The end of September also means it’s the end of the third quarter of the year, so tonight’s show celebrates the great music that has come out these last three months. There’s a little something for everyone tonight, from the melodic goth tones of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds to savage garage punk from The Putz and Stiff Richards. There are veteran bands that have been around for 45-50 years (The Dictators, Nervous Eaters), along with a ton of new blood. There’s friends of the show (Rob Moss and Skin-Tight Skin, Tamar Berk) next to a plethora of artists I wish were my friends. I also begin the festivities with a very personal story, and I would like to thank those that have reached out to offer me encouragement. It’s very appreciated and brings a smile to this old curmudgeon. For more info, including setlists, head to http://scotthudson.blogspot.com

This week’s continuation of last week’s new release episode features, once again, no drop off in quality. There’s plenty of great new music from both relatively new artists and longtime veterans. I mean, who could have guessed that we’d still have vital tunes from two of America’s first punk bands, T.S.O.L. and Nervous Eaters? Let alone the return of The Bevis Frond, the latest from super-prolific songwriter Daniel Romano, and a plethora of Australian bands? Oh, and by the way, I’m looking for some suggestions for next week’s show. Earlier this week, I pulled out my collecton of ten-inch vinyl EP’s, and I’d like to do a broadcast based on those generally forgotten records. But I don’t have enough of these types of releases to fill a whole show, so please let me know some of your favorites of this format! We're back!! After a wonderful six weeks off, radiowilderlive.com will be on the air this week. Our time off was filled with motorcycle riding, cave dwelling, rum and chocolate testing and let's not forget the tequila or back in time with the Mayans. The visits to six countries with our KC pals was a blast and put a lot of gas back in the tank!! Our first show of 2024 has the last song ever done by the Fab 4. John Lennon did a tape in 1977 and through the years several attempts were made to make a record from it but there was too much of a hiss. Fast forward to this year, utilizing AI, Paul and others knocked the hiss out and with Ringo laying down a drum track and Paul finishing lyrics, they completed the song! We decided to play it after the latest new stuff from The Stones. A producer reached out and asked us to feature their artist, Gene O, which we did. Stay tuned for an interview with him later on. Nervous Eaters doing their hot new single, "Talkk". The original version of "Fortune Teller” and brand new from The Libertines, "Run Run Run." Come join us for our first show 2024. We'd love to have you!!

