When do you put together a campaign and think, “This is my masterpiece”? You probably just need some inspiration. And today, that inspiration is coming from Francis Ford Coppola who created his masterpiece in 1972. So in this episode, we're gonna make you an offer you can't refuse. We're bringing you marketing lessons from The Godfather with the help of our guest, Director of Content, Digital Marketing & PR at Nexthink, Thomas McGrath. Together, we talk about appealing to your internal audience first, nailing the ending, and much more.About our guest, Thomas McGrathThomas McGrath is Director of Content, Digital Marketing & PR at Nexthink, the leader in digital employee experience management software, and co-host of their DEX Show podcast, where he discusses the latest advancements in digital workplace experience with leading industry experts and his colleague Tim Flower. Thomas has been with Nexthink for over 4 years, having started in August 2019 as a Content Strategist. Previously, he served as Head of Content & PR at 1E. He has also led Content at Informa. What B2B Companies Can Learn From The Godfather:Appeal to your internal audience first. Run your content by your colleagues before posting or publishing it. They're like your “family”. Their reaction is a good indicator of how your content will perform out in the wild. Tom says, “If you're not creating enthusiasm and interest internally, with people who are going to be most naturally curious about what you're talking about and most invested in its success, how can you hope to begin to appeal to an external audience?” Nail the ending. No spoilers here, but it's important to wrap up your content and satisfy the need for a resolution. Ian says, “The ending of The Godfather is one of the most satisfying. The idea to have this massive, big,  satisfying ending I think is something that marketers can really think about with their campaigns, events or content. To be able to finish something with a lot of wrapping paper and having some big pizazz or big show. They landed the plane. And if they didn't land the plane, nobody would ever have remembered The Godfather as the best movie of all time.”Quotes*”You shouldn't have to point to your own success and explain it or justify it. It should be self-evident internally that it's been successful.” - Tom McGrath*”Humanize your material. It's an absolutely vital part of marketing and I think that's where content marketers can come into their own. It's the difference between vehicles that are there to convey information, which absolutely have their place. The importance of web pages, explanatory videos, and assets such as podcasting, surveys, social media. Where you're trying to create interest and engagement or put a literal human face or voice on a story or a message is incredibly powerful.” - Tom McGrath*”Sometimes marketers can be too nervous about upsetting people, which sounds like a paradox, right? When I say the most important people to impress are your colleagues and most important people to engage and involve in what you're doing are your colleagues. That doesn't necessarily mean they dictate the way you tell their story.” - Tom McGrathTime Stamps[0:55] Meet Thomas McGrath, Director of Content, Digital Marketing & PR at Nexthink[3:04] The Godfather: A Cinematic Masterpiece Explored[9:30] Behind the Scenes: The Making of The Godfather[15:11] The Godfather and Marketing: Drawing Parallels[19:06] Marketing Insights from The Godfather: Internal vs. External Focus[24:50] The Vulnerability and Importance of Marketing Within Organizations[27:38] Drawing Parallels: Marketing Dynamics and The Godfather's Succession Plan[34:06] Marketing Insights from The Godfather: Nailing the Ending and Humanizing Content[45:03] Content Marketing Strategies and Success StoriesLinksWatch The GodfatherConnect with Thomas on LinkedInLearn more about NexthinkAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company. He studied Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences of Fribourg, and later went on to work for Cisco for 7 years, before starting his own venture in 2004. His time at Cisco, which coincided with the dot com crash, taught him to temper his expectations of wealth and success and ground them in what is real and measurable. In 2004, together with friends Pedro and Patrick, Vincent co-founded Nexthink, a B2B SaaS business monitoring user experience for large organizations. It's estimated that people working for big companies lose on average 20 min per day dealing with computer issues – much of this technical failure is not even reported to upper management but merely dealt with, so companies are