Grab some space popcorn, power up your droids, and prepare your Midichlorian gut biome... It's time to talk about the FIRST STAR WARS PREQUEL. In 1999, 16 years after Return of the Jedi, George Lucas brings Star Wars back to cinemas with Episode I - The Phantom Menace. We saw it then, with wide ranging amounts of anticipation, and we were disappointed/maybe just kinda meh. Now, after 25 more years, we're gonna talk about it, and boy oh boy... Anakin's there. Padme too! Plus, Palpatine at his fuckingest! We also talk about Invisalign in the MouthGarf Report... and play some I See What You Did There! Please give us a 5 star rating on Apple Podcasts! The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 6 finally shows the one and only, Boba Fett in the spotlight. We see Boba return and eventually help Din Djarin and Grogu against Moff Gideon's Storm Troopers and Dark Troopers (phase 2 I think), who end up taking Grogu. Fennec Shand reminds me a lot of Zam Wessel from Attack of the Clones, who was pursued by Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, until Jango showed up. We also learn a lot about Jango Fett, Boba Fett's Father. We learn that Jango Fett was a Mandalorian! This is awesome! Since it was skewed in canon, it's nice to know we finally have an answer. They seem to be following his story from Open Seasons comic book series which shows the story of Jango as a boy. Long story short, Jango was the son of a farmer on Concord Dawn. A man named Jaster Mereel who was leader of the True Mandalorians, was on the run from a traitor named Tor Vizsla from Death Watch. Jango's dad hid Jaster Mereel in his farm, and told Jango that he was feeding some homeless men. When Tor Vizsla came looking near Jango's Dad's farm, he found Jango's Dad and beat him up infant of Jango, until Jango's mom created a distraction and Jango ran for his life, leaving his parents who were immediately murdered, Fett ran into Jaster Mereel who eventually took the boy under his wing and recruited him in the Mandalorian Civil War against Death Watch, as one of the True Mandalorians. Jaster died eventually and Jango avenged him, becoming the leader of the True Mandalorians. Explaining this to Din, Din accepts that the armour belongs to Boba. So this armour, is just repainted from his dad's, from Jango's. The deal is done, says Din, where Boba assures him that it is not, as he promised the safety of the child in return for his armour. Now Boba joins the crew until the child is safe. Flying in the Slave 1, they arrive on Nevarro 7, where Cara Dune is now a New Republic Marshal, where he asks her to locate Mayfeld, who you might remember from season 1. Mando is going to spring him out of jail to locate Moff Gideon's cruiser. We jump to Moff Gideon's light cruiser, he walks to the cell containing the child. As Moff Gideon enters, we see Grogu using the force on stormtroopers. Even going as far as using force choke, to which many might think is a dark side move, but, I should mention, Luke Skywalker used it as well in Return of the Jedi, and he was far from the dark side. As Grogu knocks them out, Gideon steps up to him and ignites his dark saber, asking Grogu if he remembers one of these, meaning if he remembers using a lightsaber or having seen many lightsabers during his time as a Jedi at the Jedi Temple before Order 66. Grogu is tired, I think because he had to cut himself off from the force for so long that he isn't used to using it as much as when he was at the Jedi temple learning from the many masters. Using the force can also tire one out, like it does to Luke in the empire strikes back when failing to lift the x-wing out of Yoda's swamp. They blast Grogu with a stun blast, and cuff him. Gideon tells his officer to contact Dr. Pershing, the cloning doctor responsible for the experiments on the child, to tell him that they have their donor. The plan now is for Gideon to kill Grogu to harvest all of his blood which has force powers, or in Star Wars lingo, a high Midichlorian count. Boba is back and badder than ever, as Terry Silver would say. I think the next episode will revolve around rescuing Mayfeld from Jail, and then tracking the light cruiser or going to Dr. Pershing who will have the child momentarily. I think the season finale will end in a Big Bang all out battle like end game. With everyone we've seen from this season fighting together against Moff Gideon and his dark troopers, as he himself gets in a phase 3 dark trooper mega suit to destroy Din. Hopefully Ahsoka Tano returns with Bo Katan, and we get to see another Jedi, Luke or Ezra is my guess. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

_ Twitter (@limafalcon) Instagram (@lima.falcon)

