and thankfully he finished on time. Had a shower, bit of a chat afterwards, and then he kissed me goodbye on the cheek.""I drank a heap of wine before I went to the agency. This was about 2.5 years ago when the industry was booming. In today's episode we have Ben Press, someone who found some of the greatest stars we have seen in our favorite movies. One he is most known for is securing a role for Amanda Seyfried in "Mamma Mia!" despite initial resistance from the studio, highlighting the importance of persistence and leveraging trusted relationships. He talks about his involvement in ventures like Russell Wilson's TraceMe, which was later acquired by Nike, and his advisory role at Cameo. He explains how celebrities have become more accessible for brand collaborations due to economic changes in the entertainment industry and shares insights on how entrepreneurs can leverage celebrity partnerships for brand growth. Georgia governor Brian Kemp did a wide-ranging interview with the "Politically Georgia" podcast hosts last Thursday, which aired last Friday morning on WABE-FM and via podcast (listen here). In it, Greg Bluestein, Tia Mitchell, Patricia Murphy and Bill Nigut grilled the governor to figure out where his support for the GOP presidential nominee is (we know where wife, Marty, stands, for now), his views on immigration, his stance on abortion rights in the face of 'dog catches car' backlash and where he is on Medicaid expansion should the 2025 General Assembly put it on his desk. Stubbornly, he's holding out (slim) hopes that his 'Pathways' project - thus far an abject failure - will work to insure hundreds of thousands of uninsured Georgians. Hear a good bit of the conversation and some "seasoning" of points I add to the dialogue.
Snag my free Time Audit Templates! In our previous episode, we continued our work with time audits so that we could begin to build awareness and take action toward better time management. We discussed the importance of categorizing activities based on their importance, urgency, energy level, alignment with priorities, and necessity. Today we are going to take that work and take it a step further… we will begin Creating Your "Definitely Yes" and "Maybe No" Lists when it comes to time commitments we need to keep and those we may need to change or get rid of. Key Highlights: We talk about what goes on our “definitely yes!” list, our “yes” list, and our “maybe no, not so much, not me, or not right now” list. This 3rd list is the zone of opportunity when it comes to creating more time in your schedule for the things you want to be doing. We have to “balance our budget” of time, and start getting to work on that “savings” bucket…the things that are important but have completely or nearly completely fallen off our list of commitments. I hope this episode blesses you! Xoxo, Tanya Episode Resources: Episode 125: Master Time Management: Applying Money Management Principles to Your Daily Schedule

In the first half, Italo-American photojournalist and investigative reporter Paola Harris discussed UFO/UAP phenomena and disclosure, as well as many of the legendary UFO researchers and contactees she has interviewed and befriended over the years. She spoke about the 1945 Trinity UFO crash case (which she and Jacques Vallee wrote a book about) and noted that some new information has become available, along with renewed interest in that time period associated with the movie "Oppenheimer," and how alien contact has sometimes been associated with humankind's use of nuclear weapons.Regarding the recent whistleblowers coming forward about UFOs, she commented that it's a bit of a distraction since whistleblower testimony from the likes of Col. Philip Corso, Clifford Stone, and the witnesses that Steven Greer set up in a Citizen Hearing on Disclosure has been out there for many years now. Harris recalled her conversations with the late Paul Hellyer, the former defense minister of Canada, and how he believed that recovered technology from UFO crashes could be used to solve various world problems related to ecology, medicine, and hunger. She mentioned her trip to the Andes in Peru to study the fascinating contactee case of Ricardo Gonzalez, who said he met time-traveling space aliens who warned of an impending earthquake in the mountains (that ended up occurring). Harris also announced one of her latest projects-- a special youth conference on UFOs for kids aged 13-18 in Longmont, CO, in June.--------------Author, podcaster, and attorney Allison Carmen battled with being a "certainty addict" and suffered the pull of despair and hopelessness that uncertainty can bring. In the latter half, she revealed how embracing the 'maybe' mindset liberates us to live in the present moment and nurture hope and possibility even in challenging circumstances. She shared her personal struggle with uncertainty and fear of the unknown, which led to anxiety and stress in her life and career. Despite efforts to control the outer world, she came to the realization that the secret to happiness and inner peace was in accepting not knowing what would happen next-- where all possibilities are open. She views stress as resisting whatever is happening in the moment, and anxiety as resisting the future. One can use the 'maybe' technique if they have a negative thought about their future, such as, 'I'm never going to have enough money.' You simply tell yourself, "Maybe that's not true." And suddenly, your stress and worry calms down, and you can be in the present moment, she said. "If you want your life to change, it has to happen in the unknown," as uncertainty can be freeing and open to many outcomes. "It's just kind of allowing yourself to look at everything. You can look at a bird in the sky, or you could look at the whole sky," she added. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/georgenoory/message