often unaware that such a problem exists. Nexthink allows you to monitor and proactively anticipate the problem, so that time lost to technical difficulties is greatly reduced, leading to higher productivity, higher employee satisfaction, and a lower churn. Since 2004 Nexthink has scaled up over 1'000 employees, equipped 15 millions users with its software and raised a total of $345M in funding. Reaching a 1.1B$ valuation in 2021, Nexthink earned the title of Swiss Unicorn. Vincent attributes the success of the company to several factors, both circumstantial and not, and he highlights a few rules of thumb: Don't delegate: distribute. You should create a team structure which allows for absences, doesn't overburden any single person, and doesn't necessitate micro-management. Hire great recruiters. Recruiters tend to hire people like themselves, so this is a key first step in your scaling journey. Make sure as well to have a great onboarding process. Hire excellent sales people who come with a good network of other sales people, in order to increase the overall number of quality applicants. In 2019 Vincent left his operational role at Nexthink. He remains a shareholder, friend and advisor, but has since begun to enjoy having more time for himself and his other hobbies and projects. Memorable Quotes: "Anticipating major market transitions is the secret to a company's success." "Don't celebrate one-off successes too much. You never know how circumstantial they are. Focus on positive trends instead." Don't forget to give us a follow on our Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Linkedin accounts, so you can always stay up to date with our latest initiatives. That way, there's no excuse for missing out on live shows, weekly giveaways or founders' dinners!

Recently, a President/CMO of a sales and marketing tech AI firm that focuses on market research, messaging, and positioning wanted to learn more about ABM but he said let's take sales out of the equation as they are already doing account-based emailing and let's not speak to social as they were already doing LinkedIn ads. What this President/CMO failed to realize is that they're doing ABM in pockets and ABM  is about layering social, email, digital and live interactions in a way that creates the right experiences to move accounts forward.  It's about improving your interactions and the account experience.  In this podcast, Eric Gruber (Personal ABM CEO) talks to Claudia Hoeffner (VP of Revenue Marketing for Nexthink about how they are taking an account-based everything approach and creating custom experiences along the complete buyer's journey. You'll learn:1.  How ABM should not be exclusive to marketing - it needs to go beyond the marketing channel especially when marketing and selling to enterprise accounts. It requires teams to go beyond alignment and move toward integration and orchestration from the very beginning so it's not about waiting for the MQL or download.  You'll see how leadership, sales, marketing, product marketing, field teams, professional service teams, channel teams, and partners have a role in Nexthink's account-based program and how Nexthink creates a winning team for each must-win account.  2.  How Nexthink creates specific account experiences for specific accounts with specific scenarios.  For example, there can be an account with intent but the team is challenged to get to the buying committee, or currently, there is no urgency or budget assigned to a digital transformation project, or a key player left an account.  There needs to be a custom-built, account plan to get accounts from prequalified to qualified where they can run a proof of concept. There needs to be a plan on how you are going to align with these accounts,  their strategic priorities, and their needs, how you will reframe their thoughts and ideas, and how you will build a connection and make the business case for change. 3.  How Nexthink is taking a top-to-bottom approach to prioritizing and segmenting accounts so they focus on the 20% of accounts that can deliver 80% of their revenue growth and where there is a real reason for outreach beyond the account being part of their ICP.  You'll learn how context is even more important than characteristics. 4.  How Nexthink is balancing "scale" with the need to get hyper-personal for specific accounts as taking a personal approach requires great investments in time and resources.  5.  How you cannot effectively do ABM if you are not hyper-personal with a select few target accounts as you will not be able to change sales and marketing motions and it will just be a campaign. And, ABM is not about campaigns.