Originally Recorded - November 20th 2016 REY'S PARENTAGE REVEALED!… Okay, probably not. Here at the Block we don't DO pre-release spoilers. We don't KNOW them and we don't WANT to know them. As Ike Clanton always said, "Spoilers just don't go 'round here!" so check 'em at the door. But theories do go 'round here, and in this episode Jerry gives his "shower thoughts" on a possible theory for Rey's parentage that you've most likely not heard anywhere else, but also mostly likely won't end up being what happens in the movies either but we give it anyway cause that's just how we roll here at the Block. Also, more handwringing and whining from Jerry about what damage could be done to his precious Han Solo in the upcoming standalone films about the smuggler-turned-war hero-turned rathtar hauler, as he spews a litany of things "I don't want", the 70's Solo novels are visited, Han's tax free shooting of Greedo: murder or preemptive self-defense?, Dr Strange and how he and the rest of the Marvel Heroverse might tie-in and the potential for genre blurring and 4th wall busting there, Jerry confronts Steve about scolding him at the movies during Captain America: Civil War (a tense moment to be sure), is Black Widow super-soldier enhanced? (We've since learned that she apparently is), selective suspension of disbelief, Comedy and the gods of Egypt, Warcraft (the movie), The Mummy('s), remember Krull? Steve sure does - and you better watch your mouth about it, what about Battle Beyond The Stars? (A John Boy Walton Space Adventure), Ragnar Lothbrok and the Blood Eagle rite, Jerry's carelessness causing nightmares for his littles, actors using the Costanza principle, ANH HISHE, Jerry's possible theory on Rey's parentage (thru a steady stream of interruptions from Steve, who reveals that he somehow slept thru the whole Luke's lightsaber subplot of TFA!?), George Lucas' "explanation" for why Obi-Wan and Yoda de-atomized upon expiration, 200 mg a day of midichlorians, and did you know that Luke might possibly have a son named Scabby Laddblaster? Yep. He might. Helpful tip for enjoying the podcast: If you've been listening to this podcast and haven't been enjoying it, first off, you're probably not reading this anyway, but if you still are for some reason, try listening to it at half-speed, they sound half asleep and you might like that better. Once again, we renew our promise of better audio coming soon. Stevisms include: Well, the Scabby Laddblaster thing. (He sends his apologies for all the chasm-yawning, by the way) "I was TIRED!"

Endings are hard. Storytellers have struggled with bringing narratives to a satisfying conclusion for as long as there have been storytellers. And audiences love to debate how well even the most venerated series have pulled it off. On this episode of The Avatar Returns Podcast our hosts have their say on whether, with "Sozin's Comet," the four-chapter series finale film event, co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino have successfully completed the epic tale of Avatar: The Last Airbender, or if the whole thing goes down like a shattered war balloon. Topics discussed include the emotional grandeur of Zuko and Azula's final Agni Kai, the resolution of Aang and Katara's "will they/won't they," the music of The Track Team, and of course the ol' deus ex Lion Turtle. Midichlorian-bending has come at last! Our journey through the world of Avatar has been emotional and inspiring, and we're sad to see it come to a close. But the show must go on, and for us it will go on with The Legend of Korra! New characters, new adventures, a brand new Avatar! But first... Next: we refuse to let the Aang Gang go quite yet, so before we begin our Korra discussions, we read the first collected volume of Dark Horse Comics' official tie-in series of graphic novels, Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Promise. The Breakdown Intro / Banter (00:00 - 07:12) Main Topic (07:12 - 1:43:54) Outro / Next (1:43:54 - 1:47:51)

It's back and more extraneously priced than ever! Yes it's Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, this time in glorious, well not glorious, but it's in 3D... and this is just the first of six 3-D re-releases for the Star Wars franchise. Despite the reputation it's earned, we honestly went into this screening with open minds. Did we enjoy Episode 1 the second time around? Why does Liam Neeson keep touching everybody? Was Red Tails George Lucas' apology for Jar Jar Binks? Why do kids love trade disputes so darn much? We answer these questions and more! There is some audio glitching at the end of the episode. Our hard drive needs a Midichlorian upgrade. Sorry about that. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Harken back to the days before Geek Salad joined the Podbean family with Retro Episode 14: Midichlorian Mania!!! Join Andy, original co-host Mike C, and Mike G when he was still just an in-studio guest, as they go through the Star Wars Prequels. Be prepared to be shocked as the trio go over both the very bad, but also the good points about Star Wars episodes I-III. Originally posted June 18, 2009.