Fue la nueva ola en Estados Unidos, de costa a costa. De Detroit, Boston o Nueva York a San Francisco o Los Ángeles. De The Cars o The Romantics a Greg Kihn o The Tazmanian Devils. The Beatles, The Kinks, The Hollies. Stephanie got a chance for a quick chat with Brad Hallen the Bassist for Boston punk legends Nervous Eaters about their new single "Wild Eyes," and upcoming album on Little Steven Van Zandt's Wicked Cool Records. Two members are local Cape Cod boys and they have a show coming up at The Music Room in W. Yarmouth on Aug. 11. The Eaters were contemporaries of acts like the Ramones, The Police, Iggy Pop, The Pretenders, and a host of others, and eventually became the house band for the fabled Boston punk rock club The Rat, where they played with a who's who of punk and new wave luminaries, including The Police, The Ramones, The Cars, Patti Smith, Dead Boys, Iggy Pop, The Stranglers, Go-Go's and many others. Fun Fact: The Cars' Ric Ocasek produced the band's original demos, which got the band signed to Elektra Records back in the day. The band, led by founder Steve Cataldo, also features an amazing lineup of players including other Boston rock vets, bassist Brad Hallen (of Ministry, Ric Ocasek and The Joneses), drummer David McLean (of Willie Alexander's Boom Boom Band) and guitarist/vocalist Adam Sherman (of Private Lightning), and between them, they have recorded and/or toured with such artists as Ministry, Iggy Pop, Aimee Mann, Jane Wiedlin, Susan Tedeschi, Jimmie Vaughan, Lenny Kaye and many others. On this special interview episode of the Banned Biographies podcast,  Tom Austin-Morgan talks to the bassist of the Boston-based garage punk band Nervous Eaters, Brad Hallen. This episode largely deals with the new single, Wild Eyes, and upcoming album, Monsters & Angels, as well as about Brad's life an career to this point, and boy has he had a career! He's played with so many bands and artists including Ministry, Iggy Pop, Elliot Easton (The Cars),  Jane Wiedlin (The Go-Go's), Aimee Mann, Susan Tadeschi , Monster Mike Welch, Duke Robillard, Roomful of Blues and so many others.Formed in the mid-70's, the Nervous Eaters would eventually become the house band for the legendary Boston punk rock club The Rat, where they established themselves as a leading punk rock band in the Northeast, playing with a who's who of punk and new wave luminaries, including The Police, The Ramones, The Cars, Patti Smith, Dead Boys, Iggy Pop, The Stranglers, Go-Go's and many others. The band's original drummer, the late Jeff Wilkinson, let the band rehearse in his family's basement. “His mother, Florence, fed the band at these rehearsals. Band leader, Steve Cataldo explained: “We'd come up from the basement at different times to grab something to eat and she said, ‘Why don't you all come up and sit down and have a meal? You're such a bunch of nervous eaters.' So, it stuck. It wasn't the coolest name to hit the town, but it seemed like a good idea at the time. We had a good laugh over it and we loved Florence. We are the Nervous Eaters.”The band launched in the mid 1970's and were a leading punk rock band in the Northeast. Home base: The black-walled, sticky-floored, basement club in Boston's Kenmore Square - The Rat. The Eaters played snarling, self-deprecating lust-for-life blasts like Shit for Brains, Get Stuffed, Last Chance, Just Head, and I'm a Degenerate. Their first release a 45, on Rat Records, 1976, which gained local and national college airplay for their classic single - Loretta. The buzz built and their popularity grew. The Cars' Ric Ocasek produced a demo tape which got the band signed to Elektra Records. They toured around the world - but the album stalled, going astray from the start with the wrong assigned label producer and a lack of follow-through. The original Eaters dissolved but came back in the mid- ‘80s with a new line-up. The reborn Eaters launched a salvo called HOT STEEL AND ACID in 1986, a far better disc (that sounded like the band), on the indie label Ace of Hearts. Producer Rick Harte captured the Eaters vicious, vintage punk sound and it went as far as a Boston indie could take it.The band has been revived a few times over the years with various line-ups. The current version of the Nervous Eaters formed in 2018 and includes three other Boston rock veterans, bassist Brad Hallen (who you're about to learn all about), drummer David McLean (of Willie Alexander's Boom Boom Band) and guitarist/vocalist Adam Sherman (of Private Lightning), and between them, they have recorded and/or toured with such artists as Ministry, Iggy Pop, Aimee Mann, Jane Wiedlin, Susan Tedeschi, Jimmie Vaughan, Lenny Kaye and many others. You can find Nervous Eaters at their website: nervouseaters.net, on Facebook and Instagram and you can find Brad Hallen at his website bradhallen.comThis interview was made possible thanks to Peter Ferioli at Pantheon Podcasts and Mike Cubillos at Earshot Media and I'm incredibly grateful to them.ContactTwitter: @BannedBiogsFacebook: @BannedBiographiesInstagram: @bannedbiographiesE-mail: bannedbiographies@gmail.com

On this episode of Analog Smile, Sherry speaks with Steve Cataldo and Brad Hallen from The Nervous Eaters. The Nervous Eaters are an original rock and roll band from Boston, MA who helped define the Boston underground garage/punk rock scene of the late 70's. The band was formed by Steve Cataldo on the North Shore of Boston in Beverly, MA. Fueled by the raw sounds of Link Wray, early Chicago Blues greats and British guitar legends Beck, Clapton and Page, the Nervous Eaters created a raw edgy song style uniquely their own. The Nervous Eaters were one of the more popular rock & roll bands in the Northeast, eventually headlining at venues throughout the United States and Europe. The band has opened for numerous National Acts that included Iggy Pop, Squeeze, The Go Go's, The Pretenders, The Police, The Ramones and The Split Enzs. Other bands from the USA, Canada, Europe, Australia, and Asia have covered songs by the Nervous Eaters. Ric Ocasek of The Cars produced a demo for the band that was picked up by Elektra Records and released nationally in 1980. They have also recorded for Penimman Records, No Tomorrow Records and Ace of Hearts Records. The band was signed by Wicked Cool Records in 2021 with new songs premiering in 2022. The current band is Steve Cataldo on lead guitar and lead vocals, Brad Hallen on bass, back-up vocals, Adam Sherman on rhythm guitar, back-up vocals and David McLean on drums. Sherry, Steve, and Brad chat about their new music and much more! Check out nervouseaters.net for more details.
