On the twenty-second day of beervent, Higher Gravity gave to us…Jungle Boogie Pale Wheat Ale with Rooibos ReaMarz Community Brewing Co. - Chicago, ILABV: 5.7% “Jungle Boogie isn't your typical wheat beer–which is why it consistently ranks among the top wheat beers in the country. Instead of a light and bready cracker profile, Jungle Boogie uses a grain bill of mixed wheat to provide a body of light caramel and amber sweetness. That sweetness provides the platform for the fruity Rooibos tea to build a tower full of ripe stone fruit. Finishing the fermentation with a minimal dry hop of Mosaic further buttresses the fruity characteristics of the tea, while providing a lightning rod to unite the whole with a vibrant current of bright flavor. Light and colorful, Jungle Boogie is the perfect beer to pair with almost any dish and a welcome libation to both longtime fans of craft beer as well as those averse to overly malty or hoppy brews."About the Craft Parenting PodcastThe Craft Parenting Podcast is hosted by Joe and Caroline, two Cincinnati parents who are also craft beer enthusiasts. Biltong From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Biltong is a form of dried, cured meat which originated in Southern African countries (South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Namibia, Botswana, Eswatini and Zambia). Various types of meat are used to produce it, ranging from beef to game meats such as ostrich or kudu. The cut may also vary being either fillets of meat cut into strips following the grain of the muscle, or flat pieces sliced across the grain. It is related to beef jerky; both are spiced, dried meats; however the typical ingredients, taste, and production processes may differ. The word "biltong" is from the Dutch bil ("buttock") and tong ("strip" or "tongue"). Rooibos From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Rooibos, meaning "red bush"), or Aspalathus linearis, is a broom -like member of the plant family Fabaceae that grows in South Africa 's fynbos biome. The leaves are used to make a herbal tea that is called rooibos (especially in Southern Africa), bush tea , red tea , or redbush tea (predominantly in Great Britain). The tea has been popular in Southern Africa for generations, and since the 2000s has gained popularity internationally. The tea has an earthy flavour that is similar to yerba mate or tobacco . Rooibos was formerly classified as Psoralea but is now thought to be part of Aspalathus following Dahlgren (1980). The specific name of linearis was given by Burman (1759) for the plant's linear growing structure and needle-like leaves.

In heated political debates, people are often accused of being hypocrites, lacking consistent foundational values. Today, Yoel and Alexa discuss a recent paper by David Pinsof, David Sears, and Martie Haselton, that challenges the commonsense notion that political belief systems stem from our core values. Instead, the authors propose that people form alliances with others, and develop political beliefs that serve to maintain those alliances. The cohosts discuss how these alliances might form, the various biases used to defend them, and whether values are truly absent from the process. They also tackle the deeper question of whether the alliance model means that neither side is right or wrong.

In the Hold my Drink — navigating culture with a chaser of civility, and Counterweight podcast, Episode 75, we continue our conversation with Carlos Hoyt on how to do diversity without division. In the fraught dynamics of what to teach, how to teach, and when to teach about history, justice, and social issues, we come together across our differences to seek solutions to one of America's most polarizing topics. Despite our differences we find common ground in our belief that a new American identity is a real possibility, if only we hold space for difficult conversations. In our latest conversation we explore “systems” and conclude that a singular focus on systems doesn't reflect reality or result in lasting solutions. Systemic bias, however, remains an enduring part of the human mindset. How to outwit this human tendency is the key to a new national dialogue that brings our commonalities into sharper focus. All discussed with a chaser of civility, of course, and a whiskey & coke, a chocolate Rooibos tea, and a bottle of cool and lucid water for Carlos. To read more on our discussion and to see what we are both are reading, visit our post United Notions on the Hold my Drink website.