We are very proud to announce the start of a recurring monthly series (which will be a regular episode) titled Iconic Song Series. We will pick one Classic McCartney solo track and once a month we will be joined by Allan Kozinn and (eventually) Adrian Sinclair. Co-Authors of the celebrated The McCartney Legacy. By now all followers of our show and McCartney fans in general know that Volume 2 of their book has been announced and scheduled for a 10 December release with pre-orders available now on Amazon. We were beyond happy that Allan and Adrian were willing to join us for a recurring show on 2Legs. And this topic lends itself well. For the first installment we chose 1970's 'Maybe I'm Amazed' from Paul's first solo album McCartney. We discuss historical significance, where Paul was at the time (personally and professionally), lyrical meaning, track by track (analysis). (As in number of tracks used to make the record.). It's well known that Paul recorded much of McCartney at home over on Cavendish Avenue. But for what is essentially one of if not his best known solo song Paul recorded this at E.M.I. These and all the other tiny details we all love to learn about are included in this episode! We thank Allan and Adrian for joining us for this series and we look forward to doing more! Suggestions? Let us know or email us! All The Best! Andy and Tom
Former NBA athlete Charles Barkley articulated his dissatisfaction with San Francisco during the NBA All-Star Game's live telecast on Sunday. Throughout TNT's secondary broadcast for the event, Barkley entered a debate pertaining to the locale for the 2024 All-Star game - Indianapolis, where he voiced his thoughts alongside renowned sports figures like Reggie Miller, a former star from the Indiana Pacers, and Draymond Green from Golden State Warriors. Draymond Green initiated the discourse by expressing his dissatisfaction with the icy conditions in Indianapolis during the past weekend. Respectfully addressing Reggie Miller, he opined, 'We deeply admire you, Reggie, but I hope this is the last All-Star [game] in Indiana.' Next, Barkley took the liberty of comparing the Indiana weather to the situation in San Francisco, where Green's team, the Golden State Warriors, calls home. The tone of the conversation took a sharp turn when Barkley put forth a provocative question to Reggie: 'Given a choice between braving the cold or negotiating with the multitude of homeless folks in San Francisco, which would you prefer?' Barkley's punctuating remarks set the stage for a quarrel among the panelists. Candace Parker, a fellow analyst, quickly offered her rebuttal by proclaiming her love for San Francisco. However, Barkley wasn't swayed and dismissively retorted, 'We certainly do not.' He elaborated that the level of safety in the city was in question, implying that it felt unsafe to even roam around there. Uncomfortable with this apparent denigration of his home city, Green contested Barkley's claims by asserting, 'Yes, it is perfectly safe to walk around!' A response to this from Barkley was: 'Maybe it is, if one chooses to don a bulletproof vest'. In the grand panorama of the live broadcast, Barkley seemed conspicuously critical of San Francisco, a departure from the norm. Generally known for taking distinct positions on political matters and targeting either side of the spectrum, he is no stranger to critiquing the Californian city. Barkley's earlier critique of San Francisco became a talking point during Game 4 of the 2022 NBA Finals, contested between the Warriors and the Dallas Mavericks. As a sudden rainstorm in Dallas interrupted the game due to a leaking roof at American Airlines Arena, Barkley bluntly asserted that the situation would be much worse if the precipitation was occurring in San Francisco. He commented, 'Our beautiful city, San Francisco, has its charms, yet the blatant squalor and rampant homelessness need serious attention.' Barkley urged the city officials to clear the streets from what he deemed as 'undesirable elements'. San Francisco's struggles with deep-rooted societal issues, particularly concerning homelessness and drug abuse, have come under magnifying glasses recently, but intensified scrutiny can lead to change. Locals were outraged in November when city officials decided to clean homeless encampments and open-air narcotics bazaars just before several world leaders came to the city for an important international summit. Ahead of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit, San Francisco was power-washed to cater to notable dignitaries like Chinese President Xi Xinping. This action accentuated the government's approach to handling the echo of urban decay and homelessness that has often marred the city's reputation. While it is clear that there is criticism and concern, there is also anticipation associated with San Francisco. The city has an upcoming opportunity to glamorize its civic pride as it gears up to host the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend. The main attraction, the All-Star Game, is slated to be held at the Warriors' illustrious Chase Arena. As debates on housing and urban decay continue to ebb and flow, it becomes clear that there is a steep path towards righting the wrongs. As with sports, a city's journey towards renewal requires team spirit and a deep-seated desire to rise above adversity. Voices, powerful and pervasive like