When we think about technology, old has become synonymous with slow, inefficient, outdated. Once a device reaches a certain age (or starts performing poorly), we're quick to toss it out in favor of a sparkling replacement. But the ongoing chip shortage crisis has put unprecedented strain on companies' hardware supplies – leading many in IT to ask: what if a device's age isn't the real problem? What if that lifecycle can be extended? This week, incoming Nexthink Ambassador Barbara Matoe, along with Nexthink's own sustainability expert Mary Anne Cacciola, join the show to discuss how to extend hardware lifecycles – and how doing so will help both the environment and a business's bottom line. We discuss: - Common misconceptions around device age and performance - How to make a big impact with small changes - Using hardware and application data to understand the true impact of employee devices - Advocating for Green IT best practices across the organization To learn more about Green IT and extending hardware lifecycles, be sure to check out the latest Nexthink Insights Report: Quantifying e-Waste in Corporate IT. Customer value is a crucial part of any business. Making sure your product is helping your clients achieve their goals is important. But how do you gather this information and use it correctly? In this episode of The Gamechanger Podcast, our host Adam Joseph sits with Christophe Labreure, Vice President of Customer Success at Nexthink, to talk about a widely used term: customer value. Christophe tells us his definition of customer value, the importance of quantification, and how to recognize achievable value. Plus, he shares why too much focus on value can be counterproductive. Join this conversation and learn from this expert the best practices around value from a CSM.  Jump straight into: (00:53) - Customer value: What it is and why it isn't easy to achieve - “It's all about providing customer value by helping your customer achieve their goals using your products or services.” (02:26) - Who is Christophe and what is his work in Nexthink - “Our objective is to proactively reduce the number of incidents any user is facing by using a computer. Less incidents is better productivity and efficiency, but also much better satisfaction.” (05:39) - Christophe's definition of value and the importance of quantifying - “It's also about when your solution and services have a positive impact on your customer business, and we can measure that impact and we can quantify that impact.” (08:15) - Keeping track at a bigger scale - “It's important to track the value from the very beginning and to transfer the knowledge of the value from a department to other departments, and to do that, you need apps or tools.” (11:09) - Asking the right questions and the best traits of a CSM - “You need to be a well-trained CSM in the goal, not only on the solution and with some soft skills: capacity to listen and to ask some very open questions.” (13:27) - Recognizing achievable value vs. unrealistic value - “Sometimes maybe you need to resell the solution from scratch. But I think it's a two-step approach quantifying and building an action plan.” (18:28) - Health scores and other indicators - “We have a health score calculated for each of our customers. And the fact we have a value track is one subscore, which is very important in the weight of the global score.” (19:50) - Is customer value a problematic obsession? - “It's not only counterproductive sometimes, but it's really painful because we are not so sure how to obtain the right value for many reasons.” Resources Connect with Christophe via https://www.linkedin.com/in/christophe-labreure-055125/ (LinkedIn) https://www.nexthink.com/resource/forrester-euem-wave-report/?utm_content=RSA&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=nexthink&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&gclid=CjwKCAjwo4mIBhBsEiwAKgzXOCSvwNSiv5wpPf7sng088iLtr_TwFOUjgEmO4cHunlYoy2iOPGZcmxoChq8QAvD_BwE (Nexthink) Hosted by Adam Joseph, The Gamechanger Podcast is a show brought to you by Gainsight. New episode of our unicorn leaders series on the Without Borders podcast. This time, we interview Pedro Bados, co-founder and CEO of Nexthink, a pioneer in digital employee experience.    Nexthink's story is one of resilience, something Pedro believes is key to any successful company and entrepreneur. Bados created the firm in 2004 as a result of his research project at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne and 17 years later it has reached unicorn status. As a football lover, he believes becoming a unicorn is equivalent to playing in the Champions League and that the next step should be to become the winner.    Bados's communication tips for successfully leading a start-up include the importance of letting people know that there is a solution to their problems and being mindful about the things you say and standing behind your words. He also acknowledges that being an engineer makes him more conservative in his promises but that to be successful it is necessary to take risks and sell the dream, especially when communicating internally.    The interview, as ever, was co-hosted with Russell Goldsmith of the csuite podcast.