those of Charles Barkley's, ensure that the spotlight remains on pressing urban issues. While controversial it may seem, these debates might be the spark that ignites a wave of transformation necessary for the City by the Bay, San Francisco. We are living in an unprecedented era of uncertainty, anxiety, and stress. A recent study from the American Psychological Association (APA) reveals that nearly 76% of adults now admit to experiencing stress due to the overwhelming uncertainty that plagues our nation. Moreover, 62% express disbelief in the idea that "our children are going to inherit a better world than we did." Is it possible, amidst this turmoil, to transform uncertainty into an asset and reshape our outlook, even during these turbulent times? This is where the eagerly awaited audiobook, THE GIFT OF MAYBE: Finding Hope and Possibility in Uncertain Times by Allison Carmen (Tantor Media; Narrated by Kim Niemi; Release Date: November 21, 2023; Duration: 5 hrs.), holds the potential to truly impact people's lives for the better. In THE GIFT OF MAYBE audiobook, Allison Carmen, a distinguished CFO, author, podcaster, and attorney, escorts us away from the ceaseless cycles of stress and anxiety that stem from our apprehensions about the future – whether related to our careers, relationships, finances, or the state of the world. Allison, who has herself battled with being a "certainty addict" and intimately understands the pull of despair and hopelessness that uncertainty can bring, provides a clear roadmap for embracing the 'Maybe' mindset. This shift liberates us to live in the present moment and nurture hope and possibility even in challenging circumstances. Allison vividly illustrations this transition in her two widely shared Daily Beast articles: 1) Life After Ken: When Barbie's Dreamhouse Becomes a Clubhouse and 2) Watching ‘Gilmore Girls' Reruns Is Not the Secret of Life (EMBRACE THE UNKNOWN). Both essays reveal the practical applications of 'Maybe' in today's world, particularly in coping with the anxiety and stress from daily and global uncertainty, an issue that disproportionately affects women. The audiobook release of THE GIFT OF MAYBE could not be timelier. Within its compelling narrative, Allison Carmen teaches us that our fear of uncertainty need not chain us to a life consumed by fear and despair. Rather, it offers a pathway to hope. This audiobook is set to amass a devoted following because it teaches us how to: • Embrace uncertainty as a source of hope instead of stress and worry. • Cultivate gratitude even when facing unpredictable challenges. • Accept the wisdom hidden within challenging and perplexing experiences. • Discover joy and possibilities, even in the face of adversity. • Overcome self-doubt and embark on a journey towards a more authentic and creative life. In an interview, Allison can delve into her personal experiences, including the sudden end of her decades-long marriage, her profound encounter with the spiritual concept of 'Maybe' as featured on Oprah.com, and her highly acclaimed "10 Minutes to Less Suffering" podcast, ranked as the #1 Best Stress Podcast. Allison Carmen is the guiding light that our world needs today, offering guidance through job loss, health crises, and financial difficulties. Through THE GIFT OF MAYBE she imparts the invaluable lesson that uncertainty can spark hope. The audiobook, narrated with power and conviction by Kim Niemi, will undoubtedly resonate with both listeners and readers. @theliberatedhealer Learn more about your ad choices. My guest today is combat veteran and artillery gunner, Kelsi Sheren. Kelsi served in the Canadian army alongside American and British troops in Afghanistan. With an unsurprisingly turbulent reentry into the real world, Kelsi shares how she managed feelings of depression, anger, and suicidal thoughts. We discuss her journey to healing with the help of psychedelics and what it's like to go from soldier to wife, mother, and podcaster. To say Kelsi is an intense fireball is an understatement, and she is on a mission to help as many people as she can who are suffering from trauma survive and thrive. Kelsi shared, 'Maybe if somebody had told me after my military operation it was OK to have the feelings, take time to work through them, and it was normal to have the reaction to what I had gone through versus putting me on eventually 11 medications, that could have been really helpful.' It's the duty of Congress to use American tax dollars responsibly, Richard Stern says.American taxpayers deserve to know where their money's going because “the government doesn't have the moral right to walk up and take whatever it wants of your labors because a bureaucrat thinks they know better than you how to use the resources you produced,” says Stern, director of the Grover M. Hermann Center for the Federal Budget at The Heritage Foundation. (The Daily Signal is the news outlet of The Heritage Foundation.)There are 12 appropriations bills that move through Congress each year, and according to Stern, it's the job of lawmakers to ensure that each bill uses Americans' hard-earned taxpayer dollars well, but also the job of the American people to hold their elected officials accountable to do just that."I think we've ended up in a society where people have kind of quietly thought, 'Maybe the government is better at spending that than I am.' And I think that's been the genesis of the problem," he says.Stern joins “The Daily Signal Podcast” to explain what appropriations are and the approval process for them, and why politicians need to be more transparent and responsible when spending taxpayer money.